Too Soon for Adiós by Annette Chavez Macias - Book Review
Tumblr media
From author Annette Chavez Macias comes a heartfelt novel about a woman who embarks on an emotional journey when she meets her biological father on the day of her mother’s funeral.
No one expects to meet their father at their mother’s funeral. But for Gabby Medina, that’s exactly what happens. Her dad abandoned her when she was a baby, and now he’s back.
And he wants to give her a house.
Gabby doesn’t want the house—or him. But she could use the money. So Gabby agrees to take it under two conditions: First, she can sell the house whenever she wants. Second, accepting it doesn’t mean she accepts him.
After they strike a deal, Gabby hires a contractor in preparation for a quick sale. But as she gets to know the town and these two new men in her life, she learns more about herself than she ever dared to think possible.
But is she ready to open herself up to the truth of what happened—and the promise of what could be?
Too Soon for Adiós by Annette Chavez Macias

My rating 4 of 5 stars
At some point the author mentioned Hallmark movies and that is exactly where my mind stayed for the rest of the book.
It has practically all the trademarks of a Hallmark movie: troubled woman getting away from the big city for some reason or another, small town, attractive handyman who makes a terrible first impression (albeit this one wears a baseball hat instead of flannel), characters "finding" themselves, falling in love, happily ever after's for all involved.
But even with its cookie cutter dynamic it's still its own story with a much deeper emotional level that will take readers on a journey of grieving, healing and finding a new path.

REVIEW
Spiced Right by Gigi Templeton
Spicy second chance romance that sees two people perfect for one another finally get their happily ever after ~ Thoroughly enjoyed this book!
What I liked: * Jack Reed: rancher, cowboy, pitmaster, charismatic, caring, responsible, loves his family, athletic dreams thwarted, has never forgotten…Jillian
* Jillian Parks: creative, entrepreneur, cookbook author, grows hybrid peppers in her own greenhouses, survivor, has never forgotten…Jack
* The producers of the shows Jack and Jillian run independently and their idea to have the collaborate – wonder I they might get together in the future
* The sensitivity, patience, and understanding Jack showed with Jillian as he learned what had happened since they were last together
* The strong family ties Jack’s family have for one another – would love to learn more about all of the singletons that have not met their matches
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* That I liked all the characters, could relate to them, and felt I would it in with the group if I were to drop in on them
* The recipes discussed that made me drool
* The chemistry and witty repartee between Jack and Jillian
* All of it really except…
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about all that Jillian had to deal with and the impact it had on her life – including her faithless fiancé
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author/in this series? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4-5 Stars
BLURB
Jillian Parks doesn’t need her hybrid scorpion pepper to set her pulse racing. Wildly charismatic rancher Jack Reed does that all on his own in this scorcher from Gigi Templeton. Don’t ever think I didn’t want more time with you, darlin’. Those were her college boyfriend’s last words to her after a phone call summoned him home to Texas. In the ten years since, Jack Reed has taken over his family’s ranch, and Jillian Parks has experienced devastating losses with traumatic repercussions. Now a reclusive insomniac, she podcasts about the specialty hybrid chili peppers she grows in her Seattle greenhouse, keeping a closed door between her and the past. But when Jillian’s producer coaxes her to make a surprise call in to Jack’s YouTube BBQ channel, their chemistry still sizzles! An invite to the ranch for a follow-up collab is a scary proposal for Jillian. But forward movement is key to her recovery, and it’s time to take the bull by the horns. With Jack’s commanding yet soothing presence, maybe this charismatic cowboy is just the right ingredient to help her heal—while adding a different kind of spice to her life.

Description
True love requires a little research and development in a funny, heart-racing romance by Sariah Wilson, the bestselling author of The Paid Bridesmaid.
How can Anna Ellis, a geeky, brilliant, and hopelessly smitten cosmetic chemist possibly win over Craig Kimball, the man of her dreams—who also happens to be her boss? The answer is Craig’s empathetic (and handsome) CEO half brother, Marco. The makeup mogul knows Craig for the ridiculously competitive rival he is. Whatever Marco has, Craig wants. That can be Anna, if she’s game to play.
All Anna and Marco have to do is pretend they’re falling in love and let the rumors begin. If the experiment in attraction works, a jealous Craig will swoop in and give Anna her happily ever after—if it weren’t for one hitch in the plan. There’s more to Marco than meets the eye. With every fake date, Anna’s feelings are starting to become dizzyingly real.
Blame it on chemistry. It’s unpredictable, exciting, and occasionally combustible. If Anna and Marco are really falling in love, who are they to argue with science?
My Review
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A funny, laugh out loud, swoony romance! Full of quirky, witty banter with science references, and Star Wars and sizzling chemistry.
Anna Ellis is very intelligent, she works in research and development branch of Minx cosmetics. She had fallen in love with the Vice President of Minx, Craig Kimball. And although she sees him as kind, funny, and charming he is nothing like that at all. It takes her quitting her job and going to the company party for her to see the real Craig. A man who is already engaged to his brothers ex-girlfriend. Devastated she ends up in the men’s bathroom, where Marco Kimball the CEO of the company finds her.
Marco is completely different than his brother. Nerdy, hot and very muscular. He takes Anna out to lunch the next day and not only hires her as a consultant but comes up with an idea for them to fake date. Since Craig has always wanted what Marco has if they are dating he will want Anna and will break up with his fiancé. But as these two go out on more dates… the more the lines blur from fake dating to feelings of more. Their kisses between them are arousing new feelings but will it be enough?
You do not want to miss this fantastic new romance. This is for all you hopeless romantics out there! Go! Get your copy today!!!!

“He runs from the altar—and finds love in the place he least expects.” RUNAWAY GROOMSMAN, a brand new, heartfelt romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author @MeghanQuinnAuthor about new beginnings and finding the romanticized happily ever after in the most unlikely of places, is Now Available in all formats! Amazon US: https://amzn.to/3eiOtfA Universal: https://mybook.to/RunawayGroomsman Blurb: Hollywood screenwriter Sawyer Walsh knows a good love story when he sees it. But when it comes to real life romance, he’s a mess. That’s how he finds himself standing at the altar…as his ex-girlfriend ties the knot with his very famous best friend. The pressure, the resentment, the media coverage—it’s all too much—and before he knows exactly what he’s doing, he’s making a run for it, leaving a shocked congregation and flashing cameras in his wake.
Needing to lie low amid the media fallout, Sawyer lands in the charming town of Canoodle, California, where he crosses paths with Fallon Long, who runs the Canoodle Cove Cabins, a family-owned business and Sawyer’s new short-term residence. Overwhelmed with renovations and her long list of responsibilities, Fallon is struggling to make ends meet while attempting to bring the cabins back to their original glory. So when Sawyer arrives, she is grateful for the income, but immediately writes him off as just another vapid Hollywood hack, until he begins to prove her wrong at every turn.
As Fallon comes closer to saving the family business, an undeniable bond forms between her and the handsome screenwriter. But the pressures of her family obligations and Sawyer’s notoriety might prove to be too much for anyone to handle. Could Canoodle be the setting for a new romance—or is true love just a Hollywood cliché? @candikanepr
