“Put a finger down if you've ever made out with two people within 24 hours of each other,” Taylor said, glancing around at the group of girls.
Gigi, Nicole, and Taylor all lowered a finger as instructed. The girls were circled around the deck of a large boat, hanging out and getting to know each other. It was fairly late but the warm summer weather kept the evening air at Hopper’s Cove still comfortable for now.
After she finished laughing, one of Belly’s debutante friends spoke up. “Okay, put a finger down if you've ever used a stuffed animal to...” she trailed off. “… you know,” the girl concluded boldly.
“His name was Harry Bear Styles,” Taylor defended, putting another finger down.
The girls all laughed as they debated if Taylor having had a name for the bear was normal.
Y/n leaned back against the side of the boat as she took in the way the moonlight reflected on the water beside them. It was a peaceful scene.
“Okay, put a finger down if you've ever had sex.”
“If you've ever been to third?”
“Put a finger down if you've ever gone to second.”
The questions came one after another, hardly enough time for anyone to even comply with the instructions for the first one before the next came. Y/n noticed the way they all seemed directed at Belly, each deb’s eyes staring at her to see if she was putting any down. It wasn’t a surprise to see the debutantes were more interested in Belly’s answers than each other’s; most of them knew each other thoroughly already, but Belly was new to the deb scene. It also came as no surprise that they didn’t seem to care about y/n or Taylor’s answers to their interrogation-like questions; they weren’t debs after all. As far as the girls saw it, Taylor and y/n weren’t even “true” Cousin’s Beach girls since they’d been invited rather than having grown up here.
Y/n and Taylor shared an empathetic expression as the questions weighed in the air. It was clear the debutantes were judging Belly for not having put a finger down to any of the questions. It wasn’t anything Belly should be concerned or ashamed about, much less made to feel that way over. Y/n tried to send the girls a silent look that would make it clear they needed to back off a bit. But, as expected, the debutantes were ignoring y/n completely.
When y/n turned back to look at Taylor, she noticed the look in her eyes. Y/n watched as Taylor silently mouthed “You and Jere?”. She instantly knew what she was getting at. The debutantes were known for having a thing for the Fisher boys; understandably. They also didn’t know y/n well and hadn’t been around her or her and Jeremiah much since they started dating. In fact, it was Belly’s suggestion that y/n get to know these girls better, ideally becoming friend with them, that brought y/n here. Outside of Taylor, the Fishers, and the Conklins, y/n didn’t know anyone in Cousin’s.
The awkward shuffling of Nicole’s feet against the deck of the boat helped y/n refocus on Taylor’s unspoken question. It would be a good change of topic, and Belly clearly could benefit from that. She nodded at Taylor, earning a smile in response.
Taylor smirked as she looked around the boat before side eyeing y/n teasingly. “Put a finger down if you've ever made out with Jeremiah Fisher,” she purred.
When y/n’s ring finger hit the base of her palm, the girls all gasped.
“Wait you two got together?” Dara, one of the debutantes asked, her eyes wide. She leaned forward, arms resting on her legs, visibly intrigued.
The plan had a worked.
“They have been together! Jeremiah has been in love with her for like forever,” Taylor commented happily. As a friend of y/n’s, she’d always been supportive of her healthy relationship with Jeremiah. She shifted her focus across the board and chuckled, “sorry Gigi”.
“No, it’s fine,” Gigi said. Yet, it was clear she was not pleased. She had a newly-present scowl of jealousy on her contoured face. It was no secret she’d long harbored unrequited feelings for the younger Fisher brother.
“I was wondering why he seemed so preoccupied this summer,” Marissa commented, a small smile on her lips.
“And it explains why he’s always staring off at the y/job/station,” Gigi acknowledged, forcing a kind expression to take over her face.
Y/n bashfully bit her lip as she gazed down at her lap. Y/job/station was where y/n had been working for the summer since she needed some extra income and everyone seemed to have some obligation to attend to. She knew her working there was the main reason her boyfriend Jeremiah had decided to actually work this summer instead of just relaxing. He’d said so himself when teasing her about how she wasn’t letting him skate by on his father’s finances anymore. But, had he really been staring over at her while she was working? There was no reason for Gigi to lie about it. And her jealousy about Jeremiah allegedly staring at y/n was blatantly obvious. So, it must be true.
The girls laughed loudly at y/n’s bashful reaction. “You’ve made out with him and this is what flusters you?” Marissa joked lightly, her polite smile showing that she was teasing. The question made y/n even more bashful, only igniting the innocent giggles further.
“So, you’re with Jeremiah?” Nicole asked, redirecting the conversation.
Y/n nodded with a proud smile. “Yeah, we’ve been together for awhile,” she answered softly.
Nicole hummed. She tilted her head as her eyes focused on y/n. “So, you’re probably pretty close to Conrad too then, yeah?” She inquired.
