Lost count of how many times I've been told that peafowl don't eat/don't like fish. oh yeah? Tell that to the all-out warfare that breaks out when I bring home feeder fish.
I asked the guy at Petsmart today to grab the biggest fish in the feeder tank, since I saw some real chonkers in there somehow. I wasn't sure the peafowl would go for it, they usually get small ones, but I figured what the hell. I'll get a few, see how it goes. How it went was the fish were too big to be snatched and eaten in one motion, so there was screaming and running away with their prizes and fish being stolen from one beak by another and straight up warfare among babies who have no manners being defended by their moms who have no shame. Aris, who initially turned her nose up at fish, stealing them from her own children as well as from her wife, who was trying to call the babies over to get the fish she found for them, because Aris wanted them so badly, herself.
I can freely admit that it took a couple of tries to get them to try it out, and I had to use the darker grey/black normal "fish colored" fish to start with, and the barn pen birds still aren't sure about it, but it ALWAYS takes a time or two of offering a treat before the peafowl will try something new, and there's always some birds that don't like certain foods. But they are criminally social birds, they are puffin-level social birds, if one bird tries a treat and approves of it, the rest will start agreeing it's a Good Food even if they previously refused to eat it or touch it at all. If the first bird to the treat starts shaking their head and acting like it's bad, they'll all start doing that, usually without even trying it themselves, even if it's something they previously liked. So the trick is just repeatedly offering it until someone goes oh wait, this is delicious, and going from there.

I think besides Himeko, Stelle might get a small litter of her own (or at least multiple babies in one shared litter compared to the other baby mama’s) and just like Himeko, her baby bunnies are CHONKERS.
Every baby in the litter curls up to either Stelle or Himeko’s babies because they’re so big. They’re like the big, fluffy, older siblings of the litter and offer so much comfort and protection 🥺

Your dog is no Cerberus but it is a chonker of a pooch, too big for its own good.
Dante is going to see that dog and decide it’s also his dog. It's love at first sight. (No offence to you).
Dante definitely seems like a dog person and is amazed at how absolutely huge your dog is.
Feeds the dog way too much. The dog is considerably bigger after you introduce the two. You've caught him talking to the dog, feeding him pieces of pizza and muttering "don't tell nobody." (Rodeo has done this.)
Baby talks your dog like it doesn't weigh the same as him.
Is strong enough to hold the giant hound like a baby.
Goes on walks with the dog, with the dog holding its own leash in its mouth since Dante can't be trusted.
Your dog actually loves Dante to bits and will follow him around everywhere.
Vergil
The dog is huge and it's the first thing he notices. He doesn't really have a penchant towards animals but he knows how much you love that dog.
Is absolutely indifferent when the dog jumps up and places its giant paws on his chest.
Awkwardly pets its fluffy head as it licks his face.
The dog grows on Vergil and he'll hold the Yamato in one hand and its leash in the other. One time the dog saw a squirrel and yanked Vergil onto the pavement where he had a moment of embarrassment, just sprawled out on the ground.
Always knows when the dog wants to go on a walk.
The dog doesn't know that Vergil hates being touched but continues to jump up in his lap for pets.
Your dog is the only dog he will tolerate and when there are other aggressive dogs, Vergil's death glare is enough to get them whimpering and running away with their tails between their legs.

Sha Ka Ree by ThereBeWhalesHere
Third and final binding for Annamon (ABT Fanbinding) for the 2022 @renegadepublishing binding exchange ! This is another Kirk/Spock fic, this time they’re stranded together on a planet as well in time.
A 600 page chonker, this is a rounded A5 HB bound in metallic charcoal bookclouth with the title done in silver foil and hot foil quill. I knew I wouldn’t be able to get a sharp and crisply foiled title on there so I decided to lean into the aesthetic and deliberately aim for a tarnished silver look to go with the theme of the fic. The endpapers are pepin press Art Deco, chosen to match the book cloth and because the motif makes me think of search lights. Headbands match the endpapers. I used the same typesetting as for the previous binding but with small adjustments, mainly I used only one Star Trek typeface for titles & running headers/footers. I’m really happy with how this came out!

