Summary: Things get worse before they can get better

Two days after you and Jaume are admitted into hospital, several different things happen.

One: Jenni's manager calls and tells her that she can only take a maximum of two more weeks leave and that she needs to return to Mexico within the month.

Two: Jaume gets much better, very quickly. He's practically good as new and he's allowed out of his room for short periods of time.

Three: The pottery place lets Alexia know that her mug and your train are ready so she goes to pick them up.

Four: She comes back with your ceramic train and drops it on the floor in horror when she sees you being intubated.

'She took a turn for the worse' they tell her. 'We've upped her medication and she should be fine in a few days', they say but all Alexia can think about is the shattered train on the floor and how tiny you look in your bed.

You're moved to the ICU and remain motionless and asleep for days on end. Therein lies the second problem.

The ICU nurses are stricter than the nurses in the peds wing. They say only the legal guardians can go into your room.

You have no father. You had no other mother either, not legally anyway.

You have just Alexia. Just Alexia who can sign off on treatment plans. Just Alexia who can sign you out and be given updates about your condition.

Just Alexia who can go and sit by your bedside and sob.

It was supposed to be a good day. Jaume was better. You were going to get your train.

It's all ruined now and all Alexia can do is sob.

Jenni sobs too.

She can't see you. She can't even enter the ICU. She can do nothing but loiter in the waiting room.

She had nowhere else to go.

Eli and Alba can go and see Jaume but Jenni has nothing to do with Jaume. She just has you.

You who is intubated and asleep in the ICU. You who she had pinned down and so cruelly not explained anything to. You who was still so small and scared and stuck in hospital while Jenni would have to return to Mexico very, very soon.

"How is she?"

Jenni's ex looks away. Alexia looks exhausted, worse than Jenni's ever seen her before. There are bags under her eyes. Her hair looks unbrushed. Her clothes are crumpled.

"The doctors are optimistic," Is Alexia's answer," They think she's fighting really well. They..." Alexia's throat bobs. "They think she'll be strong enough to come off it in a day or two."

"And she can have visitors again?"

"Maybe not as quickly," Alexia explains," I think we should be conservative. Maybe not even until she's fully healthy again. I think-"

"Alexia, I have to leave soon."

Alexia breaks off. "What?"

"Back to Mexico. I've delayed it as long as I can. By the end of the month, I need to be gone again."

"What are you talking about?" Alexia still can't wrap her mind around it. "Back to Mexico? Bambi's still sick."

"I know!" Jenni snaps. "I know, Alexia. And you need to make a decision."

"A decision? Jenni, what are you talking about?"

"You need to put someone else on her papers. You've seen those doctors. We don't get told anything. It's dangerous."

"Jenni-"

"What if Bambi breaks her arm? Me or Olga bring her to hospital and they can't do anything because we're not legal guardians. What would have happened if they couldn't get a hold of you after they intubated her? They can't change treatment plans without parental consent."

"I-"

Jenni sighs, long and drawn out. "I know you have a lot on your plate, Alexia. I know, I do but this is about Bambi and what she deserves and she deserves two people on that birth certificate."

Jenni doesn't say what she wants to say. She doesn't say that she desperately wants you as her own. She doesn't say that she thinks in the deepest, most malicious part of her brain that Alexia has already ruined whatever relationship you had beyond repair. She doesn't say that she thinks a new start in Mexico would be best for you.

She doesn't say that she's already looked at a ballet academy near her apartment and that her club has some of the best childcare options she's seen in a long time.

Jenni doesn't say anything more.

She just turns on her heel and walks out.

Out of Alexia's company, out of the waiting room, out of the hospital.

She doesn't say anything until she's in her car and sobbing into her steering wheel.

Her words float through Alexia's brain even as she sits in Jaume's room with him.

He looks much better than before. The rash is gone. He's moving around again.

The only evidence that he was ever sick at all is the IV still attached to his hand, feeding antibiotics into his body to make sure it's fully gone.

"Something funny, little man?" Alexia coos as he giggles uncontrollably," What so funny, huh? What so funny?" She bounces him gently at each word and Jaume giggles even more.

"The little man's happy he's getting out of here in a few days," Olga says, hooking her chin over Alexia's shoulder," Isn't that right, Jaume? Is that why you're so giggly today?"