“We’ve all been friends for years,” Belly spoke up as y/n questioningly looked over at Taylor.
Nicole smiled sympathetically at Belly. “Right, but you can’t seem to get a solid answer out of him for me,” she pointed out, not knowing how badly it stung the newest debutante. Nicole shifted her attention back to y/n.
“I’m sorry?” Y/n asked, not caring for how drastically the tone had changed. Or the way Nicole’s interview of her prompted all the debutantes to silence as they visibly waited in anticipation for her answer. She felt Taylor shift closer to her, making her look her way briefly before facing Nicole again.
“Do you think he’s, Conrad, is actually into me,… or?” Nicole asked directly. Her face displayed her embarrassment over having to ask such a thing, especially to someone she barely knew. But, the hopeful look in her eyes simultaneously showed why she wanted to ask.
Y/n swallowed thickly as she mentally reminded herself not to look over at Belly instinctively. “Oh, uh.. I don’t..” she rambled. She slowly glanced at each of the girls and their eager eyes. “I’m sorry… “ she began in a soft shy tone. “I don’t really know those details of Conrad’s life,” y/n said, praying it was enough to stop further questioning.
“Conrad’s a closed book,” Taylor stated with a forced airy laugh.
Nicole signed but nodded.
“Enough about the Fisher boys,” Taylor decided. Her last topic change hadn’t gone the way she wanted. It was time to try again. “Put a finger down if you’ve ever been skinny dipping,” she instructed, lowering a finger as she met Nicole’s stare.
Y/n let out a tiny sigh of relief as the topic successfully changed, Nicole putting a finger down.
“Put a finger down if you've ever gone skinny-dipping at Hopper's Cove,” Nicole amended, holding eye contact with Taylor.
“Is that a dare?” Taylor laughed.
“Absolutely,” Nicole smirked playfully. She turned to see the water outside their boat. “Let’s go,” she hummed, rising from her seat.

“Oh, my God, I knew my boy'd rally!” Steven screamed when Jeremiah showed up to the party.
Jeremiah had been at home upset that y/n had chosen to go out with the girls instead of spending the night with him tonight. But, after thinking it through, and Susannah lovingly scolding him, he got over himself. And what better way to kill time than a party?!
Jeremiah cheered as he dried the dribble of alcohol on his lips. “It's an ice luge! Come try it! Steven, come on!”

“I was so worried it would be freezing,” y/n admitted. She tilted her head back to let the water soak her hair again. “But, it’s not that bad!” She laughed.
Nicole nodded and smiled at y/n. “I know, right?!” She agreed excitedly. “It feels nice actually,” the deb stated confidently.
Taylor stated her agreement and Belly simply nodded before splashing around. The girls’ laughter rang out through the moonlight atmosphere as they continued to enjoy their night.
Gigi jogged down the dock. She began removing her shirt as she laughed at Nicole’s shock of being hit by an unexpected splash from Taylor. “Hey, watch out for jellyfish,” Gigi commented, setting her top next to the other girls’ clothing a foot from the edge of the dock. “I do not want to have to pee on any of you guys.”
Belly laughed loudly. “Ewww,” she gushed, shaking her head.
“The other two girls missed out,” Taylor attested. Y/n nodded silently as she closed her eyes. She focused on the feeling of the water gently caressing her fully-exposed skin as it glided across her. She extended her neck and rested the back of her head against the top of the waves. Since she was nude under the water, she didn’t bring her body up to fully float on the surface. But, she let her legs and hips become slack, allowing the water to raise them slightly beneath the modesty of the water’s surface.
“I know,” Nicole scoffed. She looked over at Gigi as the girl began to remove her pants, wondering what was taking so long. “I figured Dara wouldn't, but Marissa?” She asked rhetorically.
“Yeah,” Taylor agreed. “That's what I thought,” she explained. She had tried to get a feel and understanding of each of Belly’s new friends. Her analysis lead her to the same expectation that Nicole stated having had.
“Nicole!” Gigi called out. She bent down to see the phone screen better after having heard it beep.
“Yeah?” Nicole replied, starting to swim over to her friend.
“Conrad's texting you,” Gigi informed Nicole after seeing his contact name on the screen.
“Okay, coming!” Nicole smiled. She quickened her strokes as she rushed over to see what the message said.
Y/n opened her eyes to look at Belly to see how she was doing over Conrad texting Nicole this late at night.
“This is so nice,” Belly said absentmindedly as she spun around in the water.
“Have to admit Belly, l like your new friends,” Taylor confessed, looking over at y/n for her feedback.
Y/n smiled softly towards Taylor. She wasn’t sure about the girls just yet. She didn’t care for the way Nicole and Belly were in love with the same guy. Not that it was either of their faults, or anyone’s fault per se. But, it felt pretty clear that if things went down, the girls would instantly side with Nicole over Belly. And y/n worried about that for Belly’s sake. But, she was at least happy Belly was still enjoying her night despite Conrad’s interruptive text.
