Family zoo trip (Elden Ring modern au edition)

It's a miracle the whole family was able to gather together for the trip.

They all have different, and conflicting schedules. Plus most don't want to interact with the different sides of the family.

Convincing Stage

Radagon was the one to initially suggest the idea of a family get together. He felt that it was to at least try and reconnect the family.

He asked his twins on suggestions for a location. Miquella was very eager to go to the zoo, and Malenia supported his suggestion.

Once the location was set, he reached out to the family

Marika was eager to go along with it. She'd have to set aside time off from work, but she'd do it.

Upon realizing her first twins were to be invited, however, she suddenly became more reluctant.

The carian side of the family straight up left Radagon on read.

Surprisingly, Godwyn was also against the idea, but instead politely declined.

Radagon was determined tho. He wasn't going to accept the majority of the family not going.

So he hesitantly reached out to Godfrey. If he can convince Godfrey, then he can at least convince Radahn. Which he hoped would at least convince the rest of the carian side.

To the surprise of no one, he was left on read.

So he attempted on reaching out to Nepheli.

Her initial response was no, but she decided to inquire why. Upon hearing his sincere want to reconnect the family, over a call, she changed her mind. Nepheli told Radagon that she'd try to convince her father, but made no promises

By a miracle of the gods, Godfrey reached out to Radagon with both a warning about contacting his daughter to get to him, but also a proposal.

Godfrey would agree to the arrangement, on the conditions that Nepheli, and (unfortunately) Gideon are invited. Plus also a formal sincere apology from Marika to Morgott, and Mohg

Smol author note since as of writing this, I've not yet talked about Godfrey lol, plus also the relationship between Marika, and the omen twins in this au

So in the modern au, Marika abandoned the twins for being born omens, plus also elden beast pet did not approve. Once Godfrey found out tho, he immediately divorced her, and takes im the omen twins.

He later goes on to adopt Nepheli. She later goes on to meet Gideon at some point, who she goes to greatly respect, and refers to him as her second father. She's currently around 19 or 20ish.

ANYWAY

Radagon agrees to the conditions, and spends the rest of the day rehearsing exactly how to go about convincing the most stubborn women he's ever known, who's also prolly never apologized not even once in her life.

It takes way to long to convince Marika. At least a few weeks, but Radagon is nothing if not determined. He genuinely wants his family on better terms, not only for himself, but to clear the tension as well. And allow them to be an actual family.

Once Marika agrees, Godfrey arranges a date for the apology. Of course all this is arranged with the omen twins consent, both agreed for different reasons.

Morgott is willing to forgive, and give her a chance should he determine her worthy of one.

Mohg just wants to let out his pent up emotions about her, and roast the shit out of her.

Marika initially only agreed, because 1) Radagon would not stop pestering her about it, and 2) Miquella would also not stop pestering her about going to the zoo with the whole family.

But when she finally saw her twins for the first time in forever. She could feel her insides twist in regret, and longing.

She let the twins ask her questions, and berate her (cough Mohg). She took it all, and answered their questions.

In the end, she found herself sincerely apologizing, much to the surprise of everyone involved. Not only that, but she offered that if they needed her for anything, they could ask.

Both omen twins were suspicious of her intentions. Morgott decided to give her a chance, but not quite forgiving her until she showed actual proof of backing up her apology. Mohg wasn't having any of it, but the look his twin gave him shut him up for now.

Godfrey was surprised ™. He never believed that Marika was capable of apologizing.

As promised, he talked to Radahn. The mega fan boy agreed immediately. Radahn was not giving up the chance to hang out with his hero, even if it meant straining his eyes to look at his father.

Radahn ended up convincing Rykard to come along. Who then convinced Ranni to come along, who only agreed cause she wished to watch the chaos that was bound to unfold.

Rykard naturally invited his girlfriend, Tanith. He needs someone to keep him sane. Between his over excited brother, and dealing with his father, he needs Tanith with him.

Naturally, Blaidd and Ranni go everywhere together.

The carian crew refused to bother their mother. They didn't wish to torment her by making her interact with her ex. They promised to bring souvenirs from the zoo for her tho.

