this is for the neighbours au kksk prompt that I really need to finish. nsfw-ish but mainly just awkward fluff

'Why are your hands shaking so much?' she asked softly, when she noticed the tremble in them as he laid her down in his bed and slowly pulled the shirt up and over her head.

'I'm nervous,' he said simply, even though in the same breath of those words he bent low to put his mouth tight and wet against her neck, clearly working quite well through his nerves.

She sighed in wonder and arched in approval. 'I thought I was going to be the nervous one.'

'You would be, if you had such a pretty girl in your bed.'

The dogs kept trying to climb up onto the bed while he undressed her, and crept back when they thought he wasn't paying attention. Until he finally had her underwear about her ankles and his priorities shifted completely to getting between her thighs.

And then the dogs all jumped onto the bed at once and made her squeal for an entirely different reason than the fact that he was masterful with that tongue and those hands. But it didn’t matter. It alleviated the pressure, the tension. They managed to laugh it off and lay beside each other for a while, and it was intimate in other ways. Just being here, naked in front of him.

'Sorry. I'm in my head a bit. It's - been a while,' he admitted.

'It’s okay. Me too. But I, um… I like you a lot,’ she whispered that last part and wondered if it was something that should have remained implied, but he seemed to appreciate the reassurance. ‘Obviously. That should be obvious by now.’

He smiled and relaxed into it. ‘I like you, too.’

‘Have you ever…' she stopped herself, feeling heat rise unbearably on her face. 'Nevermind.'

'What?'

'No, it's lame. It's really lame.'

'My dogs literally just cock blocked me. Nothing is going to be more embarrassing.'

She laughed again, and put a hand over her eyes and asked the ceiling, 'Have you ever been in love?'

'Hmmm… no. I don't think so.'

'Do you think that kind of love even exists?'

Kakashi didn't answer straight away. 'Not really,' he said, a careful edge to his voice. 'Do you?'

'No. I thought I did - I thought I had that… happily ever after thing going for me. I was young and stupid. But my issue is, I… I fall in love with everyone I meet just a little bit. Does... that make sense?'

He smiled again, and reached over the space between them to stroke his fingertips down the curve of her shoulder. 'Yeah. It does.'

“I would thank you for being such an idiot if you hadn’t hurt her so badly.” Kakashi said, dipping his jaw a tiny fraction, body lax as he leaned against a support post, arms crossed. He wasn’t, but he looked relaxed.

“I won’t be so stupid again.” Sasuke shot back, lifting his chin, shoulders tense, fingers flexing restlessly. He showed his anger and tension.

“I’m glad to hear it.” Kakashi said mildly.

Sasuke’s eyes narrowed, and was that . . . a hint of red threatening in them for a moment? “And Kakashi? When you are . . . I’ll be there.” he said, hard and low, like a threat.

Sakura’s brows rose and she stepped out the back door.

I'm having a real rough time rn and probably will for the next month or so but thank you so so much for reaching out <3 I am absolutely still in love with DoF as well so don't worry about me not coming back to it! I just needed a break which is turning out to be longer than expected due to RL lol I at least managed to go back to writing in general so I feel like I might come back to it soon! r: Shizune had left Tsunade’s side to join them and his mom followed her, chatting amiably. She wasn’t dressed in shinobi clothes and he didn’t know why that felt jarring. When she’d come back she’d been wearing simple pants and a long sleeved shirt, he didn’t know what about the light blue dress she was wearing gave him pause. Maybe it was how delicate she looked in contrast to him and his dad. Or that in the few stories his father had told him about her, he had always said she was a great kunoichi, going as far as always wearing a mask during missions.

It was one of the reasons Kakashi wore his.

Well, it had been at first. Later it was mostly because he didn’t want to be recognised as his father’s son and by then it had just become a habit. He was always in his uniform, it made sense to always wear the mask.

“Kakashi-sensei,” Naruto whispered loudly next to him. “Your mom is so young! And she’s so pretty too.” Kakashi knew he was only expressing his admiration but he still slanted him a look that made him sit back in his chair instantly.

“Thank you, Naruto-kun.” Midori beamed at him, her cheeks the slightest of pinks. Her smile softened as she turned to look at Kakashi. “Aren’t you going to take the mask off to eat, my son?”

A hush fell over the table almost instantly and quite a few pairs of eyes turned to them. Kakashi swallowed dryly. He had no idea what to answer. Anyone who knew him—and even quite a few that didn’t—knew that he never took off the mask in front of anybody. He’d always brushed away the questions with an eye crinkle and subterfuge but he couldn’t quite muster it with her. Not so soon anyways.

Sakura cleared her throat and he felt relief wash over him before she even began speaking.

“Ah, Midori-san,” she smiled benignly at his mother, “unfortunately Kakashi likes to try and be all dark and mysterious. This is one of his eccentricities.” She shrugged good naturally and continued eating even as he protested.

“Try?” He said at the same time Naruto guffawed and Sai uttered a small, “One of many, I’d say.”

He glared at his team when Sakura turned innocent looking eyes at him. Traitors. He thought she’d come to his rescue.

28. Do you need background noise to write? If so, what do you listen to?

r: I don't need it but I like having some of those ambience songs on whenever I'm writing for KakaSaku or even a specific playlist. Rn, I'm listening to Canto da Floresta | Musica Xamanica com Tambor e Flauta Nativa and my favorite "ambience" video was this one here. I love writing to rain sounds lol.

30. What is some of the best writing advice you’ve read or received? Why does it work for you?

r: Let a first draft be a first draft. It's not meant to be the best thing you've ever written, that first word vomit is only supposed to guide you into making things better later on. Unfortunately, I'm a huge perfectionist and it often paralyzes me so I can't just fucking move on or even gather strength to do something. Looking at my first drafts as first drafts and nothing else took a lot of work on my part but I managed to get to a place where I'm comfortable writing something bad in order to move on and then come back later to make it better. Doing sprints helped me TREMENDOUSLY. Basically, you write for 20 min uninterrupted and your only objective isn't to write something amazing but to write as much as you can and as fast as you can. And then you measure your word per minute count and try to get better. Before long, you'll learn to let mistakes go (if you make a typo, there's no reason to go back to it yet, just keep going) and just let the ideas flow. Sometimes I don't use everything I write but I recycle it into other chapters or even other stories.
