Whenever I make the mistake of checking in on the Metroid Prime 4 rumor mill, I end up wasting a bunch of time listening to youtube videos where a bunch of Gen Xers and early Millennial dudes with way too many consoles and a ridiculous pc gaming rig focus on the dumbest possible shit. Just an absolute circlejerk in that corner of youtube. Going on and on and on about how they hope the Switch 2 is going to have AI upscaling and 120 fps and insane graphics and Nintendo is finally gonna care about hirez horse testicles and Metroid Prime 4 is gonna make Prime Remastered look primitive by comparison. How Metroid Prime 4 should be a Switch 2 exclusive, (which is just insane to me given development was restarted in 2019, way before the Switch 2 was a twinkle in Nintendo's eye) or if it is cross-gen, the Switch 2 version looks so much more orgasmically betterer than the Switch version.
And you know what I want? I want the Switch 2 to fucking suck. I want it to be the graphical/processing equivalent of two Switches duct-taped together like the Wii was to the Gamecube. I want Metroid Prime 4 to be cross-gen and I want it to look the exact same across both releases, and I want it to look the exact same as Prime Remastered so more space and processing and dev efforts can go to other way more important things like good gameplay and world design and story. I will be happy, because Remastered was great as is, but I will be especially happy if Prime 4 and the Switch 2 in general sucks to these guys only. Either they'll shut up, or maybe, just maybe they'll reconsider their obnoxious expectations and skewed priorities.

My conspiracy for why Nintendo is currently going batshit with it’s DMCA takedown requests is because they’re about to pull a Wii U again, with the Switch 2, and they’re preemptively trying to penny pinch because they know sales are gonna either flop or fall off a cliff very quickly after launch.
After seeing what Microsoft and Sony are doing, the Steam Deck and other portable gaming machines come to market, they realized that their plans for the “Switch 2” weren’t gonna cut it, and now they’re panicking. They’re trying to do whatever it takes to keep their name relevant and penny pinch enough so they can hopefully cruise through the Switch 2 era without collapsing and get whatever the next-next console is gonna be, out, before too much damage occurs.

every time i hear about speculation regarding a "Nintendo Switch 2", and how we're "destined any day now to hear confirmation of a release", it just gets increasingly taxing mentally
what happened to the claims of not being in competition with Xbox and PS5, being in our own market? what happened to not wanting to be power hungry? why are y'all rooting so hard to upgrade so fast when we JUST hit the 7 year mark for the system??
don't get me wrong, i'd be fully accepting if anything releases at all! it's just tiring hearing the supposed hype for a system that people don't necessarily need! the original DS line lasted 11 years. the original game boy lasted 14 years alone, 21 years with the GBA variants. with the talks of the switch 2 sounding like a wholly new system, it's just odd hearing journalists act like now's a good time to alienate such a large user base.
idk, with tech advances not being as drastic these days compared to 10-20 years ago, i'm honestly not excited to hear such a quick turnover to a new system.
at least let the switch last past 10 years.

Switch 2 predictions:
It will be announced alongside the first full trailer for Metroid Prime 4 in a September or October Direct, MP4 will be a cross gen title costing $70US on either platform
The handheld screen will be 1080p60 with a decent OLED panel
The Dock will be able to output 1440p90, although few games will ever reach that
Retail price of $399.99US
Power will be behind the Xbox Series S, but past the PS4 pro, making ports needlessly complicated, but still possible
New Joy-cons with Hall Effect Joysticks and capacitive buttons, sticks, and triggers that will make for some neat, unintrusive gimmicks
Old joy-cons will not be forwards-compatible
However, the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with both switch digital and physical games
Framerate and resolution bumps for games that have framerate issues or dynamic resolution but no improvements for games that ran at locked frame rates or resolutions
Gamecube games will be added to NSO at launch
Big exclusive launch title will be Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask HD, full from-the-ground-up remakes... again
Both original games will be immediately pulled from NSO at announcement of remakes
System UI Themes will feature heavily in the marketing, system will be advertised with a new theme that dynamically changes with the most recently attached joy-cons and an OLED black theme
System will have 5G capability, with a SIM slot, Nintendo will use this to market the system as the perfect portable media machine.
The handheld screen will have built in VRR to dynamically lower the resolution in more demanding games a la "the Steam Deck can run anything at 40fps"
Release early April 2024
A new revision of the Switch 1 with a very impressive battery life will release a few months later to pick up the late adopters and bump up the sales with collectors
