henri la roux is in hope county, and
henri la roux is a fucking member of the project of eden's gate*, hand over his heart, a "changed man, billie!"

Gathered up a bunch of August and Papatello info dumping I did yesterday on tweeter. Some was in reply to thoughtful or excited insight from others. I just love them so much OTL
👾🦋
Mikey: [googling] Wait Augustine means "great, magnificent"?
Donnie: [without missing a beat] Correct.
Leo: You....you named your daughter GREAT AND MAGNIFICENT...?
Donnie: Is she not?
Raph: I mean she is but-
Leo: You Cloned YOURSELF. And named your clone GREAT AND MAGNIFICENT-
👾🦋
Donnie and the family absolutely stop referring to August as or joking about her being a/the clone when she's still a baby. Once her personality starts to develop it's so clear she's her own person deserving of individual respect so that doesn't belong on the table. Donnie never hides that August was cloned / how she was made (and August takes pride in being cloned from her Papa who she admires and loves so much - NO ONE is smarter than her Papa, thank you VERY much!) but the clone word is Never used to put her down or belittle her or deprive her of full personhood. If anyone did refer to her specifically as Donnie's clone rather than Donnie's daughter it would absolutely be uncomfortable and kind of sting her. In cousin AUs, how August was created might cause her a little insecurity because she was the "unplanned science experiment gone 'wrong'" in her mind when she's feeling down but no one in her family has ever or would ever consider her that. Donnie boasts that she's his greatest creation (Next to Shelldon, obviously - I don't talk about his role as much but he's just as much Donnie's kid as August, he's just older and pretty self-sufficient by the time August shows up). August and Donnie mutually see their papa-daughter connection as a uniquely special one and enjoy/take pride in sharing it with each other. ;w; <3
Oh my gosh Donnie loves his daughter more than he can handle yES. He would be heartbroken if he ever found out she harboured thoughts like that [being a freaky science experiment mistake forced upon him] and likely go overboard doing his best to assure her in every way he can that he chooses her every millisecond of every day. August would get smothered in gifts and surprises and words of affirmation until it became overwhelming and she demanded he stop. But he'd still be extra attentive and aware of it afterwards.
I don't think August being a clone would be common knowledge outside the family - most would likely assume she has a biological second parent - but if for some reason she ever was teased about it and the fam found out there would be some serious glare intimidation and Very Big Words with the perpetrator's parents
👾🦋
It's important to me that August is treated like her own person independent of her family while also being a valued member of it. Of course Donnie is still going to lay down Dad Law but August's feelings and personhood are taken seriously and treated with respect. It likely helps a LOT that August is normally a pretty well-behaved kid but Donnie does an IMMENSE AMOUNT OF RESEARCH on parenting and babies when he decides to keep August and I think, by the time he's an adult, gentle parenting is something he would do well with. Will he still lose his temper or get impatient? Absolutely. But they both do their best to meet each other half way and ALWAYS apologize and address miscommunications or outbursts after they've cooled off. Neither likes being mad at the other. From his experiences with Shelldon, Donnie would know that just yelling at someone "because I said so" doesn't work and only hurts both of them to punish without August Fully Understanding Why she's being told no or being disciplined. I would say he's strict but fair. This gets tricky when she gets up to mischief but he recognizes her acting out is usually out of boredom / lack of stimulation / genuinely not realizing what she’s doing is ‘bad’ rather than maliciousness, and if he's clear in his explanations of why something is inappropriate then August is (usually) very receptive and respectful (unless she sniffs out a flaw in his armor - like their unspoken game of her trying to hack into his lab / certain files and him letting it happen sometimes because it's a good practice and mental challenge for her).
I also rly love August and Donnie bringing out the best in each other, both because of how similar they are AND because of how their differences can sometimes elevate, compliment, and teach each other. ;w; <333 It's not always easy to be a dad or a kid, but there's always, always love, and they actively seek out ways to express that and stay aware of each others' wavelengths even when (ESPECIALLY when) one of them is struggling or they aren't lining up.