“I knew you would,” Belly smirked smugly.
“They all seem to have moved on about pestering you about things with you and Conrad,” Taylor stated, having looked at the situation with Nicole much differently than y/n had.
Belly hummed carelessly as she spun back to Taylor and y/n. “Because there’s nothing to move on from, right?” She argued, trying to remind herself to resist getting feelings for Conrad again.
“Right,” Taylor nodded happily.
“They seemed supportive of you and Jeremiah too,” Belly stated, smiling at y/n hopefully. It was clear she wanted y/n to like her new friends the way Taylor did. And she hoped this act of support would encourage that.
“Even Gigi,” Taylor murmured quietly, knowing the girl was not too far behind them. “Whose veins just about exploded when she heard,” she added comically.
Y/n giggled and nodded, having seen Gigi’s comical reaction as well. She glanced over towards the dock to see where said girl was, only to not see anyone there. “Uh, guys…-,” y/n began quietly. However, she was cut off when the headlights from Nicole’s car flashed across the water the three of them were still in. She squinted and saw Nicole was driving and Gigi was in the passenger seat. The car had been started and before y/n could even find the words to communicate her observations, the car began to back out.
“I knew they were bitches!” Taylor huffed. She spun sharply, sending waves outwards from her body. She quickly began swimming to the dock.
“What's happening?” Belly asked cluelessly. Her head whipped between y/n and Taylor.
“No, no…. No,” Y/n mumbled, getting nervous.
“Taylor, what's going on?” Belly asked again.
“They took everything,” Taylor explained as she leaned her arm on the dock. “Except for your phone,” she noticed. She picked up the device and realized why Nicole and Gigi had abandoned them. “Which has a really incriminating text from Conrad.”
“Wait, what does it say?” Belly questioned, voice dripping with intrigue.
Y/n hurriedly swam over to the dock. Her wide eyes scanned around them to try to find something they could use to wear home. The girls may have taken all of their clothes and y/n’s phone, but that didn’t mean it was time to give up. There surely had to be a way out of this with some dignity still in tact.
"My mom did ask me to ask you to the ball, but that's not why I did it,” Taylor read aloud. The mocking tone of her voice expressed her sentiments over the text from Conrad. “I did it because I wanted to,” she finished, rolling her eyes.
“Oh my God,” Belly grinned, resting her forearms on the edge of the wooden dock.
“Belly, concentrate,” Taylor scolded. After having seen the look on y/n’s face from her position behind Belly, Taylor frowned. “Y/n, you good?” She asked worriedly.
“Mmmhm,” y/n hummed falsely. “Just thinking about how screwed we are,” she concluded with a loud sigh.
Belly distractedly giggled gleefully as she stared off into the dark sky.
Taylor huffed in annoyance and smacked Belly’s arm.
“What? What? Okay, okay okay, w-well wha-what do we do?” Belly asked after seeing Taylor’s scolding glare.
“I mean, we cannot walk home naked,” y/n pointed out. They were stuck. She couldn’t call anyone without her phone. And they couldn’t walk anywhere without even the tiniest scrap of clothing to wear.
“It could be worse,” Taylor argued hesitantly.
“Taylor,” Belly groaned as she and y/n stared at Taylor in disagreement.
“We’re going,” Taylor determined. She removed herself from the edge of the dock as she prepared to turn and swim to shore.
“What could be worse than this?” Belly rhetorically asked with a loud huff.
“Wait!” Y/n gasped, her eyes landing on a thin layer of material beside the boat they’d been on earlier. It wasn’t ideal, but the large fabric that had been used as a boat cover would make do. “W-what about that?” She asked, pointing over at the dirt covered material beside the abandoned boat.
“Noo,” Taylor whined in a high-pitched voice.
Belly shook her head. “It’s better than being naked,” she said in agreement with y/n. “Let’s do it”.
Y/n bit her lip anxiously when another loud dog began to bark as she, Belly, and Taylor wandered down the dimly lit street. At this point she’d lost count of how many dogs they’d encountered. Yet, each sudden noise had y/n’s nerves soaring.
The trio was huddled together under the dingy and slightly stinky boat cover. Thanks to Nicole and Gigi, they had to walk barefoot down the roughly paved road. The breeze from the late night air had managed to snake its way under and/or through their makeshift coverage so they had curled in on themselves along the way.
“This is so bad. This is bad,” Y/n mumured. She continued to scan the area in order to keep an eye out whatever might be happening around them in the dark.
“I knew those girls were shit,” Taylor complained.
“Okay enough,” Belly sighed. “Okay I get it, you were right”.
Taylor suddenly stopped walking, making y/n and Belly turn to face her. “Why can’t we just call Conrad?” She proposed. “He’s the one who got us into this mess,” Taylor commented.
