so i watch wwdits. and i gotta say. that was the worst episode i've ever seen of not just this show, but maybe any show. ever. wow. i'm actually impressed with how bad it was.
i'm considering doing a more serious dissection of how Not to do a character arc or narrative framing. but for now, let me just share some general thoughts:
undoing guillermos vampirism totally shits on his character arc of standing up for himself and taking what he wants regardless of the morality of it. i hate it and it sucks.
also, the reasons make no sense. guillermo has had zero problem killing people until now. the roundabout way they try to explain it, like wow, he could smell someone's shampoo and imagined him picking it out and felt their mutual humanity... why would that not apply to any of the other people he's killed? he's even had somewhat of a relationship with some of them. yet all he's ever done when they die is give a distressed frown AT MOST.
guillermo is a killer and always has been. lately, he's even proud of it. that has, metaphorically, been part of him "embracing who he is."
Tumblr media
but what bothered me even more was nandor. we all know this situation (guillermo being turned by someone else) is his fault for neglecting turning guillermo for 13 years... but instead, everything is framed as guillermos own fault for having someone else turn him. like - look at how mad you made nandor, guillermo. look what you've caused, guillermo. look what you made him do.
which, yikes. i feel like i dont need to say how bad that is.
even worse than nandors jealous rage.... i really hate the stupid condescending "forgiveness" afterwards. thats actually worse. like guillermo was right to be meek and apologetic for this, like it IS something he needs to be forgiven for. but its "okay" now because nandor "forgave" him. lets just move on. no need to interrogate nandors entitlement over guillermo.
you can argue theres the unstated idea that nandor is overreacting. sure. we, the audience, dont want guillermo to die, and thats part of the irreverent way the show treats death and killing.
but still, yknow?
i feel like i'm taking crazy pills, because the real question isnt whether nandor should "forgive" guillermo. in this context, guillermo has done nothing wrong. nandor totally reneged on their agreement as vampire-familiar. guillermo is supposed to serve nandor, and in return, nandor is supposed to turn guillermo. but he keeps not doing it, and in general being shitty towards guillermo. so guillermo takes matters into his own hands.
that COULD be a great character beat. it could confront nandor with his selfishness, and this uneven power relationship where he gets guillermo to stay by not fulfilling his promise.
but the question of whether guillermo should forgive nandor for not turning him, or for throwing a fit when someone else does? not even brought up. even though that really seems like the most pressing question. its crazy how subservient and apologetic guillermo suddenly is, like its S1 all over again. he does some token yelling at nandor, but his primary emotion is clearly guilt. its not enough to remotely change the shitty framing.
look. this show doesnt exactly have much "morality", and i dont want it to. i dont want any of these guys to become upstanding citizens. i like the irreverent tone and how theyre all killers.
but i do care about character arcs and agency.
guillermo has been treated like hes inferior the whole time hes been a familiar. and hes put up with it because he wanted to be a vampire. so by becoming a vampire, he forces the relationship to become equal. he also finally gets what he wants. which is ESPECIALLY poignant when it happens regardless of what nandor wants. it takes back his own agency over the situation, because nandor CAN'T hold it over his head anymore.
and then nandor doesnt like it. and goes into a murderous rage because of own entitlement at being the one to turn guillermo. thats fine as a starting point to a character arc, but guillermo doesn't even stand up for himself. he doesnt fight back as he should - or really, would, given how he's evolved to be more assertive. and then its reinforced by the stupid "forgiveness", like nandor has any right to forgive someone who did nothing wrong. it sets up this convenient scenario where nandor is not confronted for being a shitty master, but guillermo IS confronted for taking control of his own life.
and now, just as conveniently, guillermo just... doesnt like being a vampire, either. so nandor gets to further be a "good friend" making amends by helping "unturn" him. all framed like its about guillermo finding out what he "really" wants.
this is lame and it sucks. not only because guillermos reasons make no sense (again, he's been a killer this whole time? if anything, his arc is more accepting his own lack of morality), but because it resets the chessboard in a way where nandor doesnt have to learn anything.