A Pokemon Trainer gets dropped into the Godzilla/Kong Monsterverse, how much chaos will that one person cause?
People from the Pokemonverse is guaranteed to make any normal person's headspin upon comparing the differences between both worlds. Sure the kaijus close a lot of damage but they are like tidal waves about it. It happens yet not all the time. Meanwhile Pokemon are so common that getting zapped by a electric rat or your neighbors fire breathing dog keeps burning your flowers is normal.
Know that church up the hill? Well a living soul eating candle named Mr Funky lives there and has a habit of stealing people's lunches. A Pokemon Trainer would thinks normal while any Monsterverse character will have a thousand mile stare hearing about it. This is just simple slice of life shit I'm talking about here!
A Pokemon Trainer wouldn't be that surprised or scared encountering an actual kaiju. They'll probably even admire them and throw compliments when you think of it. Godzilla surfaces cause the trainer is radiating some strange aura so he's ready to fight the current nuisance.
He ain't prepared to the discover this new disturbance is just an odd human whose giving the big grumpy kaiju compliments and isn't bat shit terrified about being crushed. I definitely think Godzilla is the type to follow someone if they pique his interest so congrats to the trainer for doing it without bringing out their Pokemon. Although Big G is absolutely a possessive fucker when it comes to claims.
The King of Monsters wouldn't feel so offput by PT's team and instead just sorta feel at home. He doesn't exactly fit anywhere but neither do they. Plus they actually behave and not cause trouble unlike most kaiju he knows.
I'm also the type to indulge in the potential chaos of a kaiju being smitten with a Pokemon. (Goodra, Tyranitar, Baxcalibur are a few choices that haunt me if it involves Godzilla. Big G got two paws with Mothra having one.) MONARCH being driven up the wall as they already have to deal with potential offspring from two different kaiju species. They rather not have a third option be added to the mix.
Also the trainer in question is already impossible to track down. They could have a Pokemon like Solgaleo, Hoopa or Lunala to travel between dimensions with ease. Whose to say the trainer also has a 'mon that can use Teleport to escape every ambush MONARCH sets?
Plus dimensional travel has a habit of acting off at times. Like the Trainer could show up on Skull Island during Kong: Skull Island and then later shows up around the time Ghidorah gets freed. Only common factor is that Godzilla or King Kong is involved.
I'm not forgetting about the Pokemon throwing down against a kaiju either. When you consider Dynamax/Gigantamax/Mega Evolutions/etc exist, size absolutely doesn't matter cause a well trained Maushold can beat up Arceus(Pokemon's equivalent to God) with little issue. A Focus Blast to the face will hurt more than a missile.
Imagine how insane it would get if the Pokemon Trainer can utilize Dynamax on their team whenever and wherever. You do collect Dynamax Energy in the form of Watts, Wishing Stones and Wish Pieces in Sword/Shield. Finding a workaround is possible.
Half of MONARCH is about to quit when that small yellow electric mouse turns into a kaiju sized chonker.

