Dracula's roommates, in gifs
All gifs by talented tumblr gif-makers, commentary by me. I haven't seen most of the films so all commentary is on vibes alone.
Dracula (1931)
Tumblr media
Full marks for spookiness, and here we have a book-accurate two brunettes and a blonde. I'm impressed by the amount of fabric that these ladies are collectively wearing, especially given that the front hem of their dresses is longer than floor-length. I wonder how many takes they had where they just tripped up and faceplanted the spooky stone floor?
Brides of Dracula (1960)
Tumblr media
There are only two brides in this, as part of the plot is the acquisition of a third bride. The main vibe these two give me are of a sleepover just as the edibles are kicking in. They seem very friendly. Might get the munchies later though.
Dracula (1968)
Tumblr media
It's hard to tell from the gif, but this is what Wikipedia claims to be the only version where one of the brides of Dracula is black (on the left, played by Nina Baden-Semper). I'm surprised more adaptations don't do this, given the physical description we get only requires that two are dark and one fair. Sadly they don't get any dialogue in this, just some expressive hand-movements.
Count Dracula (1977)
Tumblr media
Dear lord, could this be more 70s?? The hair, the dresses, the makeup, even what I assume is a cod-medieval tapestry could only be from one decade. I don't much like the kind of brattish submissiveness happening in this gif (ymmv, of course). But apparently one of them is French, which is fun.
Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
Tumblr media
Interesting how much more active the brides become as the years go on. I mean, the lip-licking is right there in the text, but this feels very full on compared with the coquettish earlier brides. They do look fabulous though - so fabulous that all other brides follow the same model from this point onwards.
Dracula 2000 (2000, unsurprisingly)
Tumblr media
A modern-day Dracula provides us with some modern-day brides, though in essence they're much the same as the 1992 ones. I have never seen anyone on Tumblr ever mention this film, which makes me suspect that it's atrocious.
Van Helsing (2004)
Tumblr media
Dracula starts off with three brides in Van Helsing but if I remember correctly, they don't appear on screen at the same time (if they do, I couldn't find a gif of it). I kind of wish they'd gone for the period-ish costumes of the ballroom scene for the brides, but instead we get 1992 again, in both costume and general red-lipped vampishness.

I’m watching the latest season of MST3K and one of the movies they’re riffing is the 1992 film Munchie, which was the film debut of 9-1-1’s Jennifer Love Hewitt!

Top 10 animes for first time viewers
Hello, my socially awkward friends,
I’m back after a much-needed vacation to bring you the content, which you crave. In recent weeks, I’ve been approached by friends and colleagues, about what amines they should watch. To say that it was a loaded question is an understatement. With the world of anime and manga being so vast, it's hard to know where to start.
After thinking it over, I’ve decided to follow suit of my supernatural top 10 and do a top 10 for anime for beginners.
Today's post will cover amines for first-time viewers. Let me start by saying that, This Is my Opinion! Please do not jump my bones because of the line-up. Now with that being said, let get this party started.
 (10) Sailor Moon/Sailor Moon Crystal
Tumblr media
Written by Nanoko Takeuchi
Genre/subgenre: Magical girl, action, romance, shoujo, superhero
Manga original run: (December 28, 1991, to February 3, 1997)
Anime Run: Sailor Moon (1992-1993) 46 episodes
   Sailor Moon R (1993- 1994) 43 episodes
   Sailor Moon S (1994- 1995) 38 episodes
   Sailor Moon Super S (1995- 1996) 39 episode
Sailor Moon Sailor Star (1996- 1997) 34 episodes
The series follows the adventures of the protagonist Usagi Tsukino, a middle school student who is given the power to become the titular Sailor Soldier. Joined by other Sailor Soldiers, they defend Earth against an assortment of evil villains.
Let us start with a classic, remade for the modern-day. For quite a few of my generation, Sailor Moon was our introduction to the world of anime. I can remember watching sailor moon, in the early morning before the school bus came. Sailor Moon was the beginning of my love affair with anime.
