My small pocket watch collection. The background is white, but my iPhone does not have a way to correct that.

Anyhow, the Waltham at the top was my grandfather’s. The Burlington Special is NOT a railroad grade watch. The Illinois with Arabic numerals is. It’s an A. Lincoln model. Ca 1915 with 21 jewels.

The Waltham is the thinnest. It’s a much dressier model than the others.

They all need cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment. But I know of no watchmakers in these parts.

The trade school I attended for electronic tech used to have a watchmaker track, but they ended that in the 80’s at some point. Probably a good idea.

So here they sit. In their obsolescent glory.

Here’s the NOT the Railroad watch with the back case removed.

Bad lighting. It deserves better.

Well I finally finished watching Donkey Kong The Animated Series

I have almost no nostalgia for it, I caught a few episodes really early in the morning but I could never follow it's time slot, or any other video game related cartoon for that matter until Pokemon came along. So I saw almost none of it.

I had a good time with it. Yes the CG is dated as hell, and there was obvious butdget cuts ( There were literally two different episodes where Dixie Kong had a pet crustacean that is plot relevant but we never get to see ) I think they massacred Diddy Kong until the latter half of the series where he wasn't such a coward and was ready to throw down with Kremlings, Dixie was almost a non-element, and there was one of two episodes I would call bad.

But I think it's got enough funny jokes and great voice acting and even some genuinely good music that it was more of a positive experience for me.

I also like the premise a bit more than what we get in the games, K. Rool seeking a mythical artifact, rather than just fucking with the Kongs because he hates them, Cranky being some semi-mystic, and DK destined to be the future ruler o fhe island, I think it's all very solid.

This show also made me a lot more fond of Klump and Krusha. I need to see them in more games. And I think I prefer this take on Candy Kong over pretty much any portrayal she's had in the games, despite a few bad moments.

Glad I finally watched it in it's entirety. Consider this another charge to the spell to summon a new Donkey Kong game for 2024.

We love Dame Diana Rigg, who starred as Emma Peel in the famous '60s British TV series "The Avengers." Rigg's outfits were truly of the era and we think the pocket watch belt is simply groovy.

Walking across the dining hall and hear "is that a pocket watch?"

I am wearing a cool pocket watch with a train on it as a necklace. I say yeah and look up to see a guy in a cool suit pulling out his own pocket watch.

We proceed to enthuse about the glories of pocket watches (they let you visually see how much time is left before your thing, if you check a pocket watch you can't be accused of being/actually get distracted by your phone, they look cool, etc.) for a few minutes while his friends laugh awkwardly because they clearly have never had a pocket watch and just don't get it.

Pocket watches are amazing. If you have time blindness/generally struggle with time you should get one or switch your phone to displaying an analog clock. I am so serious about this.

I finally watched the Animal Crossing anime movie tonight with my friend. I actually gave it a go many years ago but I didn't finish it for reasons I don't remember. So all of the ending was a bit of a surprise to me.

It was a pretty sweet little movie. Not very high stakes at all, which, you'd kind of want that for Animal Crossing. I do think something may have been lost in the language barrier or cultural differences in a few scenes. I think that may have something to do with the sub I watched that still used Japanese names. But it was still a good time.

Can I say though, it's very perplexing there hasn't been another Animal Crossing movie, given the series is more popular and profitable than it's ever been, people would smash down the theater doors just to see Isabell hold a jar of mayonnaise for 20 minutes on the big screen I bet. Ah well.
