Pity
Whumptober 6, made to watch.
-
Lachlan snuck out on the fourth night.
Dr Swindon had done the experiment twice now. She had looked him in the eyes and cut his throat. She had watched him bleed out with no emotion in her eyes. And he couldn’t get the image out of his head.
There weren’t cameras on the body at all hours, because it wasn’t going anywhere. They knew that for sure. Constance Irene herself had sent down the instructions for how to use the blood taken from the body before it got here. If the body couldn’t leave a circle of its own blood, they made the building from it. She had it put in the paint on the walls and sown in the soil in the grass outside. It had sounded bizarre, when Lachlan overheard Dr Swindon talking about it with her brother. Blood in the soil. But as much blood as was used in securing the lab, more could be taken as long as the body could be kept.
Lachlan was the one who could still escape. He knew he was being watched. It made sense. He’d shown his weakness now, shown he could be scared.
It was stupid. He’d agreed to this.
But it wasn’t so easy to turn his head up for the scalpel.
It definitely wasn’t easy to look at Dr Swindon in the same way.
So after doing that hour’s tests – blood pressure, temperature, pain scale, and the new voice test – he slipped through the door to visit the thing that made this all possible. It was kept in a locked room, but locked only on the inside. Lachlan stopped at the observation window for a moment, but the creature was looking out, so he hurried in.
Its room smelled bad. Lachlan had washed the body several times since its arrival, but it seemed like whoever had taken over for him, if anyone had, was doing a poor job. The stench of old blood was all over. If the creature had a sense of smell, that would be nasty.
Then again, it was bleeding pretty much all the time, so maybe it was used to it.
Lachlan lingered in the doorway, making eye contact. It really did look human. It wouldn’t make sense for it to be human, with everything it could do, but most creatures in mythology had humanlike forms too. The body was probably the inspiration for at least one or two mythical beings.
Lachlan wondered why he was here. The muzzle was always in place. He couldn’t ask the body for its opinion. That would be ridiculous, anyway.
On the other hand, what did he have to lose?
He reached for the muzzle. The body held still. It felt silly, suddenly, that there wasn’t a proper name for it. Just ‘the body’. When it moved and emoted like a person.
Surprisingly, the muzzle had only a slight tackiness as it detached. Lachlan couldn’t help but wince at the sight of the reddened skin underneath. He wished he had the washcloth and soapy water he’d used before.
He pulled back against the wall when the body moved, turning its head slowly towards him. The lurid red sigils were carved into it, all visibly different ages, but none of them properly healed. It looked like it shouldn’t be living.
“Thank you,” it hissed in a whisper-soft voice.
He should get it some water. But bringing a cup in here would make it way too obvious what he was doing. Removing the muzzle was the first thing Dr Swindon had warned them against doing. Lachlan had always wondered why, though. Did the body have a silver tongue?
“Does it hurt?” the body asked. Its voice was strained between every word. Any conversation had to be quick and to the point.
Lachlan swallowed. “Some,” he rasped, his own voice bearing the weight of his experiment. “Healing fast.”
The body closed its eyes for a moment. Then opened them. “You don’t look at me like the others,” it told him. “Not curious. No-ot grateful.” It had to stop and swallow.
Lachlan shifted his weight to his other foot. He didn’t have to guess. Curiosity was all of the doctors, especially Dr Swindon. Gratitude was Kurt. It was the weird thing about watching him, actually, and Lachlan watched everyone while being ignored. Kurt was always looking at the body, and he always looked amazed. It could be called blasphemy, to show more worship of the body than of Her Permanence. But down here, the rest of the Alliance was far away, and Her Permanence last announced her plans when the body was still missing. They had heard from her since. She only spoke to Dr Swindon.
But Kurt looked at the body like a gift. Something magic.
“You look at me weird as well,” he returned. It felt obvious to say.
The body winced, eyes darting away. “I am the reason you suffer.”
Laclan paused, thrown off by the comment. It almost felt…kind of selfish? Self-important? “I volunteered you know. I want to cure my brother and me. I chose to be here.”
Already, he was being caught up in this nonsense. He forced his breaths to settle calmly. Here was no point getting caught up in an argument with the body, the thing that bore the blood and only faked the rest. None of it mattered.
“I meant,” the thing replied. Even as Lachlan resolved not to listen, he found himself straining to make out the words. “I meant from the blood. My magic taken does not respond well. It will poison you in time.” At the last word, they broke off into weak coughs.
He shook his head. “I’m fine. Dr Swindon is monitoring me.”
“Your Pe-ermanence,” the body persisted, voice rasping weakly, “shows the dama-age it does.”
“She looks normal from what I’ve seen.”
The body was able to produce a perfectly normal, if quiet, snort of derision.
“In her portraits,” Lachlan admitted. “I’ve never met her in person. She’s busy.”
“She is – weak and frail. Her skin ash, her eyes red. She is as inhuman as I am.”
Lachlan looked away. The woman in the portraits was a beautiful, youthful blonde. Of course it was exaggerated, but… Was it just a lie? The Alliance promised eternal health and life. He’d always assumed that would include eternal youth. The body had eternal youth, that was well known.
“She is a revenant,” the body whispered.
He could have laughed. Could have, but didn’t. How was he meant to know? Zombies weren’t real, but nor were immortal magical creatures.
He looked at the body. Aside from the wounds that bound it here, or had bound it before, it was unmarked. Not a bruise, cut or scar. It was dirty, skin oily with dried sweat, hair lank in thick strands, but it was in perfect health. Through everything, it didn’t show a single mark. The tubes that kept it from having bodily needs were just a precaution. It wasn’t even thinner than before. It should have shown atrophy, but there was no change at all.
