Picasso, Maya at Three Months, 1935 - Picasso Museum
Between January 1938 and November 1939 Picasso painted fourteen portraits of Maya – the most important series Picasso devoted to one of his children, in which his joy as a father finds poignant expression in his joy as an artist.

She looks like both of them...
“In his portraits of Maya, Picasso reached for his most joyful, brightly coloured palette, and employed a combination of styles to elevate his daughter to the same level as his paintings of her mother, Marie-Thérèse – the artist’s greatest love, with whom we associate his most romantic pictures. There is a continued strong demand for paintings from the 1930s, and a work of this calibre is made even more remarkable for not having appeared on the market in almost a quarter of a century.”

I Blame Dora Maar!
Pablo Picasso - "Dora Maar assise" (Dora Maar seated)
Henriette Theodora Markovitch, better known as Dora Maar, was a French photographer (so she said), painter, & poet. A romantic partner & muse of Pablo Picasso, Maar was depicted in many of Picasso's paintings, including his "Portrait of Dora Maar" & "Dora Maar au Chat." Below⬇️
Here is Dora Maar photographed by Man Ray
& here's her "Self Portrait Avec Chapeau" from 1936 Below⬇️
Now we know why Pablo did all those horrible "Dora Maar portraits". He was inspired by HER "Self Portrait With Hat". It was her own damn fault! She has no one to blame but HERSELF!
Way to go Dora...
Dora Maar by Pablo Picasso
Don't roll your eyes. How do you think Marie-Thérèse & Jacqueline feel? Do you think it's fair that they had their faces all screwed up simply because you lacked the skill to develop film properly & Man Ray told you to just tell everyone that you're a surrealist & did it on purpose?
