#TV Sookie can be with Eric if she wants

Random ask, who are your favorite romantic relationship's couples in any media, like anime/manga, tv series, books, etc (can be canon or non-canon)? Feel free if you want to write the reasons or not of why you love them....
I mean…how much time do you have?😏✨ In no particular order:
1) Zoro x Nami (One Piece)
I‘ve been in love with their dynamics from the very beginning: the navigator and the one with no orientation skill whatsoever. Orange and green. They bicker like an old married couple, but respect and trust each other blindly. It started out with Zoro protecting Nami from Buggy’s crew, her helping him out during fights but I fell head over heels for them once the Arlong Arc came around: he read her like a book and trusted her enough to make a point. That sealed the deal. Then he watched over her while she was ill and from there one I noticed how he always looks out for here, making sure she is safe🥺🧡 Just ✨They just make sense to me.
Tumblr media
2) Damon x Elena (TVD)
I actually don’t recall when I started to ship them. It must have been slowly, just before the „fake“ kiss happened when Katherine came back, somewhere between their banter and low key flirting. I think I fell for this ship because of the factor Damon. Him being fiercely loyal and desperate to get Katherine back, only to realize she never loved him and then falling in love with his brother‘s girl. AGAIN. The tragedy and the tension whether Elena would fall for him too, made this so fun to watch. The final nail in the coffin was when he told her, he loved her but compelled her to forget. Oh, and of course the dance…
Tumblr media
3) Sookie x Eric (Sookie Stackhouse Novels)
The moment Sookie laid eyes on Eric for the first time and him shamelessly flirting with her in front of Bill, I was a goner. Bill always gave me an ick feeling. I just never understood why Sookie was interested in him apart from the fact that she couldn’t hear his thoughts. In the books there was always a spark whenever Sookie and Eric met. I liked that Eric was down for anything as long as it involved Sookie (going undercover to an orgy for example), that he was always (brutally at times) honest with her, that he protected and cared for her no matter what. He respected her decisions. There were no silly games between them. As far as vampire feelings for humans go in this universe, I do think he loved her deeply. As for her: she loved him too but also knew that it would never end well. Such a sassy, sexy ship.
Tumblr media
4) Captain Jack Sparrow x Elizabeth
One if my original all-time favourite ships. The sparrow and the swan. I liked their dynamics in CotBP but grew obsessed with them during DMC. Her being restricted by society’s expectations of her and him being the adventurous, clever pirate she had already read about. I mean pleeeeeaaase: the themes alone! She longs for freedom. He and his lifestyle are the definition of freedom. She has a fierce and untamed nature just like the sea. He is in love with the sea. I think Jack brings out her true self just like she brings out his. She matches his scheming talent but I always thought Elizabeth to be more ruthless than Jack. I don’t know what I expected but her ending up alone on an island, married and back in the corset was not it.
Tumblr media
5) Hermione x Draco (Harry Potter)
Another one of my original ships. The muggle born and the son of an old wizard family, who hate muggle borns and are/were loyal to the Dark Lord. The drama, tension and potential storylines with this setup is off the charts. I think I fell for them once the 3rd movie came around. That slap and Hermione urging Hagrid to take Draco to the Madam Pomfrey was pure gold for my shipper heart. I started to get obsessed with them when I read the 4th book and they stumbled upon him during the world cup. I always and forever will read this scene as Draco warning them about the dangers of the Deatheaters disguised behind his typical insults. There were both lines in the movies as well as in the books that always made be believe that Draco might have had a crush on Hermione at some point. I was waiting for a redemption arc in the last book which never happened. I also always thought that Hermione needed a partner who matched her intellect to be truly fulfilled and who appreciated her Slytherin traits (cunning, ambition).
Tumblr media
6) Sakura x Kakashi (Naruto)
So, this is a complicated one. He is 14 years her senior and her sensei. That is problematic. I didn’t ship them when she was a child. BUT: I liked the idea of them, if the circumstances were different (same age or time travel AU). Kakashi seemed to appreciate her intelligence and her talent for chakra control. He never made her feel weak and he always protected her the best he could. During Shippuden his reaction was always shown when Sakura suffered because of Sasuke. And Kakashi looked rather heart broken and sad for her. He watched over her and cared for her during the last battle. The incredulous (at times murdering) look he gave Sasuke when he mistreated Sakura was glorious. His whole mission was to make sure she survived. So, yeah, if the circumstances were different…also the hand on the cheek is canon🥺 Sakura deserved someone who appreciated her love and loyalty.
Tumblr media
7) Claire x Jamie (Outlander)
What I liked about this couple right away (in stark contrast to Frank to whom Claire is married to) was their back and forth, the easiness with which they held conversations with each other and the pure fun they had while doing so. They played off each other without any hassle. Just two people with the same intellect, temper and the same humour hitting it of. This combined with the twist that Claire is the experienced one in all sexual and romantic matters while Jamie is the virgin was absolutely addictive. They just matched. Their chemistry was off of everything that is considered holy.
Tumblr media
6) Hannibal x Will Graham (Hannibal)
At first I enjoyed their strange friendship, which quickly turned into mutual respect. May it be due to the actors or how the scenes between them were written but the chemistry was wild right from the beginning. The classical seduction to the dark side trope with a twist: Will is actually just like Hannibal and fights against the urge to kill but actually understands killing. To him just like to Hannibal it makes sense to kill. It even is beautiful. That dynamic hooked me from day one. The back and forth of their ideals. I think Hannibal was rather quickly aware of his feelings for Will. The fact that Will at first rejected him and his whole being but in the end fell for him as well, was fascinating to watch. Just pure and raw.
Tumblr media
8) Jaime x Brienne (A Song of Ice and Fire)
I love the tropes surrounding this couple: him, beautiful on the outside but ugly inside and her, ugly on the outside but the heart of a true knight inside. Beauty and the best. Their banter and clash of ideals is what attracted me to them (as well Jaime trying to get a reaction out of Brienne with his constant insults and borderline teasing). The way Jaime unknowingly started to grow a soft spot for the wench and slowly opened up to her, losing his hand (his identity as one of the best swordsmen) to protect her virtue all led to the best scene between them: the bath in Harrenhal. I fully shipped them afterwards. It‘s hard to imagine that Jaime had ever been this vulnerable with anyone but his brother before. He keeps on protecting her and she reminds him of his oaths. Just beautiful ✨
9) Buffy x Spike (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
I was so obsessed with them at some point in my life — it wasn’t healthy anymore. First because of the ridiculous sexy way Spike played around with Buffy as his next slayer to kill. He was cunning and dangerous. Later because of how loyal, funny and good he was even without a soul. Him being a hopeless, awkward romantic while Buffy was straight to the point was a fun dynamic. In the later seasons I felt sorry for him because of how he was used and treated by Buffy but at least he got to go out like a true hero.
Tumblr media
10) Beth x Daryl (The Walking Dead)
This was an unexpected one. I liked Daryl as a character but Beth was just a girl in the background who cut her arms. They were pushed together for a few episodes and because their views on life and their experiences were so different, it created this interesting dynamic. Somehow they worked. Daryl helped her get stronger and Beth helped him to deal with his emotions. She was innocent. He was rugged and beaten down by life. There was something delicate between them that was never allowed to grow.
Tumblr media
13) Rae x Finn (My Mad Fat Diary)
Just two nerds obsessed with Oasis and each other. Typical teenager drama. Because of her seize and her body and mental issues Rae doesn’t think she deserves Finn or that he is even interested in her. She convinces herself to the point that she gives her v-card to another guy around her body seize. Finn on the other hand has already decided that he likes Rae and is all cute and touchy with her. The cuteness of their relationship and Finn‘s straight forward „Idk what your problem is but I like you just the way you are“ endeared me to this couple. Also Rae is hilarious.
14) Asoka x Rex (The Clone Wars Series)
Another problematic ship due to her being his superior and him being (at least) physically older when they were first introduced to each other. I think it‘s the fact that Order 66 looms on the horizon and all the drama and heartbreak that comes with it, what got me into this ship. Asoka transforms from an insecure padawan who gets her squad killed into a formidable force user and along the way she earned Rex‘ respect. Plus I‘m a sucker for how fierce she gets every time Rex is in trouble/attacked. They protect and care for each other and if they weren’t Jedi and Clone I could totally see them as a power couple.