Now the next challenge layed ahead of Radagon. While Godfrey was convincing Radahn, he had been trying to convince Godwyn, and the omen twins. Which ended up being a lot harder than he thought.

Godwyn, like Godfrey, cut off ties with Marika completely. Although a forgiving and kind man, Godwyn never forgave Marika for abandoning the omen twins, among other things.

Radagon found out for himself how cold Godwyn could be. Although he was polite with Radagon, as he had nothing specific against him, his cold demeanor and determination to stay away from Marika was pretty great.

Radagon realized the only way this would work is if he can convince Morgott, and Mohg.

So he contacted the pair, asking to meet them, and chat.

Their meetup went better than expected.

Morgott was already interested in meeting the rest of the family, so he was easier to convince. And he sensed Radagon sincerity, so he agreed only if Mohg was comfortable to go.

Mohg really wants nothing to do with the rest of his family. He's happy with just Morgott, Godwyn, Godfrey, and Nepheli as his only family.

BUT he can tell his twin is interested in meeting everyone else, so he agrees.

Once Godwyn hears of the twins willingness to go, he agrees to come along to watch out for them.

Now with the whole family ready to go, time for family trip to the zoo

At The Zoo

Once they found a date that worked with everyone, they all set out to the zoo.

By the gods were they the center of attention. Not only are they a large group, they stand out.

Full group count: Radagon, Marika, Maliketh, Malenia, Finlay, Miquella, Radahn, Rykard, Tanith, Ranni, Blaidd, Godfrey (and Serosh), Nepheli, Gideon, Godwyn, Fortissax (human form), Lansseax (human form), Morgott, all ten of the night cavalry, Mohg, Varré

A huge group, that would've included Leonard if the zoo allowed it.

Radagon did not account for extra invites, but welcomed it. He wasn't about to be picky, especially with how hard this was to arrange.

Morgott did not intend for the night cavalry to join. He had mentioned to his college study group that he was going to the zoo with the rest of his family, and how he was nervous to meet them; he was afraid they'd reject him.

The night cavalry asked if they could come along to support him. To which he replied that they didn't have to if they really didn't want to.

So naturally, they all showed up.

Godwyn invited his lover, Fortissax. Who then invited it's sister, Lansseax.

Mohg invited his crush, and best friend, Varré. In fear of going insane without him.

Naturally, Maliketh goes pretty much everywhere with Marika.

Radagon had previously insisted on paying for everything, including tickets, food, and whatever other expenses arose.

He found himself regretting the decision, but would still stand by it

At first everyone stuck with who they knew.

But slowly they merged.

Starting with the mega fanboy, Radahn. Once he felt courageous enough, he approached Godfrey. The pair got into conversation.

Rykard stuck by his brothers side, with Tanith by his side. The pair ended up talking with Mohg, and Varré.

Ranni, and Blaidd stuck together away from everyone else. However the Half-Wolf stole curious glances at Maliketh.

Miquella was beyond excited to meet everyone, but found himself not knowing how to approach anyone, so he stuck by his sisters side.

Malenia decided to invite her close friend Finlay, both to hang out with her, and to help Miquella have a good time.

Marika was the most distant of the group, she found herself unwilling to mingle with her family. She honestly just wanted a quiet day to herself.

Maliketh stayed close to Marika, but it was clear she didn't want him near her either. So he followed at a comfortable distance, occasionally keeping an eye out for Malenia, and Miquella.

Radagon is the only reason the family stayed in close proximity. He readily encouraged everyone to stay close, and brought up exhibits to everyone's attention to look and talk about.

Which sparked discussions among the whole group about the animal in question. Everyone, besides Nepheli, actively ignored Gideon.

There was a particular animal, the pygmy hippo, that had it's enclosure below ground level. Making it difficult for Miquella to see inside. Radagon gestured to Radahn, and encouraged his son to ask him for help.

Miquella trotted over to Radahn, and sweetly asked if he could carry him for a bit so he could see the hippos.

Radahn was initially conflicted, but he found himself unable to resist Miquella's cute innocent charm. So he had his little half brother sitting comfortably on his shoulder.