I love Donnie having someone he can share his special interests with and who Gets Him and can Relate to how his brain works and struggles and shines. It's definitely such a blessing to have someone like that in your life. ToT
PS - I don’t normally explicitly state it because I worry about not being able to write it well enough but when others clock the neurodivergency in August I just [fist clench, manly tears] I’m rly glad it’s reading. Because writing her that way is definitely intentional.
👾🦋
August gets her own ninpo but it's still a secret right now UwU <3 She WILL however find it difficult to use, yeah. August spends so much time trying to be like her family that she struggles to find Herself amidst powerful giants and that definitely impacts how her ninpo manifests. At first it's unreliable and changes what it is sporadically, refusing to choose what it is. So although she unlocks it much younger than the boys unlocked theirs, she's unable to reliably use it until she's older. To compensate, she spends a lot of time learning how to use different weapons/ninja skills and hand-to-hand combat so she can still be effective even when her ninpo is on the fritz / struggling to find it's own shape. ;v;
Her best not-direct-family buddy is little CJ of the good timeline! They're around the same age and get on thick as thieves. Lots of hockey and junior vigilante-ing and goofing around. Also also->
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He would solidly go as "CJ" and is still Casey Sr's son. I imagine him being like kind of a mix of Rise movie Casey Jr. and 2012 Casey when he's older. A little louder and more gremlin than movie CJ cause he didn't grow up in an APOCALYPSE and is fully raised by Casey Sr, but still possessing plenty of the heart and heroics. Timid when he's younger though. Very
Augs: Excuse me, he asked for NO PICKLES
CJ: 🥺[shyly letting August take the lead, holding the hem of his own shirt]
Very old art incoming->

👾🦋
Anyway yeah I love August and Paptello (And CJ!)

Part three to baby mirabel au
Mirabel's mortified. As she lies there on the weird table her mama had just placed her on whining, kicking her feet out trying desperately to stop her mama from undoing the pins to the diaper and avoid what she knows is inevitable because she's a baby (how!?! How and why is she a baby?!?) And babies need to be changed. "Shhhh mirabo it's ok Mama and papa are here and we will get you nice and clean and change into something else that's not so wet." Her papa is standing behind her mama making funny faces and talking in a funny voice it's enough to slightly distracting her from what her mother is doing and before she knows it that cold wet feeling is replaced with dry and warm and she's in different clothes and in her mama arms.
"Do we really need to wake up your mother now? Shouldn't we.... Shouldn't we wait untill morning?" Her papa sounds nervous and uncomfortable which Mirabel understood completely. The idea of waking abuela up this early in the morning because of something that happened to her makes her want to wail her little head off. "Augustine this is way to important to leave for morning you know that." 'no it isn't we should all just go to bed.' Mirabel feels her stomach rumble a little 'feed me first then go to bed'. But the words comes off as babbling and they continue on the path of doom.
As they reach abuela's door Mirabel tries to think about a way that could delay this but as her papa raises her hand and knocks on her door she's knows there is no delaying it. Her fate is sealed. Abuela is going to see her and she's going to blame her for this she knows it. The door opens and standing there in her nightgown with her hair down is her abuela who takes in both her parents with confused tired eyes then looks down and sees her. The look that comes across her abuela's face was pure shock and confusion. "Julietta? Augustine? What is..... Is that?" Mirabel can't hold it in anymore. She cries. Once abuela is fully awake and realizes what is going on shes going to be in so much trouble and she doesn't want to be in trouble because she didn't do anything (she never does anything she just tries to help. Why was she never allowed to help?) And it's not fair!
"Oh Mira it's ok Mamas here!" her mama gently voice soothes her a little as does the rocking. "That's Mirabel?! How is... how is that Mirabel?! What is going on!" But the sound of her abuela's panicked voice shatters whatever soothing feeling she has. She's in so much trouble she just know it. "Yes mama it is. Can we please go in your room and talk?" Her mama doesn't wait for abuela's response and pushes past her abuela to go into her room she sees from the corner of her eye her papa do the same. She sees her abuela at the door for a moment as if she isn't sure she should close it or just stand there. She picks closing it.