I really like the snippets of the SVMs that you post, but I can’t help but think about how by the end of the series Charlaine Harris just decided to destroy the character of Eric. I read those last few novels and just fumed with anger. Were you happy with how they turned out?
You are absolutely correct, anon. Was I happy with how they turned out? Absolutely not. I have a lot of bones to pick with Charlaine Harris about what she did to Eric Northman, but more importantly, I have a lot of bones to pick with Sookie.
Initially, I thought that the problem in the latter books was that Harris got lazy with everyone's characterization when she was contracted to write three more novels and started writing these characters in ways that were inconsistent. Certainly, there are a few instances where Eric is portrayed in a manner inconsistent with earlier books. (He loses a lot of his humor and charm and suddenly has a very different perspective on the possibility of turning Sookie, which I attribute to bad writing.) But as I went back in the series to compile these quotes, I noticed that the problems I had with Sookie's character in the latter books manifested much earlier. I have been trying so desperately to wrap my head around her behavior, and I have come to the following conclusions about Book Sookie, which are not necessarily applicable to TV Sookie...
(major spoilers and an unedited 4,000 word essay ahead)
Sookie's mind-reading abilities have stunted her ability to read and empathize with others without the use of her powers.
The magical bond that is formed when she and Eric exchange blood circumvents this while it is active, enabling Sookie to feel Eric’s emotions rolling off him at the time. She knows he is terrified when his maker arrives in book 10, and she is even able to identify precisely why he is frightened: he doesn’t want to be under someone else’s control. But after she severs their bond in book 11, her ability to read him fails her. She has spent her entire life reading people’s minds, which has served as a crutch. Rather than developing the intuitive ability to read a person’s body language and read between the lines of what they are saying that most of us learn, Sookie relies on her abilities, which don’t work on vampires. As a result, their motives are often mysteries to her. She notes how stony-faced they are, how carefully controlled they are in expression, but she misses a lot of cues that convey their repressed feelings. This is particularly bad for Eric, who, like many men, shields himself with anger when he is feeling hurt. His anger is not excessive or violent—in fact it is often very well controlled—but it masks the tender feelings that hide under the surface. It is telling that Sookie never acknowledges the incredible pain and betrayal that Eric must feel when she severs their blood bond, or when she ultimately refuses to save him from being taken away from her. The only time she feels sympathy toward him in that respect is in one line at the very end of the series where she considers how lonely he will be—and then she purposefully smothers that thought, refusing to dwell on it further.
Sookie's trauma from her formative relationship with Bill renders her suspicious of the motives of others and unable to trust her future partners.
Bill is the first man she ever dated, fell in love with, or had sex with, and it is revealed to her through Eric’s intervention that their entire relationship was premised on a lie. This plot point is the same in the book as it is in the TV show. Once Sookie and Eric are together, there are numerous instances where she suspects his motives. She maintains the firm belief that Eric never does anything unless it would be beneficial to himself, which is probably true up to a point, but even after he has shown that he is deeply in love with her and that he has borne the personal cost of this love, she still doubts him. In fact, Sookie believes that the love they seemingly share is only the result of the magical blood bond between them, which renders it false. Eric repeatedly states that he does not care why he loves her, only that he does, but this is a problem that Sookie cannot get past. It results in her severing their bond without warning. Once the bond is severed, she insists that she does still love him “all on her own” but her love quickly begins to erode without the understanding that the bond created as they are besieged by numerous calamities. When the final obstacle to their love presents itself—a contract negotiated by Eric’s maker that would force him to marry the vampire Queen of Oklahoma against his will—Sookie is so blinded by her inability to trust him that she doubts every word he says about wanting to stay with her. He never expresses a desire to leave her for the queen, but remains stalwart in his insistence that he cannot escape the contract despite seeking every possible loophole. Yet Sookie believes he is attracted to the queen and the power that she possesses and attributes his insistence that he is trapped in the contract to a clever lie designed to dupe her. In the final days of their relationship, Eric reveals that he knows Sookie could save him with a magical object that grants her one wish, and repeatedly insists that she could stop him from being taken from her if she wanted to. He does not ask her to do it, nor does he mention the object explicitly, or ask where it is. His statements read like a man who is wounded by his lover’s unwillingness to save him, but one who perhaps has too much dignity to resort to begging her to intervene. Presumably he believes that he should not have to beg the woman who says she loves him to save him from “cushy slavery,” as Sookie calls it. Once Sookie realizes that Eric knows about her magical deus ex machina, she starts to wonder if he really just wants to take it from her, or use it for himself. She even entertains the possibility that maybe he orchestrated the entire dilemma in order to get his hands on it. When the thought enters her head, she admits that she never would have considered such a thing if it weren’t for Bill’s betrayal of her.
Sookie's affection for Eric is conditional upon his usefulness to her (including as a sexual object), and she never develops an appreciation or understanding for who he is as a person.
Perhaps this is the fatal flaw in their relationship from the very beginning. Sookie does not express an interest in Eric other than the fact that he is physically attractive until his numerous favors to her and the many instances where he has saved her life or protected her begin to add up. The blood bond between them is formed when he prevents a vampire who has authority over him from forcing blood on an unwilling Sookie, instead offering his own blood as a substitute. Their marriage was orchestrated by Eric when another vampire wanted to take Sookie away from her own against her will, and it allows Eric to serve as a barrier to any other vampire who would try to harm her. Once their romantic relationship is formed in earnest, it quickly becomes evident that it is lopsided. Eric praises Sookie for her beauty, but also for how brave she is and how hard she works and countless other virtues that are not physical in nature. In return, Sookie feels obligated to pay him a compliment, and all she can manage is that he has a nice body and is good in bed. She often deflects from serious conversations with him to have sex instead. Sookie clearly doesn’t believe Eric is a good person, expressing her own doubts about his moral code when he doesn’t display enough outward moral repugnance for her liking. When Eric tells her how his boss tortured and killed a human woman to punish a vampire, she asks him how the story made him feel. His answer—that it made him fearful it could happen to Sookie—is not good enough for her because he does not also express remorse for the woman in question. (It should be noted that he doesn’t revel in her pain either; he is merely concerned with applying the moral of the story to his own circumstances and the woman that he loves.) Sookie does not seem to acknowledge the good that other people attribute to Eric, such as when his new bartender tells her she requested to come work for him. Sookie cannot imagine why anyone would want to work for Eric, but the vampire explains that he is a good master to serve because he treats his people well, specifically pointing out that he doesn’t ask for sexual favors from his female subordinates like other sheriffs do. Sookie is not interested in his life, his business, or his world. When he attempts to explain the elaborate hierarchy of vampire politics to her in an effort to include her more in his affairs, she outwardly expresses so much disinterest that Eric takes offense. Their relationship treads water for a while, until Sookie is kidnapped and tortured by fairies and Eric is prevented from rescuing her. While she is being tortured, Sookie is certain that Eric will show up at any moment, but she doesn’t know that he has been forbidden from intervening by his boss. The other vampires bind Eric in silver chains to keep him from going to save her. He later tells her how anguished he was that he could feel her pain and do nothing to protect her, shedding tears as he talks about it, but she doesn’t want to hear it. That moment marks a turning point in their relationship. Sookie repeatedly affirms that she believes Eric is so big and strong and capable of handling anything, and any time he is not able to deliver on her expectations, she loses even more love for him.
Sookie's prejudice against vampires leads to her treating them as though they are not people.
Although Sookie does not express her prejudice explicitly as some characters do, she still exhibits a bias against vampires throughout the books and expresses a clear preference for humans or shapeshifters. She is disgusted, for example, by Eric’s suggestion that she should come work at Fangtasia, saying that she would hate to watch the fangbangers seek the attention of the undead among them. She believes that they do not feel emotions or possess empathy in any comparable measure to humans. (The thought that not all humans share the same depth of emotion or empathy does not seem to occur to her.) She also discounts their physical pain or suffering because they possess the ability to heal themselves. This happens numerous times when Eric is wounded, often while trying to protect her. In one case, Eric shoves himself in front of a car window and takes a bullet intended for her point blank. While he is injured, he fights off the werewolf who was trying to kill Sookie. Then he gets back in the car and drives her home with the bullet still lodged inside his chest. When they arrive back at her house, he asks her for blood, saying explicitly that he is in pain as his body pushes the bullet out of his chest. She tells him he’ll be fine and if he really needs it, he should stop at Merlotte’s and get some True Blood on his way home. Another time, Sookie comes upon Eric after he has been badly beaten and bound with silver. His arm is broken and his hands, she notes, look gruesome, because the silver was wrapped around them. As soon as she frees him, he springs into action and decapitates the vampire who had attacked him before said vampire can go for Sookie, who gets faint at the sight. (She is not injured.) Eric picks her up even though his arm is broken, and she takes the opportunity to internally romanticize the moment, imagining that she is Scarlet O’Hara. But a short while later, she asks Sam to drive her home without thinking about offering Eric a bottle of True Blood even though they’re right in front of the bar. The most egregious example of this phenomenon occurs when Eric’s vampire brother has massacred all of the staff at his home. Sookie arrives to find several vampires and humans slaughtered on the premises while Eric is desolate and in excruciating pain with his ribs ripped through his chest. He tells her that he needs her to push his ribs back into place and that Pam was there as well, and Sookie proceeds to chastise him for not springing into action to go after his brother. When tears form in his eyes, she grows impatient and questions why he hasn’t called someone to come clean up yet. It isn’t until midway through the conversation that she tells Jason to push Eric’s ribs in so he can heal, and it is only on accident that Jason happens to find Pam, who is thankfully not dead.
Sookie's system of morals is so rigid that, when she participates in violence, she suppresses her own personal responsibility and projects blame on the people around her in order to continue believing that she is a good person.
After the massacre referenced in the paragraph above, Eric and Sookie must fight his crazed brother and several fairies at her house, slaying his maker in the process. When they are victorious, Sookie is immediately revolted by the bloodshed. Eric, meanwhile, is flooded with relief that he is free of his maker, who subjected him to hundreds of years of rape and slavery when he was first turned into a vampire. Sookie knows this, and in fact can feel the emotions radiating from him, but she seems to despise Eric for feeling anything but repugnance in that moment. This appears to be her coping strategy any time she participates in violence—she negates her own culpability and creates moral distance between herself and Eric by judging his reaction to be grotesque. The same thing happens when they are able to kill the brutally cruel vampire regent who was actively trying to ruin Eric and was responsible for attempts on Sookie’s life and who refused permission for Pam to turn her human lover into a vampire before she died. Eric and Pam are joyous that they have won and that the regent cannot torment them any longer. Sookie, who helped plan the attack and in fact dealt part of the killing blow to the regent, is abruptly disgusted when Eric embraces her and kisses her. It does not occur to her that he might be relieved that she was unharmed in the battle and that the constant threat to them all has been eliminated. Instead, she assumes that he’s trying to have sex with her and tells him she’s not interested in a manner that clearly conveys her revulsion. Eric does not handle the conflict gracefully, and bites her harshly to drink from her after he tells her she’s being a hypocrite, which only gives her more reason to push her guilt away and project it onto him.
Sookie’s youth and inexperience serves as a barrier to navigating the turbulent waters of a real relationship.
Sookie had never been in a relationship before Bill, and she only has one other relationship between breaking up with Bill and getting together with Eric. While she enjoys the ‘honeymoon’ phase of her relationships, she flounders when it comes time to address communication issues or outside pressures. Neither Sookie nor Eric find it easy to establish an open channel of communication, but Sookie actively seeks to end serious conversations early or avoid them altogether, while being stunned that Eric initiates conversations about their relationship, something that she thinks all men avoid. At one point, she tells Eric that they need to talk and then starts discussing what she refers to as their “irreconcilable differences.” The conversation seems to be veering into breakup territory, and they’re deeply involved in it when someone knocks on her door. She immediately invites her unexpected guests in and is relieved by the excuse to terminate the conversation abruptly even though Eric is still trying to figure out what’s going on. At other times, she observes that she loves Eric, but she’s not feeling the same lust or excitement when she thinks about him anymore. Anyone who has ever been in a long-term relationship knows that passions often wax and wane, and that it also takes work to sustain and strengthen a relationship over time. Sookie is unwilling to put in the work or even have an honest discussion about the things they need to work on. She talks about romance novels a lot, and it seems to me that she has an idealized concept of love where she believes that they should be effortless and that passions should always be as hot as they were at the beginning. There are also times when she behaves in an extremely childish manner in the midst of conflict. After she severs the magical bond between her and Eric, he comes to her house and her main concern is whether or not he’s mad, while he asks her if she still loves him. She stubbornly insists he has to answer her question first even though she’s the one who broke the bond. On another occasion, Eric’s king comes into town and he is required to be at the monarch’s beck and call. Sookie gets mad at him and tells him she doesn’t want to see him one day, then is even more irritated that he isn’t calling her the next. Soon after, Eric is dealing with an endless litany of personal disasters that he can’t control, and he is short with her. Sookie listens to him confide in her about his problems and then responds with sharp-edged, sarcastic contempt, telling him that she has information that might have helped him with his problems and she might have told him if he wasn’t neglecting her.
Sookie’s limited understand of cultures that are unlike her own leads to misguided assumptions and fatal misunderstandings.
As the books progress, Sookie’s knowledge about vampire culture and governance grows incrementally, but she never approaches their customs with the same open-mindedness that she uses when it comes to werewolves or shapeshifters and their customs. This proves to be a major problem in her relationship with Eric, where there are two unfamiliar cultures at play—the modern culture of vampires, and the ancient culture of Eric’s human life. Sookie often refers to Eric as her “big Viking,” but she never gleans any insight about the culture in which he was raised. She seems to believe that he does not have much respect for women and projects American pre-Women's liberation attitudes on him even though he does not express those beliefs. When he offers to have her come live with him, she assumes that he wants her to be a housewife who cooks and cleans for him. She takes offense, and Eric is confused by her response. As Sookie’s situation becomes more perilous and she is injured multiple times in attacks at Merlotte’s, Eric asks her repeatedly to come live with him and/or work at Fangtasia so that he can protect her. She rebuffs these proposals, believing that they are rooted in misogyny. Sookie is also disinterested in understanding vampire culture, tuning Eric out when he explains things to her and refusing to accept that their rules and customs are different from her own when they inconvenience her. In particular, she never seems to understand the feudal system of governance under which the vampires live. When Eric is obliged to obey his maker or wait on his king or queen, Sookie is consistently irritated that he is not paying enough attention to her. She either does not understand or will not accept that vampires are not free to do whatever they want. This becomes a huge problem in the latter three books after a king from another state annexes Louisiana and kills every sheriff except Eric, putting him in a precarious position. Backed into a corner, he must maneuver very carefully to protect himself and everyone who is loyal to him. At the same time, he learns that his maker entered into a contract to marry him to the vampire Queen of Oklahoma against his will. Sookie refuses to believe Eric when he tells her that there is no way out of the contract, repeatedly insisting that if he loved her enough, he would just refuse to honor it. She holds him to the standards of her own culture, remaining willfully ignorant of the horrible consequences that could befall them both if Eric were to disobey. When she learns she can intervene and save Eric from his fate, she refuses, adamant in her belief that he will find his own escape clause if he truly wants to. The end result of her refusal is that Eric is forced into 200 years of “cushy slavery,” as Sookie calls it, a fate that does not inspire any guilt or pity in her, presumably because she still sees herself as a jilted lover.
At the end of the day, Eric deserved a lot better than Sookie.
He also deserved a lot better from the author, and a lot of people were justifiably outraged with the ending that Charlaine Harris gave to him. Harris, by way of Sookie, repeatedly reminds the reader that the Queen of Oklahoma is a very attractive woman, and it seems that this is intended to excuse the fact that Eric would be contractually obligated to have sex with her whether he wanted to or not. Eric expresses no desire for the queen, constantly asserting his commitment to and love for Sookie. When he admits that he would be required to consummate the relationship with the queen, he seems discomforted and ashamed at the idea. (Harris specifically uses the word “abashed.”) It is revealed to Sookie that the queen conspired to put Eric in this predicament specifically because she knew he valued his independence too much to ever agree to it willingly. Sookie knows that Eric was forced to service his maker sexually against his will, and that what he hates above all else is to be subjugated. She also knows that he will not be a monarch if he marries the queen; he will be her consort, a position that carries with it no inherent power or authority unless the queen gives it to him, and he will not be able to ever succeed her. Even despite all of this, Sookie is completely unsympathetic toward Eric. The author never acknowledges that this ending for Eric essentially means that he will be raped. What astounds me is that I don’t think she would have made his choice for a female character, or if she did, she would not have framed it in the same way. Sookie’s casual dismissal of Eric being sold into “cushy slavery” implies that male rape is no big deal, which is incredibly harmful. It is astounding that she would subject the primary love interest of the entire series to such a fate, and it’s the final nail in the coffin for Sookie Stackhouse for me, at least in her book incarnation. If any of her other love interests had been put in similar circumstances, I can’t imagine what she would not do to try to save them. But because it was Eric—her big, strong Viking who she believes is incapable of feeling emotions or pain and must be invincible in order to be valued by her—Sookie thinks nothing of it. Nothing at all.

True Blood Season 2 vs. Living Dead in Dallas
TV SHOW
GODRIC MY BELOVED
The relationship between Eric and Godric never fails to give me the warm fuzzies!
Jessica and Hoyt are just too precious together and it breaks my heart because I know what comes later in the show.
Eric is such a dramatic bitch and I love him for it!
Still don't like Sam, but he didn't deserve what Daphne did to him.
Bill being an oblivious idiot. Like of course Eric wants Sookie! He's wanted her since she walked into his bar.
Bill/Lorena is fucked up! Someone stake that bitch.
BOOK
1. I don't like Godric/Godfrey in the book. He comes off as very self-righteous and the whole time he was speaking I was like "Oh my god. Please stop talking!"
2. Sookie watches Godric/Godfrey die, so they at least have that in common.
3. The outfit Eric wears to the orgy...and once again being a dramatic bitch. 😂
4. Luna, a shapeshifter, is mentioned. I'm pretty sure she pops up later in the TV show. The same with Holly.
5. Stan is a nerd instead of a cowboy.
6. The hotel is called "The Silent Shore". I think I prefer "Hotel Carmilla". At least that one is a reference to one of the most famous vampire stories.
7. Callisto/the Menaed attacks Sookie as a message to Eric? Like what even was the point of this? The whole Menaed thing is kind of glossed over in the end. Very anti-climactic.
8. Tara exists, but she's engaged to Eggs (who doesn't die to my knowledge).
9. PAM LIKES GEEKS/NERDS. EXCUSE ME? TV Pam would never.
10. Eric still tricks Sookie into drinking his blood. Sneaky bastard.
11. Eric showing up in Dallas just to keep an eye on Sookie and Bill
12. The Dallas vamps own a club
13. Sookie is the one who sees the Menaed and the pig, instead of Tara/Andy Bellefluer
14. Jason plays a little, to non-existent role in this book since he wasn't involved with the Fellowship of the Sun.
15. I will never understand why Eric loaned Sookie to the Dallas vamps in the first place. Like, why does he care that Godric/Godfrey is missing? He's not his Maker in the books.
Stand-out quote: "Angelic Sookie, Vision of Love and Beauty, I am prostrate that the wicked, evil, Menaed violated your smooth and voluptuous body in an attempt to deliver a message to me." - Eric
This one was a long one as you can see. Season 1 was much more accurate to the source material, while Season 2 was like "Fuck, that." If memory serves me correctly, it just gets worse from here. I'm interested to see how Season 3 and "Club Dead" shape up.

