cw for discussions of suicide and suicidal ideation but i'm thinking about tsv saints again and wondering if they're even capable of self-destruction (self-iconoclasm?). like, every saint we've seen so far, no matter how much suffering they're being forced to endure and how much of their self-awareness they've retained, has only been able to die if they're dispatched by another character - with the exception of the woundtree saints, which are generated by suicide as an act of protest, but they're an intentional outlier. this isn't a "should saints be euthanised if their quality of life is determined to be below a level that is considered acceptable" debate because that's a whole different ethical can of worms. i just wonder because there's an argument to be made that in taking away their ability to intentionally end their own lives, the hallowing procedure attacks another facet of personal bodily autonomy by denying the right to harm or terminate that body. compounding the horror of it all further.

Sherlock & Co. fandom, this is serious

This latest episode of Sherlock & Co. (a case of identity part 2) has wronged the DID community. Severely.

I'll make it brief.

In a podcast where the title character has DID, you'd expect we'd get good representation.

Instead, we get a scene in which a character is revealed to have flirted with his step son under an alias for money, this character then proceeds to hold a knife to someone's neck and then attempt to commit suicide, all the while struggling with falling in and out of character as this persona.

In a podcast where the title character has DID, the first tangible piece of representation we get for this disorder, is in a scene with an incestuous scammer threatening violence.

This is what's called "demonization." In this episode, Joel Emery is demonizing dissociative identity disorder.

Maybe telling people to kill themselves is bad actually?? Some of y'all are wild, why is the first thing you can think to ask on a new platform if you can send one of the worst kinds of harassment to people??