Tumblr media
nandor doesnt have to confront the sting of guillermo having agency to make this choice without him. he doesnt have to deal with the fact that it never got to be him who turns guillermo. he doesnt have to be forcibly confronted with the fact that he now has to treat guillermo as an equal, because guillermo now doesn't need anything from him.
and it sucks because all that could actually be a great jumping off point for them to, despite everything, start a real relationship. maybe even a romantic one. they could mutually realize they actually care about each other. regardless of this pact.
and you can say that by guillermo deciding to be human (as extremely lame and deeply uncool as that is), it also gives them this "equality." because he would stay with the vampires because he wants to, not because he needs something from nandor.
but you're missing the point - its NANDOR who needs to learn. its HE who needs to be confronted by guillermo making his own choices.
so guillermo just... conveniently changing his mind because he was a full vampire for one (1) fucking day and suddenly decided he's too good to kill people?
it robs nandor of that entire arc. and no, i'm not counting his stupid "forgiving" guillermo as learning to treat him like an equal. that would require a lot more introspection about his own entitlement. that would require him to actually say with his chest that guillermo had every right to make this choice, and its not on nandor to forgive him, its on guillermo whether he would forgive nandor.
that doesn't happen. what actually happens is nandor decides to show guillermo "mercy," which, again, firmly places the agency in nandor's hands. at no point does he have to be vulnerable and accept that guillermo might not want to be with him. at no point does he have to introspect about how he's treated him this whole time.
also. there is a long, proud line in patriarchal thinking of husbands "forgiving" their wives for perceived "disobedience," which only reinforces the husband as the head of the household and that said wives "should" have been more obedient. forgiveness is not always an act of kindness. sometimes it's very condescending. which it is here.
(same for the interpretation i've seen from some, that nandor "always knew" guillermo wasn't cut out to be a vampire. like that's why he didn't turn him. what a horrible, condescending idea. i don't know how you can look at nandor being like "i'm not going to give you what you want, because i know better than you" and not think it's shit.)
Tumblr media
yes, i'm aware of the cheating metaphor. but its a bad metaphor. at least, not without acknowledging that its been an unequal relationship for 13 years where one partner has been neglecting the other constantly. at that point, the nuance should really come out and maybe the partner "cheating" isnt the worst here.
but that doesn't happen.
also... it's just a bad episode. like. in general. like the whole thing with the guide, where you think she actually gets to assert herself? sounds great. too bad its totally undone by gaslighting her into thinking they do like her and are nice to her. like the problem is they just didnt verbalize that "enough." thats yet another bullied or ignored character whose arc of standing up for themselves (even by immoral means, because its an immoral fantasy show) is undercut.
it sucks. guillermo sucks for losing his defiant streak (and metaphorical empowerment through vampirism), nandor sucks for being entitled. this whole show sucks. i suck for bothering to stick with it so long. i'm done. i'm out.

okay wwdits spoilers ahead for eps 1 and 2:
I have a couple theories about some things that are gonna happen/be revealed this season based off of these first two eps:
1) I think The Guide is the one that put the hex on Nadja in the hopes that she would finally be nicer to her but that's gonna backfire bc Nadja has now found "her people" in little antipaxos
2) I think Laszlo is lying to Nandor about being bad at hypnotism so that Nandor will realize he was actually totally able to hypnotize people really well all along, a-la Dumbo style. Otherwise, this would be a really weird ret-con for both Laszlo and Nandor considering we've literally seen Laszlo hypnotize people without a second thought and Nandor struggle to hypnotize cashiers
3) THIS IS A LONG ONE SORRY: Nandor is gonna go full jealous-boyfriend mode from Guillermo and Laszlo "hanging out" more (even tho they're just trying to rectify the Guillermo being turned by someone other than nandor situation) and THEN he's gonna feel betrayed and go EVEN MORE jealous boyfriend mode when he finds out about Guillermo being turned by someone that wasn't him. This will lead to a conversation where Guillermo will get the opportunity to tell nandor very seriously about how hard the past decade+ has been on him and how he felt like nandor was constantly leading him on (with changing him of course...def nothing else...). I kinda hope this comes during the Pride episode next week since the double entendre would be too good to pass up but I also kinda want this jealous dynamic to play out a little longer. I also think The Guide's comment about the crew not allowing her to live with them because 5 vampires in one house would allegedly violate a zoning code will be brought up again once it's finally revealed that Guillermo is a vampire. BUT I also think they could justify it by saying Colin Robinson is half a vampire since he can walk in the sun, eat human food, and doesn't have fangs just like Guillermo, so together they would actually make 1 whole vampire thus keeping their vampire crew number at 4. The math is mathing just trust me on this

*disclaimer: i wrote this based on the leaks and am publishing it after the episode airs because i have been dying to talk about it. some stuff could have been lost or confused in translation.
