okay, but putting aside the comedic aspect of this, it is concerning the amount of people who are prompted to vote for candidates just because it's funny. I'm not the biggest fan of how his policy about the boarder sounds [Site], but I do implore anyone who is able to vote in the 2024 US election to please research other candidates.

The media is only going to continue pushing the idea it's inevitably going to be Trump vs Biden 2.0 and we have no other options, that we have to vote for Biden again because of Project 2025. Is that whole thing terrifying?

Yeah, fucking absolutely.

But voting for Biden will not solidify our safety from that. Biden is exactly like the rest of them. He always has been. You can't make the lesser of two evils argument when they're both just plain evil.

You cannot say that Biden is even mildly a better choice than Trump when he is currently directly involved in a genocide. That is not some little fucking thing. That in and of itself disqualifies him as a lesser evil. Biden is just as bad as him and he will not save us because he doesn't fucking care.

Trump seems to have fucked himself over again...

In response to the Hillary Clinton email scandal, Trump himself signed a law back in 2018 over the removal and retention of classified documents. That law increased the penalty for the unauthorized removal/retention of classified documents from one year to FIVE years, turning it into a felony offense.

He had 12 to 15 BOXES.

Imagine going to jail over a law you personally signed off on, enforced by a raid that was authorized by the same FBI director you chose, signed by a judge you appointed, and your own Secret Service agents let them in.

A bill which former President Donald Trump signed into law in 2018 could be used to punish him if he's found to have mishandled classified information after leaving office.

FBI agents on Monday raided Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida as part on an investigation into whether Trump wrongly kept hold of classified material after he left office.

Bradley P. Moss, a national-security attorney, told Insider that Trump could face five years in prison if he's found guilty under a national security bill which he signed as President.

The bill, which made changes to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) was signed into law by Trump in January 2018.

It upgraded the seriousness of wrongly moving classified material, turning it from a misdemeanor into a felony — and increasing the maximum punishment from one year to five.

Moss noted that it was passed in the wake of Trump's relentless attacks during the 2016 presidential campaign on Hillary Clinton for allegedly mishandling classified information.

But now it is Trump who is under pressure.

"Trump certainly has legal exposure to Section 1924 given it was classified documents from his spaces in the White House that were removed to Mar-Lago," said Moss.

In a tweet Tuesday in the wake of the FBI raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, Jeff Yarbro, an attorney and Democratic State Senator in Tennessee, pointed out it was Trump who had signed the bill now looming over him.

The National Archives and Records Administration in February said that classified material was found among boxes of things that had been taken from the White House to Mar-a-Lago when he left office.

Legal analyst Glenn Kirchner at the time told MSNBC that the former President was facing a potential "five year felony" in a seeming reference to the law Trump had strengthened in 2018.

At the time, the classified-information measures attracted little attention, with the focus of news coverage being the renewal of sweeping surveillance powers in the bill.

According to an analysis by Moss and other analysts at the Just Security blog, it is one of a number of laws Trump might have violated if he's found to have mishandled classified material.

There are some doubts about whether the bill Trump signed into law could be used to prosecute him, said Moss, as it's unclear whether it applies to former Presidents.

Trump has vehemently denied any wrongdoing in relation, saying that he had fully cooperated with requests from the National Archives and characterizing the raid as a politically motivated.

His aide, Kash Patel, told Breitbart that Trump declassified the material before leaving office under the President's broad powers for deciding what should remain secret.

Moss said "efforts by Trump to declassify records before he left office" were another key issue that could impact whether the measures could be used to prosecute Trump.

Trump's office did not immediately reply to a request for comment from Insider.

Time Piece is one of those lesser sighted antiheroes who refuses to explain where or when she came from.

She’s got very modern sensibilities, but her speech is peculiarly Early Modern. She’s just as likely to break into as museum as she is to stop a bank robbery, but in her defense she (usually) doesn’t keep whatever she borrows from the museums. And when she gets into fights, her relatively shot distance time traveling doesn’t seem to be under her control, despite her cool additude mostly covering for it.

What she keeps on the down low, despite her name, is that she’s not just your standard teleporter. By touching an object Fluffy,” as her friends call her, can jump to the most important time in an objects history, part or present.