Now here is what I got to say on sailor moon. It is a bit wonky, timeline-wise. Sailor Moon's overall timeline can be a bit hard to follow. That is if you are going in-depth with it. As long as you stay away from the headache inducing timeline, you’ll be ok.
 (9)Bleach
Tumblr media
Written by Tite Kubo
Genre/subgenre: Action, Adventure, Shonen, Supernatural, Comedy
Original manga run: August 7, 2001 - August 22, 2016
Original anime run: October 5, 2004 - March 27, 2012
366 episodes
What can I say about Bleach? It is one of my favorite anime’s of all time. It's not perfect but what is? You have a diverse cast of characters, a good story and plenty of action. In my opinion, that makes a great anime for beginners. For me, Bleach was my return to anime, after years of not watching. I think that I've watched this anime from beginning to end, one too many times.
I'm talking watching the U.S. airing up to the point that I had the watch in Japanese. I finished the anime a full 2 years before the finale aired in the U.S. I would highly recommend this anime to any beginners.
 (8) Restaurant to another World
Tumblr media
Written by Junpei Inuzuku
Genre/subgenre= Fantasy, Isekai
Manga Original Run: November 18, 2016, to June 25, 2019
Anime original Run: July 3, 2017, to September 18, 2017
12 episodes
I was recommended this anime by a friend of a friend. I am going, to be honest; I didn't know what I was getting into. This would be my first experience with isekai anime. Looking back on this anime, it is quite an anime. Not much action, but at a great story. I would not recommend watching after a 420 session, you will get the munchies.
 (7) Sword Art Online
Tumblr media
Written by Reki Kawahara
Genre/Subgenre= Isekai, Fantasy, Action, Adventure
Light Novel Original Run: April 10, 2009, to present
Anime original run:
Sword Art Online = July 8, 2012, to December 23, 2012
Sword Art Online II= July 5, 2014, to December 30, 2014
Sword Art Online Alicization = October 6, 2018, to present
And here we go again with another isekai. The genre in itself is pretty much the same across animes. Someone dies and is sent to another world, but Sword Art Online is different. Instead of dying and going to another world; our main character is trapped in a virtual world and if he dies there, he dies in the real world.
In general, I've been pretty hard on SAO because of its a little too real world for me. It deals with some very real-world issues. To give some examples: Death, rape, incest, and other issues. To top it all off, with it being 2019; we are only months away from when the anime begins. (Where is my damn nervegear?)
If you can get past all of that it's a decent anime. The first arc is by far the best. The second arc is OK and the third I haven't finished yet. Sword Art Online is a good anime for beginners, in my opinion. Plus, Sword Art Online always puts out a beyond great soundtrack.
 (6) The Saga of Tanya the Evil
Tumblr media
Written by Carlo Zen
Genre/subgenre: Isekai, fantasy
Manga Original run: April 26, 2016, to present
Anime original run: January 6, 2017, to March 31, 2017
12 Episodes
Here we are with the last isekai on our list. I understand that there have been quite a few listed, but besides the honorable mentions, there are no more. The Saga of Tanya the Evil is the perfect end of the isekai on this list.
Following the usual isekai tropes, Tanya the evil can best be described as a fantasy, historical alternative reality anime; taking place in a world similar to World War 1. As of this post, I'm only eight episodes in and quite enjoying it. I highly recommend checking it out.
 (5) Fairy Tail
Tumblr media
Written By Hiro Mashima
Genre/Subgenre: Shonen, Action, Adventure, Fantasy
Manga Original run: August 2, 2006, to July 26, 2017
Anime original Run: October 12, 2009, to Present
328 + episodes
It was around 7 years ago that a friend recommended fairy tail, to me. At the time, it wasn't my cup of tea. I was following Bleach, at the time, and hadn't leaped into the world of anime. Fast forward several years and it is still not my cup of tea. Now here is the thing, even though I may not be into fairy tail, ii know a good anime when I see it Given that fairy tail is entering its last full season; it a great choice for beginners and old alike. This is why I’m giving it the number 5 spot.