• Smol x Tol is a requirement not a request
• Arranged marriage AU queen 👑
• No one else challenges me mentally or physically but you
• Bodyguard AU’s (bonus points if her parents are never around and she’s a Poor Little Rich Girl™️)
• We meet in our dreams AU
• Somehow I keep falling into another plane or realm and you only exist there and “we” only exist there and slowly I start to spend all my time and energy on being with you and completely losing my whole life in the “real world”
• Captive/Captor AU’s (think Briseis and Achilles but I’m not above a good old fashioned bank robbery gone tits up I’m an equal opportunity slut for Stockholm Syndrome)
• We had a past life together and we only remember flashes but the energy is still there between us and it’s undeniable - however, being together would completely dismantle our present day lives
• This can’t last and it’s not meant to, but I’ve been through a lot and you’re a very nice resting place for now
• I’m a brat, but vulnerable only with you. You’re an asshole, but soft only with me. I don’t hate anyone else but you. But I don’t love anyone else either.
• We’ve both been through trauma no one else understands so we don’t really know how to trust or love anyone else, but no one would ever be accepting of us being together (yes I meant to google Lucrezia and Cesare Borgia)
• Honestly, anything where the shtick is ‘we’re really not supposed to be doing this’ bonus points for sneaking around and loads of pining angst about it

From “Through the Lake”, a Grishaverse fic I wrote 5 years ago but never posted (Darkling x OFC)
They’ve begun travelling now. He likes to stay diplomatically relevant. Likes to be known to the kings and queens of lands beyond Ravka. Because the otkazat’sya Lantsov king is weak and stupid. She knows. She’s met him many times. And she met his father before him. She’s dined with their ambassadors and danced with their advisors (Shadow likes to show her off as his little relic. His little stolen child, kept as a pet the same way fairies of old would keep children from her world. It is also a very clear piece on the chess board. Look what I have. Look what she can do. Know your place).
“Lantsov is lucky anyone even continues to acknowledge him as king. If I were a queen, the only diplomat I would sit down with is you.” She’s known her Shadow a hundred years now. She cannot fathom why anyone still bows to the Lantsov king.
“Do I not treat you with all the adoration and reverence due a queen?” He asks in response, ignoring her statement for the moment. Though it strokes something warm and needy inside him to hear her say it.
They’re in Kerch. A disgustingly wealthy merchant’s villa is their home for the night. At his table they dined on sweet-buttered grouse and roasted kale and salted caramel cake.
The back of his ungloved finger traces her neck as she takes her jewelry off and lets her hair down. The touch flares her power with a shivering thrill of electricity. Unable to help herself, Jo flexes her abilities enough to let him know not to push her. The air in the room compresses for a moment until all sound is narrowed down, resting on the pin of a needle and ringing in his ears. Thirty seconds go by. Finally, she lets up and he has to grip the window sill as his lungs drag desperately for oxygen.
“What?” He half snarls, half chokes. Jo is shown more favor than anyone else at his court by far. He’s never lavished another with the same attention and devotion he pours over her. He’s never trusted anyone enough to allow them so close. But he’s careful to keep her loyalties where they belong. Uses her power to keep the other Grisha in check. To keep their eyes fixed with jealousy so they’ll never look upon her with love. So she has no other confessional but him. So she can never hold anything she knows to his throat. Even if she thought to overthrow him and seize power for herself, they would never follow her. They’d wear her bones first.
“You know what. Do not dare to play the victim with me.” They argue as if they’re married. And maybe in a way they are. Promises forever unbroken. Loyalty carried to the grave. Secrets pressed between them for centuries, that no one else could ever unfold.
Swallowing, he swipes away the blood dripping from his nose with the handkerchief in his pocket. Glances out the window, partly guilty and partly annoyed that the girl can even make him feel guilt.
“You know why I can’t let you stay.” They’ve been over this a hundred thousand times. He won’t have her for one lifetime when he needs her power for much longer than that. And perhaps, a part of him needs her to be hungry for him. To know she’s in Duluth salivating at the mouth to get back here. Perhaps he’s scared that if he gives her all she wants of him, of Ravka, she’ll have her fill and go back for good.

Thank you for posting more information about the books, I never intended to read them because I had heard there was never a happy ending but I had not know how bad it was I may have read until the story got bad and then stopped.
No problem! I’m glad the posts are informative to you. If you want more information about them, @exitpursuedbyasloth and @stillhidden give more details in their posts about the SVM books, what went down in them, and the way Charlaine Harris behaved when she finished the series.
I know it’s common these days to bash the show and hold up the books as a paragon of virtue, but there are a lot of problems in the books that get glossed over by fans.
I will warn you this will go into SPOILERS from the books, so brace yourself!
For one thing, there’s the way Bill was handled in the books. If you thought he was bad on the show, you’re not going to like him in the books. The twist with Bill working to procure Sookie for Queen Sophie Anne is still in the books, but the big difference is that a.) The twist comes several books after Bill and Sookie have broken up, and b.) Unlike in the show, Bill straight up RAPES Sookie in the back of a truck. And yes, it is as horrifying as it sounds. It’s almost like that scene from season 3 when Bill attacks Sookie in the truck after they escape Russell’s mansion (although there are differences in plot details between the books and the show), except in the book he nearly drains her and then proceeds to rape her afterwards. We’re suppose to believe that Bill was out of control in that moment and didn’t know what he was doing, but the problem is that the way the scene is written makes it seem like Bill had a lot more control over his actions than he wants to admit to. I can provide a passage from the book if you want me to, but I will warn you that it’s both disturbing and triggering.
To make matters worse, even after Bill raped Sookie and it was revealed he was working for QSA, not only did Charlaine Harris still choose to keep Bill’s character around despite having no reason to be in the story anymore, but she also attempted to retcon/downplay the severity of what Bill did to Sookie. For instance, the later books tried to claim that what happened in the truck was “attempted rape,” as if to say that Bill was going to rape Sookie but didn’t go through with it. That is not what happened. HE RAPED HER. There’s no way to read that scene in book 3 and tell me that rape did not occur there. Then there’s a scene in a later book (Dead Reckoning I think) where she gets naked with Bill (long story) and proceeds to have a naked tickle fight with him in spite of the fact that he previously raped her. 🤢🤮 Then (for some inexplicable reason) Sookie continues to be friends with Bill after he raped her and betrayed her, and the later books try to portray Bill like he’s this great neighbor Sookie is lucky to have.
In other words, it’s like what the show did with Bill in season 7 where they still tried to make him look like a decent person after all the awful stuff he did. Either way, it failed miserably.
And then there’s a bunch of other problems the books had. For instance:
1.) Godric in the books is named Godfrey, he has no connection to Eric, and he’s a pedophile/child-rapist who handed himself over to the Fellowship of the Sun. The books try to make Godfrey sympathetic by painting him as a tragic figure who can’t control himself, and even Sookie feels bad for him. The problem though is that he still raped kids. There’s no way to make that sympathetic, and it’s hard to give a shit about whether or not Sookie saves him or if he lives and dies (Spoilers: He burns to death).
2.) There’s the questionable treatment of the LGBT+ characters in the books. Unlike in the show, Lafayette gets killed off in an orgy-fueled fuckfest offscreen. Pam has a relationship with a terminally ill lesbian cancer patient. There’s a werepanther named Mel who is gay and has this creepy stalker crush on Jason. Claude (Sookie’s faerie cousin) is gay in the books, and yet wants to rape Sookie because she’s not attracted to him. There’s also him not knowing what homophobia is despite being alive for hundreds of years, and having been on Earth for quite a while. What I’m saying is that all of Harris’s LGBT+ characters are either killed off, are barely given focus, or are portrayed in a problematic light.
3.) There’s also the convoluted nature of the faeries in the books. Claude is basically a one-dimensional cartoonish villain that wants to hurt Sookie and Eric because of poorly explained reasons. He’s not even a “love to hate” villain. He’s just obnoxious and pointless. Niall is in the books, and there’s this entire thing about him wanting to close the portal between the human world and faerie world, but he still keeps coming back for some reason. In one of Harris’s short stories Gift Wrap, Niall basically sends this faerie named Preston Pardloe as a gift for Sookie for Christmas, and said faerie proceeds to “magic her” (i.e. roofie her) into having sex with him and then makes her completely forget about it later. In other words, Niall sent someone who ends up raping his own granddaughter, but the story never treats it like it’s actually rape. Then, there are these two sadistic faeries who show up at one point. They crucify Crystal when she’s pregnant with Jason’s kid, and then proceed to torture Sookie for shits and giggles. And yes, it’s awful and unnecessary.
For all the bitching and moaning I’ve heard about the faeries on True Blood, the ones in the books were nothing to brag about. If anything, the moment they were introduced is the moment the books took a nosedive in quality. And since these weren’t well-written books to begin with, it didn’t bode well for the rest of the series.
4.) There’s also how rape culture gets perpetrated in these books. Bill rapes Sookie, but Sookie still remains friends with him and even goes to him for relationship advice. Niall sends Preston to Sookie as a Christmas gift, and a rape scene takes place, but it’s not framed as rape for some reason. Tara gets raped by a vampire (it’s not Franklin like it is on the show, but a different vampire named Mickey), and she’s victim-blamed for it. Eric had a sadistic maker named Appius who raped him for years and actually manages to get the last laugh over Eric by the final book. There’s a vampire kid named Alexei who’s a rape victim that ends up going crazy and becomes a serial killer, and gets put down like a dog. Then there’s  Eric getting sold off as a sex slave in the final book (more on that in a second).
Also, you remember that graveyard scene between Sookie and Bill in the first season? In the books, it’s much worse: Sookie has sex with Bill because he is so angry in that moment that she’s scared he’s going to hurt her and is afraid for her life. He basically rapes her in the graveyard. But again, FOR SOME REASON, it’s not referred to as a rape scene.
5.) Then there’s the last book: Eric gets sold off into sexual slavery by his maker to the Queen of Oklahoma, and is forbidden from ever seeing Sookie again. The books try to downplay the severity of this, but at the end of the day, Eric is expected to get into a relationship with the Queen, and he doesn’t get a choice in the matter. Sookie is surprisingly unsympathetic towards Eric over this, and they get into a huge fight about it, and Sookie contemplates having revenge sex with Bill to get back at Eric. There’s this stupid plot where Arlene is murdered and Sookie gets framed for it on flimsily evidence, and there’s this really cliché court room scene where everyone shows up to support Sookie as a way of propping her up. Bill gets his revenge on Eric for spilling the beans about his mission from QSA by revealing a secret to Sookie about Eric and Sam. Sookie gets kidnapped at a square dance by Claude, Steve Newlin, and some other guy (I can’t remember his name) and there’s this idiotic car chase scene where the bad guys are incompetent, and they’re being tailed by several other cars, and everything about this scenario is embarrassing. The last book does what the True Blood series finale did where everyone gets paired off and there’s a marriage ceremony and everyone starts having kids because that’s the only way to be happy apparently. Sookie gets into a relationship with Sam, and whatever relationship she had with Eric in the previous books is thrown out the window. The End.
If you want a review that’s both hilarious and points out other problems with the last book, look up the review Fangs For The Fantasy did on “Dead Ever After.”
6.) There’s also Sookie herself. People talk about how she’s this great character in the books and so much better than the TV show version. While she certainly has cool moments in the books, I thought she was pretty unlikable. There are multiple instances in her narration where she comes off as judgmental, myopic, and nasty. The books never really challenge her on her biases, and she barely has any character development by the end of the series (no, getting raped and tortured does NOT count as character development 😒). There’s also some pretty questionable moments from Sookie where she comes off as cold instead of empathetic. Her interaction with Eric in the final book is an example of this: She basically victim-blames him for being sold off to the Queen of Oklahoma (even though he didn’t have a choice in the matter), and instead of being called out for this, the book tries to portray Eric as the asshole in this situation.
7.) For all the complaining about the way the show handled new characters, people forget that Charlaine Harris introduced characters into the books that either weren’t fleshed out, were one-dimensional, or were only referenced by name with little development past that.
There are other problems as well (plot-holes, inconsistencies, bad writing, etc), but I think I’ve covered the gist of it. Yes, True Blood had a lot of issues, but whenever I see people (mostly on Reddit) who try to act like the books were flawless, my eyes roll to the back of my head 🙄🙄🙄🙄. Many of the problems that plagued the TV show had their origins in the books, and chances are if they do go through with a reboot, those issues will resurface.
As you can tell, I am not a fan of the books, and I do not recommend them. But that’s just my opinion.

True Blood 7x01
OKAY I have absolutely no idea what they are trying to do with Sookie for this season. Like... why do all the townspeople blame her for the H vamp raid?? Like.... do they think she is the cause of hep V? I... what? It straight up doesn't make sense and what irks me is that Sookie is they major character so there is so much time devoted to... something that doesn't make sense. Like the show keeps trying to "other" Sookie but she is a pretty blonde white lady from a racist family. How is she so different? Like I understand her uncontrolled telepathy may mean that she is very awkward in most social settings. But Sookie is a very normal individual. If anything, unremarkable. So for the show to try and construct this belief that she is just SO hate by everyone in town really isn't working. Like equating "Sookie fucking a vampire two years ago" to "Bon Temps is being over run by infected vampires" is literally not does not make sense. it just doesn't.
The Jason stuff..... uhhh.... ugh
But other than these two factors, this was actually a very good episode. It was nice to see the "horror" element be amped up. There is a tangible fear that permeates each characters storyline. Like this episode really felt like a story driven narrative where the characters are forced to react to the events taking part. Very early season of Game of Thrones. Like the Jessica/Andy/Adilyn stuff worked really well and had some good tension to watch. And I'm so interested to see how the h vamp thing plays out cause even though this is the last season, I feel like this is the season I remember the least of. Besides like Tara being on a cross, Hoyt returning and him and Jessica getting back together, Alcide dying naked, Jessica's (recasted" boyfriend sleeping with Lafayette, and Bill getting hep V and Sookie staking him, I don't remember a lot of little details. These are just broad stroke events. I do know Pam and Eric get an epic final scene but again, I don't know the events leading up to it.
But yeah, a good first episode that makes me intrigued for the rest of the season. Already feels better than season 4 and 6. But let me reserve my judgement until I get more episodes in and really get a feel for what this season wants to do. Cause it is a last season of a TV show, which tend to never really be good. Seriously, very few TV shows have good final seasons. Mainly because true fans who have stucked through the shows lifetime don't want it to end. Compared to someone who only watched the show until the lost interest, thus preserving some since of "quality" in their mind.
Lol I talked a lot about stuff not specific to this episode, but a first episode is really supposed to kick you off to the events that will transpire throughout the season, so it is fun to speculate the many paths the narrative can take.