“I agree,” Y/n said, absentmindedly picking at her cuticles. “We are seriously going to be like murdered or kidnapped or something at this rate,” she panicked.
“No,” Belly groaned dramatically. “Calling Conrad would be too much drama,” she argued.
“I can’t walk two more miles,” Taylor whined, trying to cover her shoulders more with the thin fabric.
“Taylor’s right, let me see your phone Belly,” y/n instructed, extending her hand beneath the curtain of material around her. “I’ll call,” she offered.
“No, you’re both going to have to suck it up,” Belly stated firmly.
“Oh my God!” Taylor whined. She shared an exasperated expression with y/n but trudged on.
Y/n’s frame began to shake. She knew it was a mix between her anxiety and the air hitting her wet skin. The other girls had been going on and on about Conrad being a disaster for playing with Belly and Nicole’s feelings. But y/n was focused solely on trying to keep her breathing and heart rate steady. It was getting to be an increasingly harder job as the sound of some angry man could be heard in background of the street they were.
“Belly,” Y/n pleaded. Her voice crackled, and she had to stifle a sob. When Taylor and Belly quickly looked her way, she sniffled. “Please let me call Jeremiah,” she requested. The desire to attempt to stop her oncoming anxiety attack helped her realize that while she didn’t have her own phone she could use Belly’s since she too had Jeremiah’s number saved.
Belly nodded silently and hurriedly passed y/n the phone.
Y/n walked a few steps to the side, unable to truly distance herself from the girls given they had to share the protection of the boat cover. She scrolled through Belly’s contacts until she found his entry and quickly pressed call. As she placed the phone to her ear to wait, her vision began to blur from the tears in them. This was a disaster.

“Wait, weren’t you out with y/n?” Jeremiah dared to ask the pissed-off-looking Nicole. He was tempted to let her just take his brother aside to talk like she commanded, but he had to know why she wasn’t with y/n and the others anymore.
“I was, she’s still with the girls,” Nicole answered simply. She signaled for Conrad to hurry up. “I just needed to talk to Conrad,” she explained.
Jeremiah sighed in relief now that he knew y/n was still fine and enjoying her night with the girls. He leaned back against the step behind him on the staircase. He tried not to smirk as he watched Conrad reluctantly follow Nicole like a kicked puppy. He loved his brother, but also knew from how much turmoil his brother had been causing Nicole and Belly lately; he had this talk coming.
Conrad and Nicole had just stepped out of the doorway when Jeremiah heard his phone ring as it began to vibrate against his thigh. He lazily reached into his pocket and checked the caller ID. Why was Belly calling? He clicked accept and answered, “hello?”
“J-J… Jere,” y/n whimpered.
Jeremiah’s chest tightened as he heard y/n’s sniffles through the phone. “Woah, babe! Babe, baby, what…” he rambled. He forced himself to take a breath so he could speak coherently. “W-what’s going on? Are you okay?” Jeremiah questioned worriedly.
“N-no,” y/n cried.
“What’s going on Y/n/n? Where are you?” Jeremiah inquired as he jumped up from the stairs and rushed to the door. As he worked his way through the crowd he thought over how much he had to drink. Fortunately had not consumed too much, not enough to keep him from driving safely without having to wait for Conrad -who was the official DD-.
“I…,” y/n choked up, sniffling loudly as she tried to wipe the free-flowing tears from her face. “Jere,” she whimpered, not having heard his voice in a few seconds and her mind too frantic to realize he’d asked her a question.
“I’m here baby,” Jeremiah soothed. “Talk to me, please,” he requested softly.
“I … I need you Jeremiah,” y/n begged. Her hand held the phone painfully tight as her chest shook.
“I’m already on my way to you, babe,” Jeremiah promised lovingly as he started his car. “Just tell me where you are,” he instructed tenderly as he began to back out of his parking spot.
“I… I don’t…,” y/n groaned faintly. “I don’t know,” she confessed shyly.
“O-okay, that’s uhhh.., that’s fine,” Jeremiah reassured as y/n sniffled. “Can you see anything recognizable around you, sweetheart?” He guided.
“N-no,” y/n answered, pointlessly shaking her head. “It… it’s dark,” she explained, her fear ringing out in her words.
“I know,” Jeremiah said as he frowned. The time of day had only added to his worry upon hearing y/n cry as soon he answered the phone. “Tell you what, can you turn location sharing on for Bell’s phone?”
Y/n paused for a moment as a weight in her chest sunk heavily. “Oh, okay, I will, thanks,” she mumbled.
Jeremiah sensed that y/n was planning on hanging up to do as he instructed. He sighed to himself. She clearly wasn’t thinking thoroughly. “Babe, stay on the phone with me, okay?” He advised quickly before she could hang up. “Just put me on speaker while you adjust the settings, yeah?”
“Oh… right,” y/n sniffled. “Duh,” she remarked harshly towards herself as she placed the call on speakerphone.