something to be said about nandor confusing guillermo's boyfriend as his best friend and being jealous of that because we know nandor sees guillermo as his best friend, then him deciding he needs to turn marwa into freddie in order to be happy. maybe because he sees that guillermo was happy and thought if he duplicated it it would make him happy too, without fully grasping how many boundaries he has crossed. he has so much love for guillermo and he genuinely has no idea how to deal with it or where to place it.
he puts marwa/freddie on the trip to see the world, which was what he wanted, and what he wanted with guillermo and it's so clear how badly what he lost in that trip haunts him and i think he doesn't understand why it didn't affect guillermo the same way. why guillermo was able to find happiness with someone else while he just became more miserable. him being so emotional sending marwa/freddie away is really interesting because we know he and marwa did not have any real connection, he did not care about her. he also did not know freddie. that emotion is about nandor and his continued sense of emptiness and longing for something he cannot allow himself to admit, which is how bad he wanted that trip with guillermo and wants guillermo in general. he can't have guillermo because he can't admit this, so he wants the person closest to guillermo. he wants guillermo all for himself, but he cannot verbalize that because that means actually understanding himself and being vulnerable - and in his actions to avoid his feelings he keeps pushing guillermo further away.
i think guillermo still loves nandor, he has loved him almost half his life and that doesn't just go away - but i think that this season at the beginning was about starting to truly break the familiar/master relationship and have them be friends and equals, but as the season went on they fell back into old habits and there needed to be this final straw to make guillermo be fully fed up and set up for season five, where i am guessing nandor will actually have to do a shitton of self reflection and growth and groveling. i kinda expected that to happen this season, but it is hard to fit that into 10 23 min long episodes.
what's interesting is that, i don't feel like guillermo is distraught at losing freddie per se, he barely mentiond him all season, but more upset that nandor still doesn't respect him the way he should and that has led to the end of the one thing in 13 years that was 100% his. but i feel like guillermo's true feelings are hard gage for me because they've really had him be distant with his emotions in terms of like.... everything.
but i think it all just comes down to nandor thinking he is showing guillermo love by NOT turning him because he thinks being a vampire is a curse and guillermo thinking nandor doesn't love or respect him because he won't turn him yet still wants to keep him all to himself, not understanding that nandor feels like if he turns guillermo then guillermo will leave for good because he got all he wanted from nandor.
i don't know really think nandor's actions this season are excusable per se, esp this episide, but i do think they are understandable. not only is nandor a vampire, he is also stupid (canon) and he is also deeply mentally ill. he has made a lot of progress but the fact that he has all these hidden desires and this quest for perfection that he thinks he can reach with wishes and magic, make him backslide and hurt the one he loves most. and he is going to have to face true accountability for everything that has happened this season, which i look forward to.
i do have a very, very icky feeling about what they did to marwa. from making her a shell of a person who just likes what nandor likes to LITERALLY turning her into a white man. i always kinda thought she and freddie would run off together and fall in love, because it feels kinda fitting for nandor and guillermo's false romantic leads, but not like this.
i am giving this "ending" for her the benefit of the doubt because i don't think it's over. nandor still has two wishes and i am pretty confident marwa and freddie will return in s5. i get the sense that the s3 finale will have consequences for the rest of the show and the trip that nandermo had stolen from them will continue to plague them and their relationship as well as everyone who their relationship impacts for a while.
i understand being angry at nandor, but i genuinely find him so interesting because while he has done a lot of morally horrible things i do NOT think he had any malicious intent and i don't think he wanted to hurt anyone- but he has and he is gonna have to cope with that. he isn't beyond redemption (if you wanna think of it like that) or past winning guillermo back but i think he is gonna have a real wake up call to how selfish and hurtful he has been before any of that can happen.

Could nandermo ever go canon? What's the probability? Cus I think the show runners are being weird about it
I honestly do think it will become canon eventually, just maybe not in the way a lot of people want/expect. The wwdits writers are well-known for throwing curveballs at us when we think we know what’s going to happen (i.e. S4E9 “Freddie”, where we all thought Nandor would be jealous of Freddie instead of becoming infatuated with him).
The writers have definitely been building up the romantic tension between Nandermo as the seasons progress though, and I think the fact that in the two most recent seasons they’ve gone out of their way to show the audience that - yes, all of the vampires are canonically queer as fuck, and yes, Guillermo is canonically gay - is telling. It’s meant to indicate to the audience that a romantic pairing between Nandor and Guillermo is 100% a thing that could happen.
