Eden; The Eternal Return

It's the first time I attempt something like this, but . . I have always wondered if the Elders ever felt any sort of guilt regarding what Sky kids would have to endure, in order to bring Light back to the Kingdom. It is my personal headcanon that Mekh sees this as some sort of eternal curse, and that the world is somehow bound to this endless cycle. . . Because, the Storm is still raging, and not one has been able to put an end to it.

Me again, hi. I've returned to you with a drawing question. I love the Elders in your style, especially Teth! Have you considered drawing each one with and without their masks+full-bodied, or have you done that already?

I keep forgetting to post a response to this ask!

Anyways, this is a screencap of the height reference sheet I made and have been using for the elders whenever I doodled them..

This is an old drawing but pretty sure the Elders’ heights are accurate here (except Alef… I honestly don’t remember my Alef being that short lol)

"A weight off their chest"

Recently I had the greatest honor of participating in the fan sky anthology, "Like light through the Prism", hosted by the wonderful @vela-pulsars.

The anthology was created for Sky's Days of Color and Pride month, with talented sky artists and writers coming together to create a breathtaking collection of queer-themed creations, that was given out to people who donated to the Amnesty International charity.

With the distribution of the anthology closed, I am proud to finally present my own work for this lovely project, drawn using the prompt of the color yellow, one of the colors in the pride flag.

HC that all of the Elders have a few/tons of scars that were gained while in the process of becoming an Elder (which is a whole other HC) and the scars even provide some ironic similarities to that of their deaths/after deaths. The scars for some of them also influenced the design of their mask, like the Valley Elders can’t see out of their scarred eye so why even have an eye for that anyway?

Welcome to the Sky: Children of the Light resident fanblog! I'm your host, Aite!

Meet the Skids!

Isveu

Born a natural leader with extraordinary courage, Isveu is a model Sky Child. She is willing to step up to bat and do what's right, no matter who it upsets.

Hekale

Isveu's best friend. She's rather reserved, but has boundless compassion for everyone around her. Despite this, the one thing she won't tolerate is blatant disrespect.

Jariwo

A laid-back fellow who has a strange habit of calling everyone 'dude'. The Hidden Forest is his home away from home, and he seems to understand jellyfish better than his kin.

Cuxezaw*

A little guy with big goals. He is rather protective of Isveu, despite being much 'younger' than her. He aspires to be a lion when he grows up, despite his mask actually depicting a tiger (don't tell him that, though)...

Ralepeje*

Hekale's 'little sister'. She has a strong love for nature and all things in it. Despite knowing her efforts are futile, she wishes to restore the Golden Wasteland to its former glory. Needless to say, she was almost eaten by a Shadow Wraith while attempting this... twice.

Pipegah

A self-proclaimed 'seeker of ultimate knowledge' who, in reality, is nothing more than a somewhat insufferable know-it-all. She is constantly getting into arguments with Jariwo regarding his 'unprofessional demeanor'.

Zuvuc

Isveu's rival-turned-girlfriend. She enjoys manta racing and takes part in the sport sometimes. She is what she calls a 'glorified nanny' to two 'younger' Sky Children, Enon and Fisude.

Alef

The Prince of the Seven Realms. He is the adoptive son of King Resh. It is believed he was the first Sky Child. Despite not being part of her immediate friend group, he considers Isveu to be the closest thing he has to a friend.

*Cuxezaw and Ralepeje are supposed to be chibis, but the picrew didn't have a chibi option

Lore

I say 'younger' and 'little sister' because Sky Children are all siblings in a sense. Hekale's bond with Ralepeje simply transcends that norm. And by 'younger', I mean in state of mind and maturity.

This AU is mostly canon-conforming with a few original elements. For instance, there is a character known as the 'Mother of the Sky' who is based on AURORA's ingame avatar.

The Elders all go by their scrapped names:

Isle Elder - Daleth

Prairie Elder - Ayin

Forest Elder - Teth

Valley Elders - Sah (male) and Mekh (female)

Wasteland Elder - Tsadi

Vault Elder - Lamed

The scrapped King, Resh, is also present in this AU.

I have also named a few of the Seasonal Guides.

Abyss Guide - Scylla

Flight Guide - Neytiri

Moments Guide - Mons

Performance Guide - Dux

Passage Guide - Athena

Hopeful Steward - Iway

I've also created lore for Iway and the Aviary Village, but that will be posted in the fic I'm working on.

Awakening 🕯️ (9)

Kid is overwhelmed by his own emotions, and seeks find the comfort he usually gets when in the presence of the Forest Elder. In the meantime, Mekh's inner turmoil only grows as she also rushes to find Teth, but for a different reason. Assembling the pieces together might have created a certain narrative in her mind, one that might not be entirely correct. But Mekh bears the burden of her own pride and her own mistakes, which renders her highly susceptible to such criticism ⎯⎯ and intolerant to blame of any sort. As she recalls having confronted Teth in the past, prior to the Shattering, and angers over the fact that she hadn't been harsher, her thoughts are interrupted by Moon. Mekh lashes out, thinking that Moon was here to lecture her, but it didn't seem to be the case. Moon seemed to want to speak with Mekh. Their calmness, which didn't reciprocate Mekh's anger, caught her off guard. What could Moon possibly want to talk about ?