Jaume giggle in answer, kicking his feet out.

"Look at these kicks," Alexia coos," My little footballer, huh? Are you going to captain Spain? I think you are!"

"Your Mama and sister went home," Olga says," They'll be here early tomorrow, like always."

"Jenni went as well."

Olga goes to sit in the chair next to Alexia's, frowning. "That's unlike her. I swear, I thought she was going to sneak into the ICU yesterday."

"She told me that she needs to go back to Mexico soon," Alexia says," She's delaying it for as long as possible."

"All for our Bambi?" Olga hums," She really loves her."

"Yeah," Alexia says," She does."

Alexia is in awe of Jenni sometimes. Jenni has always loved you, Alexia thinks. Jenni's always been a part of your life even when Alexia didn't have the energy to care for herself. Jenni had always been there.

Alexia doesn't think she'll ever understand just how much Jenni adores you. You make the planets spin for Jenni. You hang the stars and the moon and sometimes, like now, Alexia wonders if she'll ever be able to live up to that.

If she'll ever be able to give you the life you deserve.

She doesn't want to give you up. Selfishly, she wants a life where she can hold both you and Jaume in bed with her. She wants a life where she can go to Jaume's football matches and your ballet recitals. She wants a life where she can win a Champion's League and see you running onto the pitch to celebrate with her.

But she doesn't know if that's the life you want.

She doesn't know if that's the life you deserve, constantly being shepherded from one thing to another, constantly living in fear that you'll be left behind again.

Alexia knows a life with Jenni, where you're the centre of her world, would be good for you too. But, still, Alexia can't help but let her heart flutter at hearing Olga call you 'our Bambi'.

'Our Bambi'.

Hers and Alexia's.

If you went with Jenni then you would be just Jenni's, no matter if Alexia kept her name on your birth certificate. You would be half a world away. She would see you when Jenni returned for international duty. She would see you a few weeks every year and Alexia doesn't know how she could cope with that.

Alexia doesn't know how she would explain to Jaume about the sister he never sees.

Alexia is your mother and she needs to do what is best for you, despite how selfish she wants to be.

She needs to decide if she can still give you the best life possible or if letting Jenni raise you is truly what will give you the best chance possible.

"Ale?" Olga asks softly, shaking her," You're crying."

Alexia swipes the tears away. "I was just thinking about Bambi. I should probably get back to her. The doctors keep saying that she won't even notice but-"

"But you should still sit with her," Olga says," She deserves to have some company. Here." Olga reaches into her bag.

She pulls out your ceramic train, the one Alexia shattered on the floor after seeing you with a tube down your throat.

"It's still missing a few pieces," Olga explains," But I tried my best. I thought you could put it at her bedside."

Alexia takes it gently, cradling it in her hands. Olga's right. There's still little chips and Alexia can very clearly see where Olga has glued the broken pieces together.

It's still fractured and broken but it's perfect.

"I love you," Alexia chokes out," I love you."

"I love you too," Olga says," Just as I love our kids. Go, Ale. Sit with her. Me and the little man will be right here."

The sun glints on your ceramic train for nearly a week until you wake up.

The doctors keep you asleep until they're certain that the meningitis is gone.

Jaume gets to go home with Olga the day before you get woken up.

There's a crowd outside your room early the next day and Alexia is the only one allowed in.

"We've taken the tube out," The doctors explain," And she'll be coming out of the anaesthesia soon. She'll be a little disorientated and emotional but once she's up, give it an hour or two, we'll check her hearing and her strength and if it all goes well then she should be out of here by late afternoon."

"How likely is it that her hearing's being affected?"

"Meningitis is known to cause hearing loss but I'm optimistic. Despite what's happened, she's fought it every step of the way. There's a good chance she comes out of this without any lasting effects."

"And once she's up? I can let people in?"

The doctor glances over at the assembled crowd. "Only one or two in the room at a time. We don't want to overwhelm her."

"Thank you."

"I'll be back soon."

Alexia retakes her seat at your side, holding your hand gently in her own. Your little hands are perfect to hold in her own. You could probably hold just a finger and it would still be bigger than your whole hand.