Additionally, it’s been shown multiple times that no matter how hard Nandor tries, he can’t find a companion or love interest who truly makes him happy like Guillermo does. And despite the shit Nandor and the other vamps put him through, Guillermo is so down bad for his master that he comes back to be his familiar every time anyway, even when he’s been established to be a better fighter and way more competent than Nandor. Heck, he’s already at least partly a vampire now - why would he need to stick around? And he used to be a bodyguard, so why has he simply reverted back to doting on Nandor?
I also think fan feedback on the ship has been pretty overwhelmingly positive and has only grown since Guillermo was first implied to have feelings for Nandor in season 3. There have been recent articles acknowledging the “will they, won’t they” of their relationship too, and I’ve definitely seen more charged chemistry in the Nandermo scenes in season 5 with the way Harvey and Kayvan are playing the characters.
So while yes, I think that Nandermo will eventually become canon, I’m still not certain it will happen this season (I remember thinking it might happen in s3 or s4 and was disappointed lol). They may drag this out til the end of the show… Or maybe at the end of this season, they’ll pull a “they finally kiss but there are misunderstandings that keep them from being together” - like Nandor finding out that Guillermo went to Derek to turn him and feeling betrayed. I would honestly not be mad if they went that route because then at least there would be confirmation that this is a ship that is being taken seriously by the writers and not just something they tease.

OH GOD OH FUCK WHAT IF ALL OF THE BARON SHIT MAKES NANDOR THINK ABOUT GUILLERMO'S MORTALITY AND WHAT HE MEANS TO HIM
WHAT IF HE THINKS ABOUT SPENDING ALL ETERNITY WITH HIM
WHAT IF HE SAYS THAT HE WANTS TO TURN HIM NEXT EPISODE
WHAT FUCKING THEN HUH!?!?!?!?!
cause with everything that has happened this season EVERYTHING HAS BEEN GOING IN NANDOR'S FAVOR IN THE END FOR THE MOST PART
out with laszlo and sean? by the end he's hypnotized an entire police force and got told that laszlo is jealous of him
wants to go to space to impress guillermo? despite his clothes burning off he does get guillermo's attention and oh yeah HE MADE IT TO FUCKING SPACE
fucked up and said he was a vampire on live tv? in the end he was able to go on air and make everyone watching forget about it
teaching a class and you find out a museum made you look really bad? your friend changed it for you AND YOU GET SOMETHING YOUR MOM GAVE YOU BACK AFTER THE MUSEUM UNKNOWINGLY TOOK IT
the only things that didn't end well up until this point was the whole new friend thing and the helping colin feed thing
but even then he ended up going on a movie date going out to see a movie with guillermo after he's been distant with him all season and he did become kinda closer with colin after sacrificing himself
everything that happened in the roast was the worst he's been through so far this season
and given what happened this might led nandor to think a little
AND FOR ONCE I DON'T WANT HIM TO THINK LIKE AT ALL
CUZ I KNOW WHAT HE'LL THINK ABOUT AND IT'S PROBABLY TURNING GUILLERMO
AND THAT WILL FOR SURE END IN HEARTBREAK
MY HEART CAN'T FUCKING TAKE THIS SHIT MAN 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

you know what pisses me off the most? the fact that i watched 2 seasons of wwdits and i didn't ship nandermo because it didn't feel like they were going there, like you could ship it because there were plenty of great moments between them and the dynamic was great but i could tell their closeness wasn't meant to be romantic, or the romantic undertones weren't meant to be taken seriously. Until season 3. the shift was so obvious! guillermo canonically had a crush on nandor! they can't deny that. it was then that i started shipping it because suddenly this dynamic i loved was something more and it had the potential to be incredible. paul simms can say whatever he wants but he made nandermo canon, at least one sided nandermo. and then he... got bored of it? changed his mind? never meant for it to be more than the joke of the season? i couldn't believe they would do that, i thought nandermo was now The Plan, i was so sure of it! and the end of s3 only reasured me. but now i feel like a fool. there was another shift in season 4, guillermo was over his crush like nadja was over her club in s5. for the longest time i couldn't understand the choices made in s4, it didn't make any sense with what came before, why would they waste the cliffhanger? why would they get separated for a year and not try to find each other? why would guillermo get a bf if not to make nandor jealous and bring them closer? and season 5 was so good and it did bring them closer but as friends... nandor has called guillermo his friend so many times already and it sounds so much like the way other shows queerbait (it doesn't apply here as both are queer but yk what i mean, shipbaiting, wtv) and i didn't want to see it. but i guess i was stuck on the s3 narrative, i was looking at everything that came after with what i knew from s3 in mind, but i see now nandermo was a one season plot that ended with the cliffhanger, that the year apart was their way to finish it, to get a clean slate. i see now that for the writers guillermo's crush is barely more than nandor's crush on meg or the guide's crush on guillermo, another thing that gets discarded from season to season. and since then they've given us just enough to string us along. and i'm pissed off because i fell for it, because they made it canon but not canon enough and now i have to read paul simms call the ship he wrote as romantic "problematic", like we're bad for liking it, like the whole show and characters aren't "problematic", like we're dumb for not taking guillermo's word for it when he said it was over bc we thought this show would give a fuck about arcs and themes and continuity. and yeah we can ship it even if it never becomes canon but it was supposed to, that's why i let myself become invested, because they gave us hope, because it was already happening! and just like guillermo becoming a vampire, it's been undone.