“Shh, you’re fine y/n/n,” Jeremiah cooed. “You’re doing great.” He gripped the steering wheel tightly as he kept himself from nervously tapping it as he waited. Y/n didn’t need him being in a panicked state as well. She was already struggling. But that was precisely what had Jeremiah so tense and on-edge. He needed to get to his girl.
Tumblr media
Y/n could feel that Belly and Taylor had intentionally sat close to her on either side of her as they sat on the curb. No one said anything. After all, what was there to say? After she’d gotten off the phone with Jeremiah, Belly apologized. Y/n struggled to try to reassure her that it wasn’t Belly’s fault. Thankfully, Taylor caught on to y/n’s intentions and conveyed the message before suggesting they all sit as they waited for Jeremiah to arrive.
Y/n stared at the shrubbery and trees across the road from them. It was barely even visible at this hour. But she found their stillness was slightly calming. Plus, it gave her something to focus on rather than ruminating over the multitude of fears that were screaming inside her mind.
As Jeremiah turned onto the street that Belly’s GPS location showed the girls at, he searched the area that was now lit up by his headlights; in search of y/n. He choked on a gasp as his eyes found her. She was draped in a soiled boat cover, her soaked hair dripping down the front of it, her eyes distant and full of tears, and she was visibly trembling. Whether that was from the cold, her emotions, or something else, Jeremiah wasn’t certain. What he was certain of however was that he should’ve gotten here earlier. Sure y/n had Belly and Taylor with her still. But, she was the only one in tears, the only one shaking. They all looked defeated and embarrassed. Y/n was in far worse shape than they were though.
Jeremiah forced out a choppy exhale as he flung his car door open. He only spared Conrad a minimal glance when his car pulled up beside him. But then his eyes were back on his girl. His far too polite, sometimes overly-trusting, lovingly protective, and all around sweet girl. She didn’t deserve this.
“Shit,” Belly cursed under her breath as she and the other girls looked over to the two sets of headlights. “They’re both here?” She asked Y/n accusatorially.
Y/n shrugged and sniffled. She tried to compose herself enough to state her innocence in this change of events. “I…I only talked to Jere,” she defended weakly.
“Belly,” Taylor scolded sharply, elbowing the girl in the side. “Stop,” she sighed. She offered y/n an apologetic expression on behalf of Belly.
“Oh my God!” Jeremiah exclaimed as he sprinted over. “Y/n, sweetheart, are you okay?” He asked. He shook his head, realizing his mistake. Of course she wasn’t okay. “I.. I mean, of course…,” he sighed.
As Taylor and Belly helped y/n stand up with them, he smiled faintly in appreciation. Jeremiah wanted nothing more than to simply hold y/n. To protect her from any further embarrassment, hurt, worry, from anything. But the predicament with their clothing complicated things. The fact the three girls were all sharing a musty old boat cover prevented that from being a viable option right now. Jeremiah used the minimal light of his headlights to scan y/n as much as he could in the dark. He stepped closer and cupped her cheek, tenderly drying a few tears with his thumb.
“What are you doing here?” Taylor sassed. She squinted at Conrad as he approached with a bag of clothes in his right hand.
“Nicole…. Uhhh…” Conrad began cautiously. He rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand.
Jeremiah moved his hands to y/n’s shoulders. He respectfully made sure his hands didn’t touch any of her exposed skin and instead remained on the loosely wrapped boat cover excess that pooled there. He searched her eyes worriedly as he watched her turn her gaze to Conrad, seemingly wanting to know his answer as well. Jeremiah hummed softly as he craned his neck to look over at his brother.
Conrad glanced around at everyone as they stared at him expectantly. “She told me about ummm…and…,” he mumbled as he waved his hand around towards the girls.
Jeremiah narrowed his eyes at Conrad in question. He still hadn’t heard why the girls were stranded. All y/n said when asking him to come was that she needed him. Even after vying a bit for more information on his drive here, she’d only mentioned their group went skinny dipping and the three of them lost their clothes. He didn’t know where the other girls were, if they’d had their clothes taken too, or what Conrad had to do with all of this. But, the fact Nicole had been so pissed when showing up at the party and the fact Conrad had a bag of what seemed to be the girls’ clothes was damning evidence of a plausible explanation. But Jeremiah couldn’t focus on that right now. He certainly would later. Whoever all was behind making y/n this distraught would certainly be in for it soon. But for now, he needed to simply be there for her.
Jeremiah frowned, his brows furrowed. Y/n’s eyes weren’t on Conrad anymore, but her gaze was distant again. Her shoulders shook under the boat cover beneath his hands. “Sweetheart,” he whispered, moving one hand to her cheek. “Can you look at me?” Not getting anything in response, he tried again. “Y/n, just focus on me okay? I need you to talk to me, please”.
Taylor sighed softly. “It’s been a long night, Jeremiah,” she informed him, not caring to jokingly mispronounce his name the way she normally would. “Can you both just…?” She asked, looking between the boys.