 (4) Attack on Titan
Tumblr media
Written by Hajime isayama
Genre/Subgenre: Dark fantasy, post-apocalyptic
Original manga run: September 9, 2009, to present
Original anime run: April 7, 2015, to present
Attack on Titan is one of those manga/animes that is a hit from day one. With a post-apocalyptic feel straight out of someone's worse nightmare. This isn't the zombie apocalypse folks; this is something far worse. The following that Attack on Titan has garnered is on par with American shows like The Walking Dead.
Along with the manga and anime, Attack on titan has spawned a live-action movie in 2015. In my opinion, the movie was just as gory and the anime, but a little toned down. If your a fan of post-apocalyptic shows like The Walking Dead, this is one that you have to check out.
A little piece of advice, do not watch the movie until you have seen the first season.
 (3) Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
Tumblr media
Written by Coolkyoushinja
Genre/Subgenre: fantasy
Manga original run: May 25, 2013 to present
Anime original run: January 11, 2017, to April 6, 2017
13 episodes plus OVA
If there was ever an anime that should be the official anime of this blog, this is it. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid has been one of my favorite animes that I've seen in recent years. This is not the usual action-pack thriller, that you'll usually see from animes that make there way west. It the cute and funny story of Miss Kobayashi and how she ended up with a dragon maid and the adventures that follow. I would recommend this to anyone, anime watcher or not.
 (2) Fullmetal Alchemist/ Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.
Tumblr media
Written by Hiroma Arakawa
Genre/Subgenre: Adventure, dark fantasy, science fiction, shonen
manga original run: July 12, 2001, to June 12, 2019
Anime original run:
( Fullmetal Alchemist) October 4, 2003, to October 2, 2004
51 episodes plus the movie Conqueror of Shamballa (2005)
( Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood) April 5, 2009, to July 4, 2010
64 episodes
Here we are at the number 2 spot. This was a toss-up for number one, but I decided against it. I would suggest watching Brotherhood because it follows the manga beginning to end. Fullmetal Alchemist ends at episode 51 and it is up the movie, Conqueror of Shamballa to bring an end to the story. I saw Conqueror of Shamballa and overall the movie was great. Well deserving of the praise it got from film festivals around the world. Do yourself a favor and check out this anime.
 (1) Dragon Ball /Z/GT/Super/Heroes
Tumblr media
Written by Akira Toriyama
Genre/Subgenre: Action, Adventure, martial arts, shonen
Manga Original run:
Dragonball= December 3, 1984, to June 5, 1995
Dragonball Super= June 20,2025 to present
 Anime original run:
Dragonball(1986 to 1989)
Dragonball Z( 1989 to 1996)
Dragonball GT( 1996 to 1997)
Dragonball Super( 2015 to 2018)
Super Dragonball Heroes(2018 to present)
And here we are at the number one spot. Come on, everyone should have seen this coming. Anime lovers and non-anime lovers have heard of the Dragonball series. While I was fighting for Fullmetal Alchemist to be in the number one spot; it wasn't going to happen. The Dragonball series is perfect for new anime viewers fro many reasons. One of the main reasons is if you get confused, there is plenty out there to help you understand what’s going on. The Dragonball series has been around in manga form since 1984 and anime form since 1986. There is plenty out there to help newbies and confused them, at the same time. Just don't watch the shitty American made live-action movie.
Honorable mentions: Konosuba, Ghost in A Shell, Food Wars and Naruto
Like always my friends, don't forget to like/share/reblog and follow. To get more of an idea of what's coming, you can follow me over on twitter at @socialyawkdude.

