You know, there are some days where I feel like I wish I was a caracal 24/7, but most days, I think that I could never. I love my human form most days. Without it, I couldn't make art or play music or write stories. That's all human, and that's some of my favorite things to do. I couldn't live without creative expression. I love my therianthropy, but I could never leave my human body. Not in this life. Just give me some cat ears and a tail and some dragon wings and I'll be okay :3

Honestly I tried to read about the relationship of the Felis species, but all the hybridization makes the situation very hard to understand.

[Felis catus:] Domesticated mostly from a lineage of Felis lybica lybica from Mesopotamia. (A revised taxonomy of Felidae' (2017))

The domestic cat is arbitrarily considered either as a subspecies of F. silvestris (Felis silvestris catus) or as a distinct species (Felis catus). (European wildcat and domestic cat: Do they really differ? (2017))

European wildcats, Felis silvestris, can hybridize with domestic cats, Felis catus, which was domesticated from the African wildcat, Felis lybica, to produce fertile offspring. [...] Indeed, domestic cats are genetically closer to Felis lybica, a species that has evolved in a different ecological and evolutionary context than Felis silvestris. (A common statement on anthropogenic hybridization of the European wildcat (Felis silvestris) (2023))

I have realized that ironically, while the cat is one of the most known and loved animals/pets. The Wildcat still lingers in the shadows and is a very little noticed animal. Especially in the popular media.

We need more wild cat media, not just domestic cats, because those are all I see.

(And I'm referring to the "Felis silvestris", the others at least people can spot them).

And it seems that people have forgotten or do not realize that the cats we know are domestic animals, that have little or nothing to do in nature (I include stray/feral cats, because they are still domestic cats) and that their wild relative/ancestor exists and is still alive.

It's not like with dogs, there are dog media and there are wolf media, people know how to differentiate one from the other. But what about cats, can you locate any popular stories where wild cats are even in the wild (TRULY wild, not feral domesticated ones)?

And it's kind of sad, wild cats deserve to be noticed and recognized. Sadly many of them are in a vulnerable state and are disappearing.

I would like to see a xenofiction story with wild cats living their lives, hunting hares, taking on lynx, living in wild territory, doing things of their species that emphasize how they are different from their domesticated descendants.

Although I doubt that something like this will happen for a long time, it is one of those cases where you just have to say "If I don't do it, no one else will".

Macy is a Bengal tiger who is cheerful and vibe-looking. She likes to do her vibe-looking features, boogieing and partying in the dance arena with her friends, having her big party and making hearts. She is voiced by Ashleigh Ball.

Lydia is an African wildcat who is playful and sarcastic at all times. She likes to skate around Catilandi and inside of the Catilandi Vibes Studio, wearing her stylish sunglasses that make her look cool and being more "sisterly" with her own sass. She is voiced by Andrea Libman.