So @professorlehnsherr-almashy did our family time call today and played a version of the game Heartthrob that he put together using some fandoms! Characters from Doctor Who, The Terror, Hornblower, Psychoville, Six Idiots productions, a few favorites from Jane Austin, The League of Gentlemen, What We Do in Shadows, and some rogue favorite characters!
Basically the game is that you draw 3 characters and then draw 2 red flags for each character to have.
You then have to guess who the other person will date/marry and choose one yourself.
Here are the results of the game!
--------------------------
Lee had to marry Pat(BBC Ghosts) for the tax break
Both Lee and Hannah married Lt. Bush(Hornblower)
Both married Ainley!Master
Both married the 13th Doctor
Hannah married Phillip 2nd of Spain(Bill) and because Hannah the 1st of Spain
Lee will date Nandor(WWDS) and be Leto the first of Nandor's country(that ibcant spell I'm so sorry)
Both married Jamie McCrimmon because he does wax sealed love letters
Both married Jeremy (Psychoville) who is wanted in every state except Florida because Florida doesn't want him and he also dives for sunken treasure @fandomsmeantheworldtome (these were Jeremy's red flags and I died🤣)
Both dating/married Eric!Master(Doctor Who)
Married Stella(TLOG) but she refuses to wash her hands and is a serial killer(but the serial killer part isn't the bad part)
Both married Negatus who speaks only in foreign language accent and has a secret stash of frog porn(which could mean anything in Yonderland honestly)
Both dating/marry Harry Goodsir(The Terror)
Both married Mr. Blanky for both of us even though he melts if he gets wet and dabbles in torture.
Lee married Lancelot(King Arthur 2004) who eats pineapple on pizza and is jealous of Lee's cats.
Hannah marries Geoff(TLOG) who is super clingy and is a vampire(and not the sexy kind)🤣🤣🤣 @almost-born-in-1893
I marry all four Georges(Horrible Histories)
Leto marries FitzJames:
Tumblr media
Both married Aelestan (Vikings)
Both marriedbDhawan!Master and Hannah finally succumbs to Satan's temptations.
Leto marries Lee(8th Doctor Companion) who owns the British Maritime Museum
Hannah married Styles(Hornblower) who writes erotic fanfiction and loves olives(there's no lie here🤣🤣🤣)
Prince Phillipe(Versailes) Collects humans skulls. Lee: I'm going to marry him faster!
The Google spinning wheel decided High Denis(Taskmaster) but Hannah decided Clara(Doctor Who) for Lee to marry because those two on the Tardis with a bunch of kids is too cute.
Both married George IV(Horrible Histories) who is a serial killer and has an unlimited amount of cheese.
Both married Lazlo(WWDS) because Guillermo was secretly Lee's clone.
Both married Nadjia(WWDS) who can't remember your name and spends more time in horny jail than with you.
*Highlight: Lee managed to pull Horatio, Cotard, and Pellew for one round*(Hornblower) and Hannah is dating Cotard and Lee married Horatio.
For the final round we had four candidates:
Elder Vex(Yonderland), Jenny (RRR), Marianne(Sense and Sensibility), and Romana II(Doctor Who)
Elder Vex eats crayons and ends every conversation with "you're dismissed."(which sounds right) Jenny has a dozen kids from a dozen partners and has a pet boa constrictor
Final Round: Lee married Jenny & Marianne
Hannah married Jenny & Vex
Random funny photos I took:

All of it so good! I spotted the freddie writers i think broken up in a few credits (theyre freelance so makes sense). Clearly death threats worked…dont learn from that.