"Julietta what happened?" Her abuela's face isn't confused or shocked anymore she has that familiar look on her face right before she takes over whatever issue is at hand. "I.... I don't know. I was woken up by Casita knocking on my door and the next thing I know I hear a baby crying and I...I followed the sounds to the nursery and.... Mama the nursery is an actual nursery it has a changing table and a toy chest and a crib and.... And a mobile and the dressers have baby clothes in it and cloth diapers and.... I found Mirabel laying in the crib and I...I don't know what happened or how it happened. I just found her this way mama I don't know what to do!" The more her mama talked the mores frantic and scared she sounds which makes Mirabel feels the need to cry harder. Why she feels this way she doesn't know but she's does so she's going with it and that's exactly what she doing. Crying harder. "Here amor let me take her." She's being passed from her mama to her papa and her laying position being switched from her being cradled to her front pressed against her father's front and looking over his shoulder so she has no view of abuela and that calms her down for whatever reason. He rocks her in a different way and gently pats her upper back.
"You found her this way? What do you mean you found her this way?" Her abuela sounds confused and.... Frightened? "Julietta take a deep breath and explain what you mean!" She hears her mother let out an exacerbated sigh and say in a tone that Mirabel rarely ever heard from her mama "What I mean mama is that I found Mirabel laying in a crib where her bed should be after being woken up by Casita and when I picked her up she was wet and when I tried to ask Augustine to find something to work as a diaper Casita helpful point out the drawer full of cloth diapers and baby clothes that we could use. What I'm trying to say is your STUPID PRECIOUS CANDLE HAS TURNED MY YOUNGEST HIJA INTO A BABY AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!" There was a rumble below them as Casita shook slightly, jolting and shocking everyone in the room.... What was that?!
NAH CAUSE. ALMA. MISS MA’AM. Open you eyes dawg 😭 like why would you ask them what happened, when they clearly don’t know what happened…think, Alma, think. Glad Julieta went off, cause wtf was Alma thinking 💀💀 and poor Mirabel, she was scared out of her mind of Alma <\333

The papa Augustin au honestly makes me so mad at all the adults. Like, "Oh, he's stealing my kids!" Do you want him to neglect them? He's the only one watching them! They barely see you, they don't know you, of course they think the only man who takes care of them is their sole parent! You want them to stop, how about actually raising your own children instead of dumping them on him!
"We told you to watch her, not raise her!" ... Isn't that basically the same thing when you make him do it all day every day while you, their actual parents, basically neglect and ignore them to the point they almost never see you. Once again, you don't want him raising your kids, maybe do it yourself.
"You should step aside and let us bond with our kids" I don't see how that's his fault, that sounds like a you problem, the kids get overwhelmed because their father isn't allowed out the house, and instead of easing them into this new life and explaining to them the family dynamics, you try to force them into it, so of course they're gonna go running back to their source of comfort and the only parent they know and that they know who will always be there for them and care for them. Unlike you, who ignored them so much in their childhood until they were 5 that to them, you're just a stranger who knows absolutely nothing about them.
So, this is more the adults fault than Augustin's fault! Even his own wife doesn't see it. Justice for Augustin!
You hit the nail right in the coffin, Anon.
All six kids barely know Julieta, Pepa and Félix, thanks to themselves and Alma. The kids only see them as strangers who are also in the house…
Naturally, this creates problems, which aren’t Agustín’s fault at all, but Alma and the rest sure like to blame him…
It’s what the kids call Epic Fail
And don’t even get me started on the kids’ ceremonies. Those were absolute disasters…

Letters to Home
After the dinner with her new friends, Masa returns to her inn room and falls back on the bed with an excited sigh. They had a girlfriend! They had a girlfriend? Was Sholi their girlfriend? They had talked about being more than friends, but did that automatically make them girlfriends (or whatever the term for not a girl was; they’d need to look into that at some point)? Or were they just talking right now? That was a thing, right? Their girl friends (friends who happened to be girls, not the kind you dated) back home often talked about talking to multiple people at once.
They decide not to dwell on it for the time being and instead focus on being happy. Everything in Limsa had gone better than they ever could have dreamed, and it hadn’t even been a full week yet!