we bought a zoo ass roundup under the cut (aka introducing 80% of my and my partner’s pets)
CATS
sebastian (sebby!). 10yo. the favorite and is very aware he is the favorite. shy around strangers but very sweet and clingy with people he’s familiar with. if one of us is on the bed, he has to be on or touching one of us at all times. very chatty and trills to his name being called every time. will literally let us move and toss him around without complaint he’s so chill. very mean to other cats when there’s treats or catnip involved.
sherlock (sherl!). 9yo. absolute chonker of a cat (20lbs). loves head rubs and belly scratches and WILL demand them if you’re in his sight longer than 5 seconds. announces every time he uses the litter box?? so we’ll know??? has his head in the food bowl or asleep on a pillow 99% of the time. only meows when he’s going to the litter box or wants pets.
prompto (prommy!). 3yo. MENACE. wants to play all the time and will swipe at you if you walk past him too many times in a short time span. thinks any small sudden noise is a toy and will run over to pounce on it every time. teeniest tiniest meow i have ever heard oh my god it’s so cute. likes to snuggle and suckles on patches of his own fur while he does it?? but then he falls asleep while he’s doing it and it’s real cute.
misty (mismis, ms. miss!). oldest animal in the house at 14yo. can’t see very well at all, so we think she’s going blind. very sweet and loves to be around people. comes running in to say hi when she hears us in the kitchen or living room. also loves head and belly scratches. does NOT like other cats so she doesn’t come in the bedroom even though she really wants to :(. we’re worried she’s on her way out.
DOG
rumlow (rum, rummy, rumple!) the only dog ! 3yo. clingiest dog i’ve ever met. literally has to be up someone’s ass at all times if he can see or hear them or he’ll die (whine and bark nonstop). thinks he’s a teeny tiny puppy still and not a 90lbs adult dog and tries to climb into people’s laps. has a big scary bark but is so sweet and lets the cats bully him (he’s terrified of prompto). neediest animal in the house honestly.
BIRDS (idk exactly how old any of them are so they won’t have ages)
matcha. my personal favorite of all the birds (i got to name him). chatty chatty chatty. knows how to say a lot of things but his favorites are “pretty bird” “pretty boy” and “gimme kiss”. he will actually give kisses if you put your finger up to the cage (sometimes he’ll bite instead if he’s hungry or cranky tho so you win some, you lose some). loves to be around people. WILL try to take your phone if he sees it, whether he can carry it or not. loves to splish splash take a bath.
bucky. sweetest of all the birds honestly. only has one little foot so he hops around everywhere. loves the color red and will sing to you if you have something red in front of him. knows the andy griffith theme and the addams family theme. loves head pets. the best flier of all the birds, though he doesn’t do it much. mostly just wants to be held.
pineapple. used to be in the same cage as bucky but bucky didn’t like her so we moved them. she’s still obsessed with him though and spends most of her time staring at him from across the room. pretends to be mean but mellows out after a couple head pets. terrible and landing when she flies and just smacks into shit. the only other bird that likes her is ramen noodle.
ramen noodle. hates everything but his bell toy and pineapple (who doesn’t even like him). very quietly mimics all the other birds and they hate it. usually if the other birds are screeching and we can’t tell why it’s because of him. idk he doesn’t do much else.
apple jack(lyn). i couldn’t get a good picture of her because she’s a bitch and wouldn’t be still. meanest bird of all time. yells at anyone that walks in the room. will try to bite you if you come within 8 feet of her cage. obsessed with her little bell ball toy and will get PISSED if you touch it for any reason. we thought she was a boy but when we found out she wasn’t, she became apple jacklyn instead of apple jack.
you’ve already met snapple in my last ask so i won’t put him here but he looks very similar to apple jacklyn

Went into the owlbear cave near where Edowin was killed, because a little bird (@morganaseren) told me there was a pet we could obtain here. (Y'all know my priorities so well. :P )
And there it is! IDK if this is actually the pet - I'm guessing probably not, but I wouldn't mind if it was. It's cute! What a chonker.
Also distressed. Hopefully we can help it and not get horribly mauled.
I don't think it likes us being here.
Hector completely biffed his attempt at an animal handling check, but did roll a Nat 20 on survival which allowed him to back the fuck up and not engage in combat (which his companions all approved of, presumably because it means they did not become owlbear food).

It's so smol and round look at it.
IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT however - when Karlach leveled up, she took the Wildheart barbarian subclass which, among other things, gives her (trumpet fanfare) Speak with Animals! (Once a day.)
Unfortunately, no one in the party has a very good charisma score and hers is not top of the pack, but we'll give it a go.
The owlbear once again goes into a defensive stance as they approach - but this time, Karlach can hear its voice resonating in her head along with the clicking of its beak.
"What's this? Something weak...something tender... Won't even have to chew you before I feed you to my son, softmeat."
(A/N: And she comes precooked too!)
With the ability to communicate, even if all the communication so far is threats, Karlach is able to draw a little closer - and identify why the creature is so agitated.
"You're injured. There's still half a *spear* lodged in your head."
Acknowledging this, however, does not improve the owlbear's disposition. "It's a splinter. I've gutted bigger threats than you with worse."
OK this isn't working. Reload. (Some googling indicates that without the Animal Handling check or killing the momma owlbear we're not going to get anywhere.) Once again I end up using an inspiration on gaining animal friends and I'm okay with this. :P
(I can't wait to do a druid playthrough, bc I am going to speak with animals ALL THE TIME. XD )

Apparently we have to leave here, having made contact with the momma owlbear. The baby will now appear at the goblin camp of all places. So let's go over there.
Tragically, this does mean fighting all the goblins we avoided dealing with previously. BUT IT'S FOR A GOOD CAUSE.

This was an extremely challenging battle and I'm honestly pretty proud of us for making it through. No sign of the owlbear cub though, so we'll take a long rest (which after that we really needed anyway).
(And then a whole bunch of stuff happened involving Astarion and blood which we will get to in another post because wow.)
A second long rest, however, and...

