one of the things i love about the show is like.
in s1 he's supposed to save this terrible team from relegation, but oops it's a taller order than anticipated and oops maybe he's not quite okay himself
in s2 he slumps back through the door with his tail between his legs and has to admit yeah maybe he fucked some things because yeah maybe his father damaged him a little more than he wanted to say and okay okay, maybe he's actually got a lot of work to do
in s3 he's putting the work in. he's making changes in himself, he's facing his problems and he's doing so well with it that he.....has a complete emotional breakdown. because hey uh *nervous laughter* what do you do once you start letting go of your maladaptive coping mechanisms?? haha no seriously haha how do you be okay now??? and the man he loves has no idea how to help him and can only try to be present with him while he struggles and tries to figure it all out. and ultimately he has to fucking rally and he's gotta pick his whole self up and tell people thank you and tell people fuck you and make the daily choice to move forward with his life.
now am i talking about jamie or am i talking about ted?

Trent/Ted/Beard
polycule headcanon
I’ve got this in my head so this is how I think the Trent/Ted/Beard polycule sleeping dynamics.
Sleeping Style
Ted: Clinger, even while dead asleep. If there is a warm body in his bed he will be tangled against them and grabbing them. Uses weighted blanket when alone. HUMAN FURNACE! But doesn’t need a fan for himself. Early bird
Beard: Doesn’t like to have weight on him, it makes him feel restricted and overheats easily but doesn’t like fans. Can’t sleep if something is on him. Light sleeper. Early early bird.
Trent: Won’t seek out cuddling while asleep but will respond. If he’s left alone he will stay still but will cuddle back while asleep without waking. Constantly cold, sleeps with many blankets. Not a morning person. Deep sleeper.
The Cuddling
Beard/Ted: Ted is allowed one of Beard’s arm and leg to grab. They hold hands while Ted rests his head on Beard’s shoulder and hooks one leg on Beard’s. Beard needs a fan or he will overheat and die. Beard and Ted goof around in bed with they wake up so will often stay in bed and go out for breakfast.
Beard/Trent: Each have their own side. Trent is a blanket hog from being cold before Beard gets him more throw blanket. Beard used Trent’s cold hands as an ice pack if he wakes up hot, Trent sleeps through it. Sometimes one leg or hands will tangle. By the time Trent is awake Beard has breakfast made and his is half eaten.
Ted/Trent: Always holding each other flushed together. Anyway you can cuddle they do. Trent will overheat sometimes so they also have a fan. Ted will wake up first and will stay in bed if Trent is laying on him but will get up otherwise to start their morning.
The Polycule Pile
Middle Trent: Trent as a buffer between Beard and Ted keeps the temperature balanced. No fan needed. Ted and Beard will hold hands across from Trent. Beard and Trent hardly interact, may hold hands if Ted isn’t. In the morning Beard will wait for Ted to wake up before getting out of bed so they can rise together.
Middle Ted: Everyone is overheating. Two fans going and limbs sticking out of blankets if Beard is even under the blanket. Even Ted wakes up in the morning sweaty. Became more tolerable when they just started sleeping with a sheet. Beard gets out of bed as soon as he wakes up to keep the heat from building anymore.
Middle Beard: Doesn’t. He won’t be trapped. Once Ted went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and decided to slip in on Beard's other side and Beard fully rolled Ted over him to be in the middle.

Yeah I've got it. I know why I'm so mad, besides the obvious.
Ted did the one thing he said he would never do.
He quit. He quit on himself.
He sacrified his own happiness to be there for his son. Which is absolutely commendable, and admirable. If not for the fact that in doing so, he will never be able to be the stable, healthy presence his son will need in life to thrive. He left his support system behind. He left Beard. He left Rebecca. He left Richmond and its community. The people who learnt to embrace him wholeheartedly.
Worse than being sad, he is now alone and sad.
Not onward. Not forward.

3x09, part 3.
The symbolism of Ted being the one who starts this and binding them all together. The symbolism of Beard following Ted, just the same way he followed him from USA to UK.
If they don't stop with this tension, I'm gonna beat Isaac's ass. These hands? How it should be. Colin is trying so much, baby boy.
Something something, Jamie struggling with namings and identities and maybe generally being dyslexic? Aside from still being the heart of the team, that sunshine. He's trying.
It makes me think of that "You thought I was the best?" moment. The moment on the bikes where Jamie thanks Roy for doing it for him or "for the team". He's often not sure & I feel that. There is soooo much to Jamie and his personality. I always look for him on the screen before anyone else. I love him.
Can we talk about how previously in the show it was established that Isaac, Colin, and Sam are best friends? And Colin was looking up to Jamie in s1? And in s3 it's obvious that Jamie and Sam are best friends, and Colin and Jamie are actually really good pals, too? I find it VERY curious that both Sam and Jamie get themselves in between Colin and Isaac & it's Jamie who tells Isaac to "Relax." Jamie is such a good boy & my heart is just so full of love for him. Sam is, too, obviously, it's just that my heart belongs to Jamie. :)
*screams* COLIN DESERVES BETTER. The team deserves better, but the tension is fucking REAL.
This is a mess & I'm very sad, but at the same time I'm glad to see that it's Roy who tries to resolve the situation. As an ex footballer that played with this team and now their coach. I can't fully explain it, it just gives me feelings.
!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE this moment. Roy's "Good lad" at Isaac & forcing the security to get that homophobic fan out. Speaking of. Queer Roy? Supportive Roy? Roy whose ex is bisexual and dated a woman and he won't fucking stand for homophobia?
Fast forward to this scene. Roy as the voice of reason, indeed.
Can we discuss that while Isaac is enraged after being called a bunch of faggots, the camera focuses on BOTH Colin and Jamie? Jamie looks at Colin then at Isaac. The boy knows (or at least feels). The boy is also bisexual himself.
My heart belongs to him completely. Emmy winner Phil Dunster when?
No but the drama of Trent always having a pin in his jacket pocket? And the camera focusing on him after the "other f-word" was clarified? Then on Colin?
They went with the poopeh again, huh?
Why does he often has such puppy eyes? I'm— Also, the injured knee. That's football for you.
Yeah, well. That's homophobia for you. As a person that lives in a country where homophobia is legalized by law and queer people are being targeted, I agree, that sucks. But as one person, you can only show your support through socials, I think.
