Wait, what is that? Pikachu with a steel chair countershield!?
[Image description: Digital illustration of Ash and Pikachu (Pokemon) in the middle of a battle move. Pikachu is on the foreground spinning on the ground, creating a tornado of yellow lightning that rises to the sky while Ash stands on the background surrounded by smoke. Both are smiling. The illustration is made using blues and yellows. End description]

I had an unexpectedly busy day so here’s some more stitched together panning shots! I think the first one is my favorite out of all of the ones so far in total, it’s got such a great range of color and the purple is beautiful. 💜
More shots under the cut.

I love the 2nd movie so so so so so much bc like. It's one of the only times Ash ever tries to turn down a chance to be the hero.
Lugia literally tells him he's the 'chosen one' and has to stop the conflict between the legendary birds, and Ash turns to look at where they're fighting and destroying basically everything caught in the crossfire, turns back to Lugia, and basically says "do I really have to?" And then cries when he realizes he doesn't really have a choice.
It's one of the only times he at least kind of acknowledges that he shouldn't have to be doing this. That he's still inexperienced. That he's just a kid. It's so shksnlcdjdhehd it makes me feel indescribable visceral emotions

They really made Kabu shine in the Pokémon episode.
Even if he’s only shown up for a short time every minute was worth it and awesome.
Also he’s a perfect guy for giving the advices that he did.
Really hoping to see him again at some point.
Very!!! I always like how Kabu in swsh is very supportive of young trainers and I'm glad he's portrayed as such 🥹 he trained them and they honed their skills in Leafage and Ember (i wish they trained other moves too, but oh well).
Also we got to hear Roy's Hogator song again, with backing rock theme! I thought that was so cool 🔥 it's nice to see him figure out his own way of winning the training
I love when Kabu said failure is a better teacher than success, because he went through it himself 😭 Also even though we didn't get to see him using dynamax (was expecting it) but his centiskorch still showed a cool battle!!
His advice to Liko is a good one, don't half ass/throw your battle, it's a disservice to yourself, your partner and your enemy, who's been giving their all. Even if you're softhearted, there are other ways to become a good trainer, and it's up to her to figure it out!
I really like that the episode afterwards is the introduction of Hatena who'd eventually be her partner, nice transition from her being softhearted>hatena who's sensitive of emotions

I feel bad that I couldn't keep watching journeys past the episode of Clemont's return, as happy as i am that he returned at all. i just think it should have went a little differently. Ash should have tackled that gym leader with a hug TRUST ME. Clemont should have got emotional right there. Clemont should've had a wobbly smile on his face, tearing up (as a parallel to when he did in "clemont's got a secret") and ash shouldve been awkward yet somehow outgoing about it because hes not good with sentimental stuff and

You guys know what I really liked about MPM? Aside from Rocket's marvelous Pikachu kidnap scene and any wonderful scene with Latias. And how his Pokemon love him so much shshsj. Anyway-
It's how it really managed to show the growth and progress of Satoshi's character. It was the first time we've seen him tend to a Pokemon with own Potions and all. He's able to tell Latias is scared and vary of him. He's very tender when treating her. He's doing tons of stuff he's seen Takeshi do, or what he's done before with Lizardon, and so on. It really warms my heart to see him do these things, as it tended to be Takeshi or Dent or Iris or Citron who did these injured Pokemon tendings. ALSO, as someone who's very scared of Spear, his scene with Spear was so cute.
I really really really like the direction this final chapter is going so far, and I hope the quality stays the same!

Pokemon Sun and Moon Series Episode Guide
Tumblr media
In honor of the Sun and Moon series finishing 4 years ago, I have made a complete watch guide for the series. Have you never seen the show and want to? Trying to rewatch an episode but can’t remember the number? This guide has it all! This guide also has episodes noted as “filler” in case the episode count is a large commitment (I would recommend watching all the episodes but I get it). There is a notes section at the end where I detail some of the choices I made regarding the guide as well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Bold = “Plot” episodes. What I consider as “plot” episodes are new captures and evolutions for Ash’s team, story episodes, AND character focuses. Character focuses include pokemon evolving, new captures, Z crystals, and episodes FULLY centered around any of the Alola companions(Lillie, Kiawe, Lana, Mallow, and Sophocles) as well as Team Rocket
Italicized = Episodes that don’t fall under as “plot”. Generally, these episodes establish something new to the series that is frequently referenced back to, so watch them. If you are curious about what it establishes, feel free to ask.
Not bolded = “Filler” episodes, generally skippable episodes that exist on their own.

Bonus:
…and if you want more Alola content, the following series, Pokemon Journeys, features 5 episodes based around the Sun and Moon series. Lillie’s final arc gets completed in this series as well, so after finishing Sun and Moon I would recommend watching JN111 in particular to wrap her arc up as well as JN112 because it’s basically just a love letter to the Sun and Moon series.
JN37 - Ash comes back to Alola for the first time in Journeys
JN76 - Ash heads to Alola again, Team Rocket goes to Alola for the first time in Journeys
JN96 - Ash and Goh meet Sophocles in Hoenn
JN111 - Lillie, Gladion, and Lusamine find Mohn
JN112 - Continuation of JN111, everyone reunites with each other at Alola
Notes:
“Filler” and “plot” are noted as such because in my opinion there is no such thing as a filler episode in the Pokemon anime. The term is not applicable to something like the Pokemon anime as there is no true source material. I just use the term to describe episodes that you can skip as they aren’t referenced again.
I opted to be vague about the climaxes in the Nebby Arc, Poipole Arc, and the entirety of the League Arc because explaining anything gives a major spoiler.
I count a single arc as a narrative thread with a clear start and end that lasts for multiple episodes. In the cases of the 3 islands, the end of the arc is the Grand Trial. For what I call the Nebby and Poipole Arc, there is a clear first episode and last episode of the arc.
While the Ultra Guardian missions can come across as not “plot”, I consider them necessary watches because they are tied to the Poipole Arc and to a lesser extent worldbuilding. However any Ultra Guardian mission after the Poipole arc is completed aren’t considered as “plot” in my opinion
Any “filler” episode with the note “would recommend to watch”, are just fun episodes in my opinion. Notably, SM57 has some amazing animation work and SM114 has an amazing battle in it.
This was inspired by @/gifmourningu precure episode guides

Caught up on Dungeon Meshi and now I'm thinking about whether Ash Ketchum would ever eat a pokemon. I think early seasons Ash probably would, but in later seasons I feel like he'd be more a vegetarian of sorts (will definitely eat things produced by a pokemon, but won't eat the meat of one) after training and raising a lot of them.