5/13/2020:
Trying to do IF again: ate 12:30-8:30 today (need to RESIST TEMPTATION FOR LATE NIGHT MUNCHIES)
BMR calculated as 1992 for women and 2393 for men, Fitbit she I burn closer to the male rate on a sedentary day so I’ll go with that...
Lose 1 lb = 3,500 calorie deficit, so to lose 1 lb a week I need to have a deficit of 500 calories a day, so eat 1,800-1,900 calories a day (this also isn’t factoring calories burned from exercise... since I don’t factor it in, non-sedentary days may get me closer to 2 lb a week lost)
https://www.ruled.me/keto-calculator/#bodyfat
Target macros:
1797 calories
139g fats
20g carbs
116g protein
Once COVID stuff is over I need to get bloodwork done for A1C, cholesterols, vitamins, etc. These keto candied citrus peel snacks I got I actually learned can help lower bad cholesterol, which is something I’ve been anxious about. :)
When I buy groceries next I’m gonna try to make my own keto bread and eat avocado toast and tuna sandwiches and dip in olive oil and those good fats will also help 🥰

#ManCrushMonday
I feel like all my life, I had a crush on someone. Well, from what I can remember since I was 6 years old. It was 1989.  I think the first time I saw him, he was performing on Showtime at the Apollo and I couldn’t take my eyes off him.  He had high energy, he could rap, and he could dance his ass off! MC Hammer.  The swag was impeccable with the bigger than life pants and at that very inappropriate age of 6, I couldn’t help put stare at his muscular chest. He was always shirtless and my virgin eyes would fixate on the beads of sweat dripping off it. It wasn’t a sexual crush that I had on him then, hell, I didn’t know I even had a vagina. It was something about that testosterone that caught my estrogen’s attention, and he was so unique.  MC Hammer fascinated me. At the same time, I was also fascinated by the rap duo, Salt n Pepa, but it was something about MC Hammer.......
It was official; I was crushing on boys, well, in this case a grown ass man.
MC Hammer dominated the early 90s.  He was on a plethora of television commercials, he had a cartoon that aired on Saturday mornings and he was staring in multiple movies. I was in MC Hammer Heaven from 6 – 9 years old.  It’s 1992 and one night I see three cuties singing about “Da Munchies” on the BET channel. When I set eyes on Immature also known as IMx, it was a wrap for Hammer. He drifted far away in those balloon pants to a land unknown from then on out. Similar to how my current dating life is like, but that’s a whole other blog I can’t even get into right now lol. This boy band literally consumed my mind and I found myself constantly singing love songs like I had been cheated on for the 25th time by a raggedy 5th grader. Each member in this trio was very different and I had my eyes set on the “bad boy” Romeo. He was the rapper of the crew and the eye patch he wore over his right eye was mysterious.  Just like Hammer, he was unique in his own right and this crush lasted for the next 3 years.
It is now 1995 and I had mentally cheated on Romeo with numerous members of young boy bands in my innocent mind.  Jordan from New Kids on the Block, Ronnie Devoe from New Edition, Red from Another Bad Creation, and even the guy with the light eyes in Milli Vanilli…..I was swapping out these crushes like drawers.  Middle School created an obsessive with Layzie Bone from the popular rap group Bone Thugs n Harmony. It wasn’t until I saw the music video, “Thuggish Ruggish Bone” that I attempted to understand every fast spitting word they said. I equally loved them all, sometimes rotating which member I liked more with each performance, each music video, each magazine spread. If you knew me back in High School, you knew! My adolescent bedroom became a shrine. My parents questioned what the hell was going on and couldn’t understand why I liked these “Thugs.” The crush I had on Layzie Bone became so embedded in my mind that I created a married life with him and 3 kids. My best friend and I just knew we were going to graduate high school, move to Cleveland and have this life! These plans were made at 13 years old.  No offense, but there’s no way in hell I’d move to Cleveland now lol.
