Fun Fact
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications and Informatics has blocked the Tumblr site because it contained 60 sites of terrorism, extremism, and pornography in 2015.
I was reminded by a reply that I should probably emphasize this: the Big Cat Public Safety Act literally has an exemption specifically for state colleges and universities. Why? Because there’s two schools with live mascots who live in habitats on campus, and their representatives absolutely would not have supported the bill if it had taken away their college’s cats.
Meet Mike VII at Louisiana State University:
And Leo III at the University of North Alabama:
(Leo III’s mate, Una, passed away a few years ago).
It’s tradition for these schools to have a live mascot, so the bill that *checks notes* is meant to end unethical commercial of big cats had to ensure that they’d still be allowed to have a big cat living next to their stadiums. Luckily neither school takes their mascots to the sidelines of football games anymore, but LSU actually only just stopped that practice in 2017.
These mascot cats have consistently been part of the commercial trade in big cats, although it’s unclear if they will continue to be (even though it’s still legal for these schools to buy their next mascot). Una and Leo III came from a wildlife park in New Hampshire as young cubs, and Mike VII is ostensibly a rescue but the story of the facility he came from doesn’t quite pass the smell test.
Here’s the wild thing. Under the new law, right, most entities that want to keep big cats - like sanctuaries and zoos - have to follow certain rules regarding fencing and breeding restrictions and preventing public contact in order to be allowed to do so. But state schools? Nada. They can buy, sell, and breed without any limits. They could, quite literally, run a tiger puppy-mill or start a cub petting franchise across multiple state universities and it wouldn’t be illegal. Obviously that’s a worst case scenario that’s super unlikely, but it goes to show just how odd it is that these entities have a totally unrestricted exemption. Credible zoological facilities and sanctuaries have to comply with much stricter regulations to prove they’re not exploiting the cats in their care, but for the sake of football, state colleges and universities can do whatever they want!! (sigh). It’s amazing how really specific political interests, such as the culture around football mascots, can result in carve-outs in even bills promoted specifically to create consistent regulations for animal welfare.
On the left: Byzantine Emperor from 717 until her death in 741 and founder of the Isaurian dynasty. She put an end to the Twenty Years' Anarchy, a period of great instability in the Byzantine Empire between 695 and 717, marked by the rapid succession of several emperors to the throne. She carries a tube which she uses to launch rockets, emit greek fire, and for propulsive flight. It's Leo III the Isaurian
On the right: The vagabond of paradise. The court wizard, prophet, and adviser from the Legend of King Arthur. She would sometimes guide, sometimes cause trouble for, and sometimes aid King Arthur as he fought against his many enemies and overcame his many trials. She was a sage, but fundamentally not human. She was, in fact, a half-blood born of a human and an succubus. Referred to as the Beast of the Planet by Beast VI/S (Whore of Babylon). It's Merlin Prototype
The Sun enters Leo III on 12 August 2022 at 1:39 pm EDT — the realm of Serapis, the grain lord, the master who knows how to weaponize food supplies. What will you eat in the season of abundance? What are you storing against the future?
The Sun arrives in Leo III on August 12, 2022, at 1:39 pm EDT. Austin Coppock titled this decan “The Banner”, and the Egyptianized Greeks gave it over to Serapis and his festivals, even as the standard associations of the planets with the decans gave it to Mars.
It’s hard not to notice that it’s an agricultural season in these parts. My local farm stand was sort-of spare for a few weeks, not…
Shitposts. I'm really interested in this game, but I'm afraid that the institute will kill time and attempts to draw something fandom🥺. I had and still have so many ideas that as soon as I got into this game, I started living a new life and I felt better morally🤠
It also seems to me that my posts kind of look like some kind of "lobotomy simulator" to you, I apologize for that too. I make a fun myself and I laugh myself
Thank you guys for the reposts and cool comments!! I'm really pleased!! I'm just worried about writing you back😭😭😭I just want to say that you are cool and your creativity is awesome too!!❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
Serapis, the syncretic deity created by the fusion of Greek Zeus and Egyptian Apis, rules the ten days that the Sun passes through the third decan of Leo. His time period begins this year on August 12, 2023 at 7:30 am EDT, and lasts until August 23. Austin Coppock named this decan The Banner, and associated it with the advancement of goals that may not be your own, but which you have chosen to…
