this was pure insanity from start to finish

I do feel like the way Kyoshi was written in the Avatar reboot was lowkey influenced by the fandom's perception of her. Cause like in the original show she's really just portrayed as a pragmatist who's willing to kill if necessary. Like Aang is conflicted about killing the Fire Lord and she's like "well if I were in your position I'd do it but that's just me. Good luck." And then people started making memes where she's like a murderous psychopath who thinks extreme violence is always the solution. And it was funny at first cause it was just exaggerating for comedy but now everyone thinks she was actually like that in the show when she really wasn't. And then in the remake her introductory scene is her angrily yelling at this 12 year old that he needs to stop being a little pussy and be a ruthless warrior or whatever and the only explanation I can think of is that someone in the writer's room maybe looked at a few too many of those memes.

anyways remember when people were like. genuinely honestly convinced that this HAD to be two different characters because... checks notes... the sm2099 3d model that was [Allegedly] slapped together for the stinger of ITSV a couple weeks before the film Released In Theaters doesn't look the same as the 3d model for miguel that an entire team of character designers with input from co-creator rick leonardi made over the past Solid Four Years At Least to feature in a full 2+ hr movie,, dbdbdbdbd

Like if I showed you these with zero context how shocked would you be that they came from a god damn spider man book. How do I explain to people that this is the same franchise with the silly funny scene in which goofy man dances in the street. I'm so.

I wrote the trio of novels (The Venom Factor, The Lizard Sanction, The Octopus Agenda) in the mid-1990s. There were very beautiful slipcased HCs with illos by Ron Lim, and collectible cards and whatnot; and then mass-market paperbacks. (Unfortunately all the hardcovers at Signed Books Direct appear to be sold out, but we've still got some of the paperbacks left, I think.)

The books were OOP for a good while, but then Titan Books released them as an omnibus a couple years back.
