An Aberration's Guide to Surviving in Baldur's Gate

Omeluum, weary of the struggle of existence as a lone illithid in the Underdark, decides to try its luck in the city. It arrives in Baldur's Gate with nothing more than its host's memories of and passion for tea, a few possessions, and enough money to (hopefully) start up a small shop. That, and a diamond-hard core of determination. It isn't looking to become fabulously wealthy, merely make enough to get by and fund its attempts to develop a supplement to replace the brains its biology requires it to eat.

It certainly doesn't expect to make any friends. After all, who would be so foolish as to trust an illithid?

The companion story to "On the Properties of Tea," this story explores the events through Omeluum's perspective. While there is a good deal of overlap, there are things it experiences, or notices, which are somewhat different than Blurg's perspective. Like the other, there are currently three chapters out, and more to come!

Had a lot of fun designing these two and ended up channeling more Elden Ring vibes than I first thought 😂🙏 I can't complain about that though, and I think these two are my favorite of the pairs :) Just love their contrasting dynamics!

Illithid Romance and Pleasure: A Case Study

I have begun to discern a pattern in Blurg's behavior. Certain actions, certain phrasings point toward a possible interest beyond mere friendship. Beyond scientific fellowship. In certain moments, I detect something that seems to hint at a deeper sort of affection.

I must know more.

Omeluum attempts to discreetly research how hobgoblins express romantic interest. Blurg notices and offers his help. Together they begin exploring the possibility of a deeper relationship, charting a map into previously unknown territory for both of their kinds.

This one was a real treat. I signed up for an exchange and got a friend as my recipient, so I had some fun with this.

Tarot is kind of like astrology to me in that I don't believe drawing certain cards or being born at a certain time really means anything. But they're interesting to use as kind of like introspective thought excercises to help you figure out your own feelings. Am I making sense.

u guys remember that film where alan rickman and his wife picked up a young hitchhicker norman reedus and the film made you believe the wife and norman reedus were having an affair but then she died from poisoning (mushroom) and it turned out alan rickman and norman reedus were actually the ones with the affair and they had planned to kill alan rickmans wife so they could be together. that film was crazy.

Probably! Depends on which version you want; I'm willing to make more plain mini mushroom guys, and I still have both the original mini mushroom prototypes*, but if you want an inky cap mushroom creature it'll probably be more expensive. I've been adding beads to the current one for about an hour and I'm still not done lol *I'll want to keep at least one because I have not yet typed up the assembly instructions, and I try to keep at least one prototype of every pattern until I have instructions saved