However, if she jumps back to her present using the same object that took her to that point in history she jumps out of the universe in which that action took place, meaning that she’s the only one who could confirm if she’s killed baby Hitler yet (or as she likes to phrase it “Only I know how many times have I’ve killed that bastard.”)

what is the best way to find the full transcripts of speeches by presidents? is there a site that you use for that sort of research?

Yes, there are two particular sites that I tend to use whenever I'm researching speeches or Presidential messages and they are both excellent sources.

The American Presidency Project at the University of California, Santa Barbara is an invaluable resource. The UCSB site has archived hundreds of thousands of speeches, press conference transcripts, messages, and declarations from every President in American history. It's amazing how much information they have available for researchers, and how easy they've made it to navigate the site and find specific speeches or documents. As an example, f you felt like finding the transcripts for the 200+ press conferences that Herbert Hoover did while he was in office, UCSB's American President Project has them ready for your reading pleasure. And they don't just provide easy access to the major speeches that Presidents made while in the White House. You can find transcripts of quick remarks that Presidents made from train platforms during whistle-stop campaigns or radio addresses or signing statements. It's really an indispensable resource for researchers of the Presidency.

The Miller Center at the University of Virginia also has an incredibly useful website with archives of Presidential speeches, but also in-depth essays and features about the Presidency and each of the Presidents. There are extensive oral histories on Presidents dating back to Jimmy Carter, with fascinating insight from scores of people. And the Miller Center has also created a site within their website focusing on the tapes from the White House recording system that eventually helped bring down Richard Nixon. Nixon wasn't the only President who secretly recorded conversations in the White House, and there are tapes available from Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon B. Johnson, as well as Nixon. Instead of having to search for those recordings at each of those Presidents' respective Presidential Libraries, the Miller Center has made it possible to search their archives for all of those Presidential Recordings. In most cases, they've also helpfully provided transcripts as the tapes are frequently difficult to clearly understand.

Those two sites are pretty much perfect for Presidential history researchers, particularly if you're seeking transcripts of speeches or Presidential messages. I'd also strongly recommend checking out the Presidential Library websites if you're researching someone who has a library. In my opinion, the Presidential Library system is one of the treasures of the National Archives and a treasury of research potential. Almost all of the 15 Presidential Libraries in the network officially maintained and operated by the NARA have extensive research materials that can be accessed online.

The new extremist Republican Party is driving away voters in part by this very sort of chaos. This afternoon, Trump’s lawyers asked a federal judge to stop the FBI from looking at the documents recovered from Mar-a-Lago until a special master reviews them. But the filing appeared to have been less about the law than about asserting power over the Republican Party. While legal analyst Bradley Moss called it “just garbage” legally, it stated its political principle at the start: “President Donald J. Trump is the clear frontrunner in the 2024 Republican Presidential Primary and in the 2024 General Election, should he decide to run.”

The motion reiterated the arguments he has made since the search warrant was carried out; Moss mused, “[t]he more I read Trump’s motion, the more I am completely confused and shocked he got three lawyers to risk their law licenses by filing this thing.”

Then, this evening, it turned out that the motion was likely intended to distract attention from a new story dropping from Maggie Haberman, Jodi Kantor, Adam Goldman and Ben Protess of the New York Times, who reported that Trump took more than 300 classified documents with him to Mar-a-Lago and that he went through the boxes himself in late 2021, meaning he was aware that he had taken classified documents out of the White House.

The National Archives and Records Administration recovered more than 150 classified documents in January 2022, including intelligence from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the National Security Agency (NSA), and the FBI. Worried by the sheer number of those documents, the Department of Justice moved to get the rest. In June, Trump’s aides turned over a few dozen more, and Trump lawyer Christina Bobb signed a document asserting that, to the best of her knowledge, all the classified materials had been returned. They had not, of course, and on June 22 the Justice Department subpoenaed the security video tapes from the area, which showed people moving the documents. Hence the search warrant, which the FBI executed two weeks ago, finding yet more documents, including some in a closet in Trump’s office. Some had the highest possible level of classification. It remains unclear whether any U.S. documents remain at Mar-a-Lago.

Meanwhile, according to Andrew Desiderio of Politico, members of the Gang of Eight—the leaders of the House and Senate from each party, and the chairs and ranking members of the intelligence committees from both houses—want to know what was in those recovered files.
