PENITENCE REF

I'm tossing this character reference under a read more AND a trigger warning because it is pretty rough. Dead dove do not eat rough.

TW: suicide mention, self harm, graphic injury (I drew it pretty close to what it actually should look like)

Babygirl I'm sorry but I yeeted your fashion sense and colour scheme out the WINDOW. Similar to Mind/Perseverance, hold up the two refs side by side he's changed SO MUCH in vibe it is insane.

Unlike Perseverance (who got peeled), Penitence covers up instead.

Pain fact! Because calling it a fun fact is still demented! Despite a clear preference for short-sleeves, Penitence stops wearing short sleeves entirely. He thinks that if he keeps his self-harm wounds out of sight it might burden Perseverance less. It doesn't particularly matter, because Perseverance is the one to bandage him up every time.

Follow up pain fact, but his arms do become shaky and weak over time from blood loss and injury. But its just his arms. He does not attack his legs (yet? deciding on that, but atm he only attacks his arms), and post-recovery they do regain most of their strength!

(Also artist pain fact! But don't search up hanging wounds! I almost vomited in my mouth looking at those but I wanted the scars around his neck to be more accurate. They are, in fact, that red and raw irl, especially because his suicide attempt happens on day 10 post-Apathy so it literally just happened in this character ref.) -> his neck wound WILL scar over in time btw, its raw here because his suicide attempt was literally that day

...he's only wearing the skirt because I realized that I ENTIRELY stripped him of the colour red. But also let him keep his gnc clothes come onnnnnnnn. Give him skirt rights blease.

I don't understand self censorship on tumblr fr. Like even before the rise of tiktok people were typing shit like "f*ck" or "r@pe" or whatever. Like girl who do you think this is helping. All you have done is made the post inaccessible to people using screen readers, and the people these words will potentially trigger can easily identify what word is censored and likely already has tags involving it blacklisted. If you truly want to help people who have triggers, just type the fucking word and tag it clearly so that there is one universal blacklisted tag and survivors don't have to hunt down and block a new tag for every goddamn person they follow.

Enough with the "r*pe ment" or "tw: s*xual @ssault" or "kink //". Just fucking say "sexual assault mention" and "rape mention"

psa for new (and old) tumblr users

this is a friendly reminder that literally nobody on this site is required to trigger tag anything. is it a kind thing to do? yes, for sure! especially for broadly upsetting topics (child death, SA, suicide, self harm, pedophilia, etc). one can even politely ask a blogger to tag a topic that triggers them! but please keep in mind that you are asking, not demanding.

nobody is responsible for curating your internet experience but yourself. if a tumblr user posts something innocuous that’s also distressing to you, you can unfollow them! it’s okay!! but it’s not cool or nice to harrass someone or condemn them as being morally bankrupt for not tagging or saying that they can’t do so after you ask.

not everyone can remember to always tag your triggers. me, personally? i always trigger tag bugs and insects because i have an irl friend with an extreme phobia and tagging them on tumblr helps me remember to not bring them up to him in person. i also will try to tag most of those broader topics listed above…. WHEN I REMEMBER TO. i try to keep my blog as inviting as possible, but i never once have said that it is a 100% safe place for everyone because it never will be. my blog is my own personal space to mess around, and there are hundreds of others that you can go to if you don’t feel comfortable on mine!

tl;dr: if a blogger posts material that is triggering to you, the best thing to do is block/unfollow. you cannot enter someone else’s space and force them to stop non-harmful behavior because it causes you personal distress.

i know it's probably been said a million times but please please please stop trigger tagging your posts as some unreadable jumbled mess of letters and numbers and symbols. there is a way to block specific tags on tumblr and many users utilize that system. however, it becomes useless when people try to... censor their trigger tagging? i cannot tell you how many times i have had to see a post i specifically have blocked in tags because somebody came up with bullshit tags. and even with the content filtering system, it tends to be wildly inaccurate and feels as though it's barely functional. therefore, i have to rely on tags.