If somehow ur reading and dont get spoilers coming well they are so its on u at this point. Random thoughts below
*Loved Derek’s fashion choices! Also his lil bat jazz hands flourish srsly a+.
*Nandor…incorrectly…thinking its Guillermo’s bday and throwing him a dinner and buying him a gift was very sweet…despite being book ended between insults about never turning him and Nandor not seeming too worried if he died
*my sis and i clocked right away how he wouldnt let guillermo sit next to him at guillermos special fake bday dinner. Nandor u ho. U make him reas u bedtime stories AND brush ur hair but wont sir next to him cuz horny? I refuse to believe any other reason
*WHERE IS THE HELL HOUND?! I MUST HAVE THE HELL HOUND! And i will be angrier than freddie ep if hes gone.
*is it weird Guillermo went to you…gene and the sire for turning advice after learning its forbidden? Also im choosing to believe this is a new superstition cuz they didnt seem arsed by it
*rip neighbor dude. Ppl are right its plot holey look its still the freddie writers in there ok?!
*sooo much bad turning in these two eps it was srsly keystone cops style and i was laughing my ass off despite being like derek irl
*nadja u bitch. Making nadjita dance and show her pussy is MEAN! You drunken slut. I dis enjoy taint that can write checks tho
*another plothole: it always seemed nandor was as shit at laszlo as hypnosis and i always took it of all 3 he was the worst (nadja the best). Animal control anyone? Well now he gets to be a pig amongst guinea pigs he’ll brag of this forever
*’cuz his brains fucked’ had me rolling. Also laszlo u liar u hypnotized him when trying to kiss him got u nowhere
*i was off my face w drug blood was also a good line
*colin didnt do much here but his waiter job and greek bit were great
*i am glad despite pussy showing nadjita has more movement finally
*laszlo has no god damned right to look that tasty
*the shit and fart jokes were mostly flat. I was waiting for laszlo to say he thought guillermo was hitting on him or something. That said seems we get jealous nandor next week and thats all i want
*poor guide, poor sean. Mikey u cunt
*the quebecois thing delighted my sis who studied there (france ppl hate ice right? But $8 wine is primo so u know)
*poor guillermo. Hes clearly a slayer vamp hybrid and very sad about it. Cant wait to see Nandor learn this. Also u will never convince me he could kill guillermo. Other than his eyes watering Guillermo has beat his ass like a rented mule twice now. Cheating or not (i say not)
*seems death threats also made note of make nandor better cuz hes followed a hippy self help book. Its kinda sweet cuz thats where his minimal kindness to guillermo comes from. I dont believe he ever through benji a bday dinner let alone convinced the others to come along
*colin seems aware hes been out of the job game for awhile but makes no indication if he knows why. Laszlo treats him basically same as always and vice versa

WWDITS S5 ep 1 & 2 thoughts
HI, my friends!!!! **SPOILERS AHEAD!!!** Pls slide by, this account will not be safe for spoilers (for whatever current eps are out, i am closing my eyes for teasers on new eps).   Current thoughts, ep1 , HOLY MOLY I,,I really feel bad for Guillermo, they make my boy suffer so much. Though I couldn’t help but laugh knowing the other coworker at Derek’s place would not look up, while there is a literal blood scene on the floor. But, also why is this man still cleaning toilets, when he was given a huge sum of money, sir go get urself something nice... AJSNAs. Nandor was so cute on the carousel, and omg when he broke the door it actually scared me. I keep forgetting that these vampires can be scary sometimes, but we all know Guillermo would be the one to survive in the end. And lord puppy eyes for the guide, let her wIN, I support womans wrongs but Nadja baby pls.. AJSNA Ep 2, Again great, I just, I really love Lazlo and Nandor bonding more as per usual. It was so cute when Lazlo admitted he was jealous of Nandor’s hypnosis powers, and honestly, I feel like Nandor is getting more powerful not in just that, something is happening??? Idek...very nice for Nadja to find a place that reminds her of home, I was really going awww, especially when the guide mimicked her happy spin, reminds me of when Lazlo mimicked Nadja’s little dance as well. Also don’t think I forgot, fucking I, How the hell is baron Afanas keeps getting pretter in every frame, and me crying cause the sire was making himself a little circus with popsicle sticks, IM GUNNA CRY AND THROW UP. Why can’t I live in that house it’s not fair. Now for more Lazlo and Guillermo bonding.,, but honestly these new eps made me laugh and worried at the same time. We are in for some more Nandermo trauma, The writers of this show really popped off and I CAN’t-
In conclusion I’ve rewatched these 2 eps, twice already, I will partake in a 3rd watch, when I first watched I felt like life was not real, I’m so so happy! I ran to tumblr to check what everyone had to say, yall are so smart and funny! I want to draw but my hand is still sore from yesterday, I have so many things I want to doodle! More art in the future! Thank you for yalls support, feel free to tell me ur thoughts, sending Hearts! ❤❤❤

In reference to Guillermo not objecting, I feel like another portion of it could be linked to the fact that he doesn’t know about the recent wish. Like what if regardless of his feelings, being the heart guard, and overall desire for Nandor to be happy he also is in the mindset that he may be planning to leave and be with Freddy. He realizes that as much as he cares about Nandor, his time with him is limited and he can look to Marwa as a possible solution to guilt about leaving him. He personally knows about how hard it can be at times to love Nandor due to his selfish attitude and knows that whoever he is with needs to unconditionally love Nandor to take care of him. It’s like a changing of the guards situation. He also is likely unaware of Nandor not planning to turn Marwa so he may be under the impression that Nandor could begin to love Marwa as time goes on. Like part of me feels like most of the ‘not jealous’ behavior is genuine as it makes ripping the bandaid off easier.
