I'm probably like eight years too late to make this comment (or maybe not, with all the Sweet Baby garbage that's been in the news lately), but the reason I get so annoyed at vocal anti-Gamergate types spreading misinformation about or oversimplfications of Gamergate is because it's completely pointless. Gamergate would still be a horrid anti-feminist tire fire if they didn't misrepresent how it went down. There is literally no advantage gained in not sticking to the facts.
