Plan on playing the game Lost in Play? I haven't played it yet, but someone on the Hilda subreddit said that it's similar to the aforementioned series.

I haven't played it yet, but it is absolutely on my list! I agree it has Hilda vibes, but if you want games that are similar to Hilda, I also massively recommend:

Roki, which is a puzzle game about a girl named Tove exploring a fantasy Scandanavian wilderness and befriending various fantasy creatures to find her missing brother, has a lot of similar vibes to Hilda; it's a really beautiful game, and has a story that's amazing in its own right.

And:

Alba: A Wildlife Adventure, which is a short open-world adventure about a girl named Alba documenting wildlife in order to stop a planned development on her island. It's not a supernatural setting, like Hilda and Roki, but it has a lot of similar themes about listening to nature and helping others, IMO, and it's just really sweet and comfortable in that specific way (and Alba skips if you get her up to speed, which is just adorable).

So ye, if you're a fan of Hilda, I highly recommend these two :))

Lost in Play (cartoon-inspired graphical adventure) has been released for PC (Steam, GOG) and for the Nintendo Switch

This is yet another entry in the series of posts unrelated to the actual blog and with some liberties when it comes to the tags - because this is a special case and because why not :P

Lost in Play is a point and click graphical adventure videogame which got my attention a few months ago when I tried the demo, which I really, really liked. In a previous post of mine I’ve already elaborated in detail why this game is very promising in my opinion and how it relates to a lot of the cartoon animated series I’m a fan of, but just to say it in one sentence for the sake of this post: this game is a perfect amalgamation of graphical adventures and the cartoon style of these TV series (which the game takes inspiration from), combined together with a memorable charm that’s original to this game.

It’s a title that I felt like it managed to tick all the checkboxes of my personal wishlist for a cartoon tie-in game - but as an original work, and for this reason I felt like it could be interesting for other fans of the some of the fandoms I follow too. Which is why I’m sharing it here for a second time, hoping that some of you might be interested as well.

So here it is: the game is now available for sale on PC (the storefronts being Steam and GOGdotcom) and on the Nintendo Switch. I’ll have to reblog this post after I manage to finish it myself in order to confirm whether I can recommend it after a playthrough, but for now: I sincerely suggest putting it in your wishlist or giving the store page a read to see if it can be up your valley. For me, it definitely was, and maybe that’ll be the same for you too.

Nex Benedict's death wasn't just for being transgender, it was for being native too. 2 Spirits are revered in many native cultures and it is a native-specific identity. This wasn't just a hate crime against trans & NB individuals, this was also a hate crime against Natives of Turtle Island.

You cannot separate Nex's trans identity from their native identity - this is a case of MMIWG2S (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2 Spirits).

Native children being killed at school is nothing new, so it's equally important to talk about Nex's native identity and being intersectional, this is a devastating tragedy for indigenous people, the queer community & especially those of us who are both indigenous and queer.

May Nex rest in peace 🪶