All of this helped counterbalance the scarily sincere pain in its eyes and voice. The ay it watched him. The noises it had made, when he was hurt. It reminded him of how long it had been since he’d seen his family. It made him imagine how upset his parents would be at what he’d been through. It made him think of his brother, the person who understood him best in the world, from whom he’d deliberately gone distant.
He lived in this la as much as the body did. The only people he interacted with treated him like a servant. His boss held him down and cut him open.
But every single drop of blood in this place was important. It mattered. It meant something.
“It’s worth it,” he said. God, the way it looked at him. Were those tears? “I’m sorry, but it is. If there’s a chance.”
He had to look away. He didn’t know who he was kidding. That wasn’t just a body. It was a person, in some way.
“I’m Lachlan, by the way.”
It probably already knew. But maybe, if it did have feelings, it would help a little to be asked.
“Northlight,” it whispered back. The kind of name you would use if you lived in the wilds and in clans.
Lachlan forced himself to move. He picked up the gag again. He’d had a moment of weakness, but ultimately, everything came down to his heart. It was time for him to go back, and pretend this never happened. Work would go on as usual tomorrow.
Seeing him with the muzzle clearly spurred the body on, because it said, “What humanity will you give up for humanity’s sake?”
“You should put that on a fridge magnet,” Lachlan commented, putting the muzzle to its jaw.
It laughed.
It was just a brief, breathless chuckle. Lodged somewhere in its throat. The joke wasn’t even really a joke. He’d just said it offhand. Wasn’t even thinking about it. And the body laughed.
Then another laugh, eyes on Lachlan’s face. Did he look comically surprised or something? What was so funny? The laughter continued. He had to pull back the muzzle so it was possible to breathe. And the laugh came out loud, a breathy thing, struggling to hold the jerky convulsions of the body.
Tears followed, as the laugh died out.
Lachlan ran his tongue over his gums. He couldn’t watch this. This wasn’t for him, some stranger who didn’t care for them. They should have loved ones around them. Did they even have anyone who loved them?
When the sobs stopped, he put the muzzle back on. He couldn’t look into their eyes as he did it. He didn’t want to see the pain any more than he wanted to feel it today.
This was a person. The knowledge couldn’t be shaken off. They laughed, they cried, they were afraid, and they were alone.
Not so unlike him.

I've been posting regularly since the start of Covid. And I still wasn't prepared to start my day reading this headline.
By Shay Woulahan December 20, 2023
A trans-identified male has appeared in court after being accused of dumping soiled adult diapers outside a children’s nursery and stealing clinical waste bags. Abbi Taylor, born Martin Tarling, was also accused of hiding in a public bin with soiled diapers, smearing excrement on children’s milk bottles and removing items from a waste receptacle outside a nursery.
Taylor, 47, has been charged with 9 counts related to incidents that occurred between October 2022 and November 2023. The charges include four counts of dumping bags of toxic materials, namely diapers containing human waste, at nurseries in South Tyneside, an offense under the Environmental Protection Act.
Taylor also faces a charge of outraging public decency stemming from his entering a waste bin containing the feces of children.
At the time of the incidents, Taylor was under a criminal behavior order imposed by the Nottinghamshire Magistrates’ Court prohibiting him from being within 10 meters of a nursery without reasonable excuse, suggesting he had been caught conducting similar activity in the past.
Although court listings used the name Martin Tarling, the Chair of the Bench, John Lee, asked Taylor if he preferred to be addressed by his “feminine” name and the defendant agreed. Taylor didn’t enter into a plea at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court and will appear in court again on January 16.
Though he attended his hearing at the South Tyneside Magistrates Court donning a full beard, Taylor was later described in the media as a “transgender woman.”
Tumblr media
Reduxx has located a social media profile believed to belong to Taylor which features extremely disturbing content. On the account, which is registered in Taylor’s location of Newcastle upon Tyne, a number of sexual animations depicting women and girls in diapers have been posted. The profile photo for the account shows an animated little girl sucking on a pacifier with the words “baby girl” written on her t-shirt.
Under a section offering alternative names and nicknames, Taylor says he also likes to be known as Baby Abbs, Little Princess, and Baby Girl.
Tumblr media
In his profile, Taylor describes himself as an “intersex female and an “ABDL little.” The acronym “ABDL” refers to the “Adult Baby Diaper Lifestyle” or “Adult Baby Diaper Lover” fetish, wherein adults are sexually aroused by acting or dressing as babies. The fetish is more formally known as paraphilic infantilism or “autonepiophilia.”
There is a noticeable overlap between men with autonepiophilia and men who identify as women, with a number of disturbing incidents involving gender confused males with diaper fetishes making headlines over the past year.
In April of 2022, a man from Helensburgh pleaded guilty to abusing two children by forcing them to entertain his fantasy of being a three-year-old girl named “Molly.” Stephen Cunningham repeatedly dressed up as a little girl in the presence of the two victims, including wearing adult diapers and providing the victims with pacifiers and baby bottles. He would shout offensive remarks at the children, and told one of the children he was an “adult baby.”
Cunningham also offered diapers for the minors to wear and sent them text messages describing his experiences of dressing up as “Molly.” He would also make references to standing in front of the child in a soiled diaper, asking them to buy him new ones.
Shortly after, a man in Swindon was sentenced to a 24-month community order after exposing himself to multiple teen girls. Andrew Keen, 41, was active in online sissy and crossdressing communities and posted YouTube videos of himself dressing in women’s clothing. Though he scrubbed his social media shortly after his arrest, Keen frequently interacted with transgender pornography and age regression accounts — including those pertaining to the “ABDL” community.
