Guys, guys...

What about a Dark version of my The Last Animus AU?

Perhaps Reader was the last animus in their past life, but was killed by or were killed due to the adult platonic yanderes?

Maybe Reader was their adopted dragonet from a random egg they found or were given. Maybe Reader is their flesh and blood dragonet, but who inherited the magic or was magicked into being an animus by one. Maybe Reader was a mysterious hatchling given to them by an ex (friend, lover, enemy, etc. ). Either way, some of them had Reader with them since they were itty bitty, if not in the egg. And maybe they weren't always nice to Reader, or maybe they did care about them, but the moment they discovered they had magic... that they were an animus... They grew colder. Meaner. More dangerous and volatile than they were before. Yet Reader, for some reason, doesn't leave then or hurt them, even if the adults goad at them to do it. To prove how wicked they are. How dangerous and unnatural they are, for being an animus...

It comes to a head when Reader, when asked if they ever made a spell for the adult platonic yans or enchanted something for them, answers they did... Yet before they can say anything besides yes, they're driven out. Roared at and almost attacked as they try to explain themselves. Reader flees into the night/dawn, flying as far away as they can...

Yet the adults don't leave it at that. All of their worst fears about animus dragons, about Reader, were true... So with thundering wings they go to form a group of animus hunters, with the intent to stop the "monster" they didn't kill when they should have... It takes a few weeks, perhaps even a few months, to hunt down Reader. And it doesn't take but a few false kind words, a couple of hollow apologies and white-washed promises, to coax them out...

And it only takes a moment to send sharp chakrams through their wings, grounding them, while one of them delivers the killing blow, driving a long, sharp spear through their chest, impaling them into the cold earth below...

And all Reader can do is cry, laying there as their sobs and wails echo into nothing in the wide emptiness around them, their tears stinging their eyes and chest hurting with each breath and shiver... Their eyes burn, as they lay there in their final moments, realizing too late that they were never accepted... Never cared about... Never loved...

Their cracked sobs soon turn to gasping whimpers, and those too soon turn to fading sighs... And then they're gone...

And the world turns to H*ll.

The ground around them, stained and wetted by their blood and tears, freezes over, sharp spikes and crystals sprouting from the dirt, almost impaling several of the hunters. The very skies darken, the sun or moons blocked by shadowy clouds, as freezing rain and crackling hailstones crash around them. As the hunters start to panic, the earth starts to crack open, fissures forming and sending rocks tumbling into their inner chasms as the remaining dragons take flight, hoping to outrun the chaos all around them. Yet as they all separate, nothing gets better...

The adult platonic yans end up having to detour through a few kingdoms as they try to head back home, only finding chaos and terror everywhere they go. Entire cities on fire by blazing lightning... swathes and swathes of dead, rotting prey... Bloodied rivers and lakes, with frozen shores and burning water... And it only grows worse each passing moon cycle...

They eventually make it back home, sheltering inside to wait out what can only be considered the end of the world... And they're left with nothing else to do except look through their things, until they reach Reader's small cave/room/section... The small area is dark, until they light up a small lamp to shed light. They find well-loved scrolls and books, mostly fantasy, about happier lives and friendships and family... Worn blankets, curled up into a corner of the room, lined with almost every item Reader owned, be it a raggedy stuffed dragon or hand-made necklace or small wood and stone carvings... It feels... surreal, beinh in the room of their old child... Yet as they look further... they find hidden inside a carved-out book a small scroll... But written on the scroll are spells... spells made by Reader...

One to keep the adults' food warm until they eat it... One to keep their blankets warm at the perfect temperature... A few that protect their rooms and home from any accidents or disasters... Two that will alert Reader to when they are upset, and when it is safe for Reader to approach them... And at the bottom, written in scratchy letters, is a spell that makes it so the adults are unable to be mortally wounded or able to die an unnatural death...

And suddenly...

They realize they made the worst mistake of their lives.

They'd... They'd thought Reader was evil- they were an animus, they could do anything or make anything reality- they even admitted to enchanting them-!

But they didn't think for a minute that Reader had only used their magic to help them, had they? They hadn't even given then the benefit of the doubt. They'd... they'd just... yelled at them. Chased them off... And they even... They...

They feel ice creep down their spines, pain biting and clawing ooen their hearts and chests, strangling the words from leaving their throats...

They'd... killed... them.

They'd killed their own kid.

And whatever excuses or denial they had came tumbling and crashing down, breaking them thoroughly inside and out, leaving nothing but a shell of who they used to be.

They... they had helped murder their own dragonet. One they'd raised, who they'd known for their entire life-! They'd just, they'd- their talons- the screams- the wailing- dark ichor bubbling out- frozen dirt and burning skies and they were dead and its all their fault.

They leave, hoping to escape the new h*ll they'd created. Yet over the years, the decades... dragonets are born less and less. Eggs start coming out cracked, never to hatch. The kingdoms fall into chaos and fear as their world slowly dies around them... Until a discovery is made, kickstarting the first bit of hope anyone had had in ages: Animus touched items are unaffected by the deaths of the animi.