The solid crush on Bone Thugs n Harmony lasted until well after college. Finally, I started to really date and the crushes became boyfriends. The boyfriend became a husband. The husband became an ex husband. Now here I am, it’s 2019 and I’m knocking at 40’s door.  With the take off of social media, you can see the love across the multiple platforms with the hashtag, “ManCrushMonday also known as #MCM.” It’s the social media trend to post pictures and express your affection for your crush on a Monday. Like clockwork, each Monday, I was reminded of everyone’s crush on my timeline. About 90% of them were of their significant other.  I started questioning myself, “Who is your crush, Eb?”  Looking back, I had never posted a real life #MCM. I was pretty private with my love life, but honestly to get the #MCM post, you had to give me the same feeling I felt when I saw hot fish come out of grease. I wasn’t feeling that with no one. There wasn’t a connection.  Would I ever have a #MCM? Shit was depressing. So, I thought back on how my crushes started as a young girl. Never were they truly someone I went to school with, dated, or even personally knew.   They were all celebrities.
To get my #MCM started, I began my Mondays with some eye candy.   A different celebrity graced my page. I didn’t know a damn thing about their personal life. They could have been a real life asshole for all I knew.  They were all finer than frog hair though.  Rappers Dave East and Nas, and actor Kofi Siriboe were all exposed on my page. Each week, I fantasized for a brief moment about my celebrity #MCMs and chuckled to myself how they didn’t even know my black ass existed. One Monday, my routine was abruptly disrupted.  I thought about posting singer, Trey Songz. I had actually met him in a club years ago and conversed with him. I remember him being as fine as his pictures online and the short conversation sent me floating on cloud 99.  I scrolled his Instagram and said to myself, “Bih, Trey don’t know you!”   I quickly put my phone down and found myself so deep in thought. “Who does know you, Eb?”
As I sat back and analyzed the consistent men in my life, one stuck out the most. My brother.  He was there through all the youthful crushes. At the tender age of 1, my brother was there for MC Hammer. He was 4 when I fell in love with Immature. At 8, he didn’t realize it but I was mentally married to a thug.  He was always there, and he always had my back. Being five years apart, we never went to school together but the neighborhood knew I was his sister and he was my brother. Now, here we are…I’m in a mid life crisis and he’s in his prime. At 31 years old, he never was the over protective brother. He gave me just enough space and opportunity to do me. He would be vocal if necessary and I appreciated that. Sometimes the big sister had to let little brother be big brother and there were times he had to counsel me.
He’s my #MCM! Sometimes we single people get caught up in the hype of a fantasy. I’ve been in that hype majority of my life. Loving celebrities who don’t even care about your existence, and ignoring those who do. I want to dedicate my #ManCrushMonday to my brother, Weedee. If I told you his government name I’d have to kill you. He was my Weedee before any of you knew him. I watched him love me from a little brother’s point of view and be there for me when the crushes were nothing but a memory. He’s a stand up guy and if my crush is not even 10% of what he is made of, I am not interested. I challenge all single ladies who participate in weekly #MCMs to utilize your platform and shout out your loved one who is a male that has been CONSISTENT.  Many confuse a crush with someone who you have to date or be sexually involved with. No, a crush is someone who you can be intensely infatuated with, without it having to be inappropriate.
I salute you Weedee. Thank you for looking out for me when literally there has been no one I could turn to.  Having a crush on someone is fine and all, but having a real life bond for eternity with someone you respect and admire with the same DNA is incomparable.  No crush compares to my brother.

MST3K Season 13: All The Movies, Details, and Release Date
https://ift.tt/3xvGq46
Mystery Science Theater 3000’s Turkey Day isn’t just an annual marathon of classic episodes to sit back and watch on Thanksgiving. Depending on the timing, fans watch it hoping to see some kind of news. In this era when MST3K’s always in flux, viewers have their fingers crossed that we’re going to see some kind of look into the future of the franchise. Luckily, Turkey Day 2021 gave us plenty to sink our teeth into.
