Fandom: Mortal Kombat

Characters: Harumi Shirai, Hanzo Hasashi, Kuai Liang

Harumi let out a phew as she finished with the kitchen. She made a mental note to never let Hanzo try to cook ever again. She looked outside the window over the sink, observing the Shirai Ryu training under the shapeshifter. Speaking of the family, the sound of armor clinking made its way to her ears. She turned her head to see Hanzo.

“Mission?”, she asked.

Hanzo nodded, “It is a matter I can solve on my own, Harumi. So Kuai Liang will be staying back.”

“Great, I won’t get lonely without you then.”, Harumi playfully said, to which the maskless King gave a soft smile.

“Oh I am sure you won’t.”

“What are you two talking about?”, Kuai Liang asked as he entered the kitchen to greet his partners.

“Are we not allowed to?”, Harumi asked, smiling and with an eyebrow raised.

“I didn’t say that.”

“It’s a joke, Kuai Liang.”, Hanzo said.

“I know, I’m just stating facts.”

“Right, well.”, Harumi continued, “I’m finished here, so I can take over for the kid in the training sessions today.”

Hanzo raised an eyebrow, “Why? They seem to have everything under control.”

“Three thousand years old is practically a teenager in Edenian years, I was told. Let the kid have a life outside of the clan.”

“But they’re not Edenian?”

“Closest thing. I don’t know their lifespan.”

“Right.”, Hanzo said before walking closer to Harumi, planting a kiss on her cheek, “I’ll be heading out then. Careful you two.”

“Aren’t you forgeting something?”, Kuai Liang asked, moving to stand next to Harumi just as Hanzo was ready to head out the door.

The taller man stopped and stared at him in silence for a moment, before it seemed he finally understood what Kuai Liang meant, judging by his facial expression. Hanzo moved back towards him, and gave him a kiss on the cheek as well before walking out the door.

Kuai Liang stood frozen for a solid minute before shaking his head and trying to call after Hanzo, “I meant your mask, idiot!”

“I uh, think he already left.”, Harumi said.

Kuai Liang made a weird noise from his throat, his face beet red, which made Harumi chuckle.

“Are you okay?”

“No! I’m not used to this!”

“Hey, don’t worry. You can tell Hanzo you didn’t like it and he won’t do it again.”

“I’m not saying I didn’t like it.”, Kuai Liang mumbled.

“What?”

The two stood stared at each other for a few seconds before Kuai Liang turned his head in embarrassment.

“You know.”, Harumi said, “There is nothing wrong with liking Hanzo as well.”

“Isn’t he with you?”

“Yes, but,”, she stepped closer to him, “Kuai, I think you should understand that both Hanzo and I don’t see your presence as an obstacle to our relationship. Really, we want you to be part of it.”

“I-Is that how relationships work....?”

Harumi chuckled, taking his hand in hers, “I believe it is called ‘polyamory’, Kuai Liang.”

Kuai Liang let her hold his hand as he continued to think. Hanzo and Harumi were two of the most important people in his life, and he never wanted their relationship to break. Would this make him feel better? Would it truly consecrate their bond for as long as they lived?

“I......think we should talk more when Hanzo comes back.”

Harumi cupped his hand with a soft smile, “Take your time, Kuai. And remember, you are not forced to agree into anything. We only want you to be happy.”

“..I understand. Thank you Harumi...I love you.”

“Love you two, Kuai.”

MK11 Koncepts: Cyrax.

Bio:

Redemption: Once a skilled assassin for the Lin Kuei, Cyrax was tragically converted into a cyborg against his will and forced to commit terrible acts. Now freed with help from the special forces, Cyrax now fights both to atone for his past failures, and to prove that the soul of a warrior still lives inside him.

Gear:

Helmet/Mask: (Select animation: Close up on Cyrax’s helmet.) Designs include MKX triborg called “UPGRADE MARK X” a Kronika styled mask called “New era blessing” and a visor called Tekunin hunter.

Bomb: (Select animation: Cyrax holds out his hand and a bomb drops out to his hand. Designs include classic, Kronika style, SF style, and one with a mustard symbol on it called “Scent of fear.”

