Macaque: "I know your latest discovery has thrown you for a loop, between that and Azure and the Lady Bone Demon trying to get inside your head..."

Macaque: "You know what! Just play the game—that'll teach you everything you need to know, for once."
(4x10 The Jade Emperor)
-
Yeah Macaque. Just Azure and the Lady Bone Demon trying to get inside MK's head. Those are the only two people, there's no one else. Just Azure and LBD.

Hello! How are you doing? Hope you're doing well this month. What so you think s5 of Monkie Kid will be like? Some say it'll be a tragedy, others are hoping for a breather arc. Which camp are you on? How long do you think until MK confronts SWK about his issues with him? I dread it yet really want them to get it done with. What do you think happened to make Wukong surrender to the Jade Emperor, as well as him fighting against the Camel Ridge trio before killing Azure and sealing the other two? When do you think the furnace burning happened in the timeline? What is your opinion on the relationship between Azure and Wukong? Drink water and sleep early! Have a great month.
Sorry this is late I've been busy! I'm doing well thank you!!! How are you?
Season 5
I'm more for a tense breather. I'm hoping it's more personable. A greater look into the character, their motives, past, mental health, and interactions (all of this applies double to wukong) but we need to start slowly building with drama happening in the background (like in season 2).
I want to see more interactions but not just common pairs like Tang and Pigsy or mk and Mei (I want that too but other dynamics need focus) but Mei and Mr tang or Sandy and Pigsy (actually anyone with sandy would be awesome thank you) or sun wukong and everyone (minus mk and maybe macaque) or even common pairing that hasn't had the focus recently like demon bull family. Characters are lmk strong suit and they are not using it to their full advantage in later seasons. one of the problems with S4 is that the crew had no reason to really care that much about wukong other than the surface level 'someone being in danger'. The plot demanded so this season should hopefully fix that. best case scenario would be having Wukong and Sandy interact since Sandy would be good for wukong. Still, it would also bring Sandy more into the focus.
but I also want there to be rising political tensions in the background between Heaven, the underworld, and maybe the dragons too over who will lead Heaven, and maybe Wukong is stuck in between as a representative for the mortal realm. Wukong knows that stuff is going to hit the fan and is trying his darndest to keep things civil for the sake of the mortal realm but also just so mk can catch a goddam break (he needs it). it's not a repeat of season two, wukong stays mostly in the mortal realm, flying off to meetings occasionally after training mk but is back by the next ep and mk knows about the raising tensions but just doesn't have to deal with it directly. it's the added stress of trying to prevent multiple wars between the realm that starts pushing wukong over the edge, not that he'll tell anyone because he is totally fine. Whether or not the breakdown is in this season or save for a special/season 6 doesn't matter too much but by the end, things are getting worse(not by wukong's fault!!!).
I want to find out so much about wukong. we are missing a very key component of his character ie his reasoning/ thinking behind every action. everything we do know about him has to be taken with a grain of salt because it's from a Bisa source. the only non-bisa source we have for wukong is memory scroll. we can understand certain things about his character like him being lonely/depressed but it's not really put at the for front and you have to look for it which most people aren't willing to do for him. This all needs to go and soon but personally, I don't think we should get it until he has more connection with Mei, Pigsy, Sandy, and Mr Tang. this will add more weight to the scene. I also think Mk will need to try and fail to confront Wukong many times but it's not until something really bad happens that he'll actually get through to wukong and get an answer.
Wukong surrenders to Jade Emperor
my personal headcanon is that Wukong saw a vision of the world ending or something bad happening if they continue their mission (maybe the burning of FFM?) so he surrendered to the Jade Emperor. maybe made an oath with the Jade emperor not to harm his family if he didn't fight. I believe he made the decision believing that the Brotherhood would save him and that as long as he didn't fight heaven wouldn't be able to do anything. only issue is the Brotherhood never came and of cause after the furnace Wukong did fight back with the havoc in heaven hence allowing heaven to burn down the mountain.
fighting against the Camel Ridge trio
I don't think Wukong had much of a choice in the matter. I do think he was mad at being abandoned and left for dead but also disgusted by what they had done t the surrounding the around. Camel Ridge trio were celestial beings and didn't quite understand the devastation they were causing since Azure at least only seemed interested in the humans while wukong who grow up as a normal wild monkey has a better understanding of how interconnected it all is and is horrified that his once brothers could do this. (also Azure died? I thought he was just sealed in the scroll like the others?!)
furnace burning
We know that it occurred from the spider queen special hence I don't see why there would be much change so it would've happened similarly to jttw aka after wukong was captured but before being thrown under the mountain. I think Wukong was captured and tortured for a couple of days for information or just to make him suffer and then sent to execution bloke where they failed to execute him three times in front of the whole of heaven(hc he has stage fright because it reminds him of this). Wukong taunted them the whole time (hc because he thought they were just torturing him since 'there is no way heaven is actually struggling to kill me') as a last resort they attempted to burn him to death in the furnace. I think he did develop red eyes from this but just covered them as soon as he saw them hence why he doesn't have them under the mountain with Macaque.
relationship between Azure and Wukong
Wukong definitely saw Azure as a big brother figure and certainly looked up to him a great deal. Azure opinion of Wukong was more complicated. at first, wukong was simply an asset to Azure but as time grow he grow to respect and love Wukong (both the romance and brotherly angles are interesting and I have no preference). I believe once that respect and love were formed but before the takeover heaven plan was made the relationship was positive and would have had a good influence on wukong but... after the takeover heaven plan Wukong was made an asset again, an asset and then a scapegoat twice over. it's a shame tbh Azure could have been the positive older figure wukong needed. I'm thinking about talking about them since I want to highlight something.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I'd like to ask, what's with the art of your Time Swap AU SWK that has him nailed by his clothes and looking so distressed like on the verge of a breakdown, and perhaps a little drunk, all in a red background, with the words "Because a monster's all you are"? This seems super ominous, especially with the red. When is it set? After s4 or during it? Should we be worried? Will TW!SWK be sealed for 500 years if, or when, he goes on a rampage, like his canon counterpart? Will the JTTW fam get a happy ending in this AU, especially with SWK? I am worried.
Have a good month! Eat your meals regularly.
You're like my weekly/monthly theorist HAISOAOPS
But, I shall answer your doubts
- the phrase "a monster's all you are" is from a song, but it basically explains that sun wukong is a monster and nothing else. Well, in his ink version eyes, at least. Like in the original lmk! Where mk is just y'know, chaos and all that.
- it's during S4, specifically the eps with mk fighting his ink version, but it's wukong instead.
- depends on lmk goes.
- like I said in another post, it'll depend on how S5 goes. If it goes well, it'll go wrong here, and viceversa. But I do like the sealing part quite a lot, y'know?
- well, the ending is somewhat the same, they do get a cool celebration party at the beach and just relax, but who knows what ending they'll get at the end.
Have a great month!