Alright I need to rage for a second because I literally have NOBODY to talk to about this.
The Sookie Stackhouse novels, and similarly True Blood, are clearly not for me, if you get what I’m saying. Just from reading these four novels and comparing them to what I watched on the show, there’s so many things that really just piss me off.
First of all, on True Blood, most of the characters are unlikeable. I’m not so proud to admit the reason I invested in Eric when TB was airing was solely because of Alexander Skarsgard and the addition of complexity that Godric brought to his backstory. Otherwise, I’m not sure the face and abs would’ve done it for me on their own.
Bill having a heroes death on the show is, quite frankly, insulting to me as a viewer, and now even moreso as I’ve read some of the books. I have to wonder if Stephen Moyer had some iron-clad contract that kept him on as a main character, or if it had to do with Anna & Stephen wanting to work together? I mean, really.
Pam/Sookie!! Wtf? It’s clear the writers made up the show-rivalry because it wouldn’t have been interesting to have them be friends?? I hate it.
Tara & Jason are both wildly more likable in the novels. I don’t understand why Tara’s story went so completely off the rails on the TV show. Once again, it’s clear TB needed shock value so they abandoned her marriage and baby storyline for.. what we got on the show. FFS she didn’t even have a happy ending and we barely got Pam/Tara.
Back to Eric -- I am so irked by the novel’s endings for him that I’d go so far as to say it’s giving me anxiety. I actually feel trapped thinking about him marrying Freyda and leaving his progeny for eternity. At least in TB he’s able to stay with Pam, and their relationship is seemingly more loving, and he has a somewhat happy ending, insinuating that he will always protect Sookie despite probably never interacting with her again.  While I understand the reasoning behind having Sookie end up with some basic human at the end of the show (despite so many protestations from her that she never wanted to be with a human because of her telepathy so LSOKJSDFJSKFSIEG?!?!?), but considering everything else I’m left wondering -- What was the POINT OF ALL OF THIS? I HATE feeling this way after fiction. Perhaps watching this from the perspective of modern day events has made me realize how tired I am of this narrative of humans needing to return to regular human life after being so fully ensconsed in some crazy, magical, life-altering adventure. This is UNNATURAL to how life actually unfolds. Sometimes things change you at a core level and the things you initially wanted no longer hold any meaning for you. AND ITS OKAY. It’s okay to change, to not go back to the comfort of ‘how things were’. I actually think it would be a lot healthier for fiction to start representing this more. (A great example of this is Martha/Rose/Donna from Doctor Who and what they make of themselves after the Doctor leaves them behind. None of these women can return to normal life after the things they’ve experienced, and so they take ownership of their lives and steer it in a new direction.) I might just be sick of everyone trying to brainwash me that Marriage and Baby is the only thing that constitutes a happy ending. Why can’t a happy ending be spending eternity with your vampire Viking boyfriend and never bearing children? Like? OmFg LmAo.
True Blood now feels shallow, like they added gore, drama, soft-core porn for the views and shock value. Part of me has considered for awhile if this can be described as a plot-driven narrative, wherein the writers decided to follow certain storylines just for the sake of drama. The books are on a whole other level of disappointing. IDK I am just so irate. I think I’m finally hitting a wall with bad storytelling. I need to stop ingesting stories that make me feel like all of that emotional investment was for nothing.

"She's as mad as a monkey on a trike and she has been for centuries!” - Queen Sophie-Anne Leclerq intro!
Tumblr media
⌜ •°  ✦  °• — evan rachel wood + she/her + nonbinary + true blood .┆this is your stop . welcome to 𝐓𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒 .  you must be SOPHIE-ANNE LECLERQ . a little birdie told me you’re looking for SIREN’S BAR , it’s not too far from here and i’m sure your CHILDISH , CALCULATING + SELFISH self will lead you down the right path . you’ve had THIRTY / FIVE HUNDRED FIFTY years of experience anyway . what were you saying ? you DO remember BEING SETUP BY BILL ? oh well, good luck with that ! hey , before you go , has anyone ever told you that you give off a CHEATING AT YAHTZEE TO GET YOUR WAY, DOING ANYTHING TO KEEP YOUR ROYAL STATUS, AND STYLISH 1920’S CLOTHES vibe ? i better get going , enjoy your stay ! ── maggie , she/her , 26 , cst .
First thing’s first this is Queen Sophie Anne Leclerq.  Her wiki is here (x) and she was only in True Blood for about 8 episodes but she owns my ass and my heart
So she is the Vampire Queen of Louisiana!
That means in her mind she’s boss and will nOT HEAR OTHERWISE
She was born in France and won’t talk about it because it sucked and was traumatic so I simply will not be touching upon it.  All you gotta know is that she was turned in France at like the late 1400′s....old as balls
So basically from that point to where she starts in the show is free game because the writers did not love her like I love her.  SO basically from here on out is my own hc’s
Her maker was an asshole so she convinced humans to kill him, while also not revealing she is a vampire.
After that she was FREE and played by no man’s rules.
Basically she is excellent at getting people to do what she wants even without her vampire powers
Eventually she gained enough status and notoriety they gave her the position of Queen and she loves it and will literally kill anyone that threatens it
NOW TV SHOW TIME
She knows shit that she doesn’t be telling people she knows
Shit being that Sookie is part fairy
Also other information, she’s been around the block.  She knows history okay?
She’s also not afraid to make you do what she wants to get her information
A 500 round game of Yahtzee anyone?
She has made some enemies SURE but she’s valid and I love her
Two enemies were Eric and Bill
Bill killed her, she’s fucking pissed
She’s a full ass lesbian
Canon vampire pros/cons
She can fly - suck a spoon TVD vampires
She can daze people and get her to do what she wants (this will not be in play because I don’t want to godmod y’all)
Hates silver
Will turn to goo in sunlight (unless she has that sweet sweet fairy blood)
Older vampires = more powerful, stronger, and faster than babies
She’s technically smart but she’s a full dumbass so please love her

Reylo - Part II – Alternatives to Reylo
Presenting an alternative to Reylo.  Reylos, Be not scared to read.
Definition: Reylo (pronounced RAY-LOW) – the romantic pairing of Rey and Kylo Ren from the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy “ST”.
This is a follow up to my last Pro-Reylo related post.
This will not be a vicious attack on the fans who desperately want Reylo to happen. This is not an argument why Reylo should or should NOT happen.  This is more of an observation based on clues, and my experience watching TV, movies, and based on what seems most “Star Warsy.”  The Reylo angle is a somewhat dark relationship to this point. What if Star Wars takes a more positive and what I like to call “Hallmark Movie” route?
So here are a few clues as to why Reylo might NOT happen.
Clue #1: Finn + Rey?
In The Force Awakens – Finn was definitely crushing on Rey.  It certainly looked like Star Wars was setting up a somewhat unconventional yet modern day couple in Rey and Finn. And there is that scene where Finn lies to the Resistance and recruits Han Solo and Chewbacca to go to Starkiller base just to secretly rescue Rey from the First Order.  He WENT BACK FOR HER!  Awww… but then, it seemed like Finn got put in the friend zone by the end.   But I digress.  By the ending of The Last Jedi showed a pretty long hug between Rey and Finn.   They are adorable.  Finn is so worthy of love.   I believe he will find love in Episode IX.  It’s just a matter of with whom.  Does Rey love Finn? Or is she willing to let him go to be with Rose?
I don’t know if Finn would even let Rey be with Kylo Ren.  Now that sounds like I’m calling Finn controlling or saying that Rey would even allow her friend to tell her who she can or cannot be with.  But Rey respects Finn and he cares about her too much to let her fall for a bad boy/guy, a bad guy who killed his father in front of them and physically assaulted both Rey and Finn at the end of The Force Awakens.
Clue #2: Poe and Rey?
At the end of The Last Jedi, they included a scene that was initially in the novelization of the Force Awakens, which is Poe meeting Rey, despite the fact that they were standing 5 feet away from each other in the scene were R2-D2 helps BB-8 reveal the map to Luke Skywalker AND Rey and Poe were both worried over Finn’s medical condition. Continuity anyone????  But just to make it official, Rian Johnson jammed in the official handshake scene at the end of the Last Jedi, so that we will know that they now know each other, even though Poe already knows who Rey is, Duh!  He has seen her, he knows who she is, and he obviously thinks she is awesome. Remember when he shook her hand, she said “I’m Rey” and he smiled at her and was all like “I know” (a little Han Solo-y, right?)  And then she smiled back at him with a new found gleam in her eye.  I would not be shocked to see a Rey/Poe flirtation at least.   If there is a time jump before the next movie, we may even see that there is not only a flirtation but a well-developed relationship between them.   Where it goes from there, we will see!
Clue or Prediction #3: The Classic Love Triangle
Time to bring back the concept of a love triangle?   Maybe… I make a lot of references to Hallmark movies and in a lot of these movies, the girl is engaged to some rich, arrogant snob but falls in love with the nice, funny, cute guy by the end.   Kylo Ren’s failure to do the right thing (i.e. not making amends for his father’s murder, not forgiving or reconciling with his sad mom) could turn into a win for the good guy, in this case, Poe Dameron, war hero, emerging leader of the Resistance/Rebel Alliance.  Maybe in the end, the good guy gets the girl.
Clue #3: “I Don’t Have Time for Anything Else”
There was a timespan of only a few days between the beginning of The Force Awakens and end of The Last Jedi. Legitimately, there hasn’t been enough time for real romance to take place.   So as of now, nothing has really happened between any of the characters except the peck on the lips that Rose gave to Finn.
We’re expecting a time jump between Episode 8 and 9.   So let’s say a year has passed by the time Episode IX starts.  What if the events of Episode IX take place also over days?   Is there enough time for a romance to develop that hasn’t ALREADY been taking place?    What I’m saying is that if there is a romance, it will most likely be something that has been developing during the time period between The Last Jedi and Episode IX, similar to Han and Leia between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back.
Anakin pined for Padme for years.   Han and Leia knew each other for months / years and spent time in close proximity in life and death situations.  Those romances were given the appropriate groundwork cinematically.  The sequel trilogy timeline has so far not been conducive to romance.  Yes, sometimes in real life, love can happen at first site, but often true, lasting romance is sewn over time.   Now, if Rey and Kylo have somehow been in contact all of this time or have been pining for each other, then this could lead to a Reylo thing.  But it can’t develop in the middle of a 2 hour movie.   If they are still fighting in this movie, how the heck would they end up falling in love?  Lust maybe.  But love? Not sure how JJ is going to make it work for a lot of fans. He has a tough task indeed.
Also, Rey has a lot to do – fix her lightsaber, defend and fight for the Resistance, and other Jedi stuff I suppose. Does she really have time in this movie to get sidetracked by romance?
Final Thoughts
There are strong feelings by many Star Wars fans on why Reylo should not happen.  Some people have commented that a Reylo relationship is toxic, abusive, yada yada yada.  Not trying to be dismissive of Anti-Reylos but these are all opinions. Shippers and non-shippers.   Everyone can have an interpretation and an opinion.  The movie will come out and we will see if people lose their minds over it.  But the truth is, we have seen many other similar relationships between Bad Guy and Good Girl that we, as an audience have routed for.   And that is because we secretly hoped that the bad boy/bad guy was actually a good guy who lost his way somewhere along the line and he can be good again thanks to love.   Let’s take Buffy and Spike, Vampire Diaries characters Elena and Damon Salvatore (more CW shows!), Sookie Stackhouse and Eric Northman, Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, and countless others in novels, movies and television, and even some in real life!
I sound like I’m being pro-Reylo, but I just want the Anti-Reylo readers to get a perspective that this concept is not new and to open the mind to the idea that we may get a redemption arc for Kylo Ren.  I, personally, can’t understand how they would let the only child of our heroes, Han Solo and Leia, be the sole bad guy in this trilogy, or even the most evil in the Star Wars saga.  Han cannot have died in vain.  I’m actually a little surprised they had Kylo Ren seem to turn a corner by killing Snoke only to see him viciously attack the Resistance base on Crait where he knew his mother would be.  But the last moment of Kylo Ren holding his father’s dice and looking at Rey in a sorrowful way, gives me something to look forward to in EPIX.
Regardless of how The Last Jedi ended, the Star Wars people can acknowledge they have a problem.   They have potentially set up a romance between a good girl and a very, very bad boy to put it mildly.   Kylo Ren may be truly be unredeemable after killing his father regardless of how much it has split his spirit to the bone.   The extra force Kylo used to drive that lightsaber into his father’s chest may have been a bridge too far from the get-go, which is why many people I speak to hate Kylo Ren.  Disney/Star Wars may have played their hand poorly, underestimating how intense the anger would be towards this act of patricide.   The Star Wars story writers may have no choice but to handle romance more delicately, taking cues from the #MeToo movement and other current societal guidelines of what is “acceptable” behavior between man and woman.  Or they may avoid romance altogether in lieu of a just a good story of light and dark, good and evil and focus on how the three trilogies tie together and the legacy of Anakin Skywalker and the Jedi.  Hell with romance!