Bowls that double anything put in them; holes in the ice that always gives a seal to the hungry talons reaching down; spears that heal wounds; jewels that let others talk in their dreams; earrings of protection; armbands that summon real, fresh rain and storms; the list goes on and on, but one things is clear to everyone: Whatever an animus enchanted is unaffected by their deaths. Whatever those items do is not cursed or double-edged.

This gives rise to the cults.

They start small, dragons preaching about how the moons and spirits and great dragons have left them, abandoning them due to their greed and cruelty. That the animus dragons must have been their chosen ones. And now that they're all gone, they have started to kill their world. Dragons start praying, offering small items and begging forgiveness and making promises to never do such a sin again. And it only grows from there, as soon sacrifices are made, leaders are chosen for the cults, and each one starts to dedicate themselves to certain animus or to several, each writing down what was known about them and their life. Hymns and oaths are written down, soon chanted through the temples that rise from the ashes of the old world... And then the final act that starts to renew the world around them, starts to heal it:

The execution of those who used, hunted, or spread lies of the animi.

Greedy queens are ripped from their thrones, cast into the tearing talons of their subjects, who rend them limb from limb, out of anger and fear and desperation, for letting their greed and bloodthirstiness help bring down the dragons who'd served them faithfully. Animus hunters are soon the hunted, being brought back to the temples and either killed or converted, leaving nothing much either way. Any dragon who speaks ill of animi is disposed of or corrected, and this is how the new age begins...

It takes centuries before the first animus reincarnates.

The enchantment Reader made to keep them alive is the only reason the adults are still around, as they can't bring themself to take off the one thing they have left from them, the one last thing Reader did for them... They've had all of that time to grow, to change, to remake themselves and to start fixing the world around them. Perhaps they help dragons in need; perhaps they travel and share stories of Reader; maybe they even run their own temple or two, ones dedicated to their dragonet...

But when they find the new animus dragonets, as they slowly pop up over the different kingdoms...

They decide to raise them. To care for them. To accept then and love them and protect them, the way they should have all those many years ago...

It's lonely, waiting for the day that Reader will come back...

But they'd wait another thousand years if it meant they got to see them again, to apologize... To try and be a family as they should have been from the start... And they have plenty of siblings and other parents for Reader, don't they? Enough dragons and dragonets so they'd never be lonely or wanting for anyone... Just... please.... They beg their dragonet to come back... This time they'll do better, they promise...

more md wof au stuff I kinda rush sketched

quick review I basically replaced the abslutesolver with the breath of evil bc almost 1 to 1 match and all solvers are animi. the last resistance against the HiveWings were thousands of years ago and failed. HW basically demoted silkwings into barely even dragon, a flamesilk managed to get out and burn silkwings out of an animus removal enchantment, silkwing animus appeared and at first they tried to control them by forcing one to make a collar that permanently restricts it but it worked so well they tried to control one out of fear. the boe was ditched years before and the othermind decided to get revenge by taking over discarded silkwings. Cicada was the first, enchanted by an infected animus to be an animus, and all goes similarly. it forced some silkwings into metamorphosis to be these weird hive-night hybrids labeled SwarmWings. animus silks get the special treatment and became silk-nights instead

first one is my idea of heart nori who in this au is onvia. onvia had experimented with growing a part of the BoE to control herself years before her death but was fully infected by the time she was able to use it. instead she only had access to the piece after dying, kind of rebirthed into the mindspace of her own that she had reign over. she eventually grabbed a leafwing corpse to control bc being an unmovable plant is boring. I thought of making it a canon character before I remembered those corpses would've disappeared centuries ago whoops. Also yes she decorated the leafwing with accessories bc why not.

second image is n meeting onvia. also there's solver uzi. incomparison to her silkwing appearance she has a bulkier build and some foresight. also have her learning how to fly with webbed dragon wings (n has no idea what he's doing but is there to catch her so he's doing his best. i actually had planned to have swarmwings have nightwing wings and i might change it to that depending on how much im willing to modify the hivewing base like that.)

tawny, tessa in this au. tawny is the daughter of a lady of a hive and ends up being the remaining hivewing royal after the othermind massacre on the hives. she was crowned at such a young age and thus very stressed and full of guilt. luckily (not) th othermind eventually found tawny to know too much about it to live and after a few times the hivewings stopped some infected silkwings, it just sent one into the throne room and killed her lol. and then wore her body ofc that happens in this au but I'm not gonna go into that until the next sketch :)))).

I know there's been a lot of stuff about the Assassins getting sent into the past, but what if they all got yeeted into the far off future? Yes, Desmond too. Imagine all of them suddenly finding themselves in Cyberpunk or something like that. Desmond might have the best luck at processing everything, but the rest? Oh boy...

That or Desmond in Cyberpunk with the assassins as engrams, which might be easier. It'd be pretty funny if they were all corporeal as well though

I was wondering if this was meant to be a general cyberpunk setting or if you meant Cyberpunk 2077 but then I read the engrams part and I’m gonna assume you meant a Cyberpunk 2077 AU.