To get us back up to speed, after years of being off TV, a Kickstarter campaign started up in 2015 and successfully brought MST3K back for an eleventh season on Netflix for 2017. It ran for fourteen episodes and while the new cast needed some time to figure themselves out, it had plenty of high notes. Then things seemed to wither before it had a chance to soar.
The twelfth season hit in 2018 with a mere six episodes, each cut shorter than your usual MST3K episode. Netflix quietly cancelled the show, with part of the agreement being that creator Joel Hodgson had to wait at least three years before finding a new home for the show. A series of live tours helped keep the brand active, but COVID threw a bit of a wrench into that.
Thankfully, another successful Kickstarter will bring us another season and a new home for the show. This time, we’re getting thirteen episodes on Gizmoplex, an upcoming streaming service for checking out MST3K stuff with a little RiffTrax material thrown in for good measure. While some episodes will feature Jonah Heston (Jonah Ray) with his versions of Crow and Tom Servo (Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn), other episodes will feature the live tour’s Emily Connor (Emily Marsh) and her versions of Crow and Tom Servo (Nate Begle and Conor McGiffin).
What Movies Will be on MST3K Season 13?
Throughout Turkey Day 2021, short 30-second trailers were scattered, revealing all thirteen movies.
Experiment 1301: Santo in the Treasure of Dracula (1969)
MST3K has been sadly light on luchador superhero movies. We hadn’t seen any of these babies since TV’s Frank left back in the sixth season with Samson and the Vampire Women. Much like that classic, this stars legendary Mexican wrestler El Santo as himself, albeit a more fantastic version. Like in the sense that he had built a time machine that allows people to experience past lives. The woman who he uses for this experiment is the reincarnation of one of Dracula’s victims and this leads to the luchador and the King of Vampires throwing down.
Experiment 1302: Robot Wars (1993)
Advertised as a thematic sequel to Robot Jox, Robot Wars brings a similar style of post-apocalyptic robot-fighting action. This Full Moon Entertainment release features giant robots battling it out with stop motion that somehow makes it look incredibly rad and incredibly cheesy at the same time. At least it looks better than whatever was going on in Atlantic Rim.
Experiment 1303: Beyond Atlantis (1973)
In what was supposed to be a pure exploitation film until the studio decided to make it more family-friendly in hopes of a wider audience (ie. have the women wear tops), Beyond Atlantis has a pretty simple setup. A group of adventurers, including one played by Sid Haig, are out to rob an island of some hidden treasure. They bite off more than they can chew once they discover that the natives are half-fish! And not in the usual mermaid way, but in the sense that they all have weird piranha eyes. It’s creepy.
Experiment 1304: Munchie (1992)
Munchie is actually the second part of a trilogy, sandwiched in-between Munchies and Munchie Strikes Back. Born out of the attempts to capitalize on the success of Gremlins, we somehow end up with this terrible family comedy starring a greaser rodent puppet with the voice of Dom DeLuise. Munchie tries to use his magic powers to help a loser kid get revenge on his bullies and catch the attention of a very young Jennifer Love Hewitt in her film debut.
Months back, I interviewed Joel Hodgson and he mentioned how season 13 will feature the “new Manos.” I have to imagine he’s talking about Munchie. Word from those who wrote the episode is that it nearly broke them.
Experiment 1305: Doctor Mordrid (1992)
We have another Full Moon release and this one is sort of awesome on its own. Granted, the MST3K treatment is welcome, but you can totally watch this on your own and enjoy it. As the story goes, Full Moon was going to make a Doctor Strange movie, but due to some complications, they lost the license. Hence, B-movie royalty Jeffrey Combs plays Dr. Anton Mordrid, the ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL of the Mystic Arts.
Experiment 1306: Demon Squad (2019)
Once again, the record for most recent movie on an episode of MST3K is broken. Demon Squad is about a “paranormal investigator” who is trying to solve a crime while dealing with all sorts of otherworldly folk. It sort of comes off as an inexperienced filmmaker’s attempt to make a noir mystery with the cast of Nightbreed and a ten dollar budget. It looks rough, but seems to have some heart in its attempt.
