Tangier as city host of the 2024 All-Star Global Concert.

Presented in partnership with the Ministry of Culture of Morocco and the City of Tangier, the four-day celebration (27-30 April) will emphasize the city’s jazz heritage and highlight cultural and artistic ties between people in Morocco, Europe and Africa. A series of education programmes will include events for students of all ages, a special presentation showcasing the significance of Morocco’s Gnawa music and its connection with jazz, and conversations about the history of jazz and its impact on Tangier, among others. A culminating All-Star Global Concert at the beautiful, new Palace of Arts and Culture of Tangier – an architectural masterpiece – will be broadcast during 4 days.

Music enthusiasts can look forward to legendary figures of jazz, blues and beyond electrifying the city of Tangier – and screens throughout the world. Led by iconic pianist Herbie Hancock and Musical Director John Beasley (USA), the All-Star Global Concert will feature performances by an international roster of artists from all corners of the globe, including master Gnawa musician Abdellah El Gourd (Morocco). Other confirmed artists include: Claudia Acuña (Chile), Ambrose Akinmusire (USA), Lakecia Benjamin (USA), Richard Bona (Cameroon), Dee Dee Bridgewater (USA), Moreira Chonguiça (Mozambique), Shemekia Copeland (USA), Kurt Elling (USA), Antonio Faraò (Italy), Melody Gardot (USA), Jazzmeia Horn (USA), JK Kim (Republic of Korea), Magnus Lindgren (Sweden), Romero Lubambo (Brazil), Marcus Miller (USA), Yasushi Nakamura (Japan), Tarek Yamani (Lebanon), and many more to be announced. 

Located at the crossroads of Europe and Africa, Tangier is known as a melting pot of cultural expressions. Tangier boasts a long, rich history of jazz. Among the world-renowned jazz artists who performed and spent time in Tangier were Josephine Baker, Ornette Coleman, Herbie Mann and Archie Shepp. For many years, jazz master Randy Weston lived in Tangier, where he collaborated with Gnawa master Abdellah El Gourd to explore the roots of jazz and African music.

Gnawa-jazz, a fusion of Morocco’s traditional musical style and jazz, is appreciated across Morocco and far beyond. In the 1970s, Weston founded the African Jazz Festival, which became the inspiration for multiple jazz festivals throughout Morocco, including Tanjazz and Jazzablanca.

In addition to the Global Concert, UNESCO encourages schools, universities and non-governmental organizations around the world to celebrate International Jazz Day. Performing arts venues, community centres, town squares, parks, libraries, museums, restaurants, clubs and festivals organize thousands of activities, while public radio and television feature jazz on and around International Jazz Day.

Established by the General Conference of UNESCO in 2011 and recognized by the United Nations General Assembly, International Jazz Day brings together countries and communities worldwide every 30 April. The annual International Jazz Day celebration highlights the power of jazz and its role in promoting peace, dialogue among cultures, diversity and respect for human dignity.

International Jazz Day has become a global movement reaching more than 2 billion people annually on all continents through education programmes, performances, community outreach, radio, television and streaming, along with electronic, print and social media. The Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz is the lead nonprofit organization charged with planning, promoting and producing International Jazz Day each year.

After a messed up drug bust, FBI agent brothers, Marcus (Marlon Wayans) and Kevin Copeland, (Shawn Wayans) have to escort two women in the Hamptons as punishment. Realizing they are used as bait for an abduction, the girls refuse. With no other option, the Black brothers transform themselves into white women to pose in their place.

This movie is hilarious, really. It's witty, funny, and there's action and comedy. There's communication problems, there's messy plans, and there's a whole lot of improv.

The Wayan brothers are hysterical in their chemistry with one another. They're a disaster together but, essentially they share a brain cell. Their egos and lack of communication gets them into crazy trouble, but it's funny because of how they react to the problems.

'A Thousand Miles' is also featured in the movie, and is very iconic. Terry Cruz's Latrell has a scene with the song that everyone is familiar with, but honestly it's cringey looking at it now. His character is the antagonist for the brothers, because he manages to unintentionally get in the way of their bust.

The movie overall is just funny to watch, and has several one liners. There's even a iconic scene featuring DMC's 'It's Tricky', and several action sequences. It has mistaken identity, which is always cool to watch.

Copeland: I guess threatening to unleash a wrathful spirit is a little grim for dinner conversation. It would still be cool, though.

