Caregiver Edward Magorium Headcanons (Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium)
He loves music, and he is constantly humming and making up songs for (and about) you. 🎶 “Oh, my friend is helping me in the stooore!”🎵
Mr. Magirium can invent anything you can imagine, and a fair few things you can’t. A machine that readies you for bed and then rocks you to sleep; a one-piece garment that wraps you in your ideal version of a hug; a plate designed so perfectly that no matter how you tilt it or move your fork, the peas and corn will never mix together. He loves creating new things for you, and watching your eyes light up.
Expanding on that: he gives you the greatest playroom anyone could ask for. He’s an expert at reading people, and whatever your absolute ideal playroom would be is what he provides - with, of course, plenty of magical surprises.
For as much time as he spends with children, Mr. Magorium tends to use very complex and uncommon words. If you ever get confused by one of the words he uses, he’ll pull out his pocket dictionary and show you the definition. He’s never condescending about it; he just thinks human communication is amazing and loves having the chance to share this interest with you.
He is great at helping you regress. As old as he in, Mr. Magorium can still think about things with a child’s sense of reasoning. If you’re struggling to regress, he’ll start a conversation with you about hot dogs or cats or the many uses of tape. He’ll talk about it with his particular kind of logic, and before you know it, you’ll be seeing things in a more childish way.
He loves mischief, as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone. Whether you’re hiding his pens or putting whipped cream inside his shoes, he’ll always laugh about it; and the stranger the trick, the better.
Mr. Magorium folds the best paper airplanes in the world, and he’s always ready to make you one. In the evenings, when the store is closed and quiet, he’ll pull out his favorite airplane and let you chase it around.
He makes very strange combinations of foods - turnip pudding, salami waffles, chocolate-covered cheese… Most of these combinations are gross, and you’ll both spend several minutes gagging and laughing over his concoctions. Every once in a while, though, he’ll present you with something that catches you off guard; something that sounds disgusting yet turned out absolutely delicious. He’ll always take the opportunity to remind you that something can be more than what it seems.
You’re always allowed to play with Mortimer… but “playing” usually consists of watching him eat. Well, you can pet him, anyway.
Mr. Magorium starts nearly every important discussion by complimenting you. He loves you and he knows how incredible you are, and he will take every opportunity to help you see your true value.