"I love you," Alexia whispers as she presses a soft kiss to your forehead," I love you so, so much, Bambi. You're all better now. You just need to wake up."

You don't come to for another thirty minutes or so and, when you finally do, it's slowly.

"Mami," You say," My throat hurts."

Alexia can't help the worried laughter that bubbles out of her throat. It's half in relief and half in how disgruntled you look.

"Mami?"

"Here, Bambi," She says," Sit up. Let's have a little drink."

She holds the glass as you sip the water. You lean easily into the comfort Alexia's offering, your head resting on her shoulder

"Wha's goin' on, Mami?"

"You were sick," Alexia says," But you're better now and you get to leave if everything's okay."

Your brow wrinkles. "I..." Your eyes dart around and Alexia suddenly realises what the doctor meant by you being emotional. "I want Mama! Mama! Want-Want Mama!"

Tears spill down your cheeks and Alexia knows exactly who you want.

She shouldn't take it personally. She knows you're sad and overwhelmed and you're reaching out for comfort for the person that you can't see.

Alexia knows this is normal. She's been told this is normal and yet-

Alexia pushes away her feelings, tucking you into the blankets and pressing a kiss to your cheek that you clearly welcome. "I'll get you Jenni," She promises," Just give me a second."

She pokes her head out of the door.

"Jenni," Alexia says, voice emotionless," She needs you."

Jenni's looking more relieved than Alexia's ever seen her before as she rushes into the room.

"Mama," You say, brow wrinkled and looking up at her with wet, puppy dog eyes," You hurt me."

"I hurt you?" Jenni echoes as she takes Alexia's seat," When did I hurt you, Bambi?"

"When the bad man touched my back and you held my legs."

"I'm sorry, Bambi," Jenni says gently," That was wrong of me. I'm very, very sorry."

You're still confused. Your brain feels like it's full of cotton, all fuzzy and weird like that time the tv made that weird noise and went all staticky.

You lay back down. Your head bounces a little from the force you've thrown it back into your pillow with.

Everything's all jumbled and confused and you gently take Ma-Jenni's hand in your own. She's got big hands with fingers you can wrap your whole hand around and still have your hand be too small.

You know someone else like that, you think and your brain strains to think of who it is.

You get glimpses.

Big hands. A Barcelona kit. Gentle strokes down your back and kisses on your forehead when you're sad.

"Mami," You croak out even as Ma-Jenni climbs into bed with you and cradles you against her body.

Mami was with you earlier. You can remember that. You lift your head to see where she's gone but you can't see her anywhere.

"Mama," You say, tugging on Ma-Jenni's shirt as tears still drip down your cheeks," Mami's gone! Mami's gone again!"

You don't know that Alexia's crying too.

In the bathroom down the hall, staring at herself in the mirror and only seeing your own tearful face reflected back at her.

5 tips on how to pass a DOT physical

After completing the DOT Physical, a medical card must be issued and the driver must be released within two years or reported non-compliant with FMCSA standards.

If you want to give yourself the best chance of passing the test, check out these tips for passing the DOT Physical from Atlas Physical Therapist Darin Flannery, who works at the Schneider facility in Indianapolis.

Tips to pass a DOT Medical Exam

1. Start making healthy choices now.

Start a healthy routine at least three weeks before your DOT Physical. Do this by:

• Stock your fridge with healthy foods and limit foods high in sodium, calories and sugar.

• Eat three or four small meals a day instead of one or two large ones.

• Be physically active by walking and stretching outdoors. The DOT examiner will likely notice if your mind/body is not active during the actual test.

• Get enough sleep at night.

• Measure your blood pressure (if applicable and your blood sugar) a few hours before the test.

All of these can affect physics test results, including:

• Take your pulse.

• Take your blood pressure.

• Test your vision and audience.

• Perform a physical examination.

• Take a urine sample to check for glucose, protein, blood and illegal drugs.

2. Bring all necessary documents and paperwork.

These include:

• Medical records including Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine and compliance information if you have sleep apnea.

• Make a list of all your illnesses and the people you treat.

• A complete list of all the medicines you take and who prescribes them.

• If applicable, if you have had a DOT Physical before, make sure all physical details are recorded by a former DOT physical exams.

3. Be diligent about taking your medications.

If you take medication, be sure to take it at the same time each day. Also, if your medications were used before you, be sure to renew them as soon as possible.