Earlier this year, Reduxx exclusively revealed that the transgender criminal whose pioneering legal case paved the way for violent males to be transferred into women’s prisons in the American state of New Jersey was a diaper fetishist.
Danielle Demers, who was convicted following an investigation by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, proudly declares himself an “adult baby” and frequently interacts with other members of the fetishistic subculture online.

Bloody Fresco (A Short Casas Tidmouth Fic)
----------------------------------------------
It was a cold night on Sodor. Everyone had bathed in the warmth of their homes as they looked at the window, weary of the unknown criminals roaming around the island, waiting for another person to kidnap.
All were safe and comfortable in their homes.
All except Donald, of course, who was currently on the run from a deranged Duck. You might be thinking; “But doesn't Duck like Donald”? Oh, if only that was the case...
His wheels whirled as he sprinted through the dark alleyway while squeezing the great wound on his arm. “Mebbe this is wha’ happens ta people who witness dead mangled bodies.”
Donald then recounted why he ended up in this situation in the first place....
.
.
.
Donald wheels creaked as he wandered the dark paths of the island. He was still very much in Sodor, but something about it was different.
He was on a dirtied road, with missing posters scattered across that flew everytime the icy wind came. He stopped and crouched down to catch one of them, and he read...

LAST SEEN: ■■■■■■
IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT DONALD, PLEASE CONTACT: ■■■■■■
“Tis is definitely no’ ma Sodor”, he said to himself. He put down the paper and left to continue his journey.
He eventually found himself in a cozy village. He glanced through the windows to see the faces of happy, joyous people as they ate their dinner and socialized. Some were simply alone watching TV, while some were on the telephone. He stalked one of the houses a little bit, hearing someone ramble about their beloved “Percy” as they walked around their living room. “So tha wee lad went missing too...”, he thought.
He travelled the village until he heard something eerie, in contrast to the jovial noise of the houses. He heard it coming from a dark and creepy alleyway. Donald didn’t mind it at first, until he heard agonizing screams. It's sudden stop worried him and he rushed to the shaded area. He ran as quickly as he could to the noise, but it was too late. Donald’s wheels came to a screech as he came to the horrible scene.
His mouth gaped wide, no words coming out of it. He was speechless from what he saw.
The sight of a brunette man wearing a coat that became stained with red blood as he drew is axe and sliced the dead corpse over and over to his heart's content, the sound of flesh being cut ringing through the alley, paralyzed him as he felt his breath drifting away from him. The man eventually stopped and slowly shifted his sight to the Scottish human(oid). He was met with dejected eyes, harsh yet sorrowful breathing as his bloody hands shook from the weight of the axe.
Donald swore he looked similar to someone he knew. Then, he thought of who he was...
“Duck?”, he murmured.
The man's dejected eyes widened at the name. Donald took a step back. “Duck” then swung up his weapon as he charged towards Donald.
“Donas fhios agam” were Donald’s last words before being hit in his right arm. Donald yelled as he tumbled down the stone floor. He held his arm firmly as he felt a sharp pain growing from it. He removed his hand and became horrified seeing his own blood drip from it. In a state of panic, he got up, but was greeted with an unexpected punch in the face as he fell down again. He decided to return the favor by kicking the man's ankles. As he fell over, Donald took this opportunity to hurry away from the scene.
.
.
.
“I shouldn’tna have bothered with the noise”, he wondered to himself as he made with way down the lane. While his wheels made him go quicker, it was not use to him as he stopped at a dead end.
“Ach— an donas dubh!”, he shrieked under his breath. The sound of an axe being dragged across the floor only added up to his worries as he slowly stepped back to the brick wall. Duck sharply turned his head to the Scottish bloke as he slowly walked towards him. He could only stand there with baited breath.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He wasn't afraid of Duck because he had already learned to fight, but he was more terrified of the fact that his friend had become a murderer. Duck stopped halfway, staring at Donald, before swiftly running up to him, his axe seemingly ready to cut someone's head off.
Donald closed his eyes as he charged towards him...
.
.
.
.
...Only to hear the axe swing and hit something else.
Donald steadily opened his eyes to see the blade just beside his face, blood from the previous victim and himself dripping down. His gaze then turned to Duck. While there still seemed to be intent of murder in his eyes, he wasn't doing anything. He was just...staring at the nearly-half-dead man, as his cold breath seamed through the air. Donald didn't want to make eye contact, but he couldn't help but stare too. To him, it seemed like Duck was... analyzing him for some reason. He looked suspicious and untrusting of this version of Donald, but his eyes started to softened. He didn't understand at first, but suddenly he remembered the poster he saw at the street...
...A NO-NONENSE MAN BUT IS ALSO MISCHIEVOUS AND CAREFREE, CHARMING AND WITTY, FRIENDS OF MONTAGUE “DUCK” COLLET AND OLIVER SWINDON...
“Does...does he miss me?”, he asked no one in particular. He started analyzing Duck too. A solemn face with eye bags and a heavy frown, his hair a mess, as if he hadn't been taking care of himself. He wasn't wearing any green, and nothing about the Great Western. “Did somethin’ happen?” was his thought.
He couldn't help but feel pity for the man. He continued to study Duck. Long, but brown luxurious hair, blue icy yet mesmerizing eyes, a body you seriously just can't ignore, like, seriously, he actually looks pretty frickin hot—....
“Wait, wha’ am Ah even thinkin’?!”, he yelled to himself in his head as he contemplated what the hell just came up in his mind. How does one feel frustrated and terrified at first, later feel pity, and then become down horrendous for a murderer?
...Well, we'll probably never know, but it did happen.