Also adorable: basically everyone in camp INCLUDING ASTARION approved when I brought it some food. Lae'zel was the only one unmoved by the the small friendshaped ball of fluff.
It ate the food we offered it, and then scampered off into the woods when Shadowheart spoke and startled it.
One more long rest...we're investing a lot of camp supplies in this process. :P
(Also cut for time: a giant fight between Shadowheart and Lae'zel which will also get its own post. I hope everyone's enjoying all the foreshadowing.)

This is Skyfire here. I made a sideblog for my sona Shadowfire.
This blog will be about the wacky shenanigans the void entity gets up to. Originates from Wings of Fire well specifically the fanmade version since I disregard canon so much don't expect much of any of the canon lore to exist too much. I am just converting this into another pokemon irl blog since they deserve to have pokemon.
Now for the basics, out of character stuff is in // or ooc: or maybe with both.

Regular form is first and entity form is the second image. When they travel between worlds they're the second image and the first one when they go into worlds. Though sometimes they become pokemon like corviknight since they might just want to observe. Now onto my raven dragon
Hey there I'm Shadowfire. Welcome to my blog. I use they/them pronouns, I'm like 28-ish maybe 29 I'm not sure. I'm using this blog to mostly just have fun, a bit to check up on other universes and answer questions anyone has.
Currently I've found myself exploring the pokemon worlds, I've been finding some neat pokemon friends. People usually find them unnerving but I love them.
My pokemon include:

Yveltal. I just call them bacon birb, they are so adorable. They love getting scritches and they are very smart.
Giratina. I call them Noodle. I originally got him as an egg from an Arceus after I helped them with something. Noodle is small, and still only like a week old. He's not even close to the size of a dog (an animal from where I'm from).
A(shiny) galarian slowpoke. Her name is Banana, I love her, she sleeps on top of me all the time. She is perfect.
Clodsire. Their name is chonkers. No thoughts behind their eyes, just clodsire.
And that's it for now, I do plan to get more of these pokemon. They're amazing and great companions.

Can you give me a small description of rainworld please? It sounds really cool but I'm not quite sure what it's about yet other than there's slug-cats in it
I'll explain without spoilers, so basically the game is bout you, a scug(another name for slug cat) to survive and sometimes to deliver some things to the iterators who are basically mechanical gods that sometimes use scugs to communicates cause they can't really move.
The scugs that are in the base game are: survivor (white one) monk(yellow) hunter(light red) and another that I won't say cause it's funnier to learn about them yourself. And in downpour (the dlc) the added scugs are spearmaster(ourple) artificer(red)gourmand(ligth orange-yellow chonker) rivulet(blu) and saint (green) they all have a different goal, gourmand's goal is getting food for their colony for example (I can't tell bout the others that would be spoil) also there's iterator drama n shit and super cancer™️

Fun fur or hair styles, i mean like full pompadours, mullets, mohawks, and the fur part is in the same vein as the shaped-ness
Fun shapes like hearts or stars or whatever on like showy off places on the design
something you like in a design too, I'd love to see y'alls preferences and fun stuff you wanna do in this too!
Tortoiseshells and calico's for cats, their so silly i love them :)

itty bitty kitties or big chonkers, no average heights in this household! Same goes for ears, really little or really big! (I like to think that cats with small ears are harder to read and cats with big ears are easier to read expression wise because that's a part of how we tell their emotions)
There's a certain way some people do fluffy fur that is so interesting to me, like long and silky looking with several branching fur strands, its very cool
Unique twists or bits on cat breeds, like looking at a cat breed and saying ill take (cat breed) with some extra interesting trait! If you were like ordering it at a resturant

VA Native Fish Hunting - 21
This was about a month ago, but life has a way of getting away from you sometimes. Back in June, we had two fosters staying with us and we decided it would be nice to spend the day at the local beach where folks hunt for shark teeth. I, of course, also brought nets and traps because who doesn't like going for fishing? No new finds this day, but it was pleasant and we still got some good pictures.
I find Silversides really interesting. The local species have a long neon band across them that makes them eye-catching without being ostentatious. I'm also extremely bad about telling our two local species apart. iNaturalist seems to believe this is an Atlantic Silverside (Menidia menidia) and it's as good an ID as any from my perspective. I hear they make really bad aquarium fish, sadly, as a 125 gallon surf tank is certainly appealing.
I've only ever caught the tinies (like these) and a small (from a year back), but White Perch (Morone americana) are also pretty common in this area. I've never seriously considered keeping them at home, however, due to their being 18 inches at maximum length, give or take. I hear they are cannibalistic as well. Still - fun finds.
And of course I put down a few minnow traps. Who can resist? You place them down, walk away, and hopefully you come up with something cool. It's my favorite way to fish.
Pretty much all we did catch were Mummichogs (Fundulus heteroclitus) though. I'm not complaining - Mummichogs are among my favorite fish for keeping at home. This was a big ol' chonker, over 3 inches. Most of the ones we catch tend to be in the 1-2 inch range.
Another Mummichog, I posted this picture because I think it's neat looking at the color disparity, even among the same species in the same body of water.
And of course, no fishing trip in VA is complete without at least one Eastern Mosquitofish (Gambusia holbrooki)!