Pulse Blade: (Select animation: Cyrax summons his pulse blade from his wrist compartment and swings it to the screen) Designs include lightsaber like designs, a rudimentary design with a wooden handle, one blade with red light called “Sektor’s killer.”

Skins:

Metal hearted: Mk11 Design.

Metal assassin: A sleek, ninja-Like design.

Involuntary assimilation: Mk3 klassic.

Soul of a warrior: A design that’s a mixture between his full human look in MK9, and his part human in MKDA.

(Kombat pack exclusive) Before the fall: Full Human Cyrax with certain animation differences. (Comes with maskless and gear that resembles his human form in mk9.)

Fatal Blow:

Soul of a warrior:

Begins with a three slice combo with his buzz saw hand. If it connects, Cyrax jams the buzz saw into their chest and drives it upwards. (SLO MO 1) Before he performs a series of spin kicks that ends with a round house to send the opponent stumbling back. (SLO MO 2) Finally, he takes out a bomb and slams it against the back of the opponent’s head. (SLO MO 3)

Fatalities:

With a bang: Cyrax slices a hole in the opponent’s stomach and shove a bomb in there. The opponent tries to pull it out before it explodes, sending their body flying into the air.

Delayed action: Cyrax fires an energy net at the opponent, which seems to pass through them harmlessly. A bomb slowly rolls to the opponent, close up on the timer reaching zero and the opponent’s eyes widening, before the bomb explodes and the body explodes into various square shaped chunks.

Intro Animations:

Surprise entrance: Cyrax teleports into the arena. (If Cyborg, his body parts fly together like in MK9, if human, it’s in a puff of smoke.

Detonation sequence: Cyrax arms one of his bombs before putting it away. (Different whether human or cyborg.)

Kombat mode engaged: Shot of Cyrax scanning the opponent before it cuts to him.

Sharper than ever: Cyrax inspects his buzz saw before noticing the opponent.

Outro Animations:

Gift for you: Cyrax pulls a bomb out and rolls it towards the camera. When it explodes, it cracks the screen.

Beating pulse: Cyrax pulls out his two pulse blades and does a few practice swings before striking a pose.

Man or machine?: Cyrax looks at his gloved hand and peels it off, revealing either metal or flesh depending on the costume.

Loosening up: Cyrax laughs before he performs his MK3 friendship dance.

Intro dialogue:

Vs Sub-Zero:

Cyrax: I cannot thank you enough, Kuai Liang.

Sub-Zero: It was the special forces who restored you, not me.

Cyrax: You were the one that freed me.

Sub-Zero: Are you prepared for another match, Cyrax?

Cyrax: I am not Lin Kuei anymore.

Sub-Zero: Then it is between friends.

Vs Sonya Blade:

Cyrax: I wish to join your special forces.

Sonya: Show me that you’re ready.

Cyrax: With pleasure.

Vs Johnny Cage:

Cyrax: You owe me a refund for Ninja Mime.

Johnny: Sorry, all sales final.

Cyrax: Then I’ll beat it out of your skull.

Johnny Cage: Thanks for sparing me back in the tournament.

Cyrax: I only did what was right.

Johnny Cage: You get a discount for my movies from now on.

Vs Jax:

Cyrax: I could use some practice, Major Briggs.

Jax: Careful not to break anything.

Cyrax: Likewise.

Vs Frost:

Cyrax: And so thought Sektor was insane…

Frost: I am the Lin Kuei’s true master!

Cyrax: You are a petulant child.

Ending:

My entire life I have been used. The Lin Kuei, and now Kronika. Now that I am freed, and the hourglass in my possession, I have a chance to rewrite history.

(Shot of Cyrax standing over Kronika’s destroyed body as Kronika’s essence enhances him.)

But I have learned one thing from my time as a cyborg. We cannot choose our fates. Even with the power of a Titan, life cannot be predicted.

(Cyrax looking down at his cybernetic hand, clenching it in resolved determination as he stops using the hourglass.)

So, I gave the hourglass to Raiden. Sub-Zero told me that I was welcome to rejoin the Lin Kuei. I told him I was honoured. But I couldn’t rest until Sektor paid for his crimes.

(Raiden inspects the hourglass while Cyrax discusses with Sub-Zero.)