You know what would be fun?

If this was a ‘failed’ attempt to resurrect Desmond.

We’ll set it in a highly advanced city ala Night City but not exactly Night City because we want our city to be under the control of Abstergo. We’re going for full cyberpunk dystopia here with Abstergo ruling the city in a mix of Cyberpunk 2077 + watch_dog Legion.

The city itself is kept under heavy guard so escape is high nigh impossible.

To twist the knife on the wound, the name of the city is New Monteriggioni.

That’s right. Abstergo has taken over Monteriggioni and has turned it into a bustling city.

And a high tech prison.

Now, we can go for either the ‘crimes and illegal activities are around the corner if you know where to look’ setup like Cyberpunk or the “the people have been indoctrinated by Templar propaganda” dystopia like in Captain Laserhawk, pick your poison.

The main point is that Desmond and the other Assassins wake up underneath Monteriggioni, in the Auditore crypt.

It’s no longer a crypt, though.

It’s been transformed into some kind of lab and workshop rolled into one.

And the first ones to wake up are Altaïr, Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton.

They wake up sitting on chairs that looked like a new version of the Animus, with the headset slowly sliding off. They are all sitting around an empty space with the Assassin insignia carved on the floor. Behind them are more chairs with other people seemingly sleeping while sitting with the headset covering half their faces.

The moment the headset completely slides off, a hologram appeared in the middle, showing an old man wearing white.

The man introduced himself as Elijah (no last name), a ‘benefactor’ of the Assassins. He gives them a brief background of the current situation:

The city is under Templar control, calling themselves Abstergo

Centuries have passed since their death

Their consciousness is based on the recovered DNA from their remains or something that held their DNA. The DNA sample was incomplete due to the age so Sample 17 and the data compiled by the Assassins were used to complete them so that each one of them would have memories up to their death.

Their bodies are called ‘dolls’ but they have been upgraded as well with an assistance module to help them understand the world around them without overloading their new ‘brain’. This assistance module shows up as a UI that only they can see with an access to the Brotherhood’s digital library (called a database) that can show them information if they request it using their mind.

“The Assassins have lost.” The hologram stated as he slowly paced around, waving his hand towards their direction as he continued, “This is their final Hail Mary.”

Their assistance module shows the info of what Hail Mary means in this context while the hologram stopped in the middle of the room, “They made a deal with me. In exchange for bringing you back, I was given complete control over the Brotherhood.”

“The three of you are the first ones to be awakened.” The old man stopped for a moment before correcting himself, “No. You will be the only ones to awaken. There’s no longer enough energy left in this place to wake the others.”

“That will be your mission.” The old man continued, “The assistance module will explain in details what kind of energy is necessary and where you can find it.”

“Your priority though…” The old man stepped to the side and another hologram appeared, showing a young man sleeping in some kind of… sarcophagus with a glass top?

“This is Desmond Miles.”

Ezio froze.

“At least…” The old man placed a hand on the glass, “This is Desmond Miles’ body, recreated by the Templars to control the city. This city’s security system is powered by POEs in different Abstergo facilities. Abstergo uses this body to control those POEs continuously.”

The hologram of Desmond disappears and the old man walked further to the side as the circle around the Assassin insignia on the floor slid open.

Another chair slowly ascended until it replaced the open hole left by the insignia as the old man continued, “Even if you get the energy and installed it here, they will not wake until this facility comes under Desmond Miles’ control. This is… my final security protocol.”

He stared at the chair as he continued, “Steal the body Abstergo is using and place it on that chair. That chair will upload all of Desmond Miles’ memories.”

“Only then will you be able to wake the others.”

He turned to face the Assassins once more as he said, “Once Desmond Miles has all his memories, he will know what to do.”

“Good luck.”

Thank you to the fest mods for suggesting such lovely prompts and running such a well-organized fest — what a great idea to celebrate the fantastic writing found in this fandom, and I found myself with tons of great new fics to read, particularly in other ships and rarepairs that I would have never come across otherwise!

Day 30: A Pre-Canon Fic

Reconciling with Death by Madame_Psychosis (M, 26k, complete)

Summary: Featuring a dead girl in a forest, little-soldier-boys, some tenuous grasps on reality, straw mothers, a ghost in a bathroom and, slowly and sadly, kindness from a boy who’s just passing through time. Why I rec it for this prompt: A really unique take on Harry travelling back in time to 1941 to Tom's school days. I love the non-linear style that this fic is written in, which really enhances the build-up of the murder mystery and all the psychological suspense.

Animus, Anima by @maiathoustra (M, 145k, complete)

Summary: In limbo, Harry doesn't choose to go back to the Forbidden Forest to face Voldemort. He makes another decision and finds himself in a baby's body: little Tom Riddle. Years pass that intimately bind the orphan and his imaginary friend into a hopeless and incestuous relationship. Indeed, all the odd events of Tom Riddle's life happen in spite of Harry's presence: could he be the one who provokes them? Why I rec it for this prompt: Another unique take on Harry being sent back in time, this time as a disembodied voice in Tom's head as the most important part of his journey from childhood to when he becomes Lord Voldemort. An incredible exploration on what it means for two souls to love each other so intensely, and the ending is absolutely gutting in a beautiful way. Definitely have tissues on hand for this long, beautiful, angsty read!

