DMO: Digimon Military Operatives_42.TXT
I've come today with sad news, but let's not jump to the end.
Last weekend I went to a cafeteria with some friends and, tho the reunion was joyful and pleasant, my way back home wasn't.
While I was walking back from the train station, I found some people I forgot about, a group suited man and well dressed woman I sometimes saw along the soldiers last year, while I was walking, a little uncomfortable and on guard because I recognized these people, they changed their position to purposefully block my way, so I would have to pass through them, thing that I stupidly did, and once I got over the little crowd, my Digimon DOCK began beeping, a warning sign appeared and... A tsunami of purple cyborg-like child level looking Digimon came into us.
I thought these things wouldn't be a problem anymore, but it appears that I was wrong. MegaloGrowmon, Filmon, Canoweissmon and Canondramon got attacked by those things, the ambush was well done, I admit that, they reunited enough of those things so they could stop my digimon from flying away and attacking from the air. Just like the last time, even tho everyone was attacking with all their might, the amount of Digimon didn't appear to be less, so I had to throw the heavy weapons to the mix, Arcturusmon, Siriusmon, Kuzuhamon, Spinomon and Helloogarmon entered the fight.
Thanks to Helloogarmon's heat, the digimon that I'll start calling BEMmon (Bug Eyed Monster, due to its eye) from now on because I've found no information regarding this species so I doubt it is named.
Getting back on track, Helloogarmon's heat made BEMmon step back, which allowed Canoweissmon and MegaloGrowmon to take flight, and shoot the Meteor Lux and Atomic Blasters from the air, liberating some space for Filmon and Cannondramon to attack with the Grenade Storm and the Crimson Slash, meanwhile, Arcturusmon had a curious reaction to re encountering BEMmon, he was... Afraid. Not that I'd blame him, one of these things did hurt him badly in the past, but it's curious how deeply an emotional wound could be, affecting even the incarnation of the GRB itself, this fear however, did not last long, since Spinomon gave him some kind words to ease his dread, this worked very well, since just by closing its eyes and charging to the BEMmon using Black Death, Arcturusmon appeared to feel better.
When the BEMmon crowd finally looked like it had reduced its amount, a semi humanoid figure that I can best describe as a "grown up BEMmon" this digimon appears to be the evolution of BEMmon, apparently, this new "BEMmon Adult" is way more intelligent than its predecessor, once the strange figure was seen by my digimon, the team divided to manage the BEMmon and this Adult digimon at the same time, with Kuzuhamon, Canoweissmon and Arcturusmon taking charge of this things while Helloogarmon, Cannondramon, Spinomon, Filmon and MegaloGrowmon took charge of the BEMmon, this Adult BEMmon wasn't really a menace, however, its intelligence and adaptation capabilities were something else, easily dodging the Ura-Izuna, Gallia Fissure and Black Death my digimon threw at it.
Getting through my digimon, the Adult BEMmon took a BEMmon and threw it at Filmon, who shredded the little robot with the Crimson Slash, and then getting into a fight with the mysterious Adult level digimon, the Adult Digimon seems to be able to easily eat the data it attacks with its tail, Filmon, on the other side, can inject energy into the enemy, destroying it's data in the process, an attack called Lighting Stinger, an apparent evolution of Herissmon's Lighting Fur, while the battle between adults was taking place, everyone was getting rid of the few BEMmon that persisted on being a bother, however, this Adult digimon apparently gave an order to the BEMmon, since with a move of its tail, the BEMmon almost instinctively made a small pack and tried to attack Filmon, and then I knew where all of this was leading to.
My Digimon DOCK uses a sports watch as a housing of the Digimon Capture program, however, thanks to the modding I've done to the program for it to work properly on the watch and for me to have some life quality improvements, it works differently when a battle is taking place. When a normal Digimon DOCK enters a battle, it creates a window to the Digital World for the tamer to see a simplified version of the fight that's taking place, however, in my case, the watch creates a small replica of the Digital World, a kind of portal that leads to an artificial area and still is connected to my Digimon DOCK, the adult BEMmon was trying to escape to my DOCK's OS to either replace my digimon or destroy it.