#BuffyAt20 - S03E08 “Lover’s Walk”
> OKay, first thing’s first: is it Lovers or Lover’s? Wikipedia has the first one, Hulu has the second. Very confusing.
> Another fake-out opener where someone is being hyperbolic about the world ending but it’s just grades or something.
> Willow got a 740 verbal on her SATs. Like, I think she’s being too hard on herself, but I get not feeling academically fulfilled by that. I think I got 700? I don’t remember. My math sucked, that’s for sure.
> That Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel reference has endured the test of time.
> What is Xander’s score if it’s close to 740? We joke about his grades a lot but like. Get serious, son.
> Willow, that top is so loud.
> Omigod, I’m looking forward to going back to pretending Xillow never happened soon.
> Cordelia testing well is good continuity with “Band Candy.” And I loved them following up on SAT scores. I think these might have come out a little quick, but it’s fine.
> “That was my sarcastic voice.” “Y’know, it sounds a lot like your regular voice.” “I’ve been told that.” I feel you, Oz.
> Cordelia’s terror at the idea of double dating IS A DANGER SIGN, XANDER.
> I have Buffy’s SAT score memorized: “1430, Buffy, you kicked ass!” (A friend got the same score on her first take.)
> “Now you can leave and never come back.” I actually love Cordy here, a rarity for me lately.
> Pretty sure the shot of Spike crashing into the Sunnydale sign is just a retouched copy of the one from Season 2. Not a problem, just funny.
> I wasn’t sure I had the energy to do my #BuffyAt20 right now but this theme song is giving me life.
> I don’t get Spike’s obsession with Sinatra in this episode but sure.
> Oh man, remember the Factory? It’s a slot on my Buffy Monopoly board.
> Do we feel the flashback to when Dru left Spike that we get in Season 3 keeps in line with what we’re presented here? Dru accusing him of loving Buffy as far back as now? Hm.
> Literally the episode where Cordelia and Xander break up is the episode where it most seems like they’re a happy couple. And even then, they’re horrible to each other half the time. Sigh.
> Oz giving Willow the PEZ Witch is still one of the best things ever. I really wanted a wolf PEZ for Oz.
> Okay, a friend and I recently discussed a fan poll where people voted on their favorite mate for Willow and it made me uncomfortable that Oz was winning. But… I get it.
> There’s a lot of focus on Giles packing in this scene.
> Ooh! Worth noting: the guy who wrote this episode wrote three of my favorite #Daria episodes! He’ll also later write “The Zeppo.”
> This episode laid a lot of interesting potential for Buffy to be able to leave Sunnydale. Not forever, but, even if just for college. It was interesting.
> I wish I could make Buffy Now see how much Giles treated Seventeen Buffy like an adult over this Angel situation. He could’ve been SUUUCH a prick. And their relationship got really awkward for a while there, and I don’t think Buffy was entirely fair to him. Or probably him to her too. Fathers and daughters, man.
> I spent a whole dumb Xillow scene typing that last one. Not sorry.
> I’ve said it before but it’s wild that Buffy’s house never changes once in 7 seasons. The cinematography changes so much that it feels like a different house.
> How does Angel not hear, or even sense, Spike right outside the Mansion? Still recovering from Hell, I guess? Coz otherwise, wtf?
> I do love Spike waking up on fire.
> What happened to Spike’s car between Seasons 3 and 4 anyway? Where’s that story?
> “This is just too much.” Some real gentle language there, Spike.
> The Magic Box is, like, the same SHAPE we see in Season 5. But the layout isn’t totally right. And the back hasn’t been blown out yet. The storefront is the same. They moved the register away from the door. Hmm.
> Ooh, that Spike shot of grabbing the shop owner becomes his credits shot.
> Hey! It’s the Mayor! I forgot he’s in this one. And Allan! He’s pretty cute, tbh.
> “Boats did have canons. And a loose one would cause it to rock.” Lol.
> The way that the Mayor celebrates sinking that putt makes me wonder if he hadn’t been expecting it, haha.
> Where is Angel getting hair gel from in the Mansion? How is this a priority? Then again: same question at Derek Hale sleeping in a train yard.
> I’m not loving the dramatic beat when Angel tells Buffy she should leave. Like. Buff. Shouldn’t you? Sigh.
> Willow is trying to do magic on Xander without his consent. That’s actually an interesting portent for Season 6.
> Xander and Willow, like, really try and hold their own against Spike here. Mad respect.
> Alyson Hannigan shows such amazing vulnerability in the scenes with James Marsters, it’s bonkers. And then how it flips on a dime to be comedic. Wild chemistry, those two.
> OOOH, Dru accused Spike of going soft for teaming up with Buffy, eh? Interesting…
> HA! The “chaos demon, all slime and antlers” line was a favorite among fans, so we loved finally seeing him in Season 5.
> “I haven’t had a woman in weeks.” Blech. “Well, unless you count that shopkeeper.” Double blech.
> “I’m not a real witch, you know.” Heh.
> It. Is. SO. Clever. That Willow sends Spike to Buffy’s house. Holy. Shit.
> You know who else is a good version of Cordelia Chase? Valencia from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Becomes a good person in, like, half the time it’s taking Cordy…
> Ugh, I hate coincidence moments like that. Buffy heard Spike on the phone when her mom happened to call? Sigh.
> YAAS, the Joyce/Spike bond! We needed more of this!
> Joyce Summer is Top 5 TV Mom material.
> “You get out of this house or I will stake you myself.” GEDDIT, JOYCE!
> Lol, remember how Buffy is going to start sleeping with Spike? This show, man.
> Spike just called Angel a “poof.” Nice.
> “What if they were kidnapped by Colombian drug lords?” CORDELIA. STOP.
> Oz smelling Willow is… interesting.
> Buffy is so eager to kill Spike.
> Did Buffy rip off Sookie Stackhouse with this love triangle or vice versa? Angel being Bill, Spike being Eric. Hm.
> Buffy always made kicking in doors look so cool.
> What exactly are we supposed to make of Spike’s observation about Buffy and Angel being in love here? I mean, he’s right. But. Like. What, they needed someone else to tell them?
> “I won, right? Kicked his ass?” “You were real brave. Do you need to barf.” Classy.
> “Give me a third option.” “He’s so drunk he forgets about us and we starve to death.” HA.
> AAAAAnd they kiss, aaaand Oz and Cordy show up, aaaand it’s horrible. AAAAND Oz is the only one who composes himself maturely, like always.
> Cordelia getting skewered was… so weird.
> They’re having this vampire fight, like, in the middle of downtown Sunnydale right now. I get that it’s probably 3am or something but omigod.
> Oh yeah, the storefront is definitely the same a when it’s the Magic Box.
> Seeing Buffy, Angel, and Spike standing side-by-side is a hoot.
> The “let’s give baby a taste” stuff Spike does is… No.
“ “Baby like his supper?” No. No he doesn’t.
> The table Spike stakes this guy on is, like, probably the same table he and Anya bang on in Season 6, haha.
> The holy water bombs are so cool. Why don’t they use holy water more often?
> The resolution of this Spike story is… so Spike. You know, we probably would’ve never seen him again if they didn’t love James Marsters SOOO much.
> Remember when they made us think Cordelia died? Like, right after she found of Xander cheated on her? This story was, like, one of the lowest points of the show. I’m sorry but it was. I remember laughing out loud when we found out Cordy wasn’t dead. That’s not something you wanna get a laugh on.
> What was the point of this story arc, though? “Don’t cheat or someone could die?” This is a ‘Blood on the Pavement’ type parable here. Way more Dawson’s Creek than Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
> I remember thinking Cordelia was going to be blind, because of the “I can’t see you” thing. I don’t know how being skewered would blind her.
> Okay, CAN WE TALK about the nailed-up broken sheets of wood at the Mansion entrance? It is the weirdest thing, it looks like a child’s tree fort.
> Buffy, if you think you’re fooling Giles and your friends into believing you don’t want Angel, you are sorely mistaken.
> Angel, be a big boy, let the seventeen year old girl go.
> She has to step through his weird cobbled-together wooden doorway! And it’s gone, like, after this episode! Wtf!
> This maudlin montage of all the characters being despondent was, like, the biggest bummer. Why do I love Season 3 so much?? This is such a downbeat point for the show.
> And there’s Spike riding off into the sunset. See you in a year, William.

1/2 Random question: can you think of a moment between another couple that sold you on that couple? I was thinking about Nick and Jess on New Girl and their first kiss. If I remember correctly it’s towards the end of S2. And by that point I was already very much over their will-they-won’t-they-relationship (I liked it a lot in the beginning without shiiiiipping it you know? But again, at that point, I was just over it, like I wanted to tell the writers, pick one and move on, this is annoying).
2/2 And damn out of nowhere they kissed and holy sh*t that kiss/moment was so hot, I was all in lol. At some point I got annoyed again but that at much more to do with the writing/the show itself than their relationship per se but anyway, IMO that kiss deserves a place among the hottest first kiss between tv couples cause..hot damn. 🔥 🔥
So it turns out, this was kinda hard to answer, because I’ve never really shipped anything before, not like Rick and Michonne. (By the way, I actively didn’t want Jess and Nick together, but I can certainly recognize that that first kiss was goodt.)
So these moments aren’t anywhere in the realm of Richonne for me, but they stuck with me nonetheless. First thing I thought of was, of course, Jim and Pam. Casino Night when he told her he was in love with her. Ugh, my heart. He was so earnest! Like you with Jess/Nick, I got a little annoyed with the back and forth after a while, but that moment was so great and unexpected.
Then there’s Kyle and Max from Living Single. Honestly, I was into it from day one, especially with that episode when they were pretending to be a couple for Max’s boyfriend. But I think anyone who watched that show will recall when he serenaded her with My Funny Valentine and not only was Maxine shook, but so. was. I. Perfect OTP moment.
This one is weird, because I suspect if I look back at their relationship, there’s a lot of problematic shit there, but Sookie and Eric from True Blood. That first dream she had about him after (I think) he had to give her his blood. I didn’t even like Sookie/Anna Paquin, but I liked her with Eric. And that scene where they’re in bed, just talking, and then he starts kissing her while she’s distracted. Whew. That show is terrible, but that dream was damn near artful, lol.
Lastly, Jaime and Brienne from Game of Thrones. It was all of season 3 that sold me on them, but the big moment was in 3x07 when he came back to save her from the bear. It’s terribly obvious and cliche of course, but it was genuinely moving to me. Especially given how terrible Jaime had been. That season gave him some nuance, and I dunno, I guess I have a thing for women who don’t need saving being saved anyway. They’re not even a couple, but to me, after that, they were totally a couple.

Imagine you found out that you have a sister, Sookie Stackhouse, unwillingly you fall into her world of supernatural creatures. Being a more advanced mindreader than Sookie, all supernatural eyes are on you. You’re a weapon, but will you make it out alive?
Part three Double heart
Part one  (All your life) Part two  (Stay in the dark) Part three (Double heart) Part four (Better dig two)
Word Count: 2236
Warnings: Swearing
Summary: Being back in Bon Temp you come across a connection you didn’t expect to find.
Previously: Alcide visited you at your house and told you that you needed to come back to Bon Temps with him.
It would be so wrong for you to say that you came along because Alcide is so persuasive. Why would that be so wrong you ask? Because you have morals of some kind. The kind that tells you that you should not just think about yourself. Okay, screw it! You came along because the thought of a supernatural adventure thrilled you. How many times have you re-watched Vampire diaries or Supernatural. This time it’s your time to kick some supernatural ass. And you’re doing ‘it’ again. Smiling sheepishly at your own thoughts. “You came back.” Sam greets you surprised. Not the kind of warm welcome you were hoping for. Alcide insisted on taking you here because he said the food is not better anywhere else. The food must be real crappy everywhere else then, for this to be the best food… You are not stupid. Alcide took you here because of Sookie. Your damned sister. Sitting down in the back of the bar flashes dance before your eyes. A vision. Having these visions is like watching tv, but in your mind. You’ve been shown images, video’s but also feelings. It doesn’t always clearly show what is about to happen, but putting together what is shown to you in your vision you mostly can figure things out. The image that is shown to you this time is a picture of Eric. He is somewhere in the woods and the feelings you are getting with this image are scared at first and then, passion? What? It sometimes happens that you interpret something wrong and this must be one of those times. Alcide sits down across from you. “So,” you say folding your hands underneath your chin. “what is it that you’re really up to?” “We’re here to see Sookie.” He tells you. You wave your hand at him. “Yeah, tell me something I don’t know.” Does he really think you’re that dumb. “I mean what are you planning to use me for? Because I see a little of Eric in my future.” Alcide arches his dark eyebrow at you. “What are you talking about?” He asks confused. “She’s talking about a tall, blonde handsome man walking into her life.” Eric sits down next to Alcide. “Well if it isn’t the big bad wolf and the big bad vampire sharing a drink, thinking their deep thoughts and desires.” You say leaning back in your seat. Eric laughs. “She really is something, huh.” He tells Alcide, who is not amused at all. “I like her.” Eric adds looking at you. “Well color me blessed.” You scoff sarcastic. “Feisty too.” Eric notices. “That could come in handy.” Alcide turns to Eric. “What are you doing here?” Alcide growls. “To look at my new asset, of course.” Eric replies not once breaking his stare down that he is having with you. “I’m not some cow that you can just take in.” You tell Eric. “I’m more than that.” “Oh, you’re much more.” Eric agrees. “That’s why I want you so bad.” With a smile on your face you lean across the table towards Eric. “Oh, really?” You ask him teasingly. “How bad?” “I have a proposition for you.” Eric tells you, suddenly all business like. You hold up your hand, telling him to keep quiet. “Food first. Then I’ll listen.” You command him. Eric watches you and finally turns to Alcide. “Well, you hear the lady. Give her some food.” Alcide growls. He clearly despises Eric. Still he gets up to order some food. “Give me one reason to trust you instead of him.” You tell Eric hurried when Alcide is out of hearing range. “Honesty.” Eric tells you. “You’re a smart girl. It’s no use in lying to you. I won’t, but I can’t say the same for our hairy friend.” Pursing your lips you shrug. “Not really what I was looking for, but whatever.” You kick back resting your feet on Eric’s chair. “What were you looking for?” Eric asks genuinely interested. With pursed lips you smile amused. “Well wouldn’t the almighty vampire like to know.” Playing around with such powerful creatures may no be the brightest idea, but what is life without a risk. Before Eric could say something else Alcide returns with a hamburger and fries. “Jeez, I’m starving.” You tell him before digging your teeth into the burger. Feeling uncomfortable the men watch you devour the hamburger. “Well, talk.” You bid Eric after you ate the whole hamburger and he still hasn’t started his proposal.  “I need someone to help me on a mission.” Eric tells you. Hello vagueness. You think still looking down at your fries. Which are not even that good by the way. “I’ll pay you richly.” He adds hoping to catch your interest. Instead you look up at him, with dead bored eyes. “So does my job.” Eric is speechless and you take a wild guess and say he is not very often. Not impressed you continue to eat your fries. You tap into Alcide and feel that he is delighted by the way you are treating Eric. “Better wipe that smirk off your mind, werewolf boy.” You tell Alcide in-between eating. Alcide coughs shocked that you read his mind, while Eric just smiles amused and even impressed. “Where are you staying?” Eric asks out of nowhere. “I’ll swing by later tonight and talk to you when werewolf boy isn’t around.” He just stole your nickname. Copyright... “Well Alcide dragged my ass over here and therefore, I have no place to stay, unless there is something I don’t know.” “I forgot. You can crash on my couch.” Alcide says. “Or you could stay at my house.” Eric says, making you raise your eyebrow at him. “You would have your own wing.” Eric’s mind is silent so you focus on him. It takes a lot of concentration, but you are able to catch a glimpse of something. “Fuck me sideways.” You blurt out without thinking. “You are sincere!” Your astonishment catches them off guard. “I think it’s time to go.” You stand up. Still a bit put off the men don’t move. “Well, Eric, are you dead or something?” Okay that may not have been the best question to ask someone who is actually dead. Do you seriously don’t have an off switch?
“That looks good on you.” Eric’s voice scares you to death. You thought you were alone in your guestroom. Wearing only your panties and an oversized Fangtasia t-shirt that he gave you. Your hair is worn down and you were just dancing around the huge room when Eric’s voice interrupted your music. “Ever heard of knocking?” You ask, not even the slightest bit of uncomfortable about your bareness.
“If I had knocked I would never have seen that move you made.” Eric tells you grinning. Smiling devilishly you turn up the music and grab his hand. “Knocking wouldn’t have made a difference, corpse.” Alcide got his nickname, now it’s only fair to give Eric one too. Adoring Eric looks down on you while your bodies move to the rhythm of the music. “I’m not going to sleep with you.” You tell him out of the blue.
“You really are remarkable at mind reading. I never met anyone who could read a vampires mind so easily.” Eric tells you astound.
“Oh, I didn’t need to read your mind to know what you were thinking.” You tell him satisfied. Bon Temps was maybe not so bad after all. You are, after all, having fun.
“Devilish.” Eric remarks
“I would love to say ‘that’s me’, but unfortunately I would be lying if I did.” You say.  Eric turns down the volume. “What do you mean unfortunately?” He asks curious. “I don’t know why I’m even telling you.” You say and shrug. “But I always dreamt of being something like I am becoming right now. A heroine in a story to be written down and read by thousands of hungry eyes, wishing for the possibility of experiencing the same thing. I’m sick of sitting in my small office reading cases and searching through laws to find a loophole, which may surprise you do exist.”
“You are a lawyer?” Eric asks you uncertain. You just nod. “Has someone ever told you, you are nothing like your sister?” Eric asks as if you have known your sister your whole life.
“I have, but how so?” You are starting to get curious as to why you are nothing like her. The both of you sit down on the end of the bed. “You’re educated, a risk taker, out-going, bubbly and just ..different.” Eric’s remark makes you smile. Whether or not he meant is as a compliment, you are definitely taking it that way.
“Why do you hate your life so much?” Eric asks surprising you. That is a way you never really thought of it. Did you really hate your life? It’s a tough question. “What happened to make you resent normal life?”
In your head you are discussing whether or not you should tell Eric. But in the end you are still not sure. “I don’t know, it’s stupid.” You say.
Half-heartedly you hoped he would drop the matter, but he doesn’t care for the fact that you don’t feel like sharing your inner thoughts. “I’m a really good listener.” He pushes.
Giving in you sigh. Whatever. “A few years ago I was dating Chuck, a tanned biker who used to live on the farm with his parents. I don’t really know what business he had with his biker gang, but he never talked about that.”
“So, he was a bad guy?” Eric asks.
You nod. “I guess I liked the mystery around him and the fact that he was a bad guy intrigued me in a way. Apparently I have a weak for the bad guy.” You tell him not realizing who you are talking to. With a charismatic smile and puppy eyes Eric looks down on you, making you realize what kind of effect your words now have on him. In his ears all he heard was: ‘I have a weak for you, Eric.’
“So what happened?”
“One day, he came home and he rolled up is sleeve. I never expected things to escalate so quickly, but it did. And I never meant for things to become that way, but I guess he decided for me that it should. There were two little hearts on my rodeo man. He practically slipped a ring right on my finger.”
“He wanted to marry you?” Eric asks uncertain.
“Chuck didn’t say it with those exact word, but he tattooed two hearts on his shoulder. And at that moment I realized something. There was no way in hell that I was going to stay at home to watch the children and be a good housewife. I haven’t lived my life yet. All those years I was only alive, not actually living life. That’s why I left him with skid marks and a double heart.”
Eric chuckles. “A double heart.”
“Why is this funny to you?” You ask feeling a bit insulted.
“It’s just so beautiful the way your mind works.” He says, confusing you. “You left a guy because you were not satisfied with yourself.”
Feeling attacked you stand up. You could have chosen to say something nasty in return, there were plenty of things you could say, but you decide not to. Attacking back would only make you look worse. “What are you getting at, Eric?” You ask instead.
Eric rises to his feet. “It’s not an insult, sweets.” He assures you. Your eyes lock and Eric bends his face towards yours. Is he going to do what you think he is going to do? “What the hell are you doing?” You ask him not moving an inch. He pulls back looking at you. “Well, kissing you of course.”
“Did something in my story give you the idea that it was okay to do so?” You ask him. Was there something in your story you hadn’t realized made you seem cheap?
“Never mind.” Eric’s demeanor seems to change a bit. “The sun is about to rise, I’ve got to go.” With these words he leaves you wondering what went wrong. You go to bed and fall asleep quickly while the sun slowly rises. Stepping into a dream world you begin seeing things. Not dreams, though it could be mistaken for a dream by someone who doesn’t know any better. You see a body ignite and burn until there is nothing left, but black crisp. Eric. Wide awake you sit up straight in the bed that is way too big for you. Something is going to happen and you know it. Not only have you seen someone burn to death, but you could also feel it in your gut. And if there is one thing you’ve learned it’s to always trust your gut feeling. “Why does he has to have such a goddamned big place.” You curse while flying out the room into the big hall. Clutching your hands around your arms you focus on trying to get a premonition. A faint flash of someone throwing in a Molotov cocktail dances before your eyes. Rushing down the big stairs you run outside the door. You need to stop them before they do it.  On your bare feet you run across the grit, hurting your feet, but right now you don’t feel the pain. Adrenaline rushes through your veins. The sound of breaking glass draws your attention. It has happened. You’re too late.

