Tlacochcalcatl
The tlacochcalcatl, meaning “Master of The House of Darts” was the highest ranking title of the Mexica military, the equivalent of a general or commander in modern terminology. He was responsible for all military decisions and planning, and lead the Mexica troops into battle.
The Tlacochcalcatl wore cotton armor for protection and mobility. His helmet resembled a human skull, adorned with hawk and quetzal feathers. In one hand he would wield a lance (tepoztopilli) tipped with sharp obsidian blades, his other brandishing a feathered shield (chimalli). On his back he wore three banners, topped with elaborate feathered decorations.

Another reason to love ‘Wynonna Earp’
Pop culture references.
Especially that of queer media and art/entertainment. This is just one episode and we’ve had Buffy, Legends Of Tomorrow, Orphan Black and Xena references in it. In fact there was a Xena reference in the last episode too when Nedley called Wynonna ‘Warrior Princess’.
It appears there are more Xena references in this show than any other kind of references. Andras is a big fan.
It’s no wonder Xenites feel most at home here.
Same kind of quirky campy tone.
Badass female protagonists.
Excellent balance of drama and comedy.
A main WLW epic romance/love story.
(If interpreted that way)
And crazy chaotic fantasy shenanigans where the cast don’t take themselves too seriously and just have fun coming up with wacky, over-the-top improvisations.
Xena is THAT show. And so is ‘Wynonna Earp’.
The influence is very strong and very prominent.