As soon as I could I ordered everyone to charge into the digimon horde and more importantly, its leader. Siriusmon quickly charged to use the Breaquasar and ultimately destroy the digimon, however, since Filmon was there, we had to be careful, that's why I couldn't just send Arcturusmon and tell him to use the Black Confession, it would've killed Filmon too, so I ordered Helloogarmon to change into Soloogarmon, who, propelling itself and hurling the Vánagandr charged into the digimon, meanwhile Filmon kept it from entering the Digimon DOCK's OS, the adrenaline felt by Filmon must have been high, because it used an attack similar to the Giga Crimson Dive, one of the signature attacks of its perfect form, Stiffilmon, allowing Soloogarmon to attack and destroy this digimon, however, it was able to shoot a laser into the OS, something that could mean the destruction of not only my work, but more importantly, my team, since, if they didn't return to the Digimon DOCK, their data could be lost in the simulation of the Digital World, luckily, everyone got to enter.
Once I got home I evaluated the situation and transferred all my digimon to my PC, just in case something could happen to the OS. Once I entered the Digimon DOCK again, somehow, the OS was almost intact, I ran an analysis and no problems or viruses were found, however, after that day, I noticed that the confirmation button of my Digimon DOCK started acting weird, the laser must've affected the button so it would constantly give orders to the OS, this must've been a way to break my Digimon DOCK, however, I turned off the DOCK in prevention to this, so the system wouldn't overload with commands and it ended up killing my DOCK. The button is completely worn out at this point, so it's basically unusable, I've ordered a new (not cheap) set of buttons (because the minimum amount for an international order was 20 buttons) so the housing can be repaired, this will take a while tho, since the buttons will come in 1 to 2 weeks, the reparation will take like an hour or so, even less, probably less, this however means that I won't be able to carry my digimon with me until this problem gets solved, so my operations will be limited to my PC and MAYBE my phone, I hope I can get this thing solved ASAP, because I don't really like isn't my personal electronics for this, but anyways, I'll keep this up the best I can.

Two become one.
Takato channels his spirits to MegaloGrowmon by shouting. Basically, this is like in Episode 23 (but with battle aura).

Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer - Final Thoughts
Phew! If you're wondering why I've been quiet for a bit, it's because this game took me 3 weeks to beat. It was kind of grueling at times. It definitely assumes that you played the previous 3 (or 4 if Anode and Cathode count for 2) games and does NOT baby you at the start. It definitely wasn't my favorite game in the series, but the fact that it did away with the terrible old Jogress system earned it a lot of points in my book. There are still some Wonderswan games to play, but I think that's really it for Ryo games! Thank goodness :)
Notes:
Major downgrade from D1 Tamers visually! D1 was so colorful and exploring the world was actually interesting. Brave Tamer follows the Digimon World 2 strat of making every single dungeon pretty much identical and the hub world is bland as heck as well. You don't even need to travel to get to the dungeons you just walk up to the same hole every time. Lame.
Thank God this game lets digimon level up and evolve normally. It basically follows the Pokemon style of evolution. In previous games there were bullshit level caps unless you jogressed a zillion times. This game still has that dumb mechanic where your digimon devolves into a baby. I get that that happens in the show, but it felt pretty silly in the game. They get back to normal pretty quickly after a few battles.
Digimon recruitment is limited to borrowing digimon from digidestined from the various anime series. What an awkward concept. Ryo comes out of nowhere to save the day and then each partner digimon is like "See ya partner, I'm ditching you for Ryo!" I'm just imagining the characters that are left partner-less facing certain doom after Ryo leaves lol. Maybe it's one of those situations where they're only gone for a few minutes due to dimension hopping.
The card slash system (based on the Tamers universe of course) was interesting, but kind of annoying to figure out. After I got a handful of strong cards I couldn't be arsed to keep trying new jogress combos.
