Letterless Preview pages for Marauders #6 are up!
With the return of Birdy! -- a classic 90′s character with big guns and telepathy! Could she be our 9th Marauder?
Also, very interested in Somnus interacting with (presumably some kind of illusion) Northstar. If I had to guess, the storyline is gonna touch on the impact of historically out gay characters (a.k.a. Northstar via coming out issue Alpha Flight 106) vs. those past generations who stayed closeted to protect themselves, like Somnus. (apologies in advance for terrible wording, I am very tired and have too many thoughts, not all of them coherent)
Psylocke is definitely still dealing with the loss of her daughter (as she should!) and seeing her beat an albeit fake Sinister is still satisfyingly

Marvel Comics Announces “X-Men: Before the Fall - Sinister Four”
Tumblr media
X-Men: Before the Fall - Sinister Four #1 is one of a series of one-shots will set the stage for Marvel’s ‘Hellfire Gala’ and the ‘Fall of X’ saga. The comic hails from writer Kieron Gillen and artist Paco Medina.
Nathaniel Essex has four clones and it appears that Mother Righteous and Doctor Stasis are plotting...or maybe just enjoying a good wine. “Reeling from the SINS OF THE SINISTER timeline, Mister Sinister failed to reach Dominion and is now answering for his universal crimes. But what of the other Nathanial Essex clones? Who exactly are Mother Righteous, Orbis Stellaris, and Doctor Stasis? What plans might they have for this newly restored universe?” (Marvel Comics)
X-Men: Before the Fall - Sinister Four #1, featuring a cover by Lucas Werneck, goes on sale on July 5, 2023.

Meet Cyclops's New Nemesis, Doctor Stasis!
Tumblr media
Doctor Stasis is the overarching antagonist for the first year of Gerry Duggan and Pepe Larraz's X-Men. Doctor Stasis is a member of the anti-mutant organization Orchis with a penchant for macabre genetic experiments. He is also Nathaniel Essex, but he is not Mister Sinister. He is a different Nathaniel Essex. Doctor Stasis is the first of three additional Essexs to be revealed. All of whom are represented by their own French suit, the kind you find in a deck of playing cards.
Tumblr media
The backstory behind the various Essexs is as follows. In the late 19th century, Doctor Nathaniel Essex envisioned four routes to triumph over machine dominance. Those routes were as follows: The Cosmic Powers, Post-Humanity, Magic, and Mutants. For these four routes, he created four clones, each marked by a French suit on their foreheads. In Essex’s eyes, the clones were in competition, survival of the fittest. The winner he hoped would allow him to ascend to godhood.
Doctor Stasis is the clone with the suit of clubs on his forehead. He is the route of Post-Humanity. Stasis believes in artificially improving human bodies through genetic experiments. Stasis views the rise of Krakoa and mutants as a threat to humanity and his long-term goal of immortality. In his mind, Mutants are a cancer that must be excised from the earth if humanity is ever to ascend.
Tumblr media
In the first year of Duggan's X-Men, Doctor Stasis plans on exposing the secret of mutant resurrection. He wants the X-Men to attempt to suppress the story so Orchis can reveal that mutants took action against the freedom of the press, turning public sentiment against Mutantdom.
Part of Doctor Stasis’s plan was to kill and collect a sample from Cyclops and run tests to see if it was a clone or if the mutants had truly conquered death. Once Cyclops was resurrected, he and fellow X-Men Synch hunted down Stasis where they learned he was actually a version of Nathanial Essex. Even though Stasis escaped, his plans were still foiled when Cyclops revealed the truth of mutant resurrection to reporter Ben Urich instead of suppressing the story as Stasis had hoped.
Doctor Stasis has the potential to be a nemesis for Cyclops. Mister Sinister has long haunted the Summers bloodline but recently expanded beyond that to greater machinations. Doctor Stasis is representative of a specter that has haunted Scott Summers his entire life.
Stasis’s angle of Post-Humanity is a novel take on Sinister. Mister Sinister views Mutants as tools to be used in his grand design. However, Doctor Stasis is repulsed by Mutants and is disgusted at the idea of them existing on the same planet as him. Sinister wants to use Mutants, Doctor Stasis wants to eradicate Mutants.
Another thing Doctor Stasis has going for him is his design. Pepe Larraz is one of the most talented artists working in comics today. Larraz has created so many instantly iconic designs, Doctor Stasis among them. I'd also like to note that Stasis has a cane sword. You can never go wrong with a cane sword.
Doctor Stasis is a fantastic new addition to the X-Men’s rogues gallery. He has a killer design and a great narrative hook. He is an antagonist for Cyclops that harkens back to the character's past. Doctor Stasis is ripe with potential and represents an exciting development for the franchise.