She rolls over onto her side, staring at the knapsack with her limited resources. Inside, she had plenty of parchment for writing to her parents, but did they really want to tell them everything that had happened so far? Well, yes, but also no given how much of it involved gender and sexuality and things she hadn’t quite worked up the nerve to talk to them about in person before she left.
Still, she had promised to write them when she arrived, and that was technically several days ago.
She rolls off the bed to perch on her knees in front of the sac and rummages until she finds the parchment she’d saved just for this explicit purpose. She grabs a few sheets (she highly doubted just one would work) and makes her way to the complimentary desk inside the room.
She taps a pen against her chin as she thinks about what to write.
Dear Mama and Papa
That was simple enough. Good, strong start.
I arrived in Limsa Lominsa a few days ago as of writing this, and so far everything has been a dream.
Yes. Good. Don’t give too much away.
I miss you guys already, but the city has been everything I hoped for and more! I went to the Arcanist’s Guild the first day I arrived, though I had to be shown where it was by a fellow traveler. Her name was Sholi, and she’s a miqo'te like Auntie Sylvie.
Auntie Sylvie wasn’t a biological aunt, but she and Mama had been close friends since their adventuring days and ultimately ended up settling in the same part of the world when they decided to retire. Auntie still traveled, but she made a point to stop by anytime she was in the area or around major holidays.
Speaking of, tell her I said hello next time you see her!
Anyway, back to Sholi. She’s so pretty. She has long whitish-blue hair that she keeps pulled back in two ponytails and the fluffiest ears I’ve ever seen. She’s an archer from outside Gridania who came to Limsa a few months ago, so we’ve bonded over being new in town. She had just enough experience over me to know where things are, so it’s been nice having someone who understands show me around.
She also introduced me to some of her friends who are mages like me! Zevri is a viera, Colette and Augustine (siblings) are Elezens, and Blyss is a Roegadyn. I’ve never seen such an eclectic group of friends before! And now they have an Au Ra friend too in the form of yours truly. At least I’d like to be their friend. I’ve only met with them once, but I already like everyone involved and can’t wait to see them again.
That wasn’t too telling, was it? She described a lot of people, not just Sholi, so they couldn’t possibly realize her feelings for Sholi were any different than the ones she had for everyone else?
The leader of the Arcanist’s Guild is a woman who’s name I fail to remember at the moment. She seems nice enough, and I look forward to interacting with her more in the future. For my introductory assignment, she sent me outside of town to hunt down various creatures and use my magic to put them down. It was fairly easy, all things considered, and I think she mostly wanted to gauge my skills as an Arcanist.
The annoying part was finding my way back to civilization since, as you know, I’m not the best with directions. Limsa is inconvenient in that regard as there are multiple levels, each of which connect to different areas of the city. I’m slowly learning where some things are (I can probably find my way to the Arcanist’s Guild as long as I stick to one certain path from the inn), but thankfully, Sholi is good at such things.
Sholi, like the stereotype suggests, is an archer, and an incredibly good one at that. Or so she claims. I haven’t actually seen her in action yet, but if she’s traveled here from Gridania, she has to be pretty good, right? Or maybe she’s newer like me? It’s hard to tell at this point. We have plans to train together sometime in the near future though, so hopefully then I’ll be able to gauge how good she really is.
Maybe she should tell them? They knew she liked boys and girls, had for several years now (Auntie Sylvie only liked girls, so they were well versed in non-straight folks). Telling them about Sholi shouldn’t be a big deal, but what if they thought she was going too fast? It’s not like they’d actually done anything at this point. They hadn’t even held hands yet!
I’m not sure if I should be telling you this or not, but I really like Sholi.
She removes the pen from parchment, staring down at the sentence she’d just written. They would probably be okay with her dating Sholi, it’s the part that she jumped into it after only a few days in a brand new location that might shock them. But they were also half a world away. What could they do besides lecture her in a letter?
She’s smart and funny and really, really pretty. I know you’re aware that I’m capable of liking girls as well as guys, but…
She sighs, scratching out the last line of text. She needed to go about this carefully.
As you know, I’m bisexual (or pansexual, I’m not entirely sure which yet). And Sholi is really pretty.
