Kilkea Castle, Ireland. Too dreamy. I attended a wedding here this weekend and wanted to stay forever 💜

The Wizard Earl is said to return to Kilkea Castle every seventh year after his death, mounted on a silvery-white horse. The castle is now owned by an American businessman who spent 35 MILLION bucks renovating it into a resort.

Kilkea Castle, near Kilkea, County Kildare, Ireland.

Sir Walter de Riddlesford built a motte and bailey castle there in 1180. A grand daughter of his married Maurice Fitzgerald, 3rd baron of Offaly, so the Manor of Kilkea came into the possession of the Fitzgeralds (earls of Kildare), and was to remain in the family for over 700 years.

The castle and estate was sold by the Fitzgerald family in the early 1960s and has recently been sold again.

So found out today I will be staying in Kilkea Castle in Ireland. It will be in early Fall.  Hoping I will be negative then and am psyched to be going.  As my Walter Mitty life continues.  I grew up with the new Irish Ambassador just appointed from the States.  A lot of us are going.  Does anyone know the Castle, area, and where to go if you do not drink for fun.  An exceedingly small group of us.  I love Ireland and am excited to go back. Most in this large group are drinkers.  Which is fine. And I will be golfing one day.

We have the usual meet and greet and tea/garden party.  Do any of my mutuals live or work near there?  Would love to buy YOU a drink.