When it comes time for Mister Sinister to come to the MCU, they need to cast three actors too play 3 clones of Sinister, all claiming to be the original.
1 plays classic Glam Rock Claremont Sinister.
1 plays Posh British Gillen Sinister
1 plays Disaster Gay Hickman Sinister.
All believe they are the original Nathanial Essex, and all the movies give evidence that each one has a viable claim to that title, but never confirm which is the OG Sinister.

here's a thought, if he's a cancer just let magneto kill him [hellions #18]
[id: three panels from Hellions of Emma Frost and Magneto talking. The first panel has Emma standing behind Magneto and says, "Nathanial Essex is a cancer." In the other two panels Magneto is turned to the right, he's looking down and the last panel shows a close up of his face he looks angry. He is also talking and says, "Yes. He is." /end id]

I know the timeline is on your list of things to update, so you don't have to go into a lot of detail. But is there anything major that's happened lately that new members should know about?
hello there! the best way to see what happened so far is to check out our c23plotdrop tag on the main. our plot drop has in full detail of what happened but for a quick recap, check out down below!
The creation of the Omegas back in July 1997
Essex announcement made by Nathanial Essex in September
A counter announcement made by The Brotherhood where they made themselves public in September
The Halloween event where a staff member from Xavier was murdered and some other stuff happened ( tw for death and blood )
Charles Xavier revealed himself to the city ( i.e. exposing the fact that he is a mutant and that his institution houses mutants )
Xavier and the Omegas form an alliance and throw a NYE gala together
And that's what you missed on Glee!

Okay, I love Ben Whishaw, beauteous creature that he is, and the hints about his feelings toward Nathanial Hawthorne are nice, though maybe I’m reading too much into that, but the intercutting between the narrative of the Essex and Nickerson telling the story drove me crazy. First, the basic inaccuracy: although Nickerson wrote down his account with the help of a family friend, he never met with Melville. In 1850, he was far from the last survivor of the Essex, and Chase and Pollard were still very much alive too. There was also never any secret that the Essex had been sunk by a whale and that the survivors had to resort to cannibalism. Second, it really messes with the pacing, especially because the interesting human drama is happening on those three boats. Third: are you expecting me to believe that in thirty years, sweet baby faced Tom Holland, who is fourteen years old at the start of the movie, turns into Brenden Gleeson? Even though it would have been historically inaccurate, Gleeson would have been a much better choice for an older Owen Chase, and he would have done a good job depicting the PTSD that Chase suffered from later in life.

The X-Men comic book announcements are hot today!
Not only are we entering a “Fall of X” but we’re getting a prelude to the Fall called “Before the Fall”
Four new series will launch -- Mutants’ First Strike, Heralds of Apocalypse, The Sinister Four, and  Sons of X.
The next X-Men Vote also begins tomorrow.
(Source)
But! Steve Orlando is writing Mutants’ First Strike! Could this be a continuation or offshoot of Marauders?
I mean, I’ve heard strong rumors X-Men Red is definitely NOT cancelled (writer themselves confirmed), even though they haven’t been in the solicits for the past few months. (I assume because it directly leads into Sins of Sinister, it might be on a bit of a break. Same with Immortal X-Men and such).
Hard to say, maybe Marauders is taking the same route?
Anyway, if you’re a fan of Legion of X -- check out Sons of X
Apocalypse/ -- A -- and Genesis (plus the original Four Horsemen) -- check out Heralds of X
You wanna see more Mr. Sinister (and the whole thing going on with card suits) -- The Sinister Four
And for Bishop, Cyclops, Jean Grey (and hopefully Marauder tie-ins) -- Mutants’ First Strike!