Speaking of taking the lazy route, I didn't use the majority of the digimon I recruited once LOL. It's more efficient to just stick with the same digimon for the whole game unless you want to spend a lot of time grinding, so that's what I did. I ended up with only mega-level digimon at the end which is frustrating because MegaloGrowmon and Taomon were at level 30! (They upgrade to mega at 31).
The bosses were strangely easy in this game (except for one that took me like 5 tries). What made it hard were the frickin' labyrinthine dungeons (the last one is TIMED! Evil). I have a terrible sense of direction IRL and in video games so the dungeons in this game were torture for me. You have to traverse up to 5 floors and sometimes there are so many dead ends and roadblocks that it takes what feels like an eternity. Also, there are random battles every 2 seconds that increase the suffering. In the later game I planned my route ahead of time by figuring out where the boss was on YouTube and mapping backwards from there. Here's a screenshot of me and my map in MS Paint:
Tumblr media
(By the way, I always play Wonderswan games in windowed mode or else they look wonky. This time, that really came in handy).
I had to use multiple guides to figure out some of this game because the most popular walkthrough wasn't very good. It barely gives you any instructions on getting through dungeons, which was what I really needed.
Most scandalous part of this game was when Millenniummon called Ryo his lover (koibito)? Whaaaaa...?
I didn't realize that this game is a prequel to Tamers so I kinda did things out of order, whoops! I didn't realize that Cyberdramon was supposed to be the outcome of a Monodramon/Millenniummon jogress. Makes me want to rewatch some bits of the anime...
There was so much dramatic build up for the final battle and then it was so easy? I didn't even need to use the 10 low-level healing items I stocked up on. Oh well, guess I was well prepared.
Of course there's a post-game where you can scan all the digimon you missed, but that just seems silly. They're not partners in this game, they're cards. If I can't a raise a digimon I don't really see the appeal in collecting them all. (I mean I guess I wouldn't see the appeal in raising them all either, but the cards seem like even more of a waste of time).
The Wonderswan games have always been my fave digimon games but this one felt simultaneously half-assed and overly complicated. I'd give it like a 5 or 6 out of 10. Let's call it a 5.5.

What's interesting is that in the finale of 01, Gennai says that SkullGreymon wasn't a "wrong" evolution and there is no such thing as a "wrong" evolution, but it was just not the one meant for their purposes. Which suggests there actually is a time and a place for evolutions like it. It reminds me of what happens in Tamers where, as I keep saying, Megidramon did nothing wrong. Takato was filled with righteous fury towards Beelzebumon who just killed Leomon and was about to kill the rest of them too, so MegaloGrowmon evolved to ultimate level and fought Beelzebumon on equal footing exactly as intended. He never turned on his friends or anything like that. In fact, after Guilmon reverted, a remnant of Megidramon's power protected Takato when Beelzebumon tried to shoot them. Megidramon's only crime was looking scary, and may I remind you that Takato was also scared of Growmon and MegaloGrowmon the first time Guilmon evolved into them. Also, when Greymon evolved into SkullGreymon in 02, he fought the other mind-controlled digimon. He slapped away Fladramon, Digmon, and Holsmon after they attacked him, then used Ground Zero to destroy the dark tower with perfect accuracy. To me, it looked like Agumon was fighting against the evil ring from within and becoming SkullGreymon actually helped everyone.

GROWMON FELL I-
I don't know how to react...
He's waking up-
GROWMON'S ARM IS COVERED IN A MECHANIC OVERLAY HE IS-
GROWMON EVOLVED!!!!111!11
OK, UHHH sorry for the loss of composure there, Growmon evolved into MegaloGrowmon, a Virus attribute, Cyborg type digimon, now we'll be able to take care of Black MachGaogamon.
Using his Atomic Blasters, MegaloGrowmon got rid of the punching dog, normally I would say it's time to go, but I have a bad feeling about this whole situation, in pretty sure Codename Barracuda is still behind us.
Kuda-Gitsune Just informed me-
I was right.