Jeremiah nodded in understanding. He accepted the corner of the cover that Belly passed his way. He nodded his head at Conrad to signal for him to do the same with the other corner. He tried to steady his breathing and calm his anger so that when y/n was done, he could be there for her. He heard the girls stumbling around behind him and Conrad as they tried to dress.
Conrad glanced nervously over at his brother with a shy remorseful expression. He nearly winced when he was met with a hesitant but sharp glare as Jeremiah shook his head.
“You’re so not going with Conrad, right?” Taylor quietly asked Belly, her tone coated in a manner that showed she was instructing Belly rather than asking.
“Taylor,” Belly whispered. When Taylor looked her way, she nodded her head towards y/n as the girl stumbled while she worked to dress herself with shaking hands and presumably cloudy vision from her tear-filled eyes.
Taylor frowned; she felt horrible for y/n. She knew how bad her anxiety had been tonight. She nodded. “Fine, Conrad it is,” Taylor agreed.
“Wh-what?” Y/n asked, feeling eyes on her.
“Nothing,” Taylor smiled softly. “Just saying we’re going with Conrad,” she answered, helping hold y/n steady as she tried putting her shoes on. “You just let your boy take care of you, yeah?” She encouraged.
“Th-tha-thank-,” y/n began, sniffling as she tried to paste on a small smile for her friend.
“‘Course, girl,” Taylor hummed as she squeezed y/n’s clothed shoulder supportively. Seeing that they were all dressed now, she smiled at the girls and nodded for them to turn around. “Okay,” she said, no longer whispering between the girls, this time intending for the boys to hear her so they knew they could lower the cover and face them again.
Jeremiah quickly dropped his side of the fabric and spun around. Once he was facing the girls, he brought his hands up and cupped y/n’s face tenderly. His thumbs delicately swiped away her falling tears as he listened closely to her breathing pattern. “You’re okay, you’re safe sweetheart,” he promised.
Taylor smiled softly. “Take good care of my girl, Fisher,” she encouraged as she and Belly walked towards Conrad’s car.
“C’mere baby girl,” Jeremiah cooed, lowering his hands and opening his arms up for y/n. He squinted when she didn’t move to enter his embrace. “Y/n/n?” He asked.
“Are you mad at me?” Y/n whimpered.
“What?” Jeremiah ask, voice ringing with the sound of his disbelief. “Why in the world would I be mad at you?”
Y/n didn’t respond. She just sniffled and stared at her feet. Her sternum bounced as she tried to keep from breaking into a crying fit.
“You know this isn’t your fault,” Jeremiah murmured, “right?”
Y/n slowly nodded. “B-but I.. I..,” she protested vaguely, her breathing becoming more erratic.
“Aye, aye, aye, breathe,” Jeremiah instructed softly, taking y/n’s shaking hands in his. “Take a breath, love”.
Y/n sniffled as she unconsciously squeezed Jeremiah’s hands as she tensed. “I.. chose to spend time with them instead of-,” she mumbled.
“Ahh,” Jeremiah whispered to himself in realization. She was worrying about how they had a small disagreement over their plans for tonight. “Nah, nah, no, shhh,” he soothed. He rubbed the backs of her hands with his thumbs. “That doesn’t matter,” Jeremiah promised warmly.
“Jere-,” y/n protested.
“No babe,” Jeremiah said as he shook his head. “You haven’t had much girl time lately, I just got jealous of sharing your time, and you,” he blushed.
Y/n smiled weakly but genuinely. “But…,” she continued, her racing thoughts having taken over her mind by now. “S-still I … I left to see them, and then had to interrupt your night, and-”.
Jeremiah curled the left corner of his mouth towards as he gazed lovingly at y/n. “You can interrupt my night any time y/n/n, you know that. I don’t mind,” he told her.
Y/n sniffled, her eyes slowly finding their way to meet Jeremiah’s gaze. “But I…, it was your day off too, and I,” she hiccuped. “I ruined your evening, and all because I was too naive to-”. .
“Shhh, no. You’re not naive, they’re just mean girls,” Jeremiah defended. He softly pulled y/n’s hands closer to him. “You got caught in Conrad’s mess. I’m so sorry for that, honey, I am,” he frowned.
“Jere, ‘s not your fault,” y/n murmured.
Jeremiah gave y/n a grateful faint smile. “I know, but still, I-” he began.
“No, Jere,” y/n argued. Her breathing picked back up. She didn’t mean to make Jeremiah feel bad over this. She sniffled as she felt her nose run. “It-it’s n-n-,” she rambled.
“Okay, okay,” Jeremiah nodded. He delicately pulled y/n’s shaking body to his chest. “Oh and by the way, Y/n,” he said, her name coated in love. “You could never ruin my evening,” he attested.

