Numeral Exercises
NUMERAL DEFINITION AND EXERCISES
In English grammar, numerals function as a part of speech to represent numbers, quantify nouns, and express numerical relationships.
There are two main types of numerals in English: cardinal numerals and ordinal numerals.
Cardinal Numerals: Cardinal numerals represent specific quantities or numbers.
They answer the question how many? and are used to count objects or denote a precise quantity.
Examples:
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten
Eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen
Twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety
One hundred, two hundred, three hundred, etc.
One thousand, two thousand, three thousand, etc.
Ordinal Numerals: Ordinal numerals denote the order or rank of items in a sequence.
They answer the question in what order? and are used to indicate the position of something in a series.
Examples:
First, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth
Eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth, fifteenth, sixteenth, seventeenth, eighteenth, nineteenth
Twentieth, thirtieth, fortieth, fiftieth, sixtieth, seventieth, eightieth, ninetieth
Hundredth, thousandth, millionth, billionth, etc.
Numerals can function as determiners when they directly modify nouns, indicating the quantity or position of the noun.
For example:
Cardinal Numeral as Determiner: Three apples fell from the tree.
Ordinal Numeral as Determiner: The first prize goes to the winner.
Numerals can also function as adjectives when they modify nouns but do not directly specify quantity or order.
For example:
Cardinal Numeral as Adjective: She bought two pairs of shoes.
Ordinal Numeral as Adjective: He is in his third year of university.
Additionally, numerals can function as nouns themselves, particularly when referring to numbers as concepts or entities.
For example:
The number eight is considered lucky in some cultures.
She divided the class into groups of four.

Computers are very simple you see we take the hearts of dead stars and we flatten them into crystal chips and then we etch tiny pathways using concentrated light into the dead star crystal chips and if we etch the pathways just so we can trick the crystals into doing our thinking for us hope this clears things up.

I'm not the first to mention this, but one bit that I thought was really clever in Steven Universe is the ways in which the show subtly justifies the cartoonism of the principle cast always wearing the same outfit for ease-of-animation purposes. The gems are a gimme in that they're all hardlight-projections, and even before that's solidified as a plot point they're otherworldly and superheroic enough that you don't really think to question it. But Steven canonically just owns hundreds and hundreds of those star shirts, which are leftover merchandise from his father's fizzled-out career as a rock star. Into which you can read a whole bunch of other stuff if you really want to, right? And I do want to. It's reflective of Greg's misplaced optimism that he got hundreds of those made in the first place, and it's a benign but visible example of how Steven's life is shaped by the knock-on effects of decisions his parents made before he was even alive. He's got his mother's superpowers and he's wearing his father's shirts.

The expedition left McConnel with a low opinion of Uhr: "He is no bushman, & he had not the slightest idea of the 'lay' of the country." But he was impressed by old Merchant Jones joining his pioneering journey into the bush.
We ascended the ranges & kept on the top of them, travelling North till we saw a perspect of good country, which we soon did; descended to a creek running due North, through a fine open country, very well adapted for sheep, & the grass abounding in herbage; & after riding over this country & ascertaining that there was abundance of water, & the country was well adapted for stock, being situated on a land 2000 feet above the sea, & very open, & free from scrub, & sufficient to hold 50000 sheep at least . . . Our adventures were not numerous; we saw no blacks to disturb us, & we had gone weather, except one heavy thunderstorm; so that altogether I enjoyed the expedition very much. It is exceedingly delightful & causes great excitement to the mind to travel over new country in which white man has never trod.