I would’ve posted this earlier with more detail, but I kept get frustrated with the layout of things so I just decided on a blank ref sheet. Then write about details in this post.

Icewings are definitely the glass cannons of the wings of fire world, plenty of offensive traits, sharp horns (look like antlers but act like normal horns), serrated claws, frost breath, and sharp spikes along their tail. Horns normally come in shades of grey/silver, grey blue, and light ice blue.

Their scales come in shades of white, grey/silver, light blue, light purple, and light green, usually the coloring is subtle and have smaller scales that glint in sunlight making them look like they’re covered with frost. A healthy Icewing is cold to the touch.

Icewings have sharp eyesight sensitive to movement, and an even better sense of smell. They can see pretty well at night (not as good as a nightwing’s) and only need at least one of the moons to be out to see clearly. The sclera of their eyes are always a very dark grey or black with the iris usually shades of blue, green, grey, purple, and in rare instances be brown. Pupils can be slits or round, depending on the amount of light.

Royal icewings can still hatch as an animus, it’s just much more rare then it ever was in the past. The last animus Icewing died early on in the Sandwing War and haven’t had another hatch since.

garmadon moved to the sky kingdom to train under chen a long time ago, but later left and was cursed by clouse to slowly lose his sandwing traits and turn evil. harumi heard of these stories and left to go find garmadon bc she believes he can overthrow chen and make her queen

morro and harumi are more like antiheroes than villains

there’s like a ton more lore and i honestly have the full thing fleshed out so please ask me questions if you’re interested and i’ll try and make some art for it!!!!!

Animus magic (Au talk)

So as I said in my last post I would talk about Animus magic and how it works in this au. I'll eventually post a map but theirs a small island south from the main land where Icewings live. Around those icy oceans one of the seawing tribes live. Due to sharing a home these seawings and Icewings interact a lot leading to a lot of hybirds. However, their not the only tribes to hang around there as the Nightwings and Icewings have slight tensions leading to them having dragons spying on each other. While the Nightwings make sure they don't tell their secrets about mindreading or future vision to the Icewings likewise the Icewings hide Animus magic from the Nightwings. However, the Nightwings have begun to work out theories on how Animus magic is acquired. Some suspect the snow, some the way the moon reflects off the snow and others suspect the bright lights that light up the sky day or night.

The truth is that Animus magic is made by the aurora borealis the bright colorful lights that light up the sky. However, the truth is worse than just leave an egg out and it might get Animus magic, since the bright colors also mean that the wyrmling inside the egg becomes weaker and more likely to die before hatching. Due to this Icewings have gained the tradition of burying their eggs to protect them from this light as the brighter the Aurora the weaker the wyrmling and the higher chance of death. Likewise Seawings living in those areas have been reported to hide their eggs in sea caves deep underwater or even in mud. Although it is more common to find them kept in a large metal box designed to hold the egg while giving enough space for the wyrmling to hatch unharmed.

If an egg is left out for whatever reason then the brightness of the Aurora tends to impact how strong the Animus magic and how likely it is for the egg to die.

At it's weakest it usually causes level 1 Animus. These Animus dragons can influence the emotions and feelings of dragons by enchanting items to change color, texture, shape based on the dragon's holding it's emotion. They can also enchant items to influence other dragons mood. This is also the easiest of them to break out of since the main factors towards breaking out of Animus magic is 1) realizing it is animus magic 2) mental fortitude. Just how much you can mentally fight against it. The chances of the egg dying when kept out are roughly 50/50

Level 2 animus comes from when the light is stronger. This is the level of intensity it is normally under. With a solid 70% chance that eggs left under it's light will never hatch. Dragons with Animus level 2 are able to mess with other dragons sensors. Making soft stuff feel hard, making cotton feel like metal. They can also mess with a dragons sense of sight making a rock look like it's gold. Once again unable to enchant a dragon directly they tend to use jewelry and items to enchant dragons.

On the rare night it glows at full power dragons hatched under it will have level 3 animus magic. Able to actually change a rock into gold, able to extinguish a firescales, firescales. They are the strongest and most feared. Yet, almost all eggs left out will die. Only about 5% survive and even then the dragons are usually smaller than normal and very sickly. Even they can't make an inanimate object move on it's own. Theirs always work arounds for those creative enough. I.E instead of 'spear kill Snowfall' you can say 'make anyone who holds this spear want to kill Snowfall' Being the hardest to fight only other animus or those familiar with it have a chance to fight back against it's power.