Donald tried to look away, but Duck had become rather irresistible to him. His face started to flush a bright red. Duck took notice of this. And, he finally spoke...
“...Are you blushing?”, the despondent man asked.
“Tis has ta be tha worst timing in tha history of ma life”, Donald muttered quietly.
“No, Ah”m not”, he crossly answered. “Mebbe yer eyesight is just goin’ bad.”
It was another long and awkward silence between the two. Then finally, Duck let out a heavy sigh as his head faced down, and his axe moving out of position.
“What am I even doing?”, he grumbled as he lay down to the ground on the wall next to Donald. He was unsure of this but decided to follow Duck anyways.
“Wha’ are ye even doin’?”, he questioned.
“I don't know”, he responded. “It’s just, ever since I lost Donald to...whoever kidnapped him, I’ve just been so miserable...they even got Oliver and Douglas. And now? I am alone with the Little Western in my hands. Someone has to be the leader, someone has to be strong for the workers here, but... I'm just so tired of trying to keep going forward. And my family? Oh, don't even get me started! They're not bothered at all by my friends going missing! Not even worried that they might be...” Duck had run out of breath to talk.
Or so Donald had thought.
His eyes began to fill up with tears in frustration. He tried to hold them back but his blinking caused one to fall down, following another. Duck tried to wipe them but before he could, he could feel another pair of hands touch his face.
The cloth on Donald’s hands made it easier to rub them off, but more had just continued to come. He cupped Duck's cheeks with his crimson hands. “Don’ try an’ bottle them up”, he said, sternly but gently. “Ah’ll be glad ta wait until yer fine.”
More tears came from the “Great” Western man as he covered his face in shame as he wept, his tears mixing up with the blood on his face. Donald could only do so much, but it made Duck feel...better. Somehow.
It took a while, but he eventually composed himself once again. And with a loud “ahem”, he continued his lament...
“I’m really sorry for attacking you. I never meant it. It’s just... you're so different..but so similar to him...”
“To yer Donald?”
“Y-Yeah...Tough, yet caring...And really, really admirable..And...still so goddamn tall.” Duck chuckled to himself at that part as Donald smiled softly.
“But, you have brown and black hair...A-And... your cheeks are rosier which is actually kind of lovely and...you have wheels attached to your shoes—”
“Actually, they're a part o’ ma legs.”
“...What?—”
“Forget Ah said that.”
“...Well, you were just so like him, but you... I...I didn't...but... you're not him. I couldn't..handle that.”
Donald had listened intently to the entire vent. He pat his back.
“That’s..Tha’s horrible lad. Ah’m really sorry tha’ happened ta you. But tha’s no excuse to try an’ kill me.”
Duck turned away bitterly at those words. Donald only sighed.
“Well, there’s nothin’ we can do now.”
The two men looked up to the sky. It was a beautiful night, the stars gleaming like diamonds. They gave their attention to each other and stared in silence.
“This is so awkward”, were their thoughts.
Nothing they could do about it though. A murder scene, a great chase, to an entire lament. The two railway workers had exhausted all their energy, and all they could do now is look and look.
As the cold wind blew, Duck shivered. He was wearing a coat, but it wasn't made for cold weather, unlike Donald's. He took notice of his and shifted closer to Duck. He felt himself being brought in a warm embrace as the Scottish bloke wrapped himself around. Donald wasn't completely human, and still often consumed coal and water, which, as a result, made him hot.
Duck felt rather weird at the odd action, but not in a bad or a good way. “Enjoy yerself while ya can”, Donald said. “It’s gonna be a long night wit’ tha’ dead corpse an’ ma wound.”
And so he did. The brunette still decided to respect the personal space between him and Donald, but the longer they stayed together, the more he couldn't help himself. Being held like this took him back to the time he once held someone like this, a person he loved. He dug into his embrace even more. He buried his face into his neck and held him tighter, firmly yet sweetly. He found himself in a conflict of emotions. This moment between him and a stranger felt so nice...too nice.
He couldn't shake off the unknown feeling of dread. “This is so wrong...this is so wrong this is so wrong this is so wrong this is so wrong this is just so wrong—”
It was so, so wrong.
But he didn't mind staying like this of the rest of the night.
.
.
.
.
.
.
“...We still have ta tend on mah wounds, ya know?”
“Oh, right.”

A Screech in the Night: Ch.1
Ch.1 The Uman and Din
Other Chapters
To the north of Harlech in Merioneth, lies a little railway, the Uman and Dim. Once a branch line of God's Wonderful Railway itself, the line had been closed by a Doctor who had odd ideas on healing the country's rail lines. The Doctor had been tasked with fixing the railways by men who knew the price of everything, and the value of nothing. The solution he came up with was to simply remove lines till the railway worked.
The Uman and Din was one of the lines closed, but as normally happens in the world, the people the line served knew the line's value better than the directors in London. The line was bought for the town and with it six engines. These were not diesels or even electrics as one might guess today, but steam engines, proper Swindon ones at that. This is the story of how they gained their seventh.
One cold winter's night, the railway received a visitor. Eight large driving wheels propelled a shadow across the yard towards the shed. Tendrils of shadow whipped off of the engine's form.
'Scare them,' a quiet voice whispered within the giant's mind.
4702 chuckled lowly as she approached the shed. These engines looked so content and secure in this little shed. It was time to remind them how lucky they were to be saved from her fate. A glimpse of her fate would ensure they valued what they had been given.
"Quiet," came the quiet hiss just as 4702 was about to blast her whistle. She looked in surprise to see a 0-6-0 pannier tank of the 97xx class was awake and looking at her anxiously.
