This girl, spent all her life being perfect, and was going to marry a man she never loved for the sake of her family
On the other hand, this girl spent her life seeing the man she loved with another girl, and not just any girl, but her cousin, and couldn't do anything about it
Oh, let's not forget that Luisa literally worked without rest for the sake of being 'helpful', and was prolly stressed 24/7
Hold on, there's more
Bruno literally didn't expect to receive a hug from HIS MOTHER, and also thought it would be better to live in the walls even after everything is fixed, to sum up, he thought it would be better if he wasn't there
Let's not forget that Mirabel was literally surprised when HER SISTER hugged her, like, c'mon. Is this normal for siblings? Sure. But for Mira, that's totally a surprise
Oh, i almost forgot, our weather queen here had to hide her feelings and be in a good mood 24/7 in order to please everyone for like, 45 years
Boy literally was struck by lightning, like, imagine how hurtful it is to get struck by lightning then shift into, i don't know, 3 people?
Last but not least, the lovebirds. Who never got to enjoy parenthood together, or experience their happily ever after. One was murdered just after his kids were born, and the other watched him getting murdered in front of her eyes, and had to raise three kids on her own, for fifty years, all while making sure their magic never dies
So never be worried that your story has too much whump :)

sometimes, i think about the extra bit of depth alex's romance is given when you date him as a guy and i just gotta. stare at the ceiling for a bit...
#i think his heart events are nice either way but like... there's some extra flavor given to when your farmer's a guy#like him admitting that the farmer is the only other guy that he can be vulnerable around#or how admits that he tried denying his feelings for the farmer at first bc of his own internalized homophobia#and probably some external homophobia too#since george will tell the player that he wasn't sure about alex and them being together bc of his own biases#but seeing how happy alex was with them makes him rethink his views#idk i just really like his heart events i wish ppl appreciated them more#i also think it's interesting to see the game acknowledge homophobia and how it'd actually affect the queer relationships in town#it's definitely nice that the town is pretty damn accepting especially a majority of the romance options' families#but it feels more realistic to have those little bittersweet truths mixed in there too i like it#sorry i've got sdv brain rn so i'm thinking about it a lot#stardew valley#mj.txt#tw homophobia mention#sdv spoilers

it’s also baffling to me that tumblr, home of the ‘why are white men Still being cast as the doctor’ for So many years now (For you know, like over a decade.) is somehow not appalled that they hired a white dude to be the next Doctor because look okay it’s okay if it’s This white man.
I mean, I do not consent to acknowledge that they’ve shoved him in there under any circumstance, but my Only need for the casting of the next person was that it was Not a white man, otherwise i didn’t care who it was, so when they “announced” Gatwa I was satisfied (i am hesitant to say they announced it bc it was more like a tiny footnote than an announcement, oh the disrespect) and it took a whole seven days (it was literally seven days. Yes i counted. it was easy since it was only seven days) it was ‘actually sorry no it’s this white dude we’ve already had before did we forget to mention that???’ and it’s steadily gotten worse and worse.
That This site of all places is not up in arms about both the situation and how it specifically played out is depressing, but also massively and darkly hilarious.
Especially since i Also remember nobody on this site thought casting Whittaker was good enough but literally going backward to a previous white man is?? This is not even a metaphor about diversity getting worse, they literally looked backwards.
But, yeah, tenn/ant with the ‘what the future looks like’ headline is uh... Good???? Not super worrying and ominous?
I feel like i’ve been dumped in some weird parallel universe by reactions to all of this on here like??? the whole way this was done was appalling, the situation is appalling, but i guess the bbc/disney should get a rousing round of applause for accurately judging that nobody would care about their poor actions if the specific white guy they cast was popular enough that next to nobody would care.
( and to the ‘it’s an anniversary ep’ thing, they legit could have just set a couple of eps in the past. i don’t mean they travel to the past. i mean just say ‘hey this ep is set during s4!’ and nobody would care. this show does weirder stuff than this every second episode. and it would still be bad, but how they did it is so much Worse.)

Anybody else slowly disassociating more and more as you slowly lose all of your touchstones in this world?