What’s your opinion on love triangles in TV shows and movies etc? I usually loath them... partly because they usually never end up the way I want them to lol. But because I find that most of the time they’re not all that well written and pretty boring and it’s often quite obvious and predictable how they’re going to end
Eh, generally I don’t like them simply because they’ve been done so much over the years and like you said, they’re usually poorly written and boring. I’m the kind of person that thinks it’s so much better to watch a couple get together and stay together. I don’t get why so many shows feel it’s necessary to split them up, put them with other people and create drama just for the sake of drama. Obviously, it depends on the nature of the show and I understand that for teen dramas, of course, they create triangles for the purpose of creating drama because it is a drama.
Generally, that’s the problem with love triangles - they serve no purpose other than to create drama and angst. When I think of the triangles from shows/movies/books I’ve know like Buffy/Angel/Spike, Elena/Stefan/Damon, Kate/Sawyer/Jack, Katniss/Peeta/Gale, Sookie/Bill/Eric, Bella/Jacob/Edward, there was really just no point in them because from very early on it’s clear who the woman caught in the middle (and for some reason it’s always a woman in the middle) actually loves. Buffy always loved Angel, Elena (if the writers hadn’t retconned the entire show) always loved Stefan, Kate always loved Jack, Katniss always loved Peeta, Sookie always loved Bill and Bella always loved Edward. The other relationship in the triangle really just served as a stop gap and exists mainly to create conflict for the main couple.
I think love triangles can (rarely) be a good thing and provide a lot of interesting development for the characters involved, if they’re handled right. They do have some value of showcasing the complexities of love, because love isn’t as clear cut and black and white as we think it is. From a character perspective, being in love with or having feelings for two different people reflects a lot on the character involved and who they choose to be with says even more about that person. The problem is, I think that fans get exhausted of the constant fights. Part of the reason triangles are created are to divide fans and get us engaging in debates, it’s almost a marketing point for a show/movie/book - think about how big the Team Edward and Team Jacob thing got back in the day. There were t-shirts being made and phone cases and all manner of merchandise built solely around the triangle. Similarly, TVD pulled in a lot of viewers in the early seasons because shippers wanted to see how the triangle would play out. I still remember watching 4x23 and biting my nails because we all knew Elena would be choosing who she wanted to be with.
Although I think some triangles can be good, I’ve never seen one and if it were up to me, I’d completely scrap them. I feel like they’re an old fashioned trope now and we’ve outgrown it as a society. The idea of a pretty girl being loved and adored by two guys who put her on a pedestal and she gets to choose who gets to “win”. Honestly, it objectifies women and often strips away their characterisation rendering them a product of the men’s affections and treating them as though they’re a prize to be won. Having said that, love triangles are a part of life so realistically it wouldn’t make sense to remove them from television/film/literature. I do think that they should only be used in select cases though where they serve a real purpose.

True Blood Season 1 Review Part 1 (Spoilers Ahead)
It’s been about 2 years since I first saw season 1. Contrary to the hundreds of GIFs and posts that I’ve reblogged about True Blood, I’m a lot more familiar with the later seasons of the show than I am with the first season. When I first viewed season 1, it didn’t click with me, and the only reason I sat through it is because I had seen clips from season 2 that convinced me the show was worth watching. I’m not someone who usually gets into the vampire genre (aside for a brief period of time when I was in middle school), but something about True Blood hooked me in and got me to watch it. I can’t say that it’s a show I completely love, but I am inspired to talk about it.
In any case, I’m doing a rewatch for the first time as a way of getting closure on this show, and maybe moving on so that it isn’t in the back of my head all the time. I also wanted to view the show with fresh eyes, and see if my opinions changed while watching it.
This review will be split into 2 parts because I’m realizing that I have a lot to say about season 1, and it’s gonna get lengthy. Part 1 will just focus on my general opinion about the season. Part 2 (which will be posted a few days from now) will focus on my thoughts about how the vampires ar portrayed on the show.
Overall, my opinion about season 1 improved a little bit during rewatch. It’s not my favorite season of television (and Lord knows there are issues with it), but it’s a lot better than I remember it being. The casting is stellar, and I didn’t have any problems with the actors or how they played their characters. The interactions between the characters kept me engaged even when the main story started to drag (more on that in a minute).
While re-watching season 1, I was surprised to pick up on some subtle aspects that had been planted by the writers in season 1 that I missed the first time around, and that would come into play in the later seasons. For instance:
Sookie mentioning that her cousin Hadley had been missing for over a year since she ran away from the rehab center that Gran paid for, and that she didn’t know how to get hold of her (all of which makes sense come season 2).
The appearance of Theodore Newlin (Steve Newlin’s father), his subsequent death in the 3rd episode, and Steve Newlin taking the reigns of the Fellowship of the Sun
Bill warning Malcom, Liam, and Diane that he knew of “higher authorities” than Eric, and Diane saying “Well she can suck on sunlight for all I care” (All references to Queen Sophie Anne).
Diane mentioning that Bill “used to be fun” and that he had a very “sizable appetite.” Also, the reference to Bill having a sexual relationship with Diane in the 1930s (which is around the time he left Lorena).
Jason telling Amy about how his parents died, and how he felt responsible for it (the death of their parents becomes a major plot point later on).
There’s a lot to be said about the way the later seasons handled its arcs, but I think the writers were planting seeds in season 1 for future stories and twists that would be revealed down the road. Some of them were capitalized on. Others weren’t.
I will say for the record that I firmly believe the twist about Bill that gets revealed in season 3 was planned by Alan Ball and the other writers from the beginning of the show, and it does color the way I view Bill’s character and his relationship with Sookie, even in season 1. I should also point out that one particular aspect of the season 3 twist came directly from the books (and those who have read them know what I’m talking about here), so there’s that. Again, I’ll go more into detail about the Bill/Sookie relationship and my thoughts on it as I go through this rewatch.
In regards to the main story about a serial killer coming to Bon Temps and Sookie trying to figure out who it is, I will admit that not only did I NOT find this story engaging anymore, I thought it DRAGGED and should have been resolved within 6-7 episodes as opposed to 12. It’s a lot less thrilling when you already know who the killer is, and while there are some nice clues and red herrings that get dropped, the constant attempts at misdirection (like that scene when Sam goes over to Dawn’s house and sniffs her sheets, or Jason consistently being framed for murder) feels time-consuming instead of fun. It doesn’t help that the story loses momentum halfway through the season, and gets bogged down by all these other subplots that don’t connect to it at all.
Also, I didn’t pick up on this the first time, but rewatching has helped me realize there are some irritating plot holes with the story I couldn’t overlook. For instance:
In one scene, Sam goes to Dawn's house to sniff around and pick up Rene's scent. Later on, he’s at Gran’s house after Gran died where he also should have identified that same scent since Rene climbed through the window. And considering that Rene spent a huge amount of time at Merlotte's and interacted with Sam on many occasions, Sam should have been easily able to associate Rene's scent with the scents he found at the crime scene, and figured out early on that Rene was the killer. So why does it take him so long to connect two and two when Sam already knows what Rene smells like?
Likewise, it's been established that vampires have a good sense of smell. Bill was around Rene in several scenes, and should have been able to pick up his scent at Gran's house after she was murdered. So how come this doesn't happen?
On top of that, when Bill gets interrogated by Andy and Bud about Gran's murder, he claims that he heard a car (most likely Rene's) pulling up across the cemetery to Gran's house. He also claims that vampires had heightened senses. However, when Sookie finally reads Rene's mind in the season finale, it's shown that Gran screams and Rene shouts at her before killing her. So if Bill could hear Rene driving up to Gran's house.................then how come he didn't hear Rene and Gran shouting at one another before Gran got killed?
For that matter, why did Rene go over to Gran’s house in the first place? He knew that Sookie was going on a date with Sam. He saw them leave the church together, and he had no idea when Sookie was going to be back. It came off like really poor planning on his part for someone who’s been methodical about how he killed people up to this point.
Also, why didn’t Rene throw away the video he took from Maudette’s house, as well as the tape on bulding a Cajun accent? That seems incredibly stupid leaving that stuff around from someone (like Arlene’s kids) to find, especially since he no longer had use for that stuff.
There’s also the way Sookie’s mind reading abilities work. I thought the way that was handled was not only inconsistent, but that it also didn’t make sense how she didn’t pick up on Rene being the killer in the first place. Everything about that screamed “plot convenience.”
The other thing I noticed is that a lot of the problems that fans complain about in the later seasons (added side-plots, deviating from the books, added supernatural creatures, plot holes, inconsistent mythology, characters making stupid decisions, the focus on vampire politics, the problems with the Bill/Sookie relationship, etc) can all be traced back to season 1. To give a few examples:
There were a BUNCH of side-plots in season 1, from the Jason/Eddie/Amy arc to Tara’s exorcism and her conflicting relationship with Lettie Mae to Lafayette’s hook-up with the closeted gay senator to Sam’s backstory to Bill’s trial and so on. I didn’t have an issue with this because I get the idea was to do world-building and show different sides to the characters (if anything, I found the side-plots more interesting than the main story), but I always find it odd that one of the biggest complaints about the later seasons was the added side-plots and how people couldn’t follow them. Frankly, I thought they were pretty easy to follow, and could even be engaging at times.
Even in season 1, the show introduced other supernatural creatures besides vampires. Sam was revealed as a shapeshifter, Maryann was introduced as this unknown entity (and would later be revealed to be a Maenad), Sam mentioned the existence of werewolves to Sookie, and even Sookie was implied to be a supernatural herself because of her ability to read minds. Add in the fact that the books had a plethora of other supernatural creatures (werepanthers, faeries, demons, witches, etc) that were bound to be introduced, and I think it’s pretty fair to say that this show wasn’t always going to stay “grounded in realism” like some people complain it should have been.
Vampire politics was always there from the beginning: The show was NOT subtle about its “vampires as a metaphor for oppressed minorities” message that it kept shoving out there (and again, I will talk more about that in my part 2 review because there’s a lot to be said about they way vampires are portrayed on this show). Characters like Nan Flannigan and Steve Newlin were introduced in season 1 (albeit regulated to TV) as well as organizations like the American Vampire League (AVL) and the Fellowship of the Sun (FOTS). There was already a conflict within the vampire community between vampires who mainstreamed and vampires who wanted to keep killing humans like they’d done in the past. Bill’s trial gave an extremely ugly look into how vampires dispensed justice among their own kind. And there were constant references to the VRA (Vampire Rights Amendment). This show was pretty clear from the beginning that the driving force behind this story was about whether or not vampires could integrate into human society and co-exist peacefully with humans.
Also, in addition to the added side-plots, we also had the expansion of characters like Lafayette (whose character was completely different from the books) and the introduction of Jessica (who wasn’t in the books at all). Basically, this show was already beginning to deviate from the books even before the later seasons happened.
The way V works in this universe is all over the place. For some people (like Jason and Amy) it acts like an LSD drug, whereas with Sookie, it just gives her heightened senses and dreams about Bill. Lafayette does briefly tell Jason that V has different effects depending on the individual, so maybe this really isn’t a plot-hole. However, at the same time, it just feels like V was whatever the writers wanted it to be. In other words, inconsistent mythology was already a thing in season 1.
As for characters doing stupid stuff, this came as a surprise to me as well, but it isn’t just limited to Jason. Some examples include:
Tara deciding to drive drunk down the road in the middle of the night while downing a bottle of Vodka (and later getting arrested for it).
Sam sleeping on the same bed as Sookie in dog form, even though he knew (or should have known) that he could transform back into human form while sleeping, and Sookie would see him naked (which is exactly what happens).
Lafayette deciding it’s a good idea to sell Jason V instead of just giving Jason the Viagra he requested in the first place.
Bill letting Diane, Malcom, and Liam into his house when he knew Sookie was coming over to give him the numbers for the electrician. Also it was pretty stupid of him to not consider how Diane, Liam, and Malcom would react to seeing Sookie, or whether or not Sookie would be scared off by the way those three were acting.
Bill deciding it’s a good idea to mouth-off to The Magister about mainstreaming when a.) It is painfully obvious that the Magister doesn’t care about seeing humans as equals, and b.) Bill stands the risk of angering the Magister and making his situation worse than it already is.
Andy’s insistence that Jason is good for the murders without considering all of the evidence, and his refusal to admit he’s wrong. That, and he sucks as a cop.
Sookie using the gun to attack Rene, run out of the house................and then throw the gun into the bushes instead of keeping it as a weapon to defend herself.
Bill choosing not to erase the bite marks on Sookie, which could have made her a target for other people who hated fangbangers (although it’s debatable whether or not this was stupidity on Bill’s part or if this was done intentionally).
And I’m sure there are plenty of other examples, but my point is that Jason isn’t the only one making stupid decisions here. Again, YMMV on whether or not a character’s stupidity makes sense in the context of the story, or if it just screams “plot convenience,” but it was there. It seems like Jason gets made the scapegoat by fans for everything that was wrong with the first season whereas the problems with other characters/stories get ignored because of inherent biases in the fandom.
I know it sounds like I’m ragging on this season, and I guess in some ways I am because I’ve long been tired of the constant bashing of the later seasons, as well as the excessive hate that gets directed at some of my favorite characters (Jason and Tara) while everyone consistently ignores the other problems with characters and stories that existed as far back as season 1. I am being genuine when I say that season 1 had its moments (the Tara and Lafayette moments were probably the highlights of that season) and it was better than I remember it, but it’s not a favorite of mine. I don’t really see myself going back to rewatch season 1 as often as the other season. And if it had been the only season of True Blood they made, I probably never would have watched it again. Like I said, something about season 1 just didn’t work for me, and I think a lot of that has to do with the show placing more emphasis on the character’s flaws over their redeeming qualities. It was season 2 rectified this and helped to soften the characters in a way where I cared about them.
Stay tuned for Part 2 where I’ll give my opinions on how I think the show handled vampires.