How do Animus gain power? you have natural ability which is typically level 1 or 2 this is the power that a dragon is hatched with. However, they can grow stronger through training. Using their abilities more and getting more familiar with it can make a dragon hatched as a level 2 animus become as powerful as a level 3. Making those hatched with level 3 that receive the right training something to truly fear.

tribes beliefs and customs around Animus dragons;

Icewings; they believe that Animus dragons are a blessing and a curse from the sky. That every unhatched dragon becomes fused with the colorful sky, trapped forever. That those hatched aren't much better off as each spell wears away their soul bit by bit until their heartless and cruel. So they tend to keep Animus dragons under a close eye to make sure they don't overuse their magic however their is no strict limit for how often they can or cannot use their magic, only that it must be kept to important situations. I.E making a earring for a lover is bad, making your claws strong enough to kill another dragon in self-defenses, good.

Seawings; the southern tribe believe animus dragons are by nature heartless and cruel and that no matter how much or little magic they use it's pointless. Instead they should be taught to serve their queen/king, abandon all love and never have eggs. Due to these harsh rules most Animus either flee or are killed for refusing to obey the queen/king. You can find each and every animus dragon killed name written on the castle wall as a warning to other animus dragons.

In the Northen tribe where Animus magic is much rarer they believe only purebreed dragons can have Animus magic and stories of hybrid Animus dragons are either made up to scare wyrmling's into behaving or overexaggerated stories. Otherwise they tend to have similar believes to the Icewings. That overtime the usage of Animus magic is what wears away at their soul.

Nightwings; They see Animus magic the same way they view future vision and mindreading as a tool rather than something to fear. Instead encouraging those with Animus magic to train and learn their own limitations so they can serve their tribe. They are given free pick over whoever they want as their mate with the exception that said mate must also agree. However, with how status oriented they can be very few would reject an Animus dragon unless they already had their heart stolen by another.

Skywings; They tend to share views with the Southern Seawing tribe seeing Animus dragons as already heartless. So if a wyrmling is found to be Animus they are given the same treatment as firescale, a free flying lesson. If they use their magic to survive they are either send to the queen/king for their fate to be decided if their parents are merciful or it is up to either parent to finish the job.

Sandwings; Almost no Sandwings have been reported to be Animus. However that doesn't mean their haven't been Animus sandwings rather they just don't have any protocol due to how rare it is. Typically if one is found they are taken to the queen/king for protection and for them to begin study but nobody is fully sure if that is what actually happens or not. Most Animus are too scared to find out if their queen/king is that merciful.

Rainwings; Similarly almost no Rainwings have been reported to be Animus. If a rainwing is found to be Animus it is assumed the tribe wouldn't do much about it. Seeing as they are highly communitive it is possible they would be given more responsibilities in looking after the tribe.

Mudwings; I can't believe I forgot about Mudwings. They also don't have many records of Animus dragons, however, they do have a protocol for if one is found. They and their sibs are given a special title depending on what their original jobs were where they pretty much have the same job as they had but with a fancy title. This also means they are given extra training to work up their Animus magic so they can protect their sibs if the need arises.

A few designs from Wings of Murder Drones (WOF + Murder Drobes au I made) because I said I'd explain the au

I think Dolphin's design is my favorite (even though it was the trickiest to figure out) but that might just be because I love seawings

And now, an explanation of the au!

Worker drones = workerwings, any tribe that isn't a nightwing

Disassembly/murder drones = assasinwings/murderwings, nightwing + any tribe (with a few modifications depending on what their non-nightwing half is, thanks to animus magic

Humans = nightwings

Characters I haven't drawn yet

N: N, assasinwing night/sand

V: V, assasinwing night/sky

J: J, assasinwing night/hive

Kahn: Kakapo, workerwing rainwing

Nori: Nightingale, workerwing rainwing, animus, under control of the othermind

Yeva: Yale, workerwing seawing, animus, under control of the othermind

Cyn: Clover, workerwing? leafwing, animus leafspeaker, takes place of Freedom and Cottonmouth (whatever you would call that) (still considering if she should actually be an animus)

A long time ago (somewhere between Darkstalker and current wof), the nightwings took over both Pyrrhia (Earth) and Pantala (Copper-9) and managed to enslave every other tribe (somehow) and they were dubbed workerwings (either by themselves or the nightwings, still figuring that out)

But some cataclysmic event happened on Pantala, leaving only the Workerwings behind, its unknown what exactly happened to the nightwings on Pantala (maybe they all fled, or maybe they all died, who knows, but hey, the workerwings are free now, so who cares)

After a while of happy workerwing freedom, some dragons were sent, all of them half nightwing thanks to animus magic. Their quest was to kill every last workerwing on Pantala. They were dubbed assasinwings by themselves and the nightwings, and murderwings by their workerwing prey.

Arcane as Wings of Fire concepts

Jinx and Vi are RainWing/Sandwing hybrids, sharing the ability to produce weak oral sparks. Only Jinx has venom. Neither are equipped with tail barbs, and only Vi's tail is prehensile (hinting at Vi's better parkor/climbing skills.) Jinx's cloud patterns aren't tattoos, but Vi's gears are. Their scales cannot color shift.

Cait has mind reading abilities but often chooses to wear skyfire in her day to day life. In this au, the NightWings are still living in their old kingdom, and this is how she got her powers. Darkstalker was never born with animus power and simply passed on the gene, making him nothing but a footnote in the tale of how Arctic was stolen from the IceWings.

Vander is a MudWing/Sandwing hybrid (and also I forgot to add his color pallette.) His outer appearance resembles a MudWing; muscular, brown scales and scale patterns trending with MudWing scales. But his inner world is closer to his SandWing heritage. He radiates heat, can breath fire regardless of temperature, and can go longer periods without sustenance despite his unusual size. Vander filled a role similar to Thorn's, running the oasis as a tavern named after the Last Drop. In this au he actually fathered Mylo and Claggor as quarter-MudWing twins, and adopted Vi and Powder when their parents were killed by NightWings over territory dispute. His tail acts like his gauntlets, barbless and bludgeon-like thanks to his MudWing bulk.

Silco is leader of the Scorpion Den after Vander's death. He is in a position very similar to Vulture's. The scar was given to him when Vander attacked him and upended a vial of RainWing venom as close to Silco's eye as he could get, though obviously he survived the ordeal anyways.

I've got my idea for each arc in the swapped WoF continent au mostly figured out now!

Also warning for spoilers since I use the same events as in the book for this.

Arc 1:

Takes place on Pantala. Leafwings are not at war and trees are not illegal but Hivewings still rule over the Silkwings and have uneasy alliance with the Leafwings. Queen Wasp has died and left everyone unsure of who will take over her hive/being the main Hivewing queen. Every Lady or at least a few of them (I imagine 3) who are interested are now at war and split the hives. Some side with Leafwings, Some force Silkwings to fight, and Some only have Hivewings but many of them. The book keeper declares there is a prophecy in Clearsight's book about ending this war.

(I'm not yet sure how the prophecy goes)

But it says that 2 Hivewings, 2 Silkwings, and 1 Leafwing will end it in 20 years.

And now like the normal plot the eggs are gathered, something goes wrong with getting 2 Hivewing eggs and it is replaced by another Leafwing egg instead.

The dragonets are

Clay - Leafwing

A very strong looking Leafwing, hatched first so was decided to be the Leafwing they wanted. Has no abilities but is believed to be feirce and dangerous due to Hivewing propaganda. He just wants peace and to be friendly.

Tsunami - Silkwing

They think she acts out because of not being properly raised by Silkwings under Hivewing rule and she probably wants to prove Silkwings are good leaders for prophecys and stuff. Related to either Queen Monarch or whoever the last Silkwing royalty was and is therefore the heir to the Silkwing throne which no longer exists. She does get her wings before they escape and was excited about it.

Glory - Leafwing

Glory has leafspeak instead of venom but no one thinks either she or Clay has it. They do probably treat her a bit better but she's still counted as an extra for hatching later and therefore is unwanted.

Starflight - Hivewing

The Hivewings want him to be the leader of the group. He has no extra natural weapons.

Sunny - An unusual looking Silkwing

Is a Silkwing with no antenna and some strange looking features. Considered the good Silkwing of the group for behaving but she is still very overlooked because of it. Can't wait to get her wings any day now. She is a Silk/Hive hybrid (Mother Silkwing and Father Hivewing) When she gets her wings later after they escape she has very unusual wings and she might also get some black scales during her metamorphosis.

At the end the prophecy is discovered to be a fake made up by 1 of the Hivewing Ladies in order to get the throne and rule over all 3 tribes, but it is still sort of fulfilled.

Arc 2: (Needs some work)

Takes place in Pantala. There is a school for all 3 tribes and Silkwings have their own tribe and queen again (Ruled by Sunny's mother.) Darkstalker who is a Beetlewing animus is awoken. He can somehow talk to Moon (unsure how)

Moon comes across Clearsight's book somehow and finds a real prophecy written in it.

Moon - Hivewing

Somehow able to talk to Darkstalker, can't hear thoughts however. (Unsure how else to make her unique)

Winter - Leafwing

Doesn't have leafspeak, part of the royal family.

Peril - Silkwing

She's a flamesilk. Hivewings tried to use her to produce it and she became useful as a war machine as well.

Turtle - Silkwing

Still an animus. Also part of the forgotten original Silkwing royalty same as his sister Anemone.

Qibli - Hivewing

Has extra natural weapons mostly for paralyzing. Very loyal to the new Silkwing queen who took him in when he was little.

In the end they defeat Darkstalker, they also prevent the Hivewings and Leafwings from going to war again.

Arc 3: (Needs work)

Takes place on Pyrrhia. One of the tribes has taken over several of the others or is at war with them.

Blue - Nightwing

Born under 1 moon. Can see the future. Gets visions and doesn't know what to do about it. Delivers the 3rd prophecy.

Cricket - Icewing

(Wanted to keep up the forbidden romance with her and Blue, also thought Icewing would be more interesting than Sandwing or any other dragon type that made sense for her) Not much else to say.

Sundew - Skywing

Might have firescales (Was unsure whether or not to give them to her) . Is part of a small group who spilt from the main Skywing kingdom.

Snowfall - Leafwing

Leafwing queen after what happens with Darkstalker.