If S4 implies anything, we might get some FOUND FAMILY with everyone supporting Wukong and taking over his burdens, like yayyy because mostly he’s a troublesome celestial monkey to them but like WHEN PEOPLE SHOW SWK THEY ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT HIM 🥺 what gets to him more, that or Pigsy’s yelling. What gets to YOU more which devastating monkey face
honestly all of lmk screams found family BUT YEAH S4 WAS SHOUTING TO THE ROOFTOPS
it had mk struggling with his guilt and how that applies to his identity as a hero (as himself), and the funny thing about identity is that it is tied so closely with a person's family because that's who you're around the most as you grow up. those are the people that raise you and are raised with you. they are the people who bring belonging or displacement
family is one of the first aspects that shape a person's identity
and MK's family has always been up in the air
where is he from? they don't say, but he lives above Pigsy Noodles! does he have parents? nothing explicit is given. but MK does see Pigsy as a father figure! he even calls him Dadsy in private! what about siblings? he seems to be an only child. BUT HIS BEST FRIEND IN THE WORLD IS MEI!
guys, i don't think MK ever really knew or was sure that the people he lived with and loved were his family. me, personally, i think he always wished and hope that they all saw each other as family, and maybe by s4 he establishes to himself that they are a family even when left unsaid. but s4 also confronts him with a past of his identity he doesn't know (or can't remember. or doesn't want to) and the only way he can deflect and distance himself from it mentally is by clinging to the found family he has
then Azure comes in and frees his friends, still trapping swk in the scroll and then the scroll breaks when MK fights him. and in MK's breakdown he says, "I don't even have a real family," proving that MK did hope and desire that his friends were his family, but could not believe that it was true. Pigsy is a distant guy and looked to almost deny the fact that MK was his son earlier in the season. but then you hear MK's admission to being alone and not having familial ties and you see how Pigsy looks so hurt by it and T^T
ough, s5 you better break me with more found family drama