Después de una misión fallida, los agentes del FBI Kevin Copeland y Marcus Copeland caen en desgracia en la agencia. Se puede analizar mucho más de lo que se ve, por ejemplo la habilidad para disfrazarse e improvisar de los protagonistas, y su amor al trabajo y afán de conseguir un reconocimiento como policías, la amistad de Kevin y Marcus que siempre se apoyan, y nunca dejan de lado su trabajo sin importar la situación, además aprenden a empatizar con las mujeres al convivir con ellas y entienden al final los sentimientos de sus amigas y de sus respectivas parejas en la película, lo cual fue todo un aprendizaje para ellos.

ATLANTIC CITY – They’re back!

Two years after Saint Peter’s made its inspiring run to the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight, the tiny school from Jersey City returns to March Madness looking to regain its Cinderella status.

The Peacocks punched their ticket with a 68-63 win over Fairfield in Saturday night’s MAAC Tournament championship game at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, emerging as the No. 5 seed with its third win in as many days.

Sophomore forward Corey Washington led the way with 24 points, at the Peacocks won their fifth MAAC title overall, and their second in three years.

Saint Peter’s is the team that started New Jersey’s recent run of shocking postseason performances, the first of three New Jersey schools to advance against long odds, with Princeton reaching the Elite Eight a year ago, when FDU won two games at a No. 16 seed, including a takedown of top-seeded Purdue.

Now, with Mason having replaced Shaheen Holloway, now the Seton Hall boss, and just one player, MAAC Defensive Player of the Year Latrell Reid, who finished with nine points, remaining on the Peacocks’ roster from two years ago, they head back to the Big Dance.

The Peacocks now wait to find out their next opponent when the 68-team field is announced Sunday night. They figure to be a 16 seed and could end up in the First Four in Dayton, perhaps against NEC champs Wagner, coached by Donald Copeland, a former assistant coach to Saint Peter’s head coach Bashir Mason at Wagner. If they are in the main draw, it could mean a rematch with Purdue, who they beat in the Sweet 16 two years ago, or Houston or North Carolina.

Defense makes difference After Saint Peter’s built a 61-54 lead, Fairfield rallied with a steal and score by Jalen Leach and a drive by Brycen Goodine to make it 61-58 with 1:39 to play. Washington then missed the front-end of a one-and-one, with Fairfield getting a score from Goodine on a drive to pull within a point with 1:16 left.

When Washington went back to the line shooting two, he sank two to make it a 63-60 game with 1:07 on the clock.

It then came down to the Saint Peter’s defense, which came into the game ranked 12th nationally, getting a stop, with Marcus Randolph getting fouled on the defensive rebound with 50.9 left. He made one of two from the line to make it a two-possession game at 64-60.

Caleb Field then scored on a drive and was fouled for Fairfield, completing the three-point play with 39.9 seconds left. Clarke was fouled and made two free throws with 15.1 seconds. Fairfield’s Jasper Floyd missed a jumper at the other end, with Washington getting fouled with 2.9 seconds left, hitting both free throws to seal the win.

After going down 29-19, the Peacocks rallied with a quick 6-0 run, pulling within four points on a pair of free throws by Marcus Randolph with 1:53 left. But a Yetna tip-in put the Stags up 32-25 at halftime, with Yetna leading all scorers with 10 points over the opening 20 minutes.

Then Washington took over, scoring six straight points, with the final two coming after he blocked a shot at one end and took the ball coast-to-coast for the score, giving the Peacocks a 49-44 lead. It stretched to 52-46 on a triple by Clarke with 7:40 left.

Seppur perdendo, l'uomo si infatuò della donna, amore per il quale venne ricambiato e abbandonò il suo precedente stile di vita. Qualche anno dopo, Ying Li venne uccisa da una gang criminale nemica di Wenwu e quest'ultimo si vendicò uccidendoli tutti, seppur non trovandone il capo, e tornò alla sua precedente vita, includendo anche l'allora figlio di soli 7 anni, Shang-Chi. Addestrato a essere un assassino, a 14 anni Shang-Chi uccise, su ordine di Wenwu, il capo della gang che uccise la madre, ma dopo ciò decise di fuggire da casa, lasciando indietro la sorella Xialing.

