Book Search

I’m looking for a book for my mother. She read it when she was a little girl in the 1980s, and it belonged to her mother, so it’s likely from the early 1900s. The main character’s name is Trudy, and Trudy falls in love with a farmhand on her family’s farm. It’s a forbidden romance. Unfortunately, the boy contracts lock jaw from an infection/illness/injury of some sort and dies at the end.

I’d really love to find this book for my mom. She describes it as a beautifully tragic story. If anyone has any clue to what the name of this book could be and, even better, where I might be able to find it, I’d much appreciate it!