Taking medications at different times, or if the medication is interrupted, can completely affect the results of the physical examination.

4. Avoid unhealthy habits the day of.

To give you the best chance of getting a DOT Physical, here are some things you'll want to avoid in the morning to raise your blood pressure and blood sugar, including:

• Not getting enough sleep at night.

• Everything

• Consumers of sugary foods and drinks.

• drink a lot of caffeine.

5. Be honest when answering questions about your health history.

You will be asked to fill out forms and answer questions such as:

• You have had an operation.

• Take medicine.

• You have been diagnosed with the first diseases.

• You have a drug problem.

• You have symptoms.

Be consistent with the medical history information you previously shared and include any updates made since your last DOT exam.

Characters: Aemond Targaryen, Inara Maegyr (Original female character) in a Modern HOTD AU

Warnings : FICTIONAL PLOTLINE. Established relationship. Me swooning over Aemond Targaryen and writing this🤭 Inara being a sweet and awesome girl.

Note: This post and that a mutual of mine (@/elegantsplendour) remarked that this fic series has 'Succession' vibes. I wasn't aware of the show when I wrote this last year, and I still haven't watched it. Any resemblance to its plot is purely coincidental. Everything that is going to be re-posted here, comes from my delulu mind.

Inara's thoughts and a little background about her are in italics.

"You know me, mom, I can't just start working in some random hospital as a junior doctor," Inara spoke to her mother on phone, cradling it between her ear and shoulder as she watered her kitchen plants on a Saturday afternoon, “I am trying to find a job where I can practice both medicine and my art.”

"Where on earth will you find such a job, Inara?" Her mom questioned disapprovingly. "You will soon be a licensed doctor and able to practice medicine. You should start with a clinician job and save up for your MD tuition."

"Let me at least try, Mum. Maybe I can join some makeup manufacturing labs or intern with those big-shot skincare providers."

Inara heard her mom sigh and tut in response to her plans, a reaction she was quite used to by now. Yet, the conviction in her voice didn't falter as she continued, "I will definitely enroll in an MD program. Don't worry.”

As long as Inara could remember, she had always loved makeup. Even as a child, she would rummage through her mom's makeup kits and spend hours in front of the mirror, painting her own face and sometimes her mother's.

Her parents always wished to see her in the white coat of a doctor - a dream she shared with them. Cracking the medical entrance exams straight out of high school was a cakewalk, her sharp intellect paving the way for her.

Despite plenty of medical schools in Essos, the allure of studying abroad was too strong and liberating. The prestige of the renowned Citadel Medical School in Westeros had captured her attention long ago, and securing a seat there felt like destiny fulfilled.

While medical school required her to focus entirely on classes and books, her creative side yearned for exploration. Her love for makeup never faded, and after dedicating half her life to studying, she decided to follow her heart. A heart that always danced between two worlds, two passions, yearning to embrace both simultaneously.

As soon as she adjusted to her new life on a foreign land, she enrolled into a weekend certification course near her medical school. And, thus began her journey towards becoming a rare combination of a licensed medical practitioner and a trained makeup artist.

Days blurred into nights as she balanced the demands of medical studies with the pursuit of her passion.

Six years flew by in a whirlwind of learning and she was now nearing the end of her curriculum. After the sixth and last month of her hospital training and formal graduation, she would be a licensed medical practitioner. Thanks to her dedication to both medicine and makeup, she now stood as a certified makeup artist, with an expertise in skin care and prosthetics.

After freelancing a bridal makeup assignment a couple of months ago, she decided to take a detour from a predictable route towards advanced degrees or clinical positions straight after college. She planned to give herself a year of exploration into other career options before enrolling into an MD in Dermatology. And so she made up her mind on freelancing or finding a job that could extend her stay in Westeros, thereby allowing her to save up for her MD.

"Anyway, you've been so busy with everything else, you haven't even thought about finding someone. You're not getting any younger!" Her mom steered the course of the conversation to the topic she dreaded the most.

Oh boy, here it comes!

The inevitable discussion about her biological clock and society's expectations for single women was about to begin.

"Mom, please, I'm twenty four, not forty four!"

"Yes, and about time you started thinking of settling down!"