Before 4702 could reply, the tank engine spoke. "You're more than welcome to sleep here, we'd never turn another engine away, especially another Western, but please keep it down." She looked over to the Star class at the end of the shed. "Abbey only got back an hour ago and has to be up at daybreak. She needs her sleep."
4702 looked over the Star class. Even in sleep, exhaustion covered her features. The number 4061 on her cabside was faded and dull, as were the nameplates on her sides reading Glastonbury Abbey, but above her smokebox a lovingly polished nameplate reading Guinevere sat. She towered over the other engines in the shed.
The 97xx followed her gaze. "She's the strongest." She whispered quietly. "We help where we can, but she's the only one capable of far too many of the trains."
4702 surveyed the other engines, each bore exhaustion on their features heavily as they slept fitfully.
The 97xx looked no better, it was obvious she dearly wished to join her fleetmates in sleep. Painted across the side of her can the name Enid could just be made out.
'Wake them!' the whisper cackled.
4702 shoved the voice aside with all the strength her class was famed for.
"Tell me little one," 4702's voice was a mere whisper, yet it echoed around them, bouncing back again and again from odd angles, filling the air as thoroughly as a siren. "why do you not sleep with your shedmates?"
The tank engine looked down sadly, "Vandals keep trying to steal parts from the shed...sometimes from off us. It's my night to stand watch."
'Scare theeemmm' the whisper hissed.
The giant flicked her tendrils in agitation, "Not tonight little one." The little 97 tried to argue, but 4702 continued, "sleep. I will stand guard. Any vandal will find themselves sorely regretting the choices that led them here this night."
4702 shimmered in place, suddenly facing out from the shed. She rolled quietly back into the shed, a shadow brushing coldly across the 97's cheek. She was asleep before 4702 had stopped moving.
'Revenge,' the whisper hissed sullenly.
"Not tonight," the giant rumbled quietly. "These engines have earned their rest."
The whisper subsided mutinously.
4702 allowed it a moment before continuing, "It is just for the night, tomorrow we steam for London. Then you will have your fill."
The whisper rumbled happily.
"Besides," 4702's smile stretched far too wide, "the night is not over yet. Who knows what vandals might stumble upon tonight."
The whisper's cackle rang throughout her mind.
Author’s Note:
Hey guys! This new fic will be coming out every Tuesday until I either catch up with where I’ve written (currently 7 chapters are done). Normally I wait till I’ve finished a Fic, but I honestly have no idea how far this fic will go. It was supposed to be a one shot and I’ve written 7 chapters and I’m not done with the original concept.

Hello there! Long time no see?
Before I talk about this model I do have to apologise for not uploading since my last post, life and mental health took over a lot and I just didn't have time nor motivation to post anything. However I'm going to try and make this a more constant thing rather than just whenever and whatever. I still need to plan out stuff, however I'll update you all when the time is right.
Anyway, today's model is of a locomotive I've taken some interest in, this is a 9F.
British Railways 9F class No.92250 was built at Crewe Works in 1958 and became the last steam locomotive to be fully constructed at Crewe. It was intended to be the last 9F built, and on top of that the last steam locomotive built by BR, and on technicality, if we're going off locomotive numbers, it is. However, 9F No.92220 'Evening Star' became the last 9F built and overall the Last Steam Locomotive built in 1960, by Swindon.
Despite the factor Swindon officially built the last 9F, I've never had a soft spot for Evening Star. However, after coming into ownership of a couple 9Fs, I was wondering what to do with them. The first one I got was a Single Chimney 9F which, as I have my own Railway Series Headcanon, will become some form of my Murdoch, and the second one, which was this one, was a Double Chimney Variant, but the loco only, with the tender it has coming from a Standard 5. The latter 9F was going to be a project by my friend Amethyst, known on Twitter as Merry Hampton Productions or @/B661Sutton (link at the end of post), to turn into a Double Chimney member of the class based around Tyseley.
Now, I had 251 9Fs I could have chose to turn this one into, however, as I work in Crewe, am quite local and also have taken interest into a majority of locomotives built there, I thought that 92250 would be the best fitting.
The first thing this model required was a new chimney. The later batches of 9Fs were all built with the Double chimney and blast pipe arrangement, however, 92250 was a little bit different.
In the 50s, Dr. Adolph Giesl-Gieslingen (what a name) designed and produced a type of chimney and blast pipe arrangement that would use steam more effectively which would help reduce the amount of coal an engine would intake. It was fitted to many engines in service and Preservation, a famous example being No.4 'Edward Thomas' on the Talyllyn Railway, and his Sudrian Counterpart Peter Sam.
92250 was built in 1958 and a year later in 1959 was fitted with an oblong Giesl Ejector. This chimney offered the same level of draught for a reduced level of back-pressure or created an increase in draught with no performance loss elsewhere. There was no change in the usage of coal either, so overall the chinmey made little difference to the 9Fs already stirling performance. 92250 retained this chinmey until withdrawal in 1965 and was Scrapped at Cashmores in Newport.
The chimney I used on my model of 92250 was a white metal one from RT Models. The chimney is designed to replace the ones on the Hornby Austerities and is more fit for industrial locomotives, so on the 9F it's a little bit short, however with little reference to how long it is, I removed the old one, cut down this one, and fitted it. It still looked the part however from some angles compared to pictures you can tell its a little too short.
After this the model was painted Black. For my black paint I use Revel Aqua colour. Their matt and gloss blacks have some good coverage, and as they are the colours I use most, I can go to my local Hobbycraft and pick them up easily.