High Guardian Spice Redesigns: Mermaid Edition
I just couldn’t stay away. Let’s dive back in (pun very much intended) to some High Guardian seas.
Part 1 and Part 2 of this series covered the show’s general issues and the thought process behind my redesigns in depth, but as a quick recap:
I’ve styled the new art direction after 17th-century woodcuts depicting witchcraft (what with the magic in the story and all)
The master palette is reduced to six base colors, all taken from spices
Everyone’s pupils are now drawn like Snapdragon’s for the sake of consistency and making the art style look more unique
Now let’s look at the results of the mermaid transformation sequence and see what needs improvement:
(Screenshot from this video, and I must say the music and sound effects add some much-needed excitement to the scene, even with the sluggish pacing that holds the animation back.)
For starters, the tail colors seem a bit random. They don’t echo the girls’ hair, skin, eyes, or the clothes they wore on land - with one exception. Parsley’s tail matches her hair, giving me an idea as to how to make the tails more consistent across the board.
Also, the tailfins look pretty generic, like the first thing someone would doodle when they were bored without doing any research. What if the tails were inspired by fish that match each girl’s personality?
Plus, the weight of Parsley’s hammer would make it difficult for her to swim upward, while the water would significantly slow down Thyme’s arrows. And yet they get to keep their weapons while Caraway takes Rosemary’s sword? Yeah, it’d make more sense for them to leave all their usual weapons on land (except maybe Sage’s terrasphere-?) and take light, water-friendly knives for self defense during their mission.
Bit of a nitpick, BUT: I get why Rosemary and Sage’s hair is loose now, since the free-flowing look jives better with the whole mermaid aesthetic. Okay, cool. But if their hair had already been held in pigtails and braids for hours that day, you’d think it’d have more waves in it rather than coming out perfectly straight in the transformation sequence.
(And this is more of a continuity error on the animation side than a design thing, but holy shit I just realized how much longer Rose’s tail is in the final shot compared to seconds earlier in the transformation.)
Enough yammerin’. Let’s get to the redesigns.
In the end I decided to merge the mermaid tails with the skin on their upper bodies, making them the same color. The first three girls’ skin color matches their eyes, though Sage was trickier. Her reddish eye color just made her skin look sunburnt, so I went with a green similar to the one used for the leaf design on her dress. Everyone has the same hair color they did on land (keeping them recognizable despite the major appearance changes), and the transformation now includes gills. Leaning into the fish elements helped me move away from the overdone Disney princess mold.
Speaking of fish, each character’s tailfin is now inspired by specific species.
Parsley- Pufferfish Small and unassuming at first glance, but not one to be trifled with.
Thyme- Barracuda This arrow-shaped fish reminded me of Thyme’s weapon of choice.
Rosemary- Great White Shark Based more on general vibes, really. I think Rose would freak out with glee if she had a tail inspired by one of these badass chonkers.
Sage- Swordfish An allusion to the sharpness of Sage’s mind. (Alleged sharpness, anyway; apparently some of the choices she makes in the show aren’t consistent with this characterization.)
Also, each girl now sports a pair of gloves with gems on them. These are terraspheres customized specifically to make blades appear in the user’s hands (and store themselves again) when she concentrates and performs the proper motions (shown below).
This way, the crew will always have access to weapons when they need them, but said weapons will be much more portable and useful for underwater fights.
As for the original accessories like decorative shells, earrings, tiaras and such... Ehh. They seemed superfluous to me, as they served no purpose other than looking pretty. The whole point of turning into mermaids was to help the undersea folk deal with a dangerous creature, not play dress-up. If a character design element is only present because “it looks cool” rather than serving the story or the character, toss it.
That’s all for now, though in the last High Guardian Spice post, I did mention possibly redesigning the dragons... Hmm.