Rolling her eyes, Inara let out a sharp sigh.

"I have chores to do, mum. I gotta go," she cut the conversation short, trying her best to hide her rising impatience, “Bye! Love you!”

"Fine, But please think about what I said. Love you. ”

After ending the call, Inara continued staring at her phone's home screen. Smiling faces of her family stared back.

Her mom’s words still lingered in her mind, as she made herself a cup of chamomile tea and settled herself infront of her laptop.

She sipped her tea, smiling and recalling her mom's statement about doing tons of different things at a time. She had always loved to hustle. And, she loved how chimeric her career goals were. It wasn't an easy road, but she was determined to make it work somehow. Career satisfaction had always been her first priority; finding someone to date or marry, wasn't.

Inara's attention snapped back to her laptop screen, her eyes widening as she noticed the fourth and fifth unread emails from the top. Both arrived around the same time from the job search website she had signed up for.

The subject of the first email read:

Requirement of an assistant make-up artist on an upcoming TV Show.

The second one read:

Requirement of a physician / medical officer(s) on a TV production.

Universe works in the strangest of ways. All you have to do is ask.

She quickly opened both emails in separate tabs. They were from the human resources department of a television production house in King’s Landing. A period drama based on mythological history was in pre-production, and the HR team was hiring people on contract basis.

As someone who rarely watched television,or movies, she chuckled at the thought of working on a TV production house. Nevertheless, she decided to give it a try. With a few quick clicks, she accessed the links for both the positions and uploaded her resume. As she crafted cover letters for each position, wishful thoughts surfaced again. She let out another exhilarating chuckle, as a wave of nervous excitement crawled down her spine.

How fun and cool it would be, if I could somehow do both the jobs simultaneously.

A week later, as Inara was on her way home from the hospital where she interned, her phone rang. Seeing a number with the King’s Landing code, she gasped.

With her heart alight with anticipation, she answered the call. Clearing her throat, she adopted her sweetest and most professional tone before greeting the caller.

"Hi, Dr. Maegyr, this is Stannis calling from the HR department at Red Keep Productions. We've shortlisted your resume for the opening we posted about. Will you be available for an interview next week?"

"Hello, Mr. Stannis. Sure, I...I will be available!" She tried her best to mask the excitement in her voice. "Uh, I applied for two positions. May I know which one I have been shortlisted for?"

"Dr. Maegyr, your profile is one of the most interesting we've received so far. You have been called to interview for both positions. I can't say with certainty right now if you'll be hired for one or both roles as that will be decided based on your performance in the interviews." She could sense his smile through the phone.

"Thank you," she mouthed, looking up, her amber eyes sparkling with gratitude.

Seen having delusional thoughts about The Batman, and an imaginary friend known as "Robert". Frequently speaks to himself while referring to "Robert".

Highly suspected psychopathy, due to expressed psychopathic tendencies around doctors and other patients; one such case included lashing out at another patient, Victor Zsasz, after the man made fun of Davis for being rather short. The situation escalated after Davis retaliated with verbal abuse, where Zsasz would be seen getting irritated at Davis and the pair would seem as though they were preparing to fight; Davis ended up throwing the first punch, then quickly got apprehended by nurses. The two were then separated. When asked, Davis showed no remorse in punching Zsasz, even showing he took enjoyment out of it.

Davis has also shown signs of being rather childish for his suspected age of being around 19 to 21. When asked about this, Davis stated that he had no interest in growing up after what he saw it would be like in society, that it was "boring" to him.

ok so i was at this really remote beach town that was like an hour away from anything and my cousin let my try his skateboard out. I fell (on video) and broke my scaphoid (its a important bone in ur wrist) and so we drove like an hour away to go to the hospital and he said it wasn’t broken (he was some new doctor who knew nothing and was ready to let me go home) so i asked if i could see the x-ray (i was legit 14 at the time and had no medical training apart from a first aid certificate) he said yes and i pointed to what I thought was an abnormal marking and he was like “oh yeah no thats broken” so i got a cast and the tech let me put glitter on it (i found glitter everywhere for months lol) it was red w gold glitter. Safe to say i never went near a skateboard again. But i still have the video of my breaking my wrist haha.