After painting, I had to scrape most of the Factory Weathering off the Rods, add the numbers and Crests, which are all transfers from Fox Transfers (link to the numbers and crests bellow) and a nice coat of Humbrol Matt Varnish. I went for Matt as it was to hand and also as it would dull back the very glossy effect of the paint.
So that's all it was for 92250, a rather quick and simple project, which anyone could do as a good starter project.

Embarking on a journey into Hypnotherapy Training in Swindon can seem like stepping into an enigma.
You may be intrigued yet overwhelmed by the complexity and mystique surrounding hypnosis...
Hypnotherapy training in Swindon, however, is not as daunting as it appears.
In fact, with guidance from seasoned professionals at IHT Swindon, you're set to demystify this fascinating field and harness its transformative power.
Hypnotherapy in Swindon: A Look at IHT Swindon
Let's explore the captivating realm of hypnosis.
We're spotlighting IHT Swindon, one of the largest hypnotherapy training schools in the UK, based right here in our town - Swindon.
The Power Behind IHT Swindon
A team of fully qualified, experienced therapists run these clinics with finesse.
They also offer weekend sessions for those who can't make it to their physical locations situated conveniently around Swindon during the week.

Diploma In Hand And Ready To Help You Understand Your Condition Better
All therapists working under the banner of IHT Swindon hold diplomas from Inspiraology Hypnotherapy Training, where they studied neuroscience as part of its curriculum.
Understanding how modern life interacts with our brains is crucial when helping clients understand their conditions better.
 Therapy At Its Best.
This peek into what makes up such a successful therapy centre like IHT Swindon should give you some insight into why so many people trust them.
Now let's move on to understanding the standards maintained by these senior hypnotherapists, which will be discussed next.
Standards and Professional Development at Old Town Hypnotherapy
All right, let's dive in.
The team of hypnotherapists at IHT Swindon, one of the largest hypnotherapy schools nationwide, is not just a group of therapists. They're fully qualified, experienced therapists who uphold high standards in their practice.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/Uv2pjBRpzLk Hypnotic Standards:
You'll be pleased to know that all town hypnotherapists hold full public and professional liability insurance. This isn't something they take lightly; it shows their commitment to providing safe therapy sessions for every client.

Clinical Hypnosis - A Key Component of Therapy
Let's clear the air about clinical hypnosis.
It's not mystical or magical; it's scientific and therapeutic.
The term 'clinical hypnosis' might evoke images from popular culture - a swinging pocket watch, perhaps?
Many hypnotherapists nationwide, like myself, are quick to debunk these myths. We stress that this is far removed from reality. Clinical hypnosis actually involves two key components: standard hypnotic procedures and investigative therapy.
The first part revolves around inducing relaxation in clients through focus. This creates an environment conducive to effective clinical hypnotherapy.
Meanwhile, the second component allows therapists to conduct investigative work into their client's subconscious minds.
So, what do clinical hypnotherapists actually do? Well, they use techniques designed specifically to help uncover underlying issues contributing towards mental health problems such as anxiety or depression.
Remember though. It isn't just any therapist who can provide this service effectively. The largest practices only employ fully qualified, experienced therapists trained by reputable bodies like Inspiraology Trained Hypnotherapists.
In fact, IHT Therapists run clinics where every member holds full public liability insurance meeting UK Clinical Hypnotherapy standards while also attending regular professional development training sessions ensuring top-notch services at all times.
So now we've established what clinical hypnotism really entails, let us delve deeper into how various therapies integrate within its framework next time round.
An Integrative Approach to Therapy at IHT Swindon
Let's dive into the unique approach of IHT Swindon.
This Swindon-based practice prides itself on its integrative therapy model.
A Tailored Blend of Techniques for Each Client
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and NLP techniques are all part of their toolkit.
The blend is tailored based on each client's needs.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy: A Key Player in The Mix
In this mix, CBT plays a crucial role.
Marrying Solution-Focused & Cognitive Therapies - A Recipe For Success?
The marriage between solution-focused therapies with cognitive behaviour approaches can create an effective therapeutic process for clients struggling with various mental health issues such as anxiety or depression.
Hypnotherapists trained by Inspiraology often use these complementary strategies together within their sessions.
All therapists at IHT Swindon who run clinics across Swindon have been fully qualified, experienced therapists through nationwide hypnotherapy training bodies like Inspiraology.
Focusing On Solutions, Not Problems With Solution-Focused Hypnosis
Solution-focused hypnosis focuses less on digging up past traumas and more towards building solutions for future success.
Unpacking Solution-Focused Therapy
Solution Focused therapy, a cornerstone of IHT Swindon's approach, is an intriguing concept.
Rather than dwelling on problems and their roots, this therapy encourages clients to envision desired outcomes.
The Core Philosophy of Solution-Focused Therapy
This therapeutic process focuses primarily on solutions rather than issues.
It's about fostering positivity and progress instead of getting stuck in past difficulties.
A Shift from Standard Talking Therapies
In contrast with standard talking therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy takes a different route.
It offers more insights into how it works.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Complements Solution-Focused Approach
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can work hand-in-hand with solution-focused approaches for comprehensive client care at practices such as IHT Swindon.
This blend allows therapists to address both present behaviours and future aspirations effectively.
Moving Forward: The Future Role Of Online Sessions In Modern Day Practices Like OTHS?
We've seen that online sessions are increasingly becoming part-and-parcel of modern hypnotherapy services offered by leading town hypnotherapists, including those trained at Inspiraology.
Let's delve deeper into this trend next...
Online Sessions - Adapting to Modern Needs
In this digital age, IHT Swindon has embraced the need for flexibility.
Their fully qualified, experienced therapists now offer online sessions alongside their traditional clinic visits in Swindon.