~TORN~
"There's nothing where he used to lie
My inspiration has run dry
That's what's goin' on
Nothing's right, I'm torn
I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am ashamed
Bound and broken on the floor”
Torn
I came to a cold concrete floor. Sitting up gingerly in a wave of dizziness, and disorientation. It was obvious I had a minor concussion. I had no idea where I was or how I had gotten here.
The last thing I remembered was leaving Fangtasia after warning Eric, Pam and Bill of a raid that was about to take place.
I could feel the egg shape lump on the back of my skull. Something or rather someone had hit me on the back of the head, knocking me out. Why? Guess that is what I'd have to figure out.
First thing first I had to figure out where I was and how I was getting out of here. Gran had to be worried at this point. Surely she had called Detective Bellefleur by now. Probably Jason as well. I went out to a vampire bar and never came home. The thoughts that must be running around their minds currently.
With that in my head, I let out a few silent tears. As much as I wanted to worry about them. Now really wasn't the time. I needed to worry about myself first. The sunlight was pouring in through a window and a slight sigh of relief, at least I wouldn't be dealing with vampires currently.
Opening up my extra sense, I noticed that there was nobody around at all. I thought that was incredibly bizarre. Even at home in Bon temps if I fully let down my shields I could hear thoughts of townsfolk about a mile out. I must really be in the middle of nowhere. That is when dread started to creep in.
I walked the length of what I assumed to be a basement. There was a couch, a desk, a dresser and a bookcase.
I opened three doors -one was to a small bathroom with a shower- another was to a laundry room- the third led to a set of stairs to go to the main portion of the house yet that door was locked.
Walking back into the room looking around. On the desk was a TV, on the dresser a few walmart bags, on the bookcase there was a mix of books, CDs and movies.
Going through the bags on the dresser I found a couple sundresses as well as essentials (toothpaste, body wash) and food, bananas, apples, bread, peanut butter and jelly. Whoever kidnaped me knew me well, that made me cringe.
I really needed to take care of my human needs. Taking a shower was not the easiest task with the dizziness I was feeling but I felt almost human after I finally got out. I hadn't found any pain medications in the bags and how I wished I had some currently.
Putting on a yellow sundress from the bag, brushing my hair delicately as my head felt like it had been hit by a truck.  I went back to the couch, grabbed everything I needed to make PB&J a banana, the movie Pearl Harbor off the bookcase and into the VHS player, sat down and made a sandwich and watched a movie.
I must have faded out into oblivion at some point during the movie because when I came back to myself I could hear an argument taking place above me. I reached out with my telepathy and all I found was -Voids-
Five of them to be exact. 'Jesus Christ Shepherd of Judea' this doesn't bode well for me.
I didn't dare move knowing everyone who was above me had superior hearing, I laid perfectly still trying to hear what I could of the conversation
"I procured her like you asked, she is here" a male voiced
"That is not what I asked of you, I told you to find out if she was a Telepath and report back. Not take her to my best sheriff's bar. Have her gain undo attention by announcing a raid, then kidnapping her"
the woman who was berating the male -Bill- (he was the one to take me to Fangtasia) sounded furious.
"You have been gone two weeks, and haven't checked in. I wake up tonight and have a message from my sheriff and from you.. do you understand at all how badly you screwed up..."
All of a sudden in the next instant two things happened almost instantly. The first thing was I heard a scream. Bills by the sounds of it. The second was two more -Voids- had approached.
The woman was still admonishing Bill as the door upstairs opened and the two other vampires joined Bill the woman and other three vampires who hadn't spoken that I could tell.
"Sheriff" the woman said to whoever had come in upstairs and all of a sudden I heard the unmistakable voice of the vampire I had met last night
"Your Majesty, to what do I owe the honor of your presence in my territory" was his response
I'm sorry did Eric Northman just say -Your Majesty- the Woman upstairs was a queen. In my shock over the statement I must have made a noise because everything went eerily silent for a couple of seconds before I heard
" Sounds like the Telepath is awake"
Four vampires immediately started heading down the stairs to the room I was in while three stayed upstairs.
I skittered to the wall on the opposite side of the room as the door that was about to be opened.
What does one terrified Telepath do when four vampires walk into the room she is being held in against her will?!?
I took a deep breath in as I watched the procession of vampires enter the room. I recognized Pam and Eric.
The other two looked just seemingly young. A girl who looked about 17 but I could tell by the size of her -void- she was centuries older. Her -void- while smaller than Eric's, it was much bigger than Pam's.
The other vampire was a young boy. He could not have been more than 15 when he was made. Yet still looks were deceiving because he too must have been centuries older than Pam.
All four vampires silent as they appraised me as if I was Chattel. I exhaled and put on my -crazy- Sookie smile. Gran's voice in the back of my head 'always remember your manners you lady, carry yourself with pride, shoulders straight little girl' Looking each one in the eye, ending with Eric's crystal clear blue eyes. Letting my heartbeat calm a minute.
"Howdy de do, Eric Pam, nice to see you again so soon"
I could feel somebody trying to Glamour me almost immediately and tensed.  Ignoring it I continued
" I'd ask what brings ya'll by, but I'm not really sure where I am at the moment, who are your young friends?"
At that I saw Eric's lip quirk, as Pam let out a soft chuckle. Quickly looking from Eric to Pam as the Glamour got more intense.
I took another quick peek at the two vampires before bringing my gaze to the door they left open.
I had no idea what they were trying to get me to do but when I didn't do anything after a couple seconds, the Glamour stopped.
I took another breath, relieved that the tense pressure was no longer batting against my shields. The one good thing I have after being a Telepath for so long is a poker face and I never let the relief show
I was surprised when it was the young boy answered -more like sneered as if talking to a human was beneath him-
"Hello Sookie, I'm Andre Paul and this is my maker Sophie-Anne."
"Well, I would say it's nice to meet y'all, but Gran always told me not to lie and I have no clue what is going on. Please forgive me for with-holding judgements."
I went a little flush, as I realized I just sassed two ancient vampires.
The Queen or "Sophie-Anne" as she was introduced flashed in front of me in a blur, I let out a sharp gasp in shock. I had always hated when Bill had just appeared before me.
She took a hold of my jaw. Looking me over head to toe, making me blush scarlett in mortification.
Leaning to nuzzling my neck as she inhaled deeply, she said to nobody -and everybody-
"You are nothing as Hadley described, no I don't see crazy, simple, meek and mild. No you are a feisty one, and you smell delicious my dear"
" you know Hadley? "
It came out as a whisper, I'm sure if they had been human nobody would have heard it.
Call me a bad Christian, but I hadn't thought about my cousin in years. Back when Aunt Linda was dying and she came around looking for money for rehab. Of course Gran gave it to her, and off she went. We never heard from her again.
After Aunt Linda had passed, we assumed she had overdosed and died. Gran would be so glad to know she wasn't dead somewhere as Jane does.
“That is a question I would like an answer to as well. It seems Bill Compton can not be trusted with even the simplest of tasks. Tell me is it true you are a Telepath?” The Queen asked me, as her eyes bore into mine, studying my every movement. The intense pressure was back in my head. -that would give me a headache in record time.
As calmly as I could I responded in a flat
“Yes”
Sophie-Ann then did a weird seal clap “Excellent, Excellent...You see I sent Bill out to meet you two weeks ago and to find out if you were or not. Why he decided to kidnap you from Mr. Northman’s bar is something we were just about to find out when it came to our attention you were conscious. Actually we should continue that conversation with him now, come along”
I looked at the clock on the VHS player and realized I had passed back out for several hours as it was now just past 10:00. I had been gone now over 24 hours and Gran was probably losing her mind.
Without a thought of what was going out around me I blurted out “I need a phone” and I cringed as I saw four eyebrows raised in response. I needed to let Gran know that I was alive, and I was really hoping that was going to stay the case however, the way they all looked me over...suddenly I was not too sure. I looked to the redhead knowing it was her, that would be deciding my fate this night.
“Please let me call my Grandmother so that she will know I am alive, she will have called the police by now, and the last thing you need is Detective Bellefluer knocking on Fangtasia with the Shreveport police presence.”
Knowing they had a raid last night, and I was seen on stage with Mr. Northman. I thought I had made a pretty good argument, while still polite. It seemed the Queen agreed as she gave Eric a look and he whipped out his cell phone and handed it to me.
I looked at the queen, straight in the eye and asked “Can I tell her about Hadley?’
She gave me a curious once over but then gave me a minute nod, acquiescing my request.
The phone rang twice before none other but Jason answer the phone
A Phone call with Gran
I turned my back to the four vampires in the room and closed my eyes, more scared of the phone call I would be having with my Gran with them in the room. Part of me felt like a child with her hand in the cookie cutter jar, and yet there was another part of me that wanted to scream. I am an adult and it should be ok to spend twenty four hours out of my home.
I knew the first thing I was going to do before the next sunset if I am still alive, was get myself a cell phone. I really don’t want to be in a position where I could not reach Gran if the need arose.
The phone only rang once before Jason of all people answered the phone
“Hello, Sookie?” he asked and immediately I could tell he was worried and frustrated. Already I was on eggshells. What had happened, well wasn”t my fault, had caused my family -my Kin- harm. They were hurting because I had been missing. An errant tear ran down my cheek as I answered.
“Yeah Jas, It's me. I need to talk to Gran, can you give her the phone please?”
That’s it Sookie, that is all you have to say +you need to talk to Gran+ what the fuck Sook..” he trailed off as I heard the thump of Gran hitting the back of my brother’s head and he responded to her “Sorry for the language Gran” before continuing his rant in my direction
“Are you ok? Are you safe? Do i need to come get you, you had us all in an uproar. The whole town is up and arms. Heck Mrs. Fortenberry has some of her old friends gathering branches to make stakes, before heading off to Bill’s house”
I had to chuckle at my brother, while he ain’t got the good sense god gave a rock, he was loyal when family needed him and he would have gone to Bill’s house with a stake if he thought it would get his sister back.
“Listen Jason, I reckon you have a bunch of questions and I promise I will make you breakfast and answer all the ones I can in the morning, if the creek don't rise. However, right now I really need to talk to Gran and let her know I am just fine ok?
With a hmph, Jason tossed over the phone to Gran, +she is fine and she wants to talk to you, not me. I am going to Merlottes and let people know + Jason knew he would get the answers he was looking for tomorrow and I was ok. He needed a beer. I took no offense, and smiled in relief that he trusted me enough to know that if I said I was fine, then I was.
“Hey baby girl, you sure you’re good” Grans voice came through the line. A few more tears ran down my face, Was I? I still didn’t know the answer to that question and bit back the fear I felt. Resolving myself and taking a small breath I did the one thing I had never done before.
I straight faced lied to my Grandmother
“Of course Gran, I am so sorry for not calling, but Bill died for the day with his cell phone. There was so much excitement last night and I panicked a little. Bill brought us to one of his safe houses outside of shreveport. Did you know there was a raid at Fangtasia last night. I had never seen anything like it. I fell asleep on the way to the safe house and didn't wake up before he had to seek shelter from the sun. Again Gran I am so very sorry for not calling”
I blurted it out like it was poison. I hated myself for a second at how easy it was to lie to her, Yet, really she didn't need to know that danger I currently found myself in.
Gran was quiet for a couple long minutes, thinking through everything I told her no doubt. I wanted to tap my foot or something, however I also wanted to keep myself as quiet as possible knowing the vampires behind me were watching my every movement.
Finally she responded. “ I'm glad to hear you are well young lady, you are after all an adult. I wish you had called me as soon as the sun set when Bill roused for the evening. Do I want to know why you didn't?”
“Actually that was because when he woke up, he had some news to tell me. Gran, are you sitting down..?” I asked her. Knowing Jason had left and I wasn’t home she was probably alone.
“Why yes, yes I am. Is it bad my sookie?” Gran asked, and honestly I did not have the answer to that.
“Hadley is a vampire” I deadpanned.
“Ohhh Myyy Stars, Hadley is alive?”
Yes Gran, that is all I know. I need to go chat with Bill and find out why he hadn’t told me before, now I will let you know what I find out. I am hoping to be home in the morning, early afternoon at the latest....”
I trailed off before looking up and turning slightly looking at the vampires I met last night before my eyes found the Queen. I stared her down as if telling her that was how this was going to happen {or pleading that it would be} I don't really know which.
“...But I have to go now Gran. I need more information, I love you and I will see you soon”
I did not wait for her to answer before I gently pushed the end button and was still staring at the Queen...
“Let’s get this over with” I mumbled to myself as Sophie-Anne gestured to Andre to start heading back up the stairs.

