The Taxi Project 1976: Alfa Romeo New York Taxi, by Italdesign. In the summer of 1976 the Museum of Modern Art hosted an exhibition, organised by Emilio Ambasz, that sought to provide a concrete response to the problems of urban traffic and pollution through new cab projects. Participants took into consideration alternative propulsion systems to reduce environmental impact, as well as providing comfort and safety for passengers, including people with disabilities. The Alfa taxi was adapted from the platform of a regular Alfa Romeo van, including it's engine
