Percy was conscious (but suffocating to death) while Annabeth was trying to save him
So, from the first watch, I thought Percy's reaction to being released from the chair was odd. If he had been frozen in time in there, wouldn't he wake up asking, "is the quest over? Did we succeed? Where's my mom?" I mean, he had time to before Hephaestus started talking.
But look how devastatingly calm he is as he's engulfed. He is controlling his breathing and forcing himself to say and appear that he's ok
NOW, take a look at how he acts when he's freed
he's taking quick gulps of air. Note: that's not what hyperventilating looks like. And when he goes to stand, he's in pain and grasps Annabeth for support
You know what these symptoms look like? Someone who held their breath too long and can finally breathe again.
Percy was in that chair for almost exactly four minutes, which is generally the threshold for how long the human body can go without oxygen before suffering permanent damage. Note: there will still be damage (like initially feeling weak or sore after regaining air.)
Percy, being the son of Poseidon and a demigod could probably survive longer than the normal human without oxygen. But eventually (probably within the hour) he would have died. And also, he would be awake for a chunk of that time, unable to breathe, unable to move, with the certainty that he was going to die.
So anyway, he lived four minutes of that hell and was genuinely in shock that he was alive

The gods should have come across as less human and more otherworldly/dangerous (not mine but I agree)
The tv show overall as an adaptation is kinda disappointing. (not mine but I agree)
"Not ALL gods." -> An interesting perspective the show is taking; clearly labelling some gods as shitty and some as redeemable.

I don't want a season 2 -> They fucked up season 1 too badly imo

Percy is not actually an idiot, Sally taught him well + Rick girlbossed Sally too much and changed her characterization

Hades's scene kinda flopped - it didn't have the "he was the first god that I met that actually looked godlike," energy
Charon and Hades's vibes should've been swapped - Hades the intimidating one and Charon the cool one in the funky suits
Bad writing in the tv show: the kids walking into traps all, "i know this is a trap"
Things I liked/disliked about episode 7
The change for the solstice passing while the kids are in the lotus casino makes sense

THEY SHOULD HAVE KNELT AT THE CLAIMING SCENE
I'm worried that some people might see Percy actually being stupid/incapable instead of seeing that it's Percy's unreliable perception of himself
The show did a good job with neurodivergence in the beginning episodes
The pinecone line was Percy questioning Zeus's power, not dissing Thalia
The happy goofy Percy scenes never sat right with me - because he lost his mother 1-2 days ago and we never see him mourn - only be really happy and occasionally angry (at his dad)