mk, so i found a synopsis of Ravencroft: Sabretooth and....very glad i didn’t go looking for a way to buy it, because it sounds like something i would’ve been annoyed at tbecause it didn’t have enough of the title in it
BUT, from what it said that i do care about...
an incident that occurred in 1909...two doctors went head-to-head. Doctor Claudia Russell and Dr. Nathanial Essex. Both of those names should sound familiar to Marvel fans, but especially Essex’s...since he is better known as Mr. Sinister.
As the title implies, Sabretooth played a large role in this issue as well. Apparently, Sabretooth’s association with Sinister goes back nearly a century before he joined the Marauders and participated in THE MUTANT MASSACRE. However, the events of this issue allowed Sabretooth to torment his old nemesis, Wolverine. Sabretooth may have even believed Wolverine was responsible for Jack the Ripper-like killings nearby, but he relished the way that Sinister amputated Logan’s arm and left him lobotomized.
Claudia freed Logan at the cost of exposing her secret: she was a werewolf and likely an ancestor or relative of Jack Russell, Marvel’s WEREWOLF BY NIGHT. Unfortunately, Claudia’s good deed was punished when Sinister and Sabretooth subdued her and conducted horrific experiments upon her. It was a grim ending for Claudia’s story, and yet another ghost to haunt Ravencroft’s walls.
that...actually falls on the timeline pretty nicely
-Logan was discovered by Sinister in the late 1800s when he killed Saul Creed -Victor went hunting Logan and killed Silver Fox in the early 1900s
so, it’s very plausible that after Victor learned about Logan and started hunting him, his path would’ve crossed with Essex’s because he was hunting him too (plus he did cross paths with Clara and Saul too). and even though i think they switched the name sin the “Victor thinks Logan’s killing people” line, it actually would make sense with the Saul bit in there.
so...yeah, i give them a point for having this actually make sense on the established timeline