Tumblr media
Spending the entire night with Jason and Sookie, cuddled in blankets, drinking hot coco with marshmallows… all of it seemed like a distant dream. A dream Brooklynne had had multiple times in the past year, once she thought would never happen again.
It was as hard for Sookie to get back to real life as it was for Brooklynne. Everyone in Bon Temps was so happy to not only hear about her return but also to see her again. The excuse Bill gave the police was very useful to shut anyone who was a little too curious. Of course, not everything was easy, and now that Sookie was back, it was a hard adjustment for Eric and Brooke to have a new roommate. So hard, in fact, that after only one day, Eric suggested they get a place of their own. A suggestion which, to her own surprise, she didn’t find uninteresting.
“Anywhere but Bon Temps,” Eric whispered so close to her hear she managed to hear him despite the terrible and terribly loud music playing in the club.
“You mean Shreveport,” she chuckled as she slid a hand in his hair, gently bringing his face to hers.
As per usual, she was sitting on his lap, on his ‘throne’. She had learnt to ignore the dozen pair of eyes, human or vampire, that were fixed on them for the entirety of the night. They were different, depending on their species. Mortals envied her. The undead judged him. Silently, of course. They knew what would happen if their sheriff caught them talking ill of his human.
The humans outside, however, weren’t so quiet or discreet about their judgmental ideas and hate. Steve Newlin’s following only grew bigger every day, ever since Russell went crazy on live TV, and a portion of it from Louisiana reunited every night in front of Fangtasia to spew their hatred all over its customers, be they vampire, or human. It did scare away most of the mortal clientele, though Fangtasia had been around for a while, and had, fortunately for business, loyal customers.
“What’s wrong with Shreveport?”
“What’s wrong with Bon Temps?”
He smirked. He liked it when she was challenging him. Always reminding him how perfect she was for him.
“We’d be close to Fangtasia. We wouldn’t have to fly here every night.”
“I like to fly,” she shrugged.
“Oh, I know you do,” he said with a grin.
“So, what do you want? To build a home under the club?”
“I would hate that as much as you would. I had an apartment in mind.”
“An apartment?”
He nodded. “UV protected windows, with a view…”
“Mmh… that doesn’t sound so bad.”
“Wait until you see the view.”
“I don’t care about the view. As long as we’re together.”
She pulled him to her, his lips crashing onto hers. That was how the night almost always ended, except when a dumbass decided to get into a fight with the other dumbasses outside.
“Eric.”
The Viking chose to ignore his progeny, hoping she’d get the hint and leave them alone.
“Eric.”
“Not now, Pam,” he said between two intense kisses.
“We have a problem.”
Brooklynne moved away, both annoyed and frustrated, making the vampire growl.
“What is it?” he snarled.
“Some idiot outside got into a fight with the other idiots outside.”
“Can’t you handle it?”
“It’s Hoyt, Eric. Jessica’s human? The King’s progeny? Rings any bell?”
Eric sighed as he tried hard not to roll his eyes.
“Go, it’s fine,” Brooke told him, not even trying to hide her disappointment.
“I’ll make it up to you,” he said before he stole another kiss from her.
“Oh, I know,” she smirked, not wanting him to leave in such a bad mood.
He chuckled as he got up, letting her slide gently onto the chair. Oh, how it made him feel to see her sitting there. She was never sexier than in his chair. She watched him leave, wiggling her fingers as he turned to her one last time. Left alone, she looked around the room, still feeling the eyes of the people there, humans still wishing they were in her position, vampires unhappy about their mortal queens. But as unhappy as they were, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind, that she was, indeed, their queen.
 ***
Wrapped in Eric’s large grey shirt, Brooke was sound asleep in their bed, in the cool of his arms. She couldn’t remember the last time she got up before noon, but she was always awake before Eric, who only opened his eyes at sundown. She awoke particularly early that afternoon and she would usually stay in bed and go back to sleep but since Sookie was back she had been getting up sooner to spend as much time as possible with her before she had to leave for Fangtasia. She rubbed her eyes as she yawned, another hour of sleep wouldn’t have been so bad.
She didn’t bother dressing up and climbed the ladder carefully. She knew she could make all the noise in the world and it wouldn’t wake the vampire up, but she always tried to be considerate. Human habit.
She shielded her eyes from the sun of the early afternoon as she opened the doors of the fake wooden wardrobe. She heard voices coming from the kitchen and wondered who Sookie could’ve been with as she knew Jason was working. Besides, it sounded like a woman’s voice. It sounded like…
“Tara,” Brooklynne smiled as she stepped into the kitchen. “What are you doing here?” a laugh escaped her as she went to hug her old friend.
“Hey Brooke, you’re up late,” Tara chuckled as she hugged her back.
“Or early, considering she went to bed at 6,” Sookie said with a grimace.
“Don’t tell me you spend your nights with that vampire,” Tara scolded the young telepath as she saw the logo of Fangtasia on her shirt.
“Her nights and her days,” Sookie informed her friend, “he lives here now.”
“He what?”
“Eric moved in months ago,” Brooke said as she made her way to the fridge.
“Are you telling me that psychopath who kidnapped and tortured Lafayette for weeks lives in this house?”
Brooklynne paused.
“First of all, he apologized for that, he even gave him a car. Second of all, yes, Tara, my boyfriend lives with me… in my house.”
“Lafayette’s terrified of that motherfucker, he can give him all the cars in the world it won’t change a thing!”
“And… this is still my house,” Sookie said.
“Actually… it isn’t,” Brooke wrinkled her nose. “The deed’s in my name now… I signed the papers and everything…” she continued as she closed the fridge, a bottle of orange juice in one hand.
“What?” Sookie breathed out as if she had just been punched in the heart.
“Legally I had to… since you were gone for so long… I’m sorry,” she shrugged. “But it’s still your house. It’s always gonna be your house. And Jason’s.”
“Great,” Sookie threw her hands in the air, “good thing I came back or you’d have sold my car next.”
“That’s not fair,” Brooklynne replied, offended. “I took care of your car, I took care of all your stuff.”
“I’m not staying one more second here, I don’t want your boyfriend to think I’m his dinner,” she said as she practically jumped off her chair and made her way to the back door.
“Tara, wait!”
“He’s not gonna hurt you,” Brooke called after her, but Tara wasn’t listening.
Sookie gave a disappointed and disapproving look to her sister before she went after her friend. Brooke shrugged, walked up to the shelf where they kept the glasses and poured herself a full glass of orange juice. She mumbled something as she brought it to her lips.
“And a good day to you to.”
 ***
Sookie was obviously mad when she came back. Tara had just come back from New-Orleans to see her and they had already been in a fight. It all made Brooklynne seriously reconsider Eric’s offer to move in that apartment in Shreveport, the one with the great view. Fortunately, the two sisters didn’t get the opportunity to argue about Eric again, as the phone rang as soon as she came back in the house, having failed to convince Tara to stay a little more.
“Who was it?” Brooklynne asked before taking another sip from her glass.
“Andy,” she sighed. “Jason didn’t come to work this morning and he’s not answering his phone.”
“Did he check his house?”
“He asked me to do it,” she answered as she took her car keys from the counter.
“Want me to come with…”
“No.”
Brooklynne silently watched her sister exit through the back door and quickly get into her car. After Sookie was gone, she washed the dishes, then took a long and cold shower, wondering what she should do while waiting for the night to come.
 ***
Brooklynne’s denial of Jason’s situation unnerved Sookie more than anything. Though Eric acted as usual, detached from any feeling and showing no particular worry, he did find it strange too. Maybe it was too hard for Brooklynne to even imagine that another one of her siblings was missing again out of nowhere with no clue as to where to find them. Or maybe it was just as she said, optimism and trust. Jason would come back. Like Sookie did. Eric didn’t dare say aloud what both he and Sookie thought: hopefully, it wouldn’t take a year.
“He’s probably with a girl,” she said to her sister. “He’ll be back in a week.”
Jason’s disappearance had one positive effect, at least, Sookie and Brooklynne weren’t arguing about Eric anymore. Especially since Eric had said he’d order some vampires to look for their brother. Sookie appreciated it, even if she wouldn’t say it aloud. But there was something else that bothered the eldest telepath, something that had been bothering her ever since she had come back from Alcide’s.
“Wasn’t he happy to see you?” Brooklynne asked as she put a plate down on the table.
“He was very happy to see me,” Sookie answered as she handed her the cutlery. She was cooking Adele’s famous sausage recipe, Jason’s favorite.
“Then what?” she insisted as she finished setting up the table.
“Debbie was there.”
“Yeah. They got back together a few months ago. She’s clean now.”
“Wait… you knew?”
Brooke shrugged. “Alcide helped us a lot when we were looking for you. We spent a lot of time together.”
“He kept whining about that V addicted werewolf who left him,” Eric said as he appeared from the living room.
“She needed help getting clean. Needed support,” Brooke continued as she gave a reproving look to the vampire. Eric ignored it and kissed her temple, a gesture she took as an apology. That was the best she’d get from him anyway.
“We’re out of Tru Blood,” Sookie informed the vampire.
“I know,” he told her as he slid his hands on Brooke’s waist, gently bringing her back to his chest before placing a kiss on her neck, where two puncture wounds could be seen.
Sookie grimaced as she turned around and got back to the stove where the sausages were about to burn. Brooke smiled before she put a kiss on Eric’s lips. She meant to get the glasses from the shelf, but Eric had something else in mind. He didn’t let her go from his arms and captured her lips, tightening his hold on her.
“Could you not?” Sookie sighed. “We’re about to eat.”
“I’m about to eat too,” he smirked, making her roll her eyes.
“Stop it,” Brooke giggled, wiggling out of Eric’s arms. “I’m not your dinner,” she playfully punched him in the arm.
“No?” he asked with a grin and a raised eyebrow.
She smiled back, bit her lower lip, then tiptoed and wrapped her arms around his neck before whispering in his ear.
“No, I’m your dessert.”
“Mmh, I like that.”
“Ew, stop it,” Sookie begged.
“You didn’t even hear what I said,” Brooke told her.
“I can read your mind, remember?”
“Then stay out of my head.”
As Sookie put the pan in the middle of the table, dinner being ready to be served, Eric’s phone started to ring.
“I thought Fangtasia was closed tonight,” Sookie said as she sat down.
“Fangtasia is never closed,” he told her before putting another kiss on Brooke’s forehead. “I’ll be right back.”
Brooklynne sat across from Sookie and started eating, every bite reminded her of her grandmother, even the smell, as if Adele was right there with them.
“You’re the only one who can cook it perfectly.”
“It’s just sausages,” Sookie chuckled.
“Nothing new from Jason?”
“Afraid not… Andy said he’d file a missing person report tomorrow… I said he should have already done it but…”
“You know Jason… he’s just fooling around with a girl.”
“He hasn’t answered his phone in two days, Brooke.”
“So, it died,” she shrugged. “He’s too busy to notice.”
“I hope you’re right,” Sookie whispered, more to herself.
Eric stepped back in the kitchen with an annoyed look on his face. Though Sookie noticed, she didn’t bother asking him about it, she didn’t really care about his problems.
“What’s wrong?” Brooke asked.
“We have to go.”
“You can deal with your problems on your own, Eric,” Sookie told him. “Or ask Pam.”
“It’s Bill,” he said. “He has a job for us.”