“That’s it,” Jeremiah encouraged. He stared down at y/n as she continued to cling to his shirt. “You’re doing great,” he whispered. They were still on the street that he’d driven to when trying to find her earlier. She’d slipped into a full-blown panic attack moments after the other girls were in Conrad’s car.
“N..no,” y/n argued in a hushed voice. Her grip on the fabric of Jeremiah’s shirt intensified as she tried to catch her breath. “I still c-can’t b-bre-”.
“Yes you can,” Jeremiah promised, brushing y/n’s hair back from her face. It was true. She was breathing… shallowly… but still, she was getting air into her lungs. It was the only positive thing Jeremiah was clinging onto right now. “I wouldn’t dare let you sit here with me like this if you weren’t,” he pointed out warmly.
“F-feel,” y/n whimpered. She shifted off Jeremiah’s lap, the grass under him tickling her leg as she moved. She took hold of one of his hands and lifted it up. She placed his palm over the fabric covering the left side of her upper chest.
Jeremiah frowned as he felt just how fast his girlfriend’s heart was racing. He obviously already knew it was beating faster than normal. But, feeling it himself and seeing how desperate y/n was to make him understand why she felt she couldn’t breathe was a whole other matter. He sighed sympathetically. “Oh baby,” he cooed.
“Just lean on me sweetheart,” Jeremiah instructed when y/n returned to his lap in order to hold onto him again. “I’m here,” he hummed, y/n’s head burying into the crook of his neck, “I’m here”. Jeremiah closed his arms around y/n’s back and held her to him. Maybe if he could hold her tight enough, she’d realize she was safe and secure. He needed her to know that. She didn’t need to be afraid anymore. He just wanted her to see that. To believe that.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Jeremiah told y/n. He rested his chin on her shoulder, tucking her under him even more. “I’m not going to let anyone hurt you baby, I promise,” he declared softly. “You’re safe, you’re safe, you’re safe,” Jeremiah echoed, listening to the way her breathing calmed in sync with his reassurances.

“What is it y/n/n?” Jeremiah questioned lovingly as he glanced over at her from the drivers seat. He’d felt her eyes on him and when he looked her way, he saw he’d been correct.
“Just.. Thank you,” y/n answered with a soft smile.
Jeremiah smiled and shook his head. He peaked back at the street to enter the long straight strip of road was still clear. As his eyes once again found y/n, he sighed fondly. “You don’t need to thank me”.
Y/n shrugged and chuckled quietly. She bit her lip bashfully when she saw the way her laugh brought out Jeremiah’s characteristic grin. “I’m thanking you for coming to rescue me, whether you accept it or not,” y/n stated.
Jeremiah chuckled as his eyes playfully widened before looking back at the road. “Was that a threat?” He teased and squeezed y/n’s hand.
“Mmm, if it needed to be,” y/n giggled in defense.
Jeremiah’s smile grew as he listened to y/n’s laughter. “I love you,” he vowed, looking her way as he pulled up to the last stop sign before they were home. He nibbled on his bottom lip with smug giddiness. He was pleased she was feeling much better. But he was truly proud he’d been able to turn her night around and make her smile so excitedly after everything she had been through tonight.
“I love you too, Jere,” y/n hummed, squeezing his hand tightly. “My handsome, bubbly, knight in shining armor,” she complimented, beaming proudly when he blushed. She rested her head calmly against the headrest with a tranquil sigh as Jeremiah pulled in the driveway.
“Let’s get you to bed so you can sleep, hmm?” Jeremiah suggested, putting the car into park. He quickly exited the car and rushed to the passenger side before y/n could exit. “Did you want to sleep in my room tonight?” He offered as he opened the door for her.
Y/n nodded gratefully and let Jeremiah help her out of his car. She leaned against him as he wrapped himself around her from the side to walk with her. She yawned and quickly covered her mouth with her hand. Y/n smiled up at Jeremiah when she felt him kiss the top of her head as he opened the door to the beach house. She was home and safe. Not just because they’d made it back to Susannah’s house. But because she had Jeremiah, because she was in his arms, guarded by his protective love and affection.

Dating Jeremiah Fisher
Tumblr media
₊˚⊹♡ ∘₊ ───────────── ₊˚⊹♡ ∘₊ ─────────────── ₊˚⊹♡ ∘₊
warnings ✩° : fluff, me cursing, that’s it i think.
pairing ✩° : jeremiah fisher x gn!reader
authors note ✩° : what would you guys do if i said i was team jeremiah.
────────────────────────────────────────────
Golden retrievers take human form in Jeremiah Fisher. This is repeated for a reason because it's so accurate to who he is. Jeremiah LOVES attention, specifically your attention, and he'll do anything to get it. He's needy and energetic, seemingly having an endless supply of bursting positive energy.
And he kinda just looks like one. Look at him.