Was that weird? Maybe that was weird. She scratches out the part about Sholi, but keeps the bisexual/pansexual part.
What I’m trying to say is that I really like Sholi, and she seems to really like me too. I don’t yet know what’s going to happen in the future, but I’d really like the possibility of being something more than friends with her. I know I’m new to the city (as is she), but I already feel a connection with it in a way that I never felt on the island. And I feel a connection with Sholi that I never felt with anyone before.
I know this might not be appropriate given how short a time I’ve been here, but I’m taking a leap of faith and letting fate decide what happens. Sholi and I have discussed our feelings and decided to try taking things slow and seeing what happens. I know you might not approve of me doing things so quickly, but I really like her and want to see what transpires.
The viera I mentioned, Zevri, is also really cute, but I haven’t interacted with her enough to know for certain how I feel. I just know she’s very cute. There’s a lot of cute people here actually, and it’s a little overwhelming.
She looks over the last paragraph about Zevri and decides to scratch it out as well. Auntie Sylvie may have gotten them used to queer relationships, but she wasn’t sure how much they knew about polyamory. Probably best to save that for later. Maybe if/when she’d actually spoken more than a handful of words to Zevri.
Anyway, I promised to write when I arrived in the city, and I apologize for the delay in doing so, but I’ve been busier than I would’ve anticipated coming into this. Hopefully, you can understand that.
Love you and miss you.
Masa <3
They read over the letter once more, making small edits to wording and spelling here and there before copying it onto a fresh sheet of parchment. They read over it once more, deciding that it looks good enough. And it doesn’t once mention her gender confusion, which is key. She isn’t quite ready to let them know about that. Or about the fact that almost everyone she’d been introduced to was some flavor of trans. Maybe soon, but not yet.
That felt more like an in-person conversation, but she’s not sure when she’ll next see them in person. Which means maybe by then, she’d have figured out something and be able to tell them with certainty what gender she is (or isn’t, as the case may be).
At any rate, she folds up the letter and tucks it into a pocket, vowing to send it off when she left the room for her first official date with Sholi. They hadn’t necessarily discussed when they would be yet, but she suspects it will be soon given how often they’d been seeing each other lately.
She flops back onto the bed, arms splayed and can’t stop the happy grin that spreads across her face. She was here. This was real. She was in Limsa Lominsa and infatuated with a pretty girl. Was this what heaven felt like? If so, she never wanted to leave.

1. Walasse Ting (1929-2010), La Naissance de Vénus, 1966
2. Hans Hofmann (1880-1966), Iris, 1964-1965
3. Walasse Ting (1929-2010), Fire, 1959
4. Sam Gilllam (1933-2022), Cordial I, 1972
5. Walasse Ting (1929-2010), Looking for a Bee, 1968
7. Jules Olitskl (1922-2007), Comprehensive Dream, 1965
8. William J. Glackens (1870-1938), Lake Bathers, No. 2, c.1920
9. Roland Dorcély (1930-2017), La Forêt dans la nuit, 1958-59
10. Gabriel Bien-Aime (né en 1951), Greetings (Damb), 1997

BARDO, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths: Quotes (in French)
- “Il ne veut pas sortir. - Quoi ? - Il veut rester à l’intérieur. - Pourquoi ? - Il dit que le monde part en couille.”
- “Carlos Soler, président des États-Unis du Mexique.”
- “Oh, only Mexicans can turn disgraceful defeat into mythic victory.”
Tu n’as aucune putain de responsabilité.