Benefits of Online Therapy
This adaptation provides numerous benefits to clients who may not be able to physically visit clinics due to various reasons such as distance or health concerns.
A Safe Space at Home
Clients can engage with their hypnotherapist from the comfort of their homes, creating a safe space where they feel most relaxed. This is crucial during clinical hypnosis, which requires deep relaxation and focus.
Flexibility & Convenience
Scheduling becomes easier when travel time is eliminated. Clients can fit therapy into busy schedules without disrupting daily routines too much.
The Future of Hypnotherapy Training in Swindon
Looking ahead, it is evident that hypnotherapy training in Swindon will continue to rise as the benefits of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) become more widely recognised. Hypnotherapist training in Swindon is on an upward trajectory.
This surge can be attributed to a growing acceptance and understanding of standard talking therapies like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
CBT, as it's commonly known, has long been recognised for its effectiveness.
However, there's another player making waves - solution-focused therapy.
A technique that shifts focus from problems to solutions, this form of therapy offers clients a fresh perspective towards tackling their issues.
Pioneered by senior hypnotherapists at practices such as IHT Swindon, trained therapists are leading this change.
Innovations aren't just confined to therapeutic techniques, though;
Hypnosis sessions have also evolved with changing times.
The traditional clinic visits still exist, but now run clinics offer online sessions too.
This adaptation not only caters to modern needs but opens up access for those who may find physical visits challenging.
Despite these advancements, there remains room for growth.
Hypnotic approaches need further exploration, and newer strategies must be developed to keep pace with our ever-evolving understanding of human psychology.
In essence, the landscape looks promising, with opportunities abound for aspiring hypnotists seeking professional development training in the heartland of UK clinical hypnotherapy - Swindon.

The Lock Wizard: How to Maintain Your Locks and Keep Them Secure
Tumblr media
Locks are essential devices that protect our homes, offices, and belongings from unauthorized access. However, locks are not invincible. They can wear out, break down, or malfunction over time, compromising their security and functionality. That is why it is important to maintain your locks regularly and properly, to ensure they work optimally and last longer. In this article, we will share some tips and tricks on how to maintain your locks and keep them secure. We will also explain how The Lock Wizard, your local and trusted locksmith in Swindon UK, can help you with any lock-related issue or request.
Tips and Tricks for Lock Maintenance
Here are some simple steps you can take to keep your locks in good shape: - Clean your locks regularly. Dust, dirt, and grime can accumulate inside and around the lock mechanism, affecting its performance. Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove particles from the keyway and other components. For stubborn dirt, a mild cleaning solution can be used with caution. Ensure the lock is completely dry before using it again. - Lubricate your locks once a year. Proper lubrication is crucial for smooth lock operation. Choose a lubricant specifically designed for locks, avoiding oil-based products that can attract dust. Apply a small amount of lubricant to the key and insert it into the lock, then rotate the key to distribute the lubricant evenly. Lubricate other moving parts, such as the bolt and latch, as well. - Inspect your locks for signs of wear, rust, or corrosion. Rust can cause pins and springs to seize, leading to a lockout situation. If you notice any signs of rust or deterioration, consider addressing the issue promptly or replacing the lock if necessary. - Tighten your hinges and align your strike plate. Loose hinges can cause your door to sag or shift, affecting the alignment of the lock and the strike plate. This can make it harder to lock or unlock your door, or even damage your lock or door frame. To prevent this, tighten your hinges regularly and adjust your strike plate if needed. - Update your keys properly. Keys can also wear out over time, making them less effective or compatible with your lock. If you notice any signs of damage or deformation on your keys, such as cracks, bends, or chips, replace them as soon as possible. Do not make copies of worn-out keys, as they will not work properly either. - Consider your door habits. How you use your door can also affect your lock’s condition. For example, slamming your door can cause vibrations that can loosen or damage your lock components. Likewise, hanging heavy objects on your door knob or handle can put strain on your lock mechanism. To avoid these problems, be gentle with your door and avoid putting unnecessary weight on it.
How The Lock Wizard Can Help You
While these tips and tricks can help you maintain your locks on your own, sometimes you might need professional assistance from a qualified locksmith. Whether you need a lock repair, replacement, installation, or upgrade, The Lock Wizard can help you with that. The Lock Wizard is a family-owned and operated locksmith company that has been serving Swindon and surrounding areas since 2004. Basic repairs of the sliding glass door
Tumblr media
Clean the rail with the door installed
If the door does not move easily, this can often be remedied by cleaning the track with the door installed. Vacuum the track thoroughly, clean it with a damp rag, and then vacuum up any remaining water. Do this with both the door open and closed so you can clean the entire length of the track. If this does not help with the door, you will need to remove it.
Remove the sliding glass door
Before you remove the sliding glass door for further maintenance, plan in advance a suitable place to put it down On the inside of the door, locate the roller adjustment screw cover plugs. Remove them by hand or with a flathead screwdriver. Raise the door roller wheels inside the sliding door by turning the screws counterclockwise. This will lower the door. While the helper is holding the door, remove the door stop at the top of the door frame by unscrewing its screws. Tilt the door out of the frame and place it on edge or flat on a soft surface.
Remove the roller wheels
Carefully lever the roller wheels out of the bottom of the sliding glass door by hand or with a screwdriver. Dirt and debris can make it difficult to pull out, so be patient and work slowly.
Cleaning or replacing the roller wheels
If the roller wheels spin freely, you should be able to keep them. In this case, clean and lubricate the inner, mechanical part of the wheels (not the wheel treads). If the wheels are bent or otherwise do not turn well, discard them and replace them with new wheels.