Nel presente, a San Francisco, Shang-Chi lavora come parcheggiatore di auto per un hotel con la sua migliore amica Katy. Un giorno, i due vengono attaccati dai Dieci Anelli, che intendono appropriarsi di un ciondolo che Ying Li donò in passato a Shang-Chi; l'assassino Razor Fist riesce nell'intento e Shang-Chi comprende che i Dieci Anelli prenderanno anche l'altro ciondolo identico al suo, che possiede sua sorella Xialing. I ciondoli sono collegati al mistico mondo di Ta-Lo e al Gran Protettore, un drago marino. Shang-Chi e Katy si recano a Macao, da dove qualche mese prima Xialing aveva inviato una cartolina a Shang-Chi. Una volta arrivati, Shang-Chi si iscrive involontariamente a un incontro di lotta in un fight club, dove dovrebbe trovarsi Xialing. Shang-Chi scopre che il suo avversario, nonché proprietaria del fight club, è sua sorella, la quale, rancorosa nei confronti del fratello per averla abbandonata dieci anni prima, lo sconfigge furiosamente. Poco dopo arrivano i Dieci Anelli insieme a Wenwu, che recupera anche il ciondolo di Xialing e cattura quest'ultima, Shang-Chi e Katy.

Tornati a casa, Wenwu rivela che ha recuperato i ciondoli perché una sera la voce di Ying Li gli ha detto che è tenuta prigioniera dalla gente di Ta-Lo, colpevole di averli abbandonati in passato. Poiché Ta-Lo è situato all'interno di una foresta-labirinto che muta in continuazione, Wenwu ha scoperto che recuperando i due ciondoli è possibile ottenere la mappa della foresta e intende distruggere Ta-Lo qualora Ying Li non venga liberata. Contrari a queste decisioni, Shang-Chi, Katy e Xialing vengono incarcerati e qui scoprono che, oltre a loro, è tenuto prigioniero anche Trevor Slattery, da quando si spacciò per il Mandarino qualche anno prima, oltre a una creatura mistica di nome Morris. Sfruttando delle gallerie sotterranee usate anni prima da Xialing per fuggire, il gruppo ruba l'auto di Razor Fist e parte alla volta di Ta-Lo, per informarli dell'imminente attacco.

Raggiunta Ta-Lo grazie all'aiuto di Morris, il gruppo viene accolto dalla sorella di Ying Li, Jiang Nan, che racconta loro che in passato un demone conosciuto come il Divoratore di Anime quasi distrusse la loro terra ma che riuscirono a confinarlo dietro una porta grazie all'aiuto del Gran Protettore; il mostro sta manipolando la mente di Wenwu fingendosi sua moglie, in modo che distrugga il sigillo e lo liberi. Il giorno seguente, Shang-Chi ha modo di confrontarsi finalmente col padre, ma viene sconfitto e lasciato nel lago di Ta-Lo, mentre Wenwu si dirige a distruggere la porta. In aiuto di Shang-Chi accorre il Gran Protettore, che si unisce alla battaglia, mentre il ragazzo, grazie agli insegnamenti della zia, riesce a sconfiggere il padre ma decide di non ucciderlo. Tuttavia, i danni arrecati alla porta sono vasti, e il Divoratore di Anime si libera, rubando l'anima di Wenwu. Quest'ultimo, poco prima di morire, passa i Dieci Anelli al figlio. Il Gran Protettore, cavalcato da Shang-Chi e Xialing, si confronta col Divoratore di Anime ma, quando quest'ultimo sta per rubargli l'anima, Katy scocca una freccia che colpisce alla gola il Divoratore, indebolendolo e permettendo al Gran Protettore e Shang-Chi di eliminarlo definitivamente. Tornati a San Francisco, Shang-Chi e Katy vengono raggiunti da Wong, che vuole parlare con loro.

Nella scena a metà dei titoli di coda, Shang-Chi e Katy, a colloquio con Wong, Bruce Banner e Carol Danvers scoprono che i Dieci Anelli esistevano da prima che il Mandarino li trovasse, e che stanno trasmettendo un segnale. Nella scena dopo i titoli di coda, Xialing è tornata a casa e ha preso il comando dell'organizzazione del padre.

231) National Socialist Movement (NSM, Ruch Narodowo-Socjalistyczny) - brytyjska grupa neonazistowska działającą pod koniec lat 90. Grupa nie jest powiązana z wcześniejszym Ruchem Narodowo-Socjalistycznym Colina Jordana. Korzenie NSM leżą w rozłamie, który rozwinął się w Combat 18 w połowie i pod koniec lat 90. Na początku 1997 roku w ITV's World in Action twierdzono, że pierwotny przywódca Combat 18 Charlie Sargent, który w tym czasie przebywał w areszcie za zabójstwo innego członka C18, Chrisa Castle'a, działał jako płatny informator policji, chociaż nie przedstawiono żadnych dowodów na poparcie tego zarzutu.
