Meaning behind your URL and/or what led to it: Gae Bolg Alternative is the noble phantasm of my favorite fate character. I was originally baka-dot-exe. That blog got flagged in 2019 so I made definitely-not-baka-dot-exe to post. definitely-not got flagged and hidden in 2020 lol, so I made this blog to be main art posting blog. Some time in 2021, baka-dot-exe got forcibly terminated so this became my main blog which was also terminated for a little bit (thankfully I recovered it). definitely-not-baka-dot-exe got unhidden soon after but I just use that blog as an archive to revisit art or refind artists that I love. Summer Retreat, Hanko Okada, early 19th century, Cleveland Museum of Art: Japanese Art
The Nanga, or "Southern School" painters of 17th- and 18th-century Japan were greatly influenced by Chinese culture. The subjects and styles of their work reflected the contemporary Japanese taste for imported Chinese objects and learning. A common practice among Nanga painters was the exchange of small paintings and calligraphies. They also celebrated special gatherings of artist-friends by producing individual sheets that were then gathered together in albums. The sheets shown here were part of such a gathering.