Clean and lubricate the rail
Even a small pebble or sand is enough to impede the door's movement. Lightly lubricate the rail with the silicone lubricant. Wipe off any excess lubricant with a clean rag.
Repair or replace the sealing strip
The weatherstrip at the end of the door is important because it prevents water, dirt and insects from entering the house. In most cases, it's easiest to remove damaged weatherstripping and replace it. The current sealing tape may be glued to the door. If this is the case, use a razor blade or spatula to pull off the sealing tape. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for applying the new sealing tapes. In many cases, the door sealing strips come with a self-adhesive strip. Clean the old adhesive from the sliding glass door with alcohol and a rag. Remove the protective film and then apply the new sealing tape.

Blinds Direct | Made-to-Measure Window Blinds
Blinds
Vertical blinds are stylish and elegant — from inside and out — and are highly functional. They offer privacy, shade and insulation and they create the effect of bigger windows. Due to the wide range of materials and finishes available, there is a vertical blind suited to practically any decor style — whether you’re transforming a modern loft apartment into the perfect bachelor pad, or creating a pretty and feminine family home.
Ascertain what sort of finished effect you want to achieve, as this will allow you to select the right style of Roman blinds. Metallic and vinyl blinds will complement a funky, sleek and modern style. Wooden and fabric blinds are better suited to more casual styles such as country cottage.
Take into account what the room you are decorating will be used for and where it is positioned, before purchasing blinds. In a sun room, fabric vertical blinds are useful for creating some shade and helping to prevent the room from getting too hot, while still allowing light to penetrate the room. In a baby’s nursery, however, wooden blinds may be more suitable for daytime naps, as they will block the light. In a loft apartment where privacy is not really an issue, super-sleek metallic blinds create a funky “frame” for the windows.
Add furniture to the room that complements the blinds. If you are keeping your existing furniture and have yet to purchase your vertical blinds, platinum shutter blinds choose blinds that complement the furniture. Wooden blinds will look out of place with modern black furniture, while metallic blinds will look out of place with antiques.
Combine different styles of blinds in a room with different sized windows. If vertical blinds are hanging at a set of French doors, for example; use Venetian or Roman blinds on the smaller windows.
Soften the overall feel of the room by fixing a decorative curtain pole draped with a soft, sheer fabric above the vertical blinds and day and night blinds. This sheer fabric does not have to work as a functional curtain; it simply disguises the hard lines of the window

Mortgage prisoners: Government made £2.4bn from loan sales, report says
Getty Images
By Tom Espiner
Business reporter, BBC News
The government made £2.4bn by selling mortgages from collapsed lenders to investment firms, a report funded by Martin Lewis has suggested.
Some 200,000 mortgages were sold to firms which cannot offer new deals. Many homeowners are stuck on high rates as other lenders will not accept them.
The founder of the MoneySavingExpert website is calling on the government to free so-called “mortgage prisoners”.
The Treasury said it would consider all proposals put forward.
‘Mortgage prisoners’ sue over ‘unfair’ rates
Samantha has been stuck with her mortgage since the 2008 financial crisis. She told the BBC her payments, which were £546 a month last year, are due to rise to £952 next month.
“I spend my whole time panicking, worrying all the time,” she said. “I don’t sleep most nights.”
Samantha
Mr Lewis said: “This report lays out starkly that the state sold these borrowers into poverty, knowing it could cause them harm, and made billions doing it.
“The result has destroyed lives. People have been left in financial, physical and mental misery, exacerbated by the pandemic and cost of living crisis ripping through their already dire situations.”
Trapped
Samantha got a mortgage on her two-bedroom terraced house with her ex-husband in 1998, and re-mortgaged with Northern Rock two decades ago.
When the bank collapsed, her loan was one of thousands sold by the government to so-called “closed book” lenders.
These are largely investment firms that are not regulated to offer new mortgages, which means people with loans can’t get a cheaper rate through them.
Moving to a different, cheaper mortgage is almost impossible for many because they don’t meet strict lending criteria brought in following the crisis.
‘Ruining my life’
Samantha, who works as an office manager in Swindon, has an interest-only mortgage on £150,000.
The Bank of England has been hiking interest rates, but her lender has also been raising rates independently as well, she said. The rate increased to 8.14% this month, from 7.69% last month, she said.
“I borrow money all the time off my mum,” Samantha said. “I shouldn’t have to be like this just for a mortgage.”
She said hikes in the cost of living have heaped “massive” pressure on her, to the extent where she can’t afford to go to the hairdressers, or to spend even small amounts on presents.
People ask her why she doesn’t just sell her home, but she says that would be to lose everything, and she wouldn’t be able to get another mortgage.
“It’s so hard,” she said. “It’s the bane of my life. It’s ruining my life.”
‘Sold by the state’
The report, which the website’s founder Martin Lewis commissioned from the London School of Economics, puts forward costed solutions to the problem.
It said the government could offer free financial advice and loans to mortgage prisoners. As a fall-back option, it could guarantee loans from other mortgage lenders.
The report suggested that measures to solve the problem would cost between £50m and £347m over 10 years.
The Treasury said that it had “already taken steps with the Financial Conduct Authority [FCA] to update mortgage lending rules, removing the barrier that prevented some mortgage prisoners from being able to switch”.
“We are open to further practical and proportionate solutions to help mortgage prisoners, working with the FCA and industry to carefully consider all proposals put forward,” a spokesperson said.
The FCA said: “We recognise the difficult circumstances faced by affected mortgage borrowers, who cannot switch and could benefit from doing so.
“We removed regulatory barriers to switching and set clear expectations for firms to support borrowers in financial difficulty and the fair treatment of vulnerable customers,” it said.