I mean, some of that's true? But people who barely even knew either one of them knew immediately that they didn't love each other. (See: The Baron.) I think it was extremely obvious that Marwa was not a real viable option for Nandor, even if Guillermo actually wanted her to be.
Guillermo may not have known about the wish, but neither did most of the other people in that hour-long line -- and the only two that did know about it came up with completely different objections.
But Guillermo did know that Nandor chose her through process of elimination. He did know that Nandor didn't particularly like being around her and regularly avoided her. He did know that Nandor was changing both him and Marwa in a desperate bid to make things work between them because neither one of them loved each other for who they actually were. He certainly knew everything that Marwa's mom said.
The fact that he clearly kind of agreed with Nadja's criticisms really just hammers home that Guillermo knows this is a bad idea. In his heart, he definitely knows this is a terrible idea. The fact that he never said anything about it being terrible is weird, because no one else had that compunction and Guillermo has always been the first one to say something. He's been fairly bullish about it, in fact.
Honestly, I could see him wanting it to work? But I don't think he thinks it actually will. I think it's a lot more likely that he's telling himself everything is fine so he doesn't have to contemplate what he's actually feeling. If everything is fine and he has no objections to Nandor's wedding, then he doesn't have to think about why he's actually so goddamn stressed out about all this. It lets him ignore the fact that he's really not planning to go anywhere anymore. Not really. He may tell himself that he is, but I think it's becoming increasingly obvious that he has no intention of leaving this household for good. He keeps finding excuses to stay exactly where he is even as he says he wants to go.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Denial.

my thoughts on the leaked eps and expectations vs reality (yes they got leaked in Russian again, I haven't watched them at all just read the plot summaries from those who have, so I'm suspending full judgement until I watch the eps when they air). DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS.
So. Idk, kinda double-edged sword here. On the one hand, we had a magnificent time this season coming up with supplementary development and subplots about the side characters (Marwa, the Djinn, the Guide, etc) and we had such good fun imagining how Nandermo might be jealous of each other and do other typical slowburn trope-y things we've come to expect from slowburn romances in TV shows. On the other hand, I think in the process we may have lost sight of what this show is and always has been, which is, at the end of the day, a group of idiotic, self-obsessed vampires that continue to make the same mistakes over and over and fail upwards. I think because the show is so unapologetically queer, we keep expecting those elements of found family and self-progression to stay true throughout the course of the story, but that's not really what this particular show has ever aimed to be.
To be sure, I'm disappointed with what ends up happening with Marwa. I can't imagine that watching it properly in English is going to change my mind about that, but I wonder how much of my disappointment was set up because I couldn't parse those amazing headcanons about her from the actual text of the show and what they were setting up to have us expect from her which, if you think about the actual text of the show, isn't much. I still think she deserved more and I still don't agree with the optics of the first regular WOC being treated like a sim in CAS before having her entire identity erased in favor of a yt dude and then shipped off to probably never be seen again. I really think to some extent they dropped the ball with Marwa, maybe underestimating how much viewers would love and want to see more from her (as well as her revenge). Because I will say, to be fair, that most tertiary characters get treated this way, though perhaps maybe not to the level of mindwashed horror as Marwa. I don't think we as viewers are misplaced in wanting to see at least Nandor get some kind of comeuppance for this.
