A bit of random data before we jump into the rankings for listed fandoms …
Since the numbers post yesterday we've had signups for nearly 60 new auctions, bringing the current total to 779. That beats the number of signups for 2016/7, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, and puts us withing spitting distance of our record last year of 819. Can we do it? Will we do it? Signal boost FTH posts and encourage others to participate. More money raised for good causes, more fanworks in the world — it's a win/win!

I had issues on my end with some technicalities and media’s. eg a lot of characters from the hatchetfield musicals by team starkid were just submitted as hatchetfield which made it harder to search for them to identify them and get pictures etc. If those and similar fandoms could be submitted with what musical etc they’re from that would be great :)

Honestly, I'm sick of people using 'budget cuts/restraints' as a defense for RWBY not being up to scratch, because the biggest problems in RWBY really don't feel like budget issues.
Like RWBY could still be poser-era quality with shadow people walking around and jerky walk animations and I could not care less. I'd poke a little good-natured fun and laugh a bit here and there, but I'd be fine with it actually. But the writing is bad, the time management choices are always bad, the way the writers can't kill their darlings is bad, the way the writers both seem to be trying to conform to the fandom and critics and yet never seem to understand the actual criticism they get is bad, the way there just doesn't seem to be heart and soul and care put into the show, the way they actively avoid timelines and seem to not know what a show bible is... All that is bad, and that doesn't feel like that sort of thing is easily waved away with "they had no budget."
Also maybe they'd have more budget for RWBY if they weren't doing the DC crossover, but I'm not an accountant so I don't know. I'm just generally done with the whole... Defense of RWBY's budget problems being responsible for any mishap.

I feel like negative review of the crossover comes from this sense of RWBY "not knowing its place." It's the internet's punching bag. It's "only good for fanart." It got bad after volume 3. What business does it have rubbing elbows with DC Comic's line of legendary characters or an Anime spin off straight from Japan by THE Studio Shaft?
It's breaks the narrative that so much of the HTDM, RWDE and Critics have established. And frankly, they feel attacked. Something they've lambasted is going strong but... it's not. RWBY infuriates them. Nobody should like it.
It's something Council of Geeks tackled in her video on Ego and Fandom where some fans cannot stand the fact they are wrong. Especially with how they're sort of public as far as Social Media is concerned. So they wrap themselves up in their echo chamber of their's to reassure their fragile beliefs.
They are, essentially, the real sensitive snowflakes.

Attention: If you’re a normal RWBY poster who doesn’t send hate or get mad at RWDE’s existence. This post doesn’t apply to you.
To those that do.
I’ve never seen a fandom more insecure than rwby in all my days. Paper thin. Absolute baby behavior.
Every fandom ever has critics. Loud ones. Annoying ones. Etc.
RWBY in my 20+ years in assorted fandoms is the only fandom I’ve ever seen take a critics as a personal offense and can’t handle their existence. Even when they tag their complaints properly. I’ve seen multiple RWDE posters get harassed daily and have their queer and disabled identities questioned because they don’t celebrate Rooster teeth’s scraps.
Enjoy your show. No one is saying you can’t.
Other people don’t and they’re allowed to voice it. And they’re allowed to voice what they find problematic about it and the multi million dollar company behind it. i
DC, Marvel, Naruto, MHA, Owl House, SU all have their massive critics. It’s what happens when a series is popular. It gets torn to shreds by people. And that’s okay.
Why is RWBY so damn special ? Unless you’re are you saying RWBY lacks something that it can’t stand the same criticism all these other media experience? Because that’s what it sounds like to me?
Get over it and touch some fucking grass instead of sending people anon hate because they don’t like your show.
Those people are the worst fucking fans I’ve ever seen. Loser behavior.

Anyone who uses Undertale as the base measurement for "bad fandom" I swear has never experienced what an actually bad fandom is like. I have made an icerberg picture to sort of explain what I mean.
Undertale was kind of a victim of a really bad game of internet telephone. Where it was "Some people are being weird -> The community is weird -> The community is a cesspool of toxicity" which was just really strange given the fact that Undertale was mainly just an assortment of AUs with a few very entitled people in it. People's personal issues just got made public and since they were involved with the fandom that suddenly meant the whole fandom was like that. FNAF similarly had it's rotten people in it and like- one AU is all it got popular for in terms of its bad rep.
Then we move down a level to more "ship war" type of places. RWBY and MHA are NOTORIOUS for their ship wars. You can breathe in the direction of someone who ships something like Bakugo x Deku and all of the sudden your twitter account is gone because of mass reporting. Some of you may not remeber Google+ but oh man. The RWBY fandom there? It was something. If you didn't ship Bumblebee get ready for a world of hate. I personally never shipped it and oh boy if I voiced that it was war in my notifications. I thought the relationship felt out of place.
Moving to Overwatch and Soulsborne, it's a lot of pretentiousness. Not necesarrily horrible but a lot of pretentiousness. Overwatch is also full of a lot of sexism and racism in its communities on top of the pretentiiousness. No one can agree on anything when it comes to balancing heroes. If you're a woman in high elo you're boosted, if you're in low elo then you're just a wannabe e-girl. Soulsborne suffers from people conflating "accesibility features" with "Easy mode" which tends to drive people away from the games.
Moving down another level, you have Anime Power Scalers and Warhammer. Power scalers are kind of the bane of the existence of any community. They suck the fun out of a lot of things and tend to spread their way into other communities. Everyone knows of the "who would win Goku or Superman" and the fights that break out over it get oddly extreme sometimes? Warhammer (and this is coming from my friend who is in the fandom who helped me make this) tends to be very stuck up about figurines. And a lot of it is complaining about not having figurines. Also from what I've seen from one of my other Warhammer mutuals is the lack of self awareness about the subject matter and bigotry is often ignored in the community.
Lastly we have the "your home address, work place, and family photos are now on the internet" type of fandoms (idol includes corporate vtubers, and kpop and jpop fans). If you disagree with ANYONE or criticize anything, get ready to lock all of your social media. Not only do they suffer from general bigotry but also the fact that any sort of differing opinion will get you harassed. DC's is anything about Synder. Marvel is anything about literally any woman character. I have seen the nuclear fallout of the aftermath of kpop fans or vtuber fans doxxing people for breathing near their fave. We're talking locked accounts and everything.