Luna - Nightwing

Born under 1 moon with Blue. Can read minds. She ends up using this power to show Freedom the visions.

They end up reuniting the tribes and stopping the breath of evil which is on Pyrrhia now.

And that concludes what I have so far for this au, I'm almost done with the drawings for the 1st arc characters too. Let me know what you think :3

I love the darker take on The Last Animus

I like to imagine the Animus’s to come back the same age they died as, and with their memories just more power, cause I like the idea of the Animus’s seemingly having grown cold to the dragons yet they still try to repair the world

also the cults are insane, do they literally see them as gods?-

To the cult question: Yes, they kinda do see them as gods of some sort, or moons-blessed or something like that😅

The Animus dragons get their memories back once they've reached the age they died at in their past life, but their powers are discovered on their their time (they have them at birth, they just have to accidentally use them for the first time to know about them/realized they have magic)

And if this had a 🥚Tiny Talons🐉 AU, I'd call it the 🥚Tiny Animus🔮 AU.

Reader hides their true self/form by making a charm/necklace/accessory that makes it so they have a "mask" (a form) for a dragon from each tribe. So, they'd be able to disguise themself as a MudWing, a SandWing, a SkyWing, a SeaWing, a RainWing, an IceWing, a NightWing, a HiveWing, a SilkWing, and a LeafWing, complete with a special name an color and appearance for each one. This idea is based on the character Chameleon from Wings of Fire. Watch Jekyll and Hyde Chameleon PMV on YouTube, to get an idea with fun music, as to how it works and appears.

But, yeah. Reader could choose one form to have more if their confidence and be stronger, have another form be smaller and meeker, have one form be tall and lithe, choose one one be short and stout, they could even choose to have any gender or appearance they want as long as it made sense to the new tribe they were appearing as!

Should I hold a small poll to decide what each form Reader can take on is named and what color they are? I think it sounds fun!

Character bases created by AprilSilverWolf! (hopefully i got the right name, theyre on DeviantArt) au was renamed to COT for children fitting better than dragonets for trickery

Lore behind the AU there was another group besides the Talons of peace, this one was named 'Wings for the future', suspected to have lasted much longer than Talons of peace jokers, he great leader Clear'vision collected many different dragons together, leading them all with her mysterious way of sharing her power of future and letting others see it through her. Her rule is a iron talons with the help of an animus assistant, no one knows who this dragon is as they keep shapeshifting forms. When Morrowseer created the fake prophecy a new one was created, leading the Talons of peace to collect the eggs for a scheme for Princess Blister, Clear'vision found this quite inconvenient and had her followers gather together the dragonets of trickery in their eggs, having the animus dragon grant each dragonet something special, but to everyones suprise, two twin eggs were locked in with the three other eggs. the dragonets from oldest to youngest Mudpile: Mudwing and the bigwings of the group, he is lava proof and he is able to withstand even the ice kingdom's cold temperature. He is the leader of the group and every member respects his decisions Coconut: A Leafwing and Sandwing hybrid of the COT, his father gave his egg to protect him, he had been given the gift of the greatest leafspeak that can spread through a continent and the breath of fire, he makes sure everyone wears their necklaces that hide their true identities. Nebula: A Nightwing and Songwing(fantribe) hybrid, a great visioneer and mind reader with the personality of a anxious gifted child. She is the daughter of Clear'vision and doesnt have trouble showing this off to the rest of the 'Wing for the future' members, suprisingly she doesnt do this to her chosen family Wildfire: Firescale Skywing with the temperment of a forestfire, she is happy to battle but prefers to keep her 'false identity' necklace because it allows her to not be a firescale for a while and hug her chosen family. Flow: An animus Seawing with the caring personality, he has a weak power of hydrokinesis, as well as having a twin sister he is very protective of, he has made many spells to keep his chosen family safe and untouched on the secret island they life on in the sea kingdom. He as well is missing a leg (definitely didnt forget to fix it in the drawing)

So…I’ve had another plot idea attack me at work today that I thought I’d share.

It’s a combo soulmate/super power au but with a twist.

Everyone in this au has some sort of power and at least 1 soulmate, and the soulmate can be platonic or romantic, but you don’t know which one it is, and it’s a predetermined factor. So you can’t meet a platonic soulmate and change them into a romantic one, and a romantic one can’t be changed into a platonic one, so a romantic soulmate always has some level of intimacy to the other.

I should add romantic soulmates don’t force feelings of love on the other person. It can be something like a best friend you sometimes have sex with. A friends with benefits if you will.

Now where the two mingle in the point of the plot. You have a power on your own, but your power gets stronger, or an ‘upgrade’ with your soulmate.

So my idea was Desmond’s power would be something like a dream-walker, which would be a 'psychic’ based power. I feel it would fit him, and eludes to the Animus. (also, I should mention that alone Desmond can only dream-walk in his soulmate’s dreams.) Clay could be his platonic (or romantic if you’d want) soulmate. Clay’s power is electric/tech based. So he can basically unlock any sort of tech, be it a phone, computer, or a biometric lock.