There’s been word of Sektor amassing an army of cybernetic warriors. His vision for the Lin Kuei must be destroyed, and it shall with the help of the special forces.

(Shot of Cyrax meeting with The SF as they project an image of Sektor and his clan.)

When this battle is over, the Tekunin will be rubble, and Sektor’s madness will end.

(Final Shot is of Cyrax leaping towards Sektor with his saw as Sektor blasts his flamethrower)

SO I know Jade and Frost’s maskless gear are in towers of time... Kitana and Skarlet’s you need to do the 75k shrine thing.

Anybody knows about Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Kabals??? That’s all characters that can be maskless right??

@paindealt ha dicho: while makin icons i was reminded of Dat Intro and liiiiiiiike if Frost was dead to Kuai "long ago" then how come he seems visibly upset (and surprised) that she went alongside Sektor??? lmao

ANALYZING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SUB-ZERO AND FROST: A POST by someone who doesn’t write Kuai Liang but still

Okay, taking first the Story Mode in consideration since I’m looking at the chapter right now and analyzing every single second of it and expression (Hanzo... sweetie... the muscles of your face, use them), let’s just start with the moment they see Cyrax and this Mysterious Woman entering the laboratory. Kuai just had his first bit of sad momentTM when seeing people of his clan killed and there are guts everywhere... he has to live ALL OF THIS ALL OVER AGAIN, and obviously, his expression while holding that medallion is the one of someone who loved his clan and I dare to say, that he was like a father to them. Now, let’s go back to that moment I mentioned. They see this mysterious woman... AND THEY SEE CYRAX!! He is there, and that surprises Kuai Liang in a bittersweet manner since you can see it on his face. When it comes the moment to jump into action, Kuai, JUST IN CASE, he freezes the Mysterious Woman in case she’s a threat to them and go straight for Cyrax, well, Hanzo does it and is a great distraction, when suddenly...

Mysterious Woman is Frost no less and she is a cyborg... no less.

And this is like a bucket of cold water on his face, he is notoriously surprised and upset as you say, after all these years he gets to see his greatest pupil and all the memories come to him, perhaps he thought that her destiny took another turn (going back to California, death, anything but clearly NOT THIS), but another thing...

Kuai tries to knock some sense into her head. I mean, if someone was ‘dead for you long ago’, would you try to bring out these facts to them? Try to knock some sense into their heads even if they are long gone to be back to how they were before? Kuai has all the reasons to be upset, you can listen to his anger and sadness when he mentions about all he did for her (to me, I think this is also a sign about how well they knew each other, how else he would know she had no home before joining the Lin Kuei? Of course, Frost TRUSTED Kuai enough to reveal this piece of her past). ALSO I want to remark Kuai’s facial expressions when saying that there is no future in which she leads the Lin Kuei: sadness, anger, and inquisitory finger, and perhaps holding back his tears? Whatever, you can see how terrible he is feeling now.

Now let’s talk about the worst part: Frost’s death.

I don’t know why, but this little piece of her dialogue before going for Raiden is an attempt from the writers to foreshadow her death... I mean, Raiden ‘ignored her through her entire life’ and how funny that is Raiden who puts an end to her life. Also, I think they tried to make you feel a little tiny bit of sympathy for the devil here. Like this is a reminder right here that Frost went from ‘Nothing to Everything’, got so intoxicated with the desires of power that hell, there’s no stopping from this point.

Okay, now the bad part...

This the expression of a man who’s just so disappointed and having a really bad time, and the worst part is when he realizes that Frost was controlling the Cyber Initiative all this time, not Sektor. Even if he hasn’t realized about it yet, you can notice that he’s truly hurting by how everything turned out, remarks about her wasted potential (Kuai KNOWS that Frost is so capable of being more, that she could have been Grandmistress if she was more patient, and even named her is heir to the title of Sub-Zero).

So, let’s go for the last part of this long-ass post about me trying to prove something obvious and looking deeper into it because I have no self-control and I’m screaming as I type this:

The Dialogues

Frost - Sub-Zero

Frost: Here to criticize me again? Sub-Zero: I held you to a higher standard. Frost: You held me back!

Frost: The circle is complete, Sub-Zero. Sub-Zero: You were a talented student once. Frost: And now, I'm the master.

