Hey guys,
Today we are chatting about a eyeshadow palette I only recently found out existed though apparently it's actually been out a while! We are chatting about the Morphe x Maddie Ziegler Changement artistry palette , £17.00. Now if you cast your mind back to July 2020 Maddie bought out her first eyeshadow palette which I reviewed (here's a LINK to that blog POst). Her original palette had a range of 24 pastel, neutral and deep tones for £24.00 and I adored this palette. It was a easy grab if you wanted to play with some everyday shades mixed with pops of colour and now we have her Chanagement Artistry Palette. Now we have a brand new colour story with 16 shades for £17.00.
Compared to the original palette with 16 instead of 24 shades it is a little smaller but personally I like the size, it's easy to travel with however because it is smaller this time it does not include a mirror which is typical in a Morphe palette anyway. The palette is named after a dance term and as we can see compared to the original palette, this colour story seems more mature to me focusing on deeper tones instead of pops of colour from the original colour story.
Personally I love the colours that Maddie picked this time round because it looks more like a Autumn / Winter palette whereas the original palette was more Spring / Summer colour vibes. At the moment I love playing around with the green and purple tones in this palette because mixed together creates a very unique smokey eye I haven't worn before. But I have to admit when I finally spotted this palette on the Morphe website I was so surprised to see it because I didn't see it advertised anywhere which is really weird since the palette in 2020 had a massive advertising campaign.
I really like this palette and though it is smaller then her first palette I'm glad she only chose colours she likes and not filler colours where 2 shades are almost identical. If you were looking to try a Maddie palette like I mentioned before this one is also £7.00 cheaper then the original one so a great price for a festive gift! I'm excited to play around with this palette more and create some seasonal looks. If you want to see any colours featured in a tutorial let me know.
Lots of love,
Bella xx

Self-searching: Vingarden Wu presents 'AMOMENTO: Pearl Roots II' , photographed by Maya Sørensen. January/2024.
Tumblr media
In a dazzling fusion of tradition and contemporary eco-conscious fashion, our latest collection, presented by the visionary Vingarden Wu, unfolds 11 looks, each weaving a distinctive story that resonates with the soul. Inspired by the enchanting world of traditional Korean folk art known as "Minhwa," Wu's personal journey adds a unique depth to the narrative.
Tumblr media
For this one, Wu shares, "I wanted to share a personal experience with my beloved grandmother, and her awe-inspiring interpretation of life. When I was just a little girl in my '한복' (han-bok), she inspired me to be something that came from within my soul, and that truly spoke for me what words could never express."
Tumblr media
Wu's grandmother hailed from a family of '해녀' (hae-nyeo), female divers in the South Korean province of Jeju. They are known for their independent spirit and determination, representing the semi-matriarchal family structure of Jeju. Wu fondly recalls, "When I first encountered a Haenyeo, she was just coming back to shore in her black scuba diving gear with all these corals, shellfish, and treasures she found. That was very inspiring. She looked like some mythical creature; it was just so amazing."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This personal connection translated into key aquatic themes within the collection, featuring coral and shell-shaped gowns alongside black bodysuits reminiscent of scuba and wetsuit gear. Motifs derived from both flora and fauna, as well as otherworldly discoveries beneath the water's surface.
Tumblr media
Drawing from her grandmother's breathtaking Korean madreperola dressing table, Wu reminisces about the beautiful memories. The collection incorporates Abaca banana tree fabric from the Philippines, commonly used for ship ropes and fish nets, along with deadstock and recycled Preciosa crystals.
Tumblr media
Wu, a sino-Korean artist, reveals her cultural background, stating, "My mother is Chinese, and my father is South Korean. Despite growing up closer to Chinese culture, I still have a significant Korean heritage present in my life."
Tumblr media
Looking towards the future, Wu emphasizes her commitment to sustainability, expressing, "It requires a lot of study, so it's not something that I could accomplish in one season. It's gonna be something that's a gradual process, but hopefully for the next few years, I want to go full sustainable and develop and source more sustainable ways and sustainable materials to create my masterpieces."
Tumblr media
As each look unfolds, a story of conscientious design, personal heritage, and cultural richness emerges, bringing to life a harmonious blend of tradition and sustainability. The collection invites fashion enthusiasts to embrace the artistry of Minhwa, woven with threads of tradition, and propelled forward with a commitment to a sustainable future.

PHOTOGRAPHY RESEARCH PT.3
JOSHUA WILKS
Joshua Wilks is a self-taught photographer and filmmaker from London and he’s an all over the place type of guy, refusing to stick to one style and not limit himself creatively. His work does usually have humorous, playful and colourful aspects to them that particularly scream “Joshua Wilks”. He’s constantly pushing the ideas of fashion and beauty, working on personal projects and projects with huge brand names like makeup brands Estée Lauder and Tom Ford Beauty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The body of work I will be analysing though is ‘Talk Show Beauty’ for Sleek Magazine which is a European magazine focused on the arts and fashion and photography. Talk Show Beauty is actually a filmed piece as well, seemingly satirical and over the top characters are being interviewed wearing the beautiful artful makeup of Ana Takahashi and dressed in eccentric fashion. The set is made to look like an old pop culture 2000s aesthetic talk show or reality show with a card below the participate with name, age and a quote. The still shots are displayed in a 2 by 2 grid with subtitles which tell us literally what the people are saying (and it’s typically very outrageous and perhaps poking at stereotypes) but also they’ve been directed to stay expressive and smile, grimace and frown at the camera, giving the full range of emotions for us to enjoy the makeup artists work. This series is just very aesthetically pleasing to me and I think it’s super fun to look at with the gradient background and edited pieces to add to the talk show effect. Although also taken and directed by Joshua Wilks this series is a coming together of the artistry of a big group of people to help the lives and characters of the models to life which is what makes the shots so interesting.
This series reminds me that it’s not just taking the photograph sometimes it’s about capturing the story and people through oddities like clothes, makeup, their thoughts and opinions and it’s important to let these things shine through in portraiture.