Their power together would allow Desmond to basically 'dream walk’ in technology that Clay basically 'plugs’ him into. And Desmond would be able to absorb whatever knowledge they’re looking for in the computer. It’d be faster than searching the device and reading it. And while they’re connected, any knowledge Desmond gets from the device is automatically shared with Clay.

Altair’s power would have to be knowledge based. Also psychic based. Maybe his power is kind of like an opposite of Clay’s, in that he can absorb knowledge from simply touching something? Like he can touch a book and have it memorized word for word. It also makes him a cheat in academics, because he doesn’t even have to try.

For his power combo with Desmond, I’m thinking it would allow one of them to enter someone else’s mind. Basically mind reading? Only for Desmond/Altair it’s like they’re actually standing in someone’s mind, kind of like the animus loading screen. They can hear the persons thoughts as if it’s their own.

Ezio…I so want Ezio’s to be something sexual because of how he is. But maybe it’s more of a 'desire’. Alone Ezio can feel what other people desire, like money, sex, a job, free coffee, etc. And with Desmond Ezio would be able to project false desires to other people. Like he could make an abstergo guard let them into somewhere they shouldn’t be because he projects the desire to help them into the guard. And something this powerful would have a time limit, so it would wear off eventually.

Ratonhnhaké:ton’s is probably going to sound lazy but…he can talk to animals? Any animal, even fish. And maybe even transform into a few. And Desmond’s combo power with Ratonhnhaké:ton would allow him to see through an animal’s eyes, like in the Layla trilogy the main assassin has a pet bird they can 'see’ through.

I should add that most 'combo’ moves can only be used if the two people are touching. Like holding hands. Maybe some powers can be used alone once the soulmate bond has been activated, but it’s weaker or has a chance of failing.

Altair, Ezio, and Ratonhnhaké:ton can also have soulmate bonds with each other if you want, but they’re all connected to Desmond regardless. (And lets be real, whether they were romantic or platonic bonds, Desmond would date all of them regardless.)

(One last minute thing that popped into my head. For an Altair/Ezio combo, maybe Ezio can project his desire to learn something, and Altair would be able to 'transfer’ the knowledge to him.)

Being soulmates means these two people will bring the best of each other and help each other to reach their dreams and aspirations. The soulmate system does not force any feelings at all, the feelings they develop are theirs to cultivate.

For Clay and Desmond: I’m just imagining Desmond getting ‘plugged’ to have this main character gets sucked into a Tron-like miniworld with antivirus programs appearing as patrolling guards and encrypted or password protected information having minigames that needs a bit of time to unlock.

Altaïr’s power sounds like psychometry but it’s a knowledge based psychometry where he can gain knowledge of what’s written in books. When he touches something else, maybe he gets their composition? Like touching a belt would tell him what kind of animal was used for the leather, what metals were used and how they were crafted (to know who used it, he’d have to touch it longer). This means he’s almost always wearing gloves that covers his hands. When combined with Desmond’s power, this becomes half-Animus Loading Screen half-White Void that appears when they assassinate someone. It also takes practice for them to get a hang of the target’s thoughts because they are dealing with 3 thoughts happening all at the same time: Altaïr’s, Desmond’s and their target.

Ezio and Desmond’s combined power sounds like it would become a kind of light hypnosis and the target has to be in line of sight with the same range as how short or far Ezio can detect other people’s desires. Longer period of using their combined power will increase the urgency of the fake desire they’re implanting.

This means that Ratonhnhaké:ton has a lot of animal friends who are willing to let him borrow their eyes as well. Maybe power it up a bit so that connecting with Desmond means Ratonhnhaké:ton and Desmond can control the animal’s body as well?

I read their powers and my first thoughts are D&D spells for their combos:

Altaïr and Desmond: Detect Thoughts

Ezio and Desmond: Charm Person (in a way)

Ratonhnhaké:ton himself: Speak with Animal

Desmond could be special in this one as the Isus programmed him to ‘earn’ soulmates if he receives their loyalty and this mutated to those soulmates being able to connect to one another if they’re close enough (platonically or romantically)

Other possible combinations:

Altaïr and Ezio: Altaïr and Ezio gain knowledge based on a desire of Ezio’s target but the amount of knowledge they receive will be at the same base as what that target knows. For example, a baker wants to bake a bread would give them all necessary knowledge to make bread but a guard who wants to marry a noble’s daughter would only give them the names of all nobles that guard knows and maybe what he knows of their houses.

Altaïr and Ratonhnhaké:ton: Altaïr and Ratonhnhaké:ton gain knowledge based on the animal Ratonhnhaké:ton connects them to. Birds will give them the lay of the land, maybe even where nonpoisonous and poisonous berries are. Wolves would give them information based on his keen sense of smell. Something like that?

Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton: The creation of fake desires that Desmond and Ezio can do to human targets can be done to animals in Ratonhnhaké:ton and Ezio’s case. They’re much easier to persuade as well and can be done to multiple targets at the same time as long as they’re all in the line of sight and the same species.
