One of my favorite little scenes in the show is when in the coming of Arthur pt 1 when they found elyan and he attacks Arthur gwaine immediately raises his sword to protect him.
like he has it right next to Arthur incase Elyan did something and I love it.

Merlin S3E13, “The Coming of Arthur: Part Two”
Leon?? What’s going on with him? Please don’t hurt him.
Leon. Don’t die. I would never forgive you. But also he’s so brave I love him
The Knights’ last stand.
For once I agree with Arthur on this one.
Gwen grew up with Leon??
Gwen’s too trusting of Morgana. Did she honestly think she could get away with it?
Gwen you’re going to poooooisoooooooned
Merlin you do know Arthur is in the area? This is the worst time for him to discover you have magic.
Gwen what the fuck are you doing and most of all how did you think you wouldn’t get caught? CHECK YOUR SURROUNDINGS.
OH SHIT THE VIAL IS BROKEN
Freya??
I will never not be sad about Merlin and Freya. (Especially how I’ve seen Freya be treated by some fic writers.)
Kilgharrah is there to save the day!
EXCALIBUR!! It’s been a while.
I want to see Leon in a dress so bad. (It did not disappoint.)
Can Gwen and Leon see the traces that they’re leaving?
Gaius better not die.
Well, at least we know Excalibur works.
LANCELOT!!!
He and Gwaine are going to be besties.
Elyan is silent most of the time but when he does speak he’s hilarious.
The round table. (This totally doesn’t have mythological significance in Arthurian legends. And I’m totally not obsessing over how Merlin is at Arthur’s right hand.)
I expected Merlin to be the first, not Lancelot. But I guess it’s fitting that the oldest friend (apart from Merlin) be the first.
Gaius stands so proud. I love him.
That little exchange of nods!!
Lancelot is great. But also, it hurts to see how true his words are.
THE MUSIC!!!
MERLIN DIDN’T GIVE ARTHUR EXCALIBUR?!!!
This episode proves, once again, how much I am in love with Gwaine.
Lancelot better not die.
GAIUS DOING MAGIC???
This is the exact reverse of the S2 finale, with Morgause and Morgana switched.
I did not know Morgana was that powerful.
Gwaine you better be alive
THEY’RE ALL DECKED OUT IN KNIGHTS’ ATTIRE!
And Excalibur becomes the sword in the stone of legend.

I love that Elyan and Gwaine’s first one on one interaction is sneaking into the dungeons together to see if the king is there, because Merlin told them to

Incorrect Merlin Quotes
(S3: E13)
Arthur: Are there any around this table who will join me?
Lancelot: You taught me the values of being a knight, the code by which a man should live his life. To fight with honor for justice, freedom and all that's good. I believe in the world you will build.
Elyan: Even though I was a commoner, a nobody, you were willing to lay down your life for me, Arthur. It is now my turn to repay you.
Leon: I have found alongside you many times. There is no one I would rather die for.
Gwaine: I think we've no chance. But I wouldn't miss it for the world.
Percival: ...
Percival: Well, I legit met you guys like five minutes ago but sure, fuck it.
Percival: Your enemies are my enemies, I guess.
(Your party has gained: one strong boi)

The episodes in Merlin that revolve around the cup of life are so funny to me, like is that really the name you came up with? It’s obviously the holy grail, was that copyrighted or something?

Do you still like Merlin? Got any fav eps?
Anoni
I'm still a Merlin fan I was raised on Arthurian legends the history and stories always fascinated me, my grandfather used to tell me the stories of old many happy memories come from them....
Yet when you've watched every episode around six times wishing that.
Lancelot didn't go through that vail and Merlin stood up to callieach (seriously his a warlock she's just a gatekeeper!)
Merlin actually stood up to morgana and helped her 🤦🏼‍♀️
Arthur lived if Merlin called that bloody dragon!
The knights worked out the cup of life was the holy grail 🤦‍♀️
Leon actually Worked out he was immortal
Merlin went to Avalon and gave up staring at that bloody gate in the middle of that bloody lake!!
And it still doesn't bloody happen... Well, you kinda have to move on!
Ohh fave episodes lets see.....
ep5 intro to Lancelot,
season 2 episodes 4, 5 and 6.
Season 3 the coming of Arthur episodes 12 & 13.
Season 4 episodes 1 & 2, 6, 11, 12 and 13.
Season 5 episodes 3, 6, 10, 11, 12 and 13.
They are my favourites, but give me Santiago aka Lancelot any day 😈🥰

