Anyone figured that Asuka was the mangaka's favorite poster girl for fanservice? She sure was, the way I see it! And it's all about the ass. Asuka has one heck of a tremendous, amazing ass and nice figure to go along with it. There's definitely more evidence I could post, but the rest of it is quite NSFW. Suffice to say (and take it as a spoiler alert!), Asuka is seen naked a fair amount in the manga. More than Misato and Rei COMBINED, if that makes sense. I think the mangaka must have had the time of his life in there. If you're adventureous enough to find out, there's a few good websites that has the series scanslated in all of its entirety, or you could buy on Amazon or other sites.

In the Pathos route of the Shinji Ikari Raising Project, you can choose what kind of job Shinji will grow up to have. Two of them are becoming a Tokusatsu actor and becoming an overseas volunteer helping foreign countries. It's actually really wholesome!

Bonus:

One of the other jobs is becoming a stage director, effectively becoming Hideaki Anno lol.

The Shinji Ikari Raising Project Omnibus Volume 1

So, first of all, fun story. Indigo sent me some busted-ass volumes for this (I ordered it all at once). Not like "oh it might have been bumped in shipping and resulted in that". I don't even know how they thought shipping me them was a good idea, just look at volume 1's condition.

So yeah, safe to say I'm in the process of getting replacement items from Indigo for it, but I'm not gonna sit around and not read these volumes.

So yeah, The Shinji Ikari Raising Project. Inject it right into my veins.

It's classic Rom-Com with a side of ecchi. Yeah, there art's not really anything stellar, sure the overall plot is almost entirely lost and sort of "there", and yeah it's definitely more than a little sexist. It's totally fair to think that because of that it's not for you, I 100% get it. But for me, it's a memory of the older anime series that I used to watch. Of all their ridiculousness and oddity, and all their attempts to fill holes in an overall rocky concept. It just gets me.

Of course, being a spinoff of Neon Genesis Evangelion makes all the difference in the world as well since it adds to the nostalgia factor.

There's not really anything to say about it outside of how fun it is for NGE fans and classic romcom enjoyers. It's just... fun. It's enjoyable, it's silly, it's cliched, it's basically everything you'd want to not see in your modern RomCom series. But, because it's older, deals with older material, and is right into that feel, it's right at home.

Plus, who wouldn't want more of Suzuhara's accent translated? It's hilarious.

Or what about getting to see Gendo and Yui together as a happy couple and not-a-giant-robot-but-also-rei-but-also-not and the abusive father that will do anything to claw back what he once had.

Or maybe you'd like to see more of what Nagisa and Shinji were getting up to in NGE?

What about Gendo just being silly 24/7 and introducing the weirdest yet funniest ideas?

I think The Shinji Ikari Raising Project is definitely something that either clicks or doesn't. If you're a fan of NGE you'll probably be a fan of this, if you can stomach some of the more "dated" aspects so to speak. I've really loved this first omni/3 volumes, so I'm super glad I decided to pull the trigger and grab them all. It's great fun and another really light and effortless series to enjoy.

Which I think is why Rising doesn’t quite work. Asuka’s insecurities are driven by her mother’s insanity and suicide, both of which were the result of the latter’s involvement with Evangelion Unit-02. The only reason Rei Ayanami exists is for the role she’ll play in the Human Instrumentality Project. Shinji Ikari’s personality is a direct result of his Mom “dying” and his Father being a generally abusive asshole, both of which were the result of the Instrumentality plot. Why is that? It’s because, at least for Evangelion, the characters are fundamentally tied into the narrative of canon. Even something as batshit crazy as Shinji And Warhammer 40k, which stars characters who are wildly OOC compared to their canonical counterparts, tries to maintain many of the fundamental dynamics or over-arching superstructure from the show. Most, like HERZ or (my personal all-time-favorite) Taking Sights distort or deviate from canon, rather than throw it away completely. Almost all Evangelion fanfiction avoids going Pure AU. Which got me thinking about which media adapt well to AU format. (Warning: review and extended essay about what makes an AU work beneath the break.) But Rising is such an AU that it’s all-but-impossible to gel with the canonical source material. Now, anyone who’s read my fanfiction knows that I appreciate a good AU. In this universe, Shinji and Asuka are longtime friends, the Ikaris are a happy family, Rei is a distant relation of Shinji’s, and there are no Angels or apocalypses to be found. The Shinji Ikari Rising Project takes place in an alternate universe (AU), ostensibly glimpsed in the surrealist final episodes of the 90s anime. Now that I’m in a (marginally) better headspace, and can safely explore the edges of Evangelion (the EoE, if you’ll pardon the joke) without falling into a depressive spiral, I decided to actually power through my bête noire of Evangelion spin-offs. I must have skimmed the first few pages a dozen times, always putting it back because it didn’t feel right.

In addition to the community-suggested prompts currently being collected, a set of themes has already been picked ahead of time! These were chosen to celebrate Shinji and Kaworu's history together in the Evangelion franchise over the years:

A brief overview on each of these below!

Note: Since each day will have more than one prompt, you don't need to use both of each day's prompts if you'd rather focus on one - while you can use both if you wish, you can also just pick the one you like best, or mix and match prompts from different days if you'd like!

Day 1 (4/27): Drafts

The week starts off with a day dedicated to the drafts that started everything and are the basis for what was later seen in the anime! Here you can use any design or story elements found in concept art and the episode 24 draft scripts (more information on the drafts here, as well as in the scripts of Draft 1 and Draft 2)!

Day 2 (4/28): Anime

Day 2 centers on their dynamic as seen in the original Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995) continuity, where their brief and tragic yet loving and impactful relationship was introduced to the world!

Day 3 (4/29): Manga / Karlshaun

Next up is a day focused on Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's Neon Genesis Evangelion manga and its depiction of Kaworu and Shinji's dynamic, often known as Karlshaun - a take on their relationship that's quite different from the usual, but still compelling and beloved all the same!

Day 4 (4/30): Spinoffs

In order: NGE2; Campus Apocalypse; Petit Eva.

The Evangelion franchise has several spinoffs, from video games such as NGE2 and Shinji Ikari Raising Project to manga like Campus Apocalypse and Legend of the Piko Piko Middle School Students. Day 4 is for exploring Shinji and Kaworu's relationship and shared moments in these spinoffs!

Day 5 (5/1): Rebuild

Day 5 is dedicated to the Rebuild of Evangelion/Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition movies' continuity, where Shinji and Kaworu had a movie centered on them and the concept of Kaworu being in a time loop was introduced!

Day 6 (5/2): 2928 / Post 3.0+1.0

The ending of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time showed a glimpse of Kaworu and Shinji as adults (29 and 28 refer to their ages) in the new eva-less world; day 6 is for exploring what their adult life and future might be like!

Day 7 (5/3): Free Day (Kawoshin Day)!

Lastly, the week wraps up on Kawoshin Day with a free day! This is where you can do whatever you'd like that didn't fit any of the week's prompts, or use a prompt you liked that didn't make it in! 💜💙

Thanks a million, I've been writing Eva prompts on and off especially Shinji and Asuka for a years now but I sometimes worry I'm too ooc so it means a lot to hear you think I'm not.

As for the other question. I've read Angelic Days, but never got into Rising Project to much so I had forgotten that version of Gendo, but let's see. Probably not in the mermaid AU and the other's are continuations of canon, but in the actor AU i've started writing, the idea that Gendo and Kyoko are eccentric stage parents who try to get their kids to confess their feelings is almost too good to pass up so I will have to use that lol.

I HAVE TOO MANY FAVORITE KAWORU PICTURES AND NONE ARE ON THIS PHONE RIGHT NOW. I’ve lost so many of my favourite ones, probably 🥹 I’m sure I had so many awesome ones so if I get access to my old gallery again I’m pulling them up.

For artistic purposes, these mean a lot to me… I tend to think about the little kitty idea that got discarded. Only for him to strangle one to death, lol. Yoshiyuki Sadamoto’s Kaworu will always be everything to me.

I also like when he looks a little gay. I will admit the outfit in the second one is such a serve though and he’s so cute. I love Rei & Kaworu being together.

He also did not need to do all this. It bewilders me. I

And this is one of favorite scenes in the anime because he’s just a silly kitty and I love him so much and his warm smile fills me with joy 🥹 Shinji was waiting for him… and he came.

Also the kaworu to shinji proximity makes me giggle.

I find the CGS from Shinji Ikari Raising Project really funny even if cute because they’re so yaoiful. I like scenes where he looks distressed or mentally ill like near his end in 3.0 or the build up to when he cried for the first time, in the manga. Or when he looks Sooooo Tiny!!!

In regards to silly funny images… I lost them for now.