About Cable
Nathan Christopher Charles Summers [Cable]
Tumblr media
Alias(s): Askani'son, Soldier X, Nathan Dayspring Summers, Nathan Winters, Nathan Dayspring Askani'son, The Chosen One, The Savior
Current Alias: Cable
Age: Unknown [appears late 50’s]
Height: 6'8"
Weight: 350lbs
Mutant Abilities: Telekinesis, telepathy, cyberpathy (manipulated the “infonet” to mimic former, natural abilities).
Non-Mutant Abilities: Highly educated and surprisingly quick for a man of his size, Cable is also an expert marksman, swordsman, and hand-to-hand combatant.
Personality: As a man who’s traveled back and forth across time’s wide ripples, Cable often comes off as somewhat distant, or even cold. Altruistic, but calculating, his presonality expresses itself in bursts of messianic righteousness and extreme arrogance.
//BIO//
[The following is a cobbled-together mess ‘cause tbh Cable has one of the most convoluted, bullshit storylines in comic book history. God bless–and godspeed.]
Cable’s destiny has been planned since before birth by a geneticist named Nathanial Essex, aka Dr. Sinister. His goal is to create a savior, someone to combat an ancient Egyptian mutant named En Sabah Nur, or Apocalypse. Unfortunately, his ideal pair, the mutants Jean Grey and Scott Summers have been torn apart by cosmic forces beyond their control. While Jean recovers in a cocoon created and maintained by the wild Phoenix Force at the bottom of Jamaica Bay, Sinister is hard at work creating a clone of Cyclops’s one true love.
The clone is deemed a failure, until the Phoenix Force reaches out, likely sensing the identical nature of the clone’s genetics and grants unto Madelyne Pryor the spark of life, along with a few of Jean’s memories. Essex creates a false past for her and sends her out into the world to accomplish his goal. Cyclops, brokenhearted with loss, succumbs to her charms, drawn to her similarity to Jean. The two marry quickly and she gives birth to Nathan Christopher Charles Summers, or Cable, as he will come to be known.
As an infant, Nathan’s half-sister Rachel (from an alternate reality) reaches out and creates a psionic link with him, promising to always protect him. Living in Anchorage with his parents, his secluded life seems safe enough, until the strain between Scott and Madelyne reaches an ugly climax. Scott discovers that Jean Grey is alive and leaves his wife and son to rejoin the founding members of the X-Men in New York. Dr. Sinister must move quickly, if he is to recover Nathan (the product of his cloning project and years of genetic research) and destroy Madelyne, thus preventing anyone from discovering that she is a clone.
Madelyne survives the raid on their home, but the Marauders succeed in capturing Nathan. She flees the scene and Scott returns, intent on mending the broken relationship between himself and his family, only to find an empty house. He assumes Madelyne has taken Nathan and moved away. In fact, she is on the run, in the wind only to turn up in New York not long after where she is taken in by the X-Men themselves. She has no child with her and so Scott–and by extension, Jean–begin their frantic search for Nathan. It is the mutant precog Destinywho is finally able to shed light on Nathan’s whereabouts as she points Scott and Jean to Dr. Sinister’s underground lab.
Meanwhile, Nathan’s mother has other plans. After learning the reason for Scott’s abandonment of her and their infant son, she sinks into a deep depression, communicating with a pair of unearthly creatures, the demons S'ym and N'astirh. In her madness, she agrees to exchange her child’s life for power and a portal to Limbo.
In the chaos caused by the X-Men, the demons manage to steal away with ten infants, Nathan included, teleporting to Times Square to use them as conduits for a hellgate. Somehow, amidst the fighting, a telepathic link has been created between Nathan and Jean Grey–possibly due to her genetic code being identical to that of Madelyne Pryor, now calling herself the Goblin Queen.
The X-Men foil the demons’ scheme, but the Goblin Queen will not be defeated so easily. She retreats to the Empire State Building, intent on sacrificing the infants to re-open the portal. Locked in combat with Jean, she surrounds them in a psionic barrier and kills herself, attempting to take Jean with her. Jean reintegrates the bits of the Phoenix Force that had first given life to her clone and saves herself and the child. Now, Madelyne’s memories of Nathan are embedded in Jean’s mind.
The re-formed mutant team known as X-Factor’s sentient Celestial Ship becomes Nathan’s home. Scott even begins to take the boy on missions as his own mutant powers begin to properly manifest. Meanwhile, a mysterious mutant named Cable takes control of the New Mutants team. Unbeknownst to anyone, Cable is an adult Nathan who has stepped back in time and is living paradoxically as an infant and an adult.
Young Nathan’s fate is put in jeopardy when a group called the Riders of the Storm kidnap him and bring him to the Blue Area of the Moon, presenting him to his past, present, and future nemesis: Apocalypse. The ancient mutant infects the boy with a techno-organic virus consisting of a living sort of metallic substance which begins to spread throughout his body, threatening to overtake his internal organs and kill him.
The Celestial Ship creates an electromagnetic field that holds off the virus, but is not a permanent solution. There is no technology in the present that can hope to cure Nathan. Fortunately, a visitor from the future, Sister Askani, of Clan Askani appears to Cyclops. She promises that her people can save his son and that by doing so, he will become a savior in her time. Fearful for the life of his child, Scott agrees and young Nathan Summers is transported far into the future.
In that future, a world ruled by Apocalypse and his Canaanite Army, Nathan is presented to Mother Askani, a time-displaced version of his alternate dimensional half-sister, Rachel. He is worshipped as Dayspring and Askani'son. Fearing the virus has taken its toll, the Askani clan clones Nathan as the only thing keeping him alive is Ship’s electromagnetic precautions. To their surprise, the child pulls through, thus negating the need for a clone.
Rejoicing is short-lived, however as the Canaanite army attacks the Askani and slaughters them all, save Nathan and Mother Askani, who safely escape. Apocalypse himself locates Nathan’s clone and, believing it to be the original, raises the child himself, naming him Stryfe and intending him for the next vessel of En Saba Nur when the need arises.
Mother Askani uses her immense power to transport Jean and Scott’s consciousness into cloned bodies (as their real forms could not have survived the journey into the future) in order to protect Nathan. They raise their son as Redd and Slym Dayspring. A prelate of Apocalypse, called Ch'Vayre captures Nathan, but is apprehended, succeeding only in severely injuring Mother Askani. She now lies in a coma, kept alive by machines. They never tell their son of his true origins, or theirs and they never stay in one place long, forever on the run from Apocalypse and his armies.
After years with no trouble from his T-O virus, it flares up and he falls into another coma. Slym watches over him day and night. Rachel, reaching out telepathically, reveals that, while he’s potentially the most powerful mutant to ever live, he will have to sacrifice his abilities daily in order to hold the virus back.
There comes a day when Apocalypse is ready to take Stryfe’s body and transfer himself, continuing his dark legacy as he has for generations. Slym, Redd and young Nathan are there to stop him. Apocalypse sees through their bodies and identifies them as his ancient adversaries, Cyclops, Jean Grey and Cyclops.
With the help of his disillusioned acolyte, Ch'Vayre, Apocalypse is defeated… for now. Stryfe soon begins to rise in power, however and Nathan is sent wandering, determined to restore the future by changing the past…

One of the things the MCU could do with the X-men is straight-wash Mister Sinister.
Just make him a generic badguy.
I will not accept any adaptation of Sinister that is not the most Glam, Posh, Dramatic Clone-Fucker.
