Hey there, that's great to hear!! 💜💙 2928 refers to Kaworu and Shinji as adults, as briefly seen at the end of the movie Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. 29 and 28 refer to their ages!

Kawoshin + Touching

Fine. The thing that really gets me about Kawoshin is the fact it’s mutual. Not even in terms of “they love each other,” that’s like saying the sky’s blue. We all know that. But the statement “I’ll take care of you” originates from both parties. Shinji’s positively horrified when Kaworu puts on the DSS choker. He doesn’t want to lose them or for them to take the fall for him. Shinji doesn’t think himself worthy of being protected (which is outright stated in 1.0), is terrified of letting people in to begin with but deep down even more horrified of losing them, and wants to be worth something, which he feels is temporary even when praised thanks to most of his interactions with other people centering around his ability to pilot the Eva. And on top of that a 100% success rate is the base expectation. Kaworu sees their own life as worth less than nothing unless it should make Shinji happy if not for a fleeting moment, thanks to the fact they were raised and created with the sole assignment of ending the world and instead fell irreparably in love with Shinji on their own will. Proof that what they’re meant to do is love a painfully human boy rather than place the final nail in the coffin of humanity. Shinji, while seeing himself as of no value or want to others, does explicitly tell Rei that she’s worth more than what she can do for others and that piloting the Eva isn’t her only tie to other people. Shinji and Kaworu literally could and would fix each other should Shinji have had another week to fully realize Kaworu’s state of mind. “I love you I won’t let you get hurt any further” vs “I’m not letting you go so help me god.” They WILL take take good care of each other they WILL take good care of each other everything they feel is good if only they would live there.