let's say for example you really hate the mayor from powerpuff girls. seeing his fuckass mustache brings you nothing but rage and agony. but your entire dash seems to be filled with him even after youve blocked the main bloggers of him. so, you go to your beloved tag filtering system and hope to never see that shitty ass mayor again. problem solved, right? no. because theres another mayor-hater in town who hates the mayor SO MUCH they cant even bear to truly spell out his name. so all mayor-related hate posts are tagged with shit like 'm4y0r'. well, easy enough. you dont want to see any mayor content (both malevolent and benign), so you just filter out the 'm4y0r' tag. but what's this?! suddenly the mayors number one fan has begun to 'tag him' for mayor haters thinking that if they censor his name, mayor haters wont be so upset. so now theres hundreds of different combinations of tags. m4yor, may0r, mm44yo0r. all this weird shit you couldnt ever imagine. you try your best to tag all of these influx of mayor posts with tags that try to censor his name, but to no avail. the content settings dont help, because now every post about your favorite character (the mayor from nightmare before christmas) is censored!

i know it's a silly example (honestly) but it's a representation of what i go through almost every single day on this hellsite. i know this was longwinded but. please. for the love of god. just trigger tag your posts normally.

Meanwhile tumblr will take your hand gently and go "oh. You sweet innocent child. You have muted the word 'ntr' I see? Why, I will hide this one post talking about a 'country' in it! Heaven knows, you might see the Bad Word and we cannot allow that!"

And then it will show you like "HEY THIS POST CONTAINS THE WORD NTR! WATCH THE FUCK OUT" and you will be left wondering, "why the fuck is my mutual who has never once talked about ntr in their entire LIFE is suddenly talking about it?", until you check out the post in question and turns out that no. It has just been country all along

Meanwhile on Twitter, the yearly #Rape[character]Week week has already started and there's nothing you can do to stop the sudden and imminent influx of retweets from that one mutual of yours who's crazy into that kind of stuff

Oh and another thing, despite how overprotective tumblr can be with its muting system, the best thing that has ever happened to it was having separate mute tabs for words appearing in tags AND words appearing in posts

Like, you love a character but people have the coldest fucking takes about them? You like a ship but its haters are justifying their hatred of it with fallacies that would make even the ancient Greeks, CEOs of arguing, to shame? Why, just mute the word itself! Leave the tags intact because it's more likely that those who genuinely love the character/ship will merely tag it, meanwhile all the flaming trash about them will stay muted, because they're only named inside the post itself! It's so easy

Meanwhile twitter, the dumbass that it is, might hide the muted words that appear on your TL, but it absolutely will NOT hide them in search results and on people's pages. So if you're browsing your beloved mutual's profile then oh no, despite their careful and dedicated TWing, you will STILL get slapped with the tweet having "rape" in it

God anon you are SO FUCKING RIGHT, it's one of THE worst things about twitter and one reason i love tumblr's tagging & muting functions SO much. Sometimes I have friends who simply have kinks/interests/ships that I just cannot do, but I still love those friends and want to follow them and see their other work! I am so so SO pro "curate your own experience & attend to your needs, block filter & mute so that you have the ideal experience" but twitter is just a HORRID platform to do that on. Especially not being able to append tags to retweets without QRT-ing them- it's so hard when the only way to add a filter-able word to another person's art/post is to QRT it, which ESSENTIALLY makes an entire separate post (and is considered poor manners for many artists who don't like their work QRT'd)

It's SO nice to be on here and simply, filter things and know that if there's anything I need to filter I can simply ask my mutual to append a tag to it, which is easy to do and does not affect the original post in question. And being able to click through and check on muted posts means that if something DOES get caught by the overzealous filter, I can still check and see (plus getting a warning I am going to see something before I see it is often all i need to keep a trigger or squick from bothering me; i have time to prepare myself, hit 'ok' and then engage, with the extra resilience that a simple warning gives me. after all, most of the time, when i'm given a content warning for a movie/show/etc, i still consume the piece of media, just with a little extra delicacy/awareness/preparation to take breaks if i need)

anyhow you're so correct and this is another reason i cannot stand twitter and am glad i'm seeing more people revisit tumblr

HELLO! LOOKING FOR SOME HELP! Not money wise, but still help!

As a disabled person, I cannot reliably (or at all) make image ID's due to fatigue for my fellow disabled people! And you know what? I'm tired of that!

So, I'm looking for someone I can go to to make image ID's I can add to my posts! Both on here and for @creative-cartoon, as that's my other creative blog. And, even if you can't do ID's, maybe I could get checked for any trigger tags to add? I also cant do those that often.

I can't offer money, but I just want to make my blogs more accessible to my fellow disabled people.

under the cut are my requirements.

you MUST allow me to add ID's to the original post, dont reblog it with the ID. most people wont see the addition.

Please fit within my DNI! You can be on the "your on thin ice" part of the DNI, but preferably dont be.

Make ID's for any previous posts, and let me come to you with future posts.