Especially today that T/witter and G/oogle have basically become unusable.#Literally. Literally. I've been doing official content archiving since I was 11#(because that's the very specific kind of mental illness I have)#and let me tell you that the quality of web search and especially reverse image search only got worse–#in a way that is very evident and noticeable. He meticulously balances a little golden coin on the tip of his thumb, positioning it just so for an elegant coin flip… With a flick of his hand, the coin wobbles off, anticlimactically dropping into the darkness.. He pouts, leaning in to listen for a plonk as the coin hits the water but… nothing…. silence..
A few minutes pass and he shrugs, moving to pick up his bag and just continue his journey elsewhere, when suddenly a faint noise echoes from the well.. an almost cartoonish plopping sound, like wet feet slapping against stone..? The pitter patter grows closer and closer…then stops abruptly. The adventurer cautiously slinks over to the well, only to find.. a creature of some sort, clinging to the walls, staring up at him blankly. - What should he do next?"

That sound was not a part of the normal night-time hum.
Hallowrove does not stop. To the outside observer she might not have heard, but her senses now prickle with awareness, and her breath picks up with her steps in spite of herself. She is armed, of course - the usual bone knife at her belt and revolver in her coat in case of incident - but the noise still sends certain old fears trailing her steps like a man stood uncomfortably close at a soiree.
It might have been nothing.
It was probably nothing.
Counting the number of storefronts before the next well-lit street corner (five) is still a reflex, not a choice.
Three of those storefronts pass with nothing more than the muffled clump of boots on wet cobble. A lone hansom-cab passes, darkly lit water pouring over its wheels like dirty tears. In the wake of it, unmistakably, a footstep. It is the only one, but there need only be one. He is definitely being followed.

In which my two characters share a surprise meeting in the middle of the night, because nothing is more fun to me than letting my guys interact as weirdly and tangentially as possible. :)

So, after watching the anime and reading the manga after seeing the live action I have a few issues with how they did the Arlong Park section (though it's still a super good adaptation overall). Some of them are bigger then others so I'll start with the smallest addition that bugged me even the first time I watched--Nami's chain.
First of all it just doesn't make sense, especially since they changed it so it was Nami who approached him on making maps and getting money for her village. Why would he chain her in a room to do the thing she already promised him to do? Also if he's afraid of her running away, why does he ever let her leave to steal money to buy the village at all?
It doesn't even make sense in manga cannon where he made her make maps for him, because she genuinely has no where to go and Arlong knows that. Arlong is no genius, but I think him using a chain on Nami makes him look stupid. The village people have already kicked her out, and in the LA even her sister hates her. Arlong knows she cares about the village because she's willing to risk her life to get the money to buy it from him. She can't run away because she knows he'll kill the villages in retribution, while she can't even really go home because everyone hates her for 'joining' his crew.
She essentially only has Arlong as a life line no matter how awful he is. He doesn't need to put a chain on her to keep her there because she needs him, both because she needs to buy back the village to save everyone, but also because when she returns to the Island Arlong Park is the only place she can go (especially in the LA where her sister hates her and wouldn't let her sleep in their old house).
The second reason it bothers me is because I can almost guarantee it was added because they worried the audience wouldn't understand just how bad Arlong was to her without him being more physically abusive. That or think the audience would criticize Nami for not leaving as a child. Plus it adds more angst to Nami's character--that was most likely why they changed it to her sister hating her as well.
The thing is I really don't think it was needed. Arlong was bad enough to Nami as it is. She was under constant psychological abuse due to Arlong holding the lives of the villagers over her head. Every injury she got because she was stealing money is his fault. Later during the Fishman Island Arc she has a flashback of the crew not feeding her. We have Arlong shoving her face into her desk because she purposely (or maybe accidentally) misdrew a map. He only started to treat her better as she grew up, but even then it was always clear he saw her as lesser and enjoyed mentally torturing her when he was given the opportunity.
Nami didn't need to be chained for her pain to be 'bad' enough. Her life was already terrible. She was already a victim of abuse, both physical and mental. The chain adds nothing and doesn't make sense in either the LA or the Manga's story.
Third, it does leave a sort of bad taste in my mouth that given the fish-men were coded more as black in the LA, that they had essentially a black coded character (played by a black actor) chaining up a white girl. It feels even worse when they added Arlong constantly talking about fish-men slavery--making it clear from the get go that's why he hates humans. That entire thing is it's own can of worms, but at least to me it does come across as kind of off-putting. When it adds nothing, and easily didn't have to be included it just makes it feel worse.
#one piece#Arlong#op Arlong#Nami#op Nami#live action one piece#idk i think i just don't like how often writers add in physical abuse to add more angst for the character#because they don't think the audience will take the abuse seriously otherwise#even when it doesn't make sense#like in HP it never made sense to me just how physically bad the Durslesy's treated Harry#cuz one of their few character traits was that they wanted to look better then their neighbors and were huge snoops#like realistically these people would be parading Harry around as their charity case and 'aren't we so great that we took this poor boy'#that doesn't mean they wouldn't be abusive#they wouldn't get him gifts unless it was to look good and I'm sure they would let Dudly bully him#and they certainly wouldn't love him--it'd only be an act out in public#but i just don't think JKR thought that would be bad enough#or that her kid readers would understand why Harry wouldn't be happy with them#and they really only get worse in later books with putting bars on his window--like how is that gon'na make them look good to the neighbors#and not get them the gossip around town?#the chain is also stupid because why would Arlong not trust a 10 year-old with zero skills to come back#but be fine with Nami coming and going once she's older and more capable of making it on her own?#and way more likely to become embittered to the villagers who hate her and leave them to Arlong's fury while she gets free#like honestly in the LA Arlong's lucky Nami's a really good person because those people were all awful to her#and given all the shit she had to go through it's shocking that she didn't just say 'fuck you guys I'm out!'#like in the manga it makes sense cuz her sister still loves her and they're still close#so in the very least she's got some support#Also like just lock the door#if she can pick a door lock she can pick a chain lock