As far as his sins against Guillermo go though, I don't think this is anything too off base from what Nandor would normally do, and I don't think he necessarily does it out of maliciousness towards Guillermo. That's the point I think they're trying to make about Nandor here; he's so self-focused, he does whatever he thinks the immediate gratification solution would be without any concern for the consequences. He clones Guillermo's boyfriend without a single thought to how this might negatively affect anyone else. He's an idiot, basically, of course.
And Colin having his entire plot as a child erased from his memory is doubly frustrating and tragic, even as I love knowing we get old Colin back.
So yea there's definitely a cynical kind of vibe to this season that I think is leaving a bad taste in everyone's mouth. We're wondering what the writers are trying to say about the characters, if there's any point to keep watching or if we can just rest assured that these characters will go on making the same mistakes, never changing, and always ending up back at the restart button. BUT THE THING IS...we do have at least two more seasons, and an element of vampirisim in this show has always been that struggle to break free of endless cycles in an existence that goes on indefinitely, so it makes sense that this would continue as a conflict before the story reaches it's final denouement.
But I do have to say at this juncture that I agree some things were indisputably fucked up this season, my main complaint being the way Marwa's character was treated. Sure, there's time for them to bring her back and remedy this, but they could have done better by her to begin with than leaving us with this unpleasant bookend.

Some of my rambling thoughts about tonight’s WWDITS episode - the much-anticipated S4E9: Freddie.
First thing’s first: I appreciate that they did something that none of us expected or predicted by instead of having Nandor be jealous of Freddie, he started crushing on Freddie. Honestly, I really love that Nandor has been shown to be so openly queer this season, more so than has ever been shown before in the series. And I definitely think it’s being done for a reason. I also think that there is a reason Nandor specifically latched into Freddie as well, but we’ll get to that later.
Before that, I wanted to discuss something that has really bothered me this season and came to a head this episode. It’s bad enough that Marwa had pretty much lost all of her agency and was basically brainwashed into marrying Nandor due to his wishes (which imo makes their relationship as a whole not super consensual). Now, Marwa, one of the few female characters and the only POC female character, has now (presumably) been permanently turned into an exact copy of a white british man. She has completely lost all agency, and is no longer herself. Literally.
I really loved Marwa’s character and her actress. I wanted to see more of her in the show. And as Nandor steadily removed more and more of what made her the true Marwa, myself and several others have commented on how disappointed we have been with this plotline. I know a lot of us were hoping that Marwa would be returned to her original self and would get to leave and just be her own person. But I guess Nandor would have to wish for that, and it’s episodes like these where it seems he is incapable of being anything but selfish.
However - returning to the Nandor and Guillermo discussion - I do appreciate that Guillermo stood up for himself and told Nandor to his face that what he was doing was wrong and hurtful, and I saw that during that scene you could see how taken aback Nandor was. Harvey did such a great job with his acting in this scene - it made me feel for him so much, and it’s clear the scene was intended to be extremely serious despite the comical situation. It’s been shown time and time again that Nandor does, deep down, genuinely care for Guillermo, even as early as season 1. And this season especially has gone to great lengths to show us how much Nandor values Guillermo as a person and friend.
Which brings me back to the reason Nandor immediately latched onto Freddie. Just like Guillermo said - Nandor has everything he “wants.” And yet, at the end of the day, he went and chose to turn his already extremely wish-altered “perfect” wife into an exact copy of Guillermo’s boyfriend.
My theory is this, and I’m sure many Nandermo shippers think the same: Nandor is so afraid of getting too close to Guillermo. Why? My guess is he’s afraid that things will go awry and he’ll lose Guillermo forever. But, at the same time, he (as evidenced through Marwa’s words) doesn’t know what he’d do without him. He set up this big elaborate wedding, which he was clearly trying to self-sabotage, just to keep Guillermo around. However, his feelings for Guillermo appear to be so repressed that he can’t even bring himself to hug him. So what does he do? He can’t have Guillermo? How about his boyfriend. There has to be something going on subconsciously there with Nandor.
With the way things went for Guillermo in this episode, I think that they are setting up him leaving the vamps in the finale next week. I felt for him so much this episode and I love that they didn’t trivialize his misfortune this time like they’ve done in the past. He is genuinely hurt and heartbroken. And it’s all Nandor’s fault. What reason does he have to stay?
Guess we’ll find out next week.