MEI AND MAC MAKING EACH OTHER GOOD/BAD…
If macaque makes Mei vengeful or spiteful or whatever, then they’ll end up like how shadowpeach is now
I think. happiest way for both of them is Mei makes macaque better (to some extent), and macaque makes Mei “worse” enough so that she actually more or less stands up for herself/really talks to mk
YEAH!!! YOU GET IT!!!
(although considering the level of mental illness mk’s got going on right now, i feel like he wouldn’t be able to approach that sort of healthy communication, and end up Not Listening Again and Making Things Worse as this becomes part of the Ongoing Mental Breakdown that i’m hoping s5 will be for him) (this is the best outcome for me. i love mk and want nothing more than to see him suffer)

i loved ur lmk fandomification rant, now i'm curious- who's your favorite (non-monkey!) lmk character (and any insights you want to share with the class? :eyes:)
Mei, Lady Bone Demon, and probably Azure!
But I could go on a long rant about any character in the show tbh, they're all my favorite character with the 3 I listed and MK being my "favorite favorites" (except maybe Jin and Yin, sorry guys. I do like their place as a sense of normalcy for MK, acting as the "monster of the week" antagonists in 4x01).
Little miss "I would watch my sword break 1000 times so long as I used it to protect the ones I care about" is my girly. Watched her best friend die in the A Hero is Born (AHIB) special and held onto that as a grudge all the way until 3x10. She just wants to see everyone make it out alive, but I doubt she's ready to pay the price required for that. No one in this show is. Mei watched Peng run away in 4x14 and wanted to kill that bird with her bear hands. She took everything Subodhi said to her in 4x09 so personally, like Subodhi probably knew she would, which allowed her to build off of MK's plan so they had a chance at succeeding. She's at her god damn limit. Her episodes (1x03, 3x02, & 4x05) are some of my favorites. She drives a motor cycle, she wears lipstick, she's a gamer, she wields a kick-ass sword, she's a dragon. In 3x12 she's willing to sacrifice Wukong for the sake of the world and more specifically MK. "Don't you realize you're hurting the people who care about you the most?" She's "fakin' it until she's makin' it". Literally what more could you ask for in a character.
Then you have LBD, who fights for a perfect world supposedly for mortal souls yet discards people the moment they no longer have a use to her. Ultimately I think she uses destiny as a crutch, as her way to cope with all of the suffering in the world. "I won't let you take my Destiny from me". You wonder how much it was about perfection and how much it was about her ability to change anything in the world she watched play the same tragedy over and over again. For the first 3 seasons she seems to be acting on destiny itself, she's the narrative our protagonists are running from. Then Embrace Your Destiny comes around, and you realize she was just as doomed by the narrative as anyone else. Doomed to a world of pain, unable to fix anything. The "to pain" scene is one of my favorite scenes, just in general. "Do you really still think the universe wants anything, from any of us?" "Don't you?" LBD and MK's foil is so fucking good. A delightful antagonist who they justify but don't victimize. Killed Spider Queen on screen. What more can I say.
Now Azure. Sweet Sweet Azure. The tragedy of Unckie Lion. Sincerely wanted to make the world a better place and was willing to sacrifice anything for it, just like LBD. I think about his scene with the Jade Emperor at least once a week. "How is it you come to stand before me today Azure, was there a point where you questioned it, or where you too oblivious in your own delusion to realize you were a mere piece in somebody else's game." Fucking insane. His abandonment issues are off the charts. He was gay for Wukong. He thought he could fix the world, and instead barely left it unbroken. He died with the power he couldn't use to change anything. He let himself become a pawn (continuing LMK's habit of manipulating royalty) thinking he could somehow avoid his fate. But the only way to win was to stop playing, and at every opportunity he had to stop he kept pushing. Moving forward. Just like LBD he was coping with the suffering of the world in his own way. It didn't work. Does it ever? Maybe MK will figure it out, maybe he'll leave the world better than he found it, but it's looking bleak. The 3 way foil between LBD, MK, and Azure haunts me.
And then maybe you realize every character in this show is just trying to cope with the world in their own way, and you stare at a wall for 3 hours about it.
Overall I think this image encapsulates it best:
