Hello everyone! I'm finally getting around to planning out book posts like I mentioned in a post the other week!
I figured that I would start with a general post showing you all of the books that I've read so far this year! They're in the order that I read them for the most part. I had to throw The Black Phone Stories at the top so that my stack wouldn't be too haphazardous.
I've talked on here breifly before that I would like to start posting more, and specifically post some bookish content. I've loved books since I was a child, and I've collected them my whole life.
I've always been a reader but I've found that the last two years of my life I'm starting to read just as much as I did when I was a child. This is something that I'm really excited about. I've discovered so masny amazing titles and authors the past few months and my To Read List is getting longer and longer.
I'm not sure exactly how these posts will go, I imagine they'll be quite rambly just like this one. I'll always warn before I spoil anything, but keep in mind that I will be posting spoilers!
Let me know if you've read or plan to read any of the books in this list! I dont know if I'll make a post on every book on here, but I'm going to for sure make posts on my favorite ones! If I'm being honest, most of them have become a favorite in some way. I feel like I've gotten so lucky with my book selections this year!
Reply with any book reccs you have for me!! :D
Also, I'm currently reading These Violent Delights, I'm a bit over halfway and I absoluuutely love it so far!! I can't wait to read the sequel, I have sooo many sequels to read!! A lot of the books in this list have sequels coming out this year and early next year!!

5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It takes so much for me to rate something a five-out-of-five, but seriously? This book is amazing. Everything about how they approach lesbian themes, to supernatural/creepy themes, to gore. Oh, it makes me feel how it is intended. If you're a fan of horror, I would really recommend this book. The plot twists are something that had my mouth open— and how this book goes from 1 to 100 quickly with the gore is flattering. What else can I say . . .?
Oh, yeah, Selena is a bi queen and Finch is a lesbian queen. Take that as you will, and I would GENUINELY recommend reading this in one sitting. <3
Page number: 350 pgs.
Author (c): Kayla Cottingham
TW (TRIGGER WARNING)s:
Gore
Teenage cringe
Creepy description tellings
(No, not putting lesbianism as a trigger, fuck off if you're homophobic) Romance [Both straight and gay]
Cults
Suggestive themes (not that much, no smut or anything
Gay panics 😻

Reluctant Reader Wednesday: My Dearest Darkest by Kayla Cottingham
When Finch starts the school year as a transfer student at the prestigious, private, and competitive Ulalume Academy, her life has already gone through some major changes.
The day of Finch’s audition for the school’s music program, as she and her parents were driving home, their car went off the road and into a river. Finch’s parents both died, but Finch survived … although she doesn’t understand how that could have happened. Because her heart stopped, and then something started it up again.
Now Finch is a student at Ulalume, and things are even more complicated for her than just the weirdness of coming back from the dead. As she meets new students, she has to figure out which ones have the potential to become her enemies, her friends, or even something more than friends. Plus, the old school has some secrets of its own, including several mysterious disappearances and a strange creature that can be found by exploring the tunnels underneath the school.
Give this book to teens who are fans of sapphic horror and dark academia!

Pros of the book we just read:
Basically The Craft with explicit sapphics, and also instead of witchcraft it's girls fucking with an Eldritch deity they found trapped in a basement
Cons of the book we just read:
one of the main characters has an ex who gets an Eldritch monster form because she's super devoted to the evil Eldritch god and it's super cool and none of the Heroic sapphics get cool tentacles :(

Halloween 2023: 31 Days of Dark Academia, October 10
Dark Academia novel:
My Dearest Darkest by Kayla Cottingham (2022)
From the cover:
You’ll never guess what’s watching in the dark...
Quote:
While all towns have their ghosts, Rainwater’s was special. They sank through its submerged sea caves and slithered up its cliffs. They bounced around its caverns and tunnels like electrical pulses in a brain, echoing memories of footsteps and laughter and screams through the ground and into the towering evergreen trees. The peninsula had a habit of keeping things long after they were gone.