Frost: I'm done with your pretentious lectures. Sub-Zero: No power is worth trading your soul. Frost: That's a perfect example.

Frost: I was your heir apparent. Sub-Zero: If only you'd been more patient, Frost. Frost: Like I'm patiently waiting to kill you?

Sub-Zero - Frost

Sub-Zero: Here to face the Grandmaster? Frost: I'm here to take your place. Sub-Zero: You are not ready, Frost.

Sub-Zero: I have no wish to strike you. Frost: You can't hurt me, Grand-bastard. Sub-Zero: Even iron rods can be ground to needles.

Sub-Zero: Was I such a poor mentor? Frost: Mentor? You were an obstacle! Sub-Zero: All tests are hard before they are easy.

Sub-Zero: The Lin Kuei are done with you. Frost: They will follow me in the New Era. Sub-Zero: That era will never come.

On one side we have Frost simply spitting out poison, making remarks about how terrible mentor he was, that he didn’t help her to explore her entire potential, that his lectures are pretentious. And on the other side, we have Sub-Zero who’s just... he’s just tired, he’s having a bad time having to see his best pupil becoming everything he has feared before, Kuai was FORCED to be a Cyber Lin Kuei, that whole experience traumatized him and has done his very best to overcome that trauma by restoring the clan in his own way. These lines of dialogue still don’t reveal enough about how it was their relationship in the past... but there is one which is pretty interesting, and it can be considered as Kuai’s last attempt to let Frost know that he cares for her still:

Sub-Zero: I have no wish to strike you. Frost: You can't hurt me, Grand-bastard. Sub-Zero: Even iron rods can be ground to needles.

Kuai doesn’t want to hurt Frost, if she was ‘dead for him so long ago’ as he says in that intro with the Joker, why even try? Wouldn’t you just go and kill your own student if they were like Frost to let them know how dead they are for you? If you can find this intro with them maskless, is pretty interesting because they’re both hurting here, even Frost looks sad in this intro without the mask when she says that he can’t hurt her, and Kuai’s voice is the one of someone who’s so sad and upset.

Also, it’s so obvious that Kuai refuses to kill her or even fight against her, like, these are the intros between Frost - Kitana and Liu Kang:

Kitana: I must take you to Sub-Zero, Frost. Frost: Since when do you do his bidding? Kitana: Since we chose cooperation over kombat.

Frost: We have no quarrel, Liu Kang. Liu Kang: I'm bringing you back to Sub-Zero. Frost: Attempt it and you die.

The Kahn of Outworld and The Chosen One are out there working together for a common cause: bring Frost back to Sub-Zero, a petition made by him no less. They don’t suggest anything about ‘Sub-Zero wants to kill you’ or anything referring to him ending with her life, no no, they just want to bring her to him, and this gives me memories of... the OG timeline...

Frost’s ending in Deadly Alliance:

As they traveled back to the portal that would return them to Earthrealm, Sub-Zero revealed to Frost that she had been an integral part in the destruction of the Deadly Alliance, and that he was proud to have her as a member of the Lin Kuei clan. But unknown to Sub-Zero, Frost's true intention for joining the Lin Kuei was to become Grand Master herself. She used her ice blast to temporarily immobilize him and ripped the Dragon Medallion from his chest. As she held the medallion, she felt power surge through her body. Lacking the strength and discipline required to control the medallion's immense power, she was consumed by her own freezing ability.

Sub-Zero’s Bio in Deception / Unchained:

"My fellow Lin Kuei, Frost, had betrayed me and stolen my Dragon Medallion. Unable to control the medallion' s power, she was consumed by her own freezing ability. I searched Outworld for a suitable place to bury her remains when I happened upon ancient ruins carved into a mountainside. I learned that the ruins were a holy structure belonging to a lost race of people who had attained mastery over the cold. After thorough study of this culture, I now believe both Frost and myself to be their descendants. I laid Frost's body in a sarcophagus and left the catacombs, donning the armor of my newly discovered heritage."