(Silverio’s father)
- “Je sais pas.  - Elle est morte ? (Silverio) - Je ne suis pas morte. Je suis disparue.  - Vous êtes là, madame. (Silverio) - Laissez-la, ils font tous ça. Papa Augustine
This au belongs to @toaverse
I really love this au and i sort of have my own au based on it that’s going to get its own post this is just some ideas and head cannons i had for the main version
The couples started haveng kids when they were twenty instead of thirty
Julieta wears Pink and Magenta like her mother instead of blue like her husband
Bruno’s clothes have blue accents
Alma is trying to get the priest to annul Julieta and Augustíne’s marriage
Augustine and the kids all know Bruno is in the walls
Isabela has divided out a section of her room and given it to her Dad
Mariano and Dolores are already engaged Alma and Julieta are fine with it but Felix and Pepa hate that Dolores told him to ask Augustine for permission to propose instead of them
They keep the entire situation under wraps but their are still some rumors
Alma thinks Augustine is trying to usurp her as holder of the Miracle
She’s turned him into an evil mastermind in her head
The kids aren’t allowed out except with their “parents” or to do their chores
Their all a little socially stunted Mirabel especially since she doesn’t have chores outside Casita
The town sees them as odd since they don’t come out much and when they do they always avoid their parents
People wonder why Augustine hasn’t been seen in years
Isabela is very overprotective over her father and siblings
Dolores and Mariano were dating for a long time before he proposed
Isabella and Dolores are scared of ending up in a relationship that ends like Julieta and Augustine’s
Mirabel is the one who gets out the least other than Augustine
Mirabels the one who makes their clothes since the ones their given are pink and yellow instead of blue

Hi! First of all I wanted to say, I ADORE your Augustine AU, it's the fluff I didn't know I needed in my life! I know it might be a strange question, and if it is, please don't mind it, I'm just curious; if, by any chance, there would be a crossover with your AU and some other turtle verses (2012 for example), how would they react to little Augustine and Donnie as a dad? I imagine they would swoon over her of course, but I'm just curious if you have any headcanons/specific interactions for a meeting like that!
Ohhhh that's a really interesting question!! I know a little of pretty much all the turtle iterations but I don't feel like I know them well ENOUGH to really go into detail (I'm only like 2 seasons into my 03 watch. I did watch all of 2012 tho! All the movies. I'm like 6 or so omnibuses into IDW and I've read the first omnibus of the OG comics) BUT!! I think pretty much across the board all Donnies would be absolutely FASCINATED with her. "That's amazing!!" "You cloned her yourself??" "What's her growth rate like? How healthy is she?" "What method did you use to create her?" etc. Really interested in the how's and the process. If August herself is old enough to understand what's happening she'd probably go from VERY EXCITED to KIND OF OVERWHELMED very quickly, especially if there's a bunch of scientific and mystic mumbo jumbo talk she's less versed in flying around over her head about herself like she's not there. But I imagined all the Donnies would come back around to themselves and be very sweet and friendly with her, introducing themselves directly to her instead of just addressing Papatello, and coaxing her to talk about herself. I think 03 would be ESPECIALLY good about that. I could see 2012 mentioning Metalhead and August getting excited that he's kind of like Shelldon. And when he smiled big August would be delighted to discover she and 2012 both share a gap in their front teeth. Bayverse has cool classes August would want to try on (he'd let her I think, and maybe play up pretending he can't see without them for laughs). They'd all just be kind of tickled with each other. Lots of laughs and smiles once August opened back up. I'm imagining them all adults here so I could also see one of the Donnies taking Papatello aside like "So....what's it like? Being a dad...?" And Papa getting to have a weird moment of vulnerability cause he's talking to himself but not himself? "...It is....incredible, honestly. She amazes me every day." And there's a softness there with all of them. A little ache for 'what if that was me?' And long looks to August chatting eagerly with another Donnie and thinking 'yeah. there's something kind of beyond words about that'.

Okay, that summer camp AU? Looks. AMAZING. Good sister Isa and the sisters running a summer camp? Yes a hundred yeses, if love to see this expanded on. And for the Bioshock AU - nice choice of nickname for Augustin. *nods approvingly* Abejorro, bumblebee, for his clumsy nature and run-ins with bees, right?
HECK YEAHHHH @julietashusband PEOPLE LIKE YOUR AU
And for Bioshock, yup! I’m glad you caught that ;))) In the games, the Little Sisters call the Big Daddies “Mr. Bubbles” (because of how they view them vs how they actually look.) I decided to give Fèlix and Agustín unique names; which lead to “Papa Abejorro” and Fèlix being called “Papa Trueno”. Or, “Papa Bumblee,” and “Papa Thunder “. Glad someone noticed :)))