While it's a popular headcanon, or seems to be at least, I do not think that Joker can be canonically considered to be albino, since his skin would be much paler than it is, otherwise. (To say nothing of the question of whether or not he has any visual impairments, which is a personal pet headcanon of mine, but is also not clearly confirmed either way.)
However, I do still think that it is an interesting idea to play with for an AU. It adds a tiny bit of an extra dimension to his nocturnal tendencies/lifestyle.

↑ early college era -- still hadn't taken coloring classes, but i had taken anatomy classes and was using my favorite boy as practice outside of classwork :o)
↑ that first one was from when i was drawing my own dakimakura cover bc i figured honeybee would never deliver on an official one (and also a nod to the fact that i had just had my first taste of nutella and it broke my brain (positive)). and i could be wrong but i thiiiink the second one was around when the official one was announced...? maybe?
i just needed a daki so badly. when i FINALLY got my hands on the daki cover, pillows of that size weren't standard over here, so i actually had to make my OWN dakimakura by sewing two standard pillows together... in a larger case comprised of a sheet... which i did all by hand bc i didn't have my sewing machine at the dorm... i was Committed. 😊👍🏻✨

↑ shortly after getting my hands on after winter -- the bouquet is a drawing of a scene from his route ;w; he's so sweet... and so clumsy... top left is from the time when i was watching the end of clannad during all-nighters while working on assignments. can you tell just from that sentence that i was Quite Unwell at the time? KJASNFKJN. (still love miku!oushirou so much tho. honestly love this style. i want to study my art from around this time at some point, maybe regain some things that were uhhh Firmly Discouraged, to put it nicely, during my later college years.)

SCAD Profs I Will Not Name made me feel like shit for drawing "too anime", then a couple of years later said their "anime" students were their favs, so my style was. very mixed and not confident. skjdnf.

↑ selfship-before-selfship "wife blog" art from 12yrs ago!! kazuaki, the series's artist, has drawn catboy oushirou in design docs before, so he'll sometimes pop up in my art as well ksjdnfnkj. also, naturally, self insert art babey. and he's being a little asshole ksjnd.
↑ the one on the left is like. right around when i graduated?? the one in the middle was for his bday, probably 2020, when i was just starting to get back into art, the one on the right is a college sketch that i redrew as practice to ease myself back into drawing in 2020.
↑ bday cupcakes for the bday boy!!!! around like. 2013 or 2014? i used to do a lot of baking for his bdays before i had dietary restrictions kJNASKJFN, though i sometimes sneak a little treat in on his bday if i can find one.
maybe as i sift through posts on my old blog i'll collect all of the weird art i've done and post them in chunks like this. nice way to put them someplace without spamming people with old curiosities ksjdnfk.

A few doodles on paper from these last days... the goal is allowing myself to draw wonky and unfinished stuff and calling it a day.
Used references for everything.
Classic Luuram first.
The guy who's about to punch Ramsey is a Clavat named Gabriel and this is from Year 3. Let's say he's grabbing Ramsey with his other half-hidden hand even if idk how.
Délia saving Roy (yes it's him) is from Year 2 Chapter 1. :'( They were in the river Belle just before and all that.