Experiment 1307: Gamera vs. Jiger (1970)
Back in the Joel era, MST3K cut through the original Gamera movies like a knife through butter. A couple of the movies never got the treatment, so here we are. As Japan puts together Expo ’70, they accidentally unleash a new kaiju threat in Jiger. Gamera not only gets his ass kicked by the beast, but he’s also infected by Jiger’s offspring. The only thing that can save the world now is the children and their love for Gamera. That’s usually how these things work.

Experiment 1308: The Batwoman (1968)
What happens when you take an El Santo movie and replace him with a woman who just bought a Sexy Adam West Halloween costume at Party City? This very, very unauthorized mess from Italy. The Batwoman (no, not that one) is a scantily-clad professional wrestler who lives the high life and has to stop a mad scientist and his ridiculous lobster monster from taking over the world. Said mad scientist owns a boat called “Reptilicus,” so I’m looking forward to the callback jokes there.
Experiment 1309: The Million Eyes of Sumuru (1967)
Ah, so this is interesting. The Million Eyes of Sumuru has not only been featured on RiffTrax (along with its sequel The Girl From Rio), but it was also part of the KTMA-TV “season 0” of MST3K. The movie deals with Sumuru, a terrorist leader of a sect of ass-kicking supermodel assassins. Their plan is to have women conquer the world, a plot that can only be stopped by one Frankie Avalon. I can’t believe it took them thirty years before revisiting this gem.
Experiment 1310: HG Wells’ The Shape of Things to Come (1979)
Despite its title, this movie has very, very, VERY little to do with the book of the same name. Instead, it’s Jack Palance starring in a movie trying to capitalize on the success of Star Wars, only succeeding in giving us a sci-fi mess. There is some effort mixed in there, but the whole thing is just a dreadful attempt to ape a popular brand. At least the robots are sort of cool, if clunky.
Experiment 1311: The Mask 3D (1961)
No, it’s not about the wacky green vigilante or the ugly redhead. Instead, The Mask 3D is about a psychiatrist who tries on a mystical tribal mask and trips out on it. He becomes addicted to wearing it and his surreal visions, even though it turns him into a violent psychopath. Huh, maybe it’s not too far from the comic character after all. Anyway, this will be the first Halloween-based episode of MST3K and the only black-and-white entry for this season.
Experiment 1312: The Bubble (1966)
Feeling like a full-length Twilight Zone episode, a married couple’s vacation goes awry when they end up in a village full of people acting strangely. Soon they realize that not only is there a glass dome around the village, but aliens appear to have taken over. Yeah, that twist is a lot more obvious in the retitled version called Fantastic Invasion of Planet Earth. Though that version of the movie is nearly two hours long, so maybe it’s better that we just get The Bubble instead.
Experiment 1313: The Christmas Dragon (2014)
Father Christmas is dying because something something magic and the only ones who can save him and save Christmas itself are a ragtag team of medieval orphans and their newly-discovered pet dragon. Like many pieces of modern crap you’d see riffed, this movie uses a LOT of digital effects, high quality masks, and an excessive amount of scenes shot in the forest. Apparently, this episode will feature Jonah, Emily, AND Joel riffing together.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
MST3K Season 13 Release Date
As revealed at the very end of the 12 hour+ Turkey Day marathon, MST3K’s thirteenth season will begin on March 4, 2022. Considering the last episode announced is a Christmas-themed one, it’s likely that all thirteen episodes will pop up over the course of 2022, but Joel has let it be known that they aren’t doing one big binge-ready dump. The episodes will arrive when they’re ready.
In addition to the thirteen episodes, there will also be monthly live events on Gizmoplex. No real details on what those will entail. We’ll also get twelve shorts! Man, I missed those.
Check out some quick trailers for each movie as well as information on Gizmoplex here.