Frost’s ending in Deception / Unchained:

Sub-Zero returned to Earthrealm only to find many of his clan slain by Frost. She had come back to the Lin Kuei temple with the intention of killing only him, but she was now delirious and saw Sub-Zero everywhere. Sub-Zero blasted her with intense cold, freezing her until she could be revived and cured of her dementia. He laid her on an altar in the chamber of fallen Lin Kuei and sealed the room with a wall of ice. Frost will one day recover. When that day comes, she will have to answer for her crimes against the Lin Kuei.

Kuai also cared for Frost in the Original Timeline, besides of not expressing this so much because of how DA/D were written and displayed, there’re these bits in their bio cards and endings that show that Kuai Liang cared and even was proud of her. Most important here: he wants to give her a proper burial after her betrayal, he carries her to these mountains in Outworld to put her in this ice sarcophagus once, he does it twice then believing that she will answer for her crimes against the clan. All of this is because he respects Frost enough to not let her decaying like the corpse of an enemy (is interesting how is mentioned in his MKDA ending that he took Frost back to the Lin Kuei, but in his MKD bio card he says that he left her in this place in Outworld that was casually a vestige of who they are). Anyway, this got longer than expected so now you have to read this word vomit.

PS: I had to watch Frost dying again, I just want you to know that I hate that scene so much that I always skip it. I watched it only bc of this...

Oh, thank you, my dear (unfortunately I don't know your name).

I already have a few posts with him, but they is still in draft. I will post these a little later.

Unfortunately, I have not received his unmasked gear, just like other people too. If this is some kind of glitch or something else, I cannot say. But if it happens that I get this, then I will make posts with unmasked Kuai Liang.

"It's not your fault."

Type: Fanfiction

Fandom: Mortal Kombat

Characters: Bi-Han, Kuai Liang

Bi-Han rarely found himself feeling awkward, and he would consider sitting between Hanzo Hasashi and Kakkō Hasashi was his crowning moment of awkwardness. He was glad he had his mask on, otherwise his face would give away his very real fear as the two stared at him so intensly it felt like daggers in his soul. The tension was somewhat lessened by Harumi Shirai being in the room. Tomas refused to even look at him.

His attention was trying to focus on Kuai Liang across from him, but nearly everyone else in the room made him feel like he was about to be killed. Kuai Liang seemed to notice this, giving his brother an understanding look.

“Would you leave us for a moment?”, Kuai Liang asked, Hanzo especially giving him a look of concern before getting up and leaving.

When they left the room, the King being the last one to do so, Bi-Han let out a long breath he was not aware he was holding.

Kuai Liang sighed, maskless, “I think Kakkō of all people has the right to be looking at you like that.”

“They have...surely grown....”, Bi-Han commented.

Kuai Liang smiled, “They are a good kid, Bi-Han. Besides, you have also thought of recruiting them in the past.”

“That was before I discovered they were a shapeshifter.”

“What difference does that make?”, Kuai Liang asked.

“Kuai Liang, they shapeshifted into our father! They know our fears.”

“Bi-Han, our father was a good man, why would you be scared of him-?”

“He was not!”

The raise of Bi-Han's voice caught Kuai Liang by surprise, but he remained silent as he let his brother speak.

“Kuai Liang. You never were the one that was meant to take up the mantle of Subzero, you and Tomas were the ones protected from our father’s harsh treatments. Our mother, our sister, he let them die.”

“Bi-Han..our sister died when she was still one with our mother.”

“He was a liar.”, Bi-Han spat out, “I was there, Kuai Liang. I heard her cry, she was alive. He knew that, he saw it with his own eyes. And he still let them die.”

Kuai Liang stared at his brother in disbelief, his mind almost refusing to acknowledge the words coming out of his mouth.

“..Bi-Han....”

“I am not lying! You have to believe me, please.”

“Bi-Han, you do understand what you are saying is something very bold.”

“Kuai Liang.”

“How did you do it?”

“What?”

“Back in the temple, you said you let our father die. How?”

Bi-Han paused, taking in his brother’s words.

“..It was during a mission. It was snowing outside, and it was red, white, and peacefull after all was over....me and him were the only ones left standing. He was wounded, tainting the ice with his blood.....he begged me to do something, anything to save him. But I didn’t, I let him bleed out and die, right there on the snow. And I felt.....relief..”

“...Relieved that it was over?”
