Where were the Metkayina at the End of the Battle?
I’m kind of annoyed that people don’t understand that there are obvious reasons why the Metkayina were MIA at the end of the battle of Three Brothers Rock.
Now, apparently, JamCam had planned to show the Metkayina’s side of the battle, but it had to be cut for the final film. Having said that, these are my thoughts as far as the final cut goes because we don’t know what exactly JamCam had in store for this part.
Now, ON WITH THE TED TALK:
Compared to Neytiri, the Metakayina were at a serious disadvantage when it came to their weapons:
Spears and harpoons are thrust-oriented weapons. In summary, this means you have to get relatively close to your opponent for you to have any affect on them.
Which is not ideal if you’re going against long-range weapons such as guns.
But you may be wondering, “what about Neytiri? She didn’t have a gun and did just fine.”
Neytiri had the luxury of having bows and arrows, which are also long-range weapons. She didn’t have to worry about getting too close to people trying to gun her down because she could kill from a distance.
On top of that, let’s review the size and convenience of these weapons.
A bow & arrows? You can just wear the bow while you have dozens of arrows in a quiver—which you can also wear.
Spears and harpoons?
Tell me, how many spears and harpoons do you think you can hold while riding a skimwing underwater and being shot at with machine guns and torpedos?
Let’s also touch on the fact that recollecting arrows and recollecting harpoons and spears are two very different things.
Arrows aren’t all that big, but a spear or a harpoon would take a lot more time and effort to dislodge from a kill.
And let’s not forget that the Metkayina have never fought against the RDA before, so they didn’t have that type of XP under their belts prior to this battle.
I would guess that they left the battle such that they could restock their weapons and come back to the battle.
“BUT TONOWARI AND RONAL WOULD NEVER LEAVE THEIR CHILDREN OUT THERE ALONE!!!”
Their children are the exact reason why Tonowari and Ronal would make that choice. They’re logical. They are the leaders of their clan for a reason.
They would have reasoned it would be futile to look for their kids if they were completely unarmed. They would have to restock on weapons first. And you can’t tell me that at this point, when they are fresh out of weapons, Tonowari wouldn’t tell Ronal to take the wounded warriors with her and to go back to the village when she is just one bad sneeze away from going into labor.
They knew Tsireya and Aonung were still out there, so even if they weren’t going back for the Sullies, there’s no doubt they would go back for their own children.