Is The Coming of Arthur Part 2 the best Merlin episode? It's a serious contender. Honestly, the only part I don't really like is when Arthur is giving his big speech about equality and asks who will join him in his bid to take back Camelot, and everyone stands up and pledges their alliance. It's so cheesy. What Lancelot said wasn't even true. Arthur didn't teach him the nobility of a knight. He was already noble, and Merlin and Gwen had a bigger influence on him than Arthur.
Arthur's speech after knighting Gwaine, Lancelot, Percival, and Elyan was cheesy too. He's great at giving pep talks though. He knows how to inflate a man's ego so they're willing to die for him, "with honor".
Lancelot and Merlin were quite something. If Merlin sent word to Lancelot that means he knew where Lancelot was living, yet Lancelot hadn't told him in Lancelot and Guinevere, because he hadn't know where he was going next then. So that means Lancelot must've reached out to Merlin after he settled down in Haldor. Lancelot was the only person other than Gaius to truly appreciate Merlin. Their late night chat was so romantic. Lancelot looked like he was in love with Merlin's everything. I swear, the way he looked at Merlin...
Leon and Gwen were badasses in this episode. I cannot understate how badass Gwen was. She was so clever. She didn't just pretend to be loyal to Morgana to survive and buy herself time for Arthur to save them; no, she knew there was a lot more she could do as a "trusted member of the court", so she waited for the right moment to make her move. She straight-up lied to Morgana, who would've gladly had her head on a spike, to free Leon and find Arthur. She employed her blacksmithing skills to duplicate a key! that she stole from Morgause! Her plan was too ambitious but that was because Morgana knew her too well. I think Gwen probably knew that, but tried anyway. Her plan to rescue Leon was still impressive. She came up with the plan alone and executed it alone, with no powers or fighting skills to protect her had anything gone wrong. She'd been alone, serving a lunatic who wanted to kill everyone she loved, yet she had still looked that tyrant wannabe in the eye and lied. She hadn't even been scared. Gwen's honestly so, so resourceful. She was a servant, a seamstress, dabbled in blacksmithing, and had excellent survival instincts (she survived Morgana and that dude who kidnapped her in The Hunter's Heart, and she survived her banishment too). Gwen was quick on her feet, so witty and intelligent. Her quick thinking in this episode and in Arthur's Bane, and the way she played Agravaine in The Darkest Hour? That's Queen shit right there.
Arwen were so sweet in this episode. Their first kiss was initiated by Arthur, who kissed her in front of all their friends because he didn't care about hiding their relationship anymore (their kisses are always so pretty!), but their second kiss was imitated by Gwen, who'd been afraid of exposing her relationship, in an even more public setting. The knights (minus Lancelot, poor lad), and Merlin, looked so happy and proud. Merlin was truly happy for Arthur and Gwen. Also, his face when Arwen kissed the first time, and Lancelot knew without a doubt they were together, was so funny. I can't even explain it. He was kind of amused? But also like "Oh shit". Also, I love how Gwen always hugs Arthur like she never wants to let go.
Another thing I don't like about the episode that I forgot to mention is Morgana when she found Morgause unconscious. It was hilarious how she tried to run in heels and a tight dress. She literally waddled to her sister. You could hear the clanking of her heels on the floor. It was honestly so ridiculous. Katie's acting wasn't great either. Her distress didn't look real at all, and her "No!"'s sounded like "Niao"s. I don't even get why she kept repeating "No!". Katie improved so much in season 4. She was the weakest part of season 3 to me.
Gaius risked himself for Merlin again. It's kinda the second time after Le Morte d'Arthur. Their relationship was truly so sweet. In the end, he was Merlin's companion. The Last Dragonlord, The Coming of Arthur, and The Sword in the Stone all ended with Gwen by Arthur's side and Gaius by Merlin's. In the last scenes of the seasons 2 and 3 finales, Arthur and Merlin were together until Gwen arrived and Arthur "forgot" about Merlin. The directors even showed Merlin, now alone, watching Arwen, and looking happy for Arthur but also kinda pitiful, like he got left behind. In the end, Merlin was only Arthur's faithful servant, happy to step back and let Arthur have "all the girls and the glory". All he had was Arthur, who couldn't match that level of devotion. Merlin's number one priority was Arthur but he wasn't really a priority to Arthur. Merlin had Gaius, though, who always showed up just as Merlin was "abandoned" by Arthur. While Merlin loved Gaius, and was happy to have him, he was a poor replacement for Arthur, in the sense that Gaius always gave Merlin the validation he deserved, but what he really wanted was to be seen and acknowledged by Arthur. Everything he did was for Arthur, he sacrificed his own happiness for Arthur's, yet all he got in return was not-so-gentle ribbing. The closest Merlin came to loving someone was Freya and this episode was the second time he saw her. He was never in a relationship or even allowed to have friends. He had the knights, but they weren't his equals and Arthur always came first. Merlin was probably happier than he seemed, but it's pitiful that he was always an observer looking in on someone else's happiness, not sharing it.
Anyway, Merlin and Arthur are cute, but their scenes together got so repetitive. Take this one, for example:
A: You're hopeless at a lot of things, Merlin. Well, most thing, in fact. But very occasionally, quite by accident, you say something useful. [M: Really?] Yesterday, amongst all your gibberish, you said something that, if I didn't know you, I'd be completely fooled into thinking you were... [M: What?] Wise.
Hasn't Arthur made that joke before already? He can never just thank or compliment Merlin. I know that's part of their dynamic, but to have so many scenes like that one... It took him a full minute of "teasing" Merlin to actually get to the point. I wanted to fast-forward their more "affectionate" moments. They stop being sweet after a while. Imo, over time, a lot of their scenes became, not only repetitive, but also... insincere, forced. Like, the humor seemed forced, and Arthur was always so inconsistent with Merlin. Sometimes Merlin was invisible to him, other times they were the best of friends...