Radahn ended up not putting him down for the rest of the visit, he grew attached to Miquella, who'd ramble all the information he'd gather before hand about every animal they saw.

Radahn was especially interested in all the horse shapes animals. He listened more closely to what Miquella had to say about them.

Godfrey also took a shine to Miquella, and included him in their discussion.

Malenia stayed close behind the trio. She, and Finlay conversing, and keeping an eye on Miquella like before.

Rykard, and Mohg ended up in long philosophical discussions, completely ignoring the exhibits around them.

Tanith, occasionally pulled the pair out of their own world, to enjoy the sights around them, but generally let them be.

Varré would listen in on the discussion, occasionally putting his own two cents in. He would pull Mohg's attention when he saw something that caught his eye. Not because he was jealous of not having Mohg's focused on him alone.

Varré was content, at least. Mohg was definitely having a better time than he imagined. If Mohg is happy, he's happy.

Morgott stayed close to his twin, and father initially, but grew weary of their discussions

He wanted to enjoy the zoo, not just talk. Not that he was able, he found himself too nervous to butt into anyone's conversations anyways.

Fortunately, his cavalry was eager to make sure Morgott was having a good time. They'd help locate every animal on each exhibit, they'd take him through some of the quieter nature trails, they made sure he stayed fed, and bought him ice cream (with the allowance that Radagon gave out to everyone).

Morgott appreciated their efforts, and genuinely enjoyed spending time with his friends.

Eventually, once the cavalry became a little too overwhelming, he broke off to spend alone time.

He ended up bumping into Ranni, and Blaidd.

Blaidd was eager to introduce himself, and Ranni to Morgott. The trio talked here, and there, but mainly enjoyed the silence.

Godwyn stayed near his little brothers, but far enough away to not intrude. His main focus was their safety.

Fortissax, however, had other plans. The dragon made it it's mission to spend time with its boyfriend, and let him unwind.

Lansseax did her own thing for most of the visit, her sibling only really inviting her out of impulse (she held no offense to that of course, she was surprised it even invited her to begin with).

At some point towards the end of the trip, she ended up conversing with Tanith.

Throughout the trip Radagon would try to push Marika into interacting with literally anyone, but quickly found no one wanted to talk with her.

Morgott did for a while, but went back to enjoying silence with Ranni.

Blaidd had strayed for a while to talk with Maliketh.

The pair got along for the most part. They talked mostly about either shadow related discussions, or fur care.

Eventually Blaidd wandered back to Ranni once he was satisfied, and found he had little in common with Maliketh. He enjoyed their talk, regardless.

Through most of the visit, Nepheli mostly kept to herself. She'd occasionally join Radahn, and Godfrey's discussions.

She'd listen to everything Gideon would say about the animals they passed. She'd also help the old man when he got too tired.

By the end of the visit, many had exchanged numbers with eachother, eager to stay in touch.

Radagon was very proud, and happy that it turned out so well. He's a little disappointed in himself when he realized that he spent so much time trying to keep everyone together, that he didn't get a chance to talk with his carian children. He remained hopeful, at least, tgat the chance would arise again.

He went to go exit the zoo with his family, when he realized that said family wasn't present. His heart, and wallet, sank when he saw they all, including Marika, flooded to the gift shop.

He made mental note to put off personal spending for at least a few months.

Radagon made sure, however, that everyone left with at least one item from the gift shop.

Marika - the exit The Sumatran Tiger.

Maliketh - The African Painted Dog.

Malenia - The Gray Fox.

Finlay - The Dhole.

Miquella - All the bug displays. The tarantula being his favorite.

Radahn - The Okapi.

Rykard - The Anaconda.

Tanith - The Eyelash Viper.

Ranni - The Clouded Leopard.

Blaidd - The Giant River Otter.

Godfrey - The Lion.

Nepheli - The White Cheeked Gibbon.

Gideon - The Burrowing Owls.

Godwyn - The Asian Elephant, and the aquarium.

Fortissax - The Greater One-Horned Rhino.

Lansseax - The Serval.

Morgott - The Spotted Hyena.

The Night Cavalry - The Bat.

Mohg - The Raccoon.

Varré - The Meerkats.