Why I reject the ‘Trans/Transgender’ label for myself

I’m not *Cis(gender). Some doctor took a look at my genitals at birth, and assumed I was male, which is what got recorded on my birth certificate. From my earliest memories around age 4, I knew I was female, just not in a female body. The rampant bigotry, negative attitudes, and lack of education torwards LGBTQ+ people during the 80’s and 90’s as I grew up put me in a difficult position where I was literally terrified of telling anyone about my gender identity troubles and seeking help. I tried to just get on with things in the hope it would go away, but extreme dysphoria doesn’t do that, and it was only after a near-suicide experience that I decided to go through the process of medical and social transition. It was the only way I could go on living. Years later with all that long behind me, gender recognition certificate and corrected birth certificate obtained, I live a much happier life.

I’m not *Trans(gender). All my life I’ve identified as female. Yeah, so my body had other ideas, but that was all corrected years ago, and I moved on. It’s no secret among my friends and family that this was part of my past, but I don’t feel the need to make a big thing of it, and it's not public knowledge. I’m quite happy just blending into the background and living my life in peace with those I care about around me. The last thing I want is to be targeted or doxxed by fascists, bigots, and the *TERF/GC brigade. It’s hard enough navigating the anti-trans rhetoric and policy changes being made by our (as I write this) bigoted right wing conservative government which listens to TERF’s/GC's instead of scientists. Trans and non-cis people are not a threat, yet are being made the target of an irrational and unscientific moral panic.

I get why some people have a strong connection to the Trans label, but I don’t and never have. It doesn’t work for me. I’m quite happy just sticking with being female and going about my life without carrying unnecessary baggage or a wearing target on my back.

I’m female. My pronouns are she/her.

Cis / Trans: “cis-” comes from the Latin meaning “on this side of,” as opposed to “trans-” which means “on the other side of”. I’m happy being neither, existing in the middle somewhere. Gender isn’t binary, and neither is the terminology.

TERF: Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist, aka FART: Feminism Appropriating Reactionary Transphobe or GC (so called gender critical). LGB Alliance, Mumsnet, JK Rowling, Posie Parker, and The Conservatives are a few examples of these bigots.

Dox / Doxxing: Publishing the private personal information about someone with malicious intent. Look up Keffals and how she brought down the nazi hate forum kiwifarms, which listed trans people’s personal information, and promoted targeted hate campaigns and harassment towards them, resulting in multiple suicides of targeted individuals.

La otra amenaza aparte de muerte es que estaba prostituyendo a mi Madre , la chica que me gusta que es Yakaira Valerio Mule y ella no lo entiende por manipulacion y mentiras de nuestro alrededor, tengo 3 anos soltera esperandola , juegan conmigo diciendome falsa informacion de que ella viene diario y me dejan esperando o se va disque con yordy y me humilla. Como no escucho su voz no estoy segura si ella tambien esta con ellos en esa burla constante hacia mi o si es cristian mi acosador y su gente tambien dice q tiene una amiga y mi hermana, alegando haberle dado "burundanga" para ponerla a tener actos sexuales y asi conseguir beneficios economicos por ese medio.

Ella Vivian en LIC y Cristian depue que la desaparecio trabajando pa El Cerro con ladrillos rojos las Ventanas de ese local que era su casa yo fui a llevarla 2 veces antes El tipo para que pareciera que nunca hubo vivienda sino que era un local tipo almacen las Cerro las Ventanas y ahora no hayl. El MISMO tipo que me acosa que cuando me hacia bullying (porque ahora no le da tiempo) yo Bien harta le dije que no veia yo razones para que me estorbara a mi porque yo no tengo dinero Tampoco taba con Tatiana, Ella al recibir 15k SE fue dejandome sola con la responsabilidad de la Renta que debiamos casi 12k juntas 12 mil dolares luego yo sola llegue hasta casi 16k y en esos tiempo si yo me quejaba de ESO. El estorbo me decia en vez de admitir que Ella fue una gonorrhea y q despues de 6 anos lo hizo Mal , El decia que era yo envidiosa de que Ella recibio dinero jajajja osea wow. Me decia Que Todo lo mio que me quitaba SE lo enviaba a Ella para q me diera rabia entonces sera que ella es complice de quien me roba ?