1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
Only one! Most of mine are all in FF.net, maybe one day I'll post them there, but for now, yeah, single fic.
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
Today (10/30/2023), measly 45k, but I'll be posting two chapters this week, so... 50k soon?
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Now, Spider-Man and Batman, but I've mostly published Doctor Who fics, usually crossovers.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Just AO3, that is Arachnomaly. If I include the works in FF.net, then, by favorites, it would be:
5) Maelstrom in the Darkness - An Essay on Blindness: What if Uzumaki Naruto had been incurably blind from birth? Oh, I wish I had time to write more, so many ideas, so LITTLE TIME!
4) Smoke on the Water - The Untold Stories! Based on the popular "Smoke on the Water" story by Sir-Mercutio-McHuffer, who authorized me to publish chapters as a separate, sorta-not-exactly-canon bonus chapters!
3) Different Doctors Meet a Most Unique Universe: after a talk with @zaziecurie , I started writing this collection of short stories about The Doctor in Steven Universe's reality, different takes as his many incarnations (4, 10 and 12 posted, but I had other ideas)
2) Justice-Whimey : formerly my longest fic to date, it's a tie with the first place, The Tenth Doctor is a patient in Arkham Asylum, DC Universe, in an reality-altering adventure;

1) ARACHNOMALY! Surprise, two months of posting and it is my most favorite story at the moment at FF.net, though it's always a one chapter behind from AO3's schedule (less than half of its ao3 equivalent in kudos as well).
5. Do you respond to comments?
Sure, always! I don't have too many comments, but what I get, I try to reply on the same day or the following, at most!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
My short story Destiny is Not A Game , in FF.net, based on the finale of the game X-Men: Destiny.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
What is this 'happy ending' people talk about so much?!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Hate in ao3? Maybe... overzealous criticism?
The worst stuff, as expected, is in the reviews in FF.net, but, again, it's FF.net, so what can you do against great guest reviewers such as...
9. Do you write smut fic? If so, what kind?
Used to, but they are for my wife's eyes only !
10. Do you write crossovers? If so, what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Currently, Spider-Man x Batman comics, but the craziest were my forays into Doctor Whooves stories (my focus, as always, had been more of a whovian than ever a brony, I'll admit)

I hope not!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope! Maybe I'll do it myself for Arachnomaly, one day!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, long time ago, but never published it - it was a crossover with The Idealist 33. Actually, I fibbed, I heavily edited a chapter for their story, Doctor Whooves?, chapter 7, which almost makes it half mine, kinda?
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Oh, wow, let's see, there are so many... NaruHina ? Though I always had a spot for NaruIno? In RWBY, Dragonslayer, just for the fics I've read. Peter Parker x Kitty Pryde, just because of the Ultimate Comics, but PeterxMJ for life.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Well, "Spider-Man Must Not Ruin the Future" is an old project, Spectacular Spider-Man crossover with X-Men: Evolution, trying to integrate both realities in one story.
Also an untitled story where the six original Mighty Morphing Power Rangers get saved by the arrival of Black Dino Thunder Ranger, hilarity and feelings ensue (those who know, will understand the potential!)
16. What are your writing strengths?
I've been told that, when I get the character, I REEALLY get them. Like,
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
If I feel the chapter needs to be short, it will be short. Sometimes, I can get too concise for my own good.
Also mispeling, but I've been getting better, I think.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I'm always writing in another language, but I've been venturing on writing a character who communicates mostly in ASL.

Everyone, I literally can't choose
League of Legends:
Lux because Lightcanon, I love it and the KDA group
The Locked Tomb:
Harrow and Gideon, they're pretty much the only ones I write
Frozen:
Elsa, I can't help it, she gives me ace vibes so of course I'd latch onto her
Epithet Erased:
Zora, she'd damn chaotic and has fun with it, how could I not love writing her

Zag, Meg and Thanatos, most of the time with them together, they all work so well together so why separate them
