There was a group in the 1790s called the United Scotsmen, too, who were planning... basically the exact same thing as the United Irishmen, only in Scotland and with the Dutch rather than the French. and I just. can you imagine if both of their plans had worked. if England in the late 1790s had been hit by angry Irish people with the French army on one side and angry Scottish people with the Dutch army on the other. there's an alternate history novel I would definitely actually read