Bro is SO confident. So if you're shy or insecure, like a sponge, Jeremiah slurps all of it up and leaves you feeling like anything embarrassing you see yourself doing is gone. He's also very prone to making a fool out of himself, but he reassures you that you have no reason to feel that way around him.
Beams like the goddamn sun. Wear sunglasses around him, always.
Anything is a date with Jeremiah, even if you don't notice. He loves walking with you along the shore line or sitting in the sand, or even just being around him in bed or watching a show or movie. He considers every time he hangs out with you a date.
But for more serious dates, Jeremiah knows how to handle those. Seeing him all dressy. God. DAMN.
With any chance he gets, Jeremiah will go out of his way to tease you. At some point, you don't even consider it harmless teasing anymore, because Jeremiah will full on shove you into pools and jump out and scare you just to hear you scream all while he's laughing the entire time.
Jeremiah's love language has to be words of affirmation. If he doesn't know what's going on with you, he feels alone and left out. He always loves reminding you how much he loves you, how gorgeous you look, or how lucky he is to have you. Seriously, there is no line he hasn't crossed with being cheesy.
He's not the jealous type whatsoever, that's more Conrad's style, but that doesn't make him immune to feeling protective over you. At parties, if someone's talking to you in a certain flirty tone, he'll come up behind you and wrap his arm around your waist, resting his chin on the top of your head and try to join in on the conversation. If the person says something he doesn't like, he'll give a little squeeze on your side to let you know.
He will remember if you prefer silver or gold so he can buy you jewelry. He actually wears a matching necklace to yours in gold!
Since Jeremiah's always around you, there's a lot of inside jokes that start to develop. In fact, nearly everything turns into one. Some of those jokes tumble into nicknames for each other, besides the usual 'Jere' and 'Y/nie.'
Fights with Jeremiah never go beyond anything serious. The worst they've ever gotten was ignoring each other for three days before he ended up just flopping onto your bed with a stuffed animal of either your favorite animal or character. He's just silly.
At sunsets and sunrises is where Jeremiah loves being with you most. He thinks when the sun catches in your hair or even your eyes is a scene he can never forget.
Polaroids. All of the dopey pictures he takes of himself and you, mostly candids or really exaggerated facial expressions. His tongue is out in almost every single one of them.
Every drink you order or make will be sipped on casually by Jeremiah, you cannot save it or prevent it from happening. He usually comments very honestly, if something is good or if something needs more banana (which it never does. once you add banana to a smoothie it’s a fucking banana smoothie now).

Just got myself to read a spoiler accidentally of The Summer I Turned Pretty and found out that Jeremiah Fisher turns out to be a frat boy in the third book and you want me to believe that this boy who was the most supportive of Belly's choices throughout the summer and cared for everyone around him decided to give away all of his morals and cheat on her?! Like c'mon he was so sweet throughout the first two books and then JH turns him to be some nightmarish toxic guy and I won't believe it. This character development is unbelievable, it feels more like the author didn't find any flaws in him in order for Belly to choose Conrad and she just made Jeremiah the flaw and I'm team Jere from the very beginning and book 3 doesn't exist for me and if s3 gets a similar ending with Jeremiah as the problem than I'm gonna plainly ignore it exists.

Does anyone want to read a complete rewrite of TSITP where the reader used to come over the summers to Cousin’s beach and was really close with the Fisher’s and Belly. But it has been three years and you return the same summer Belly turned pretty and you don’t know who you like, Jeremiah or Conrad? And you aren’t sure if they even see you like that?

Deep End
Type: One shot about Jeremiah & Conrad TV Show: The summer I turned pretty Rating: Rated PG Word Count: 4200+ Enjoy!
She hated the idea that her whole life was being taken away from her. Her dad got a new job in Wilmington, North Carolina so they had to move. Thankfully it was during the summertime so she wouldn't have to restart her senior year. Ava just hated the idea that she wouldn't be able to have her senior year with her friends. Especially her boyfriend but also her best friend that she grew up with. She was trying to make it a positive and look at it as if it was a fresh start but it still sucked.
"I don't know why I can't just live with you," Ava said as she laid back on her bed. "I know right, our parents know each other so well," Kelly said. "I hate it," Ava sighed. "I hate it too, how am I ever going to get through this year without you?" Kelly asked. "I have no clue, trust me I'm the same way," She said. "You are my rock," she said. "You are my rock," Kelly said. "We grew up together," Kelly sighed. "I know but this is good news for my dad so I'm trying to stay positive about it," Ava said. "True" Kelly rolled her eyes. "Still sucks," she said. "I know but we will talk every day!" Ava said. "Of course," Kelly nodded. "How is Nathan taking it?" she asked. "Not well, he broke up with me last night" Ava sighed. "I'm sorry," Kelly said. "It's ok, it was going to happen anyway" Ava shrugged.
They spent their last few hours in Ava's room, just reliving special moments. Soon it was time for Ava to leave, so they both made their way downstairs. They said their tearful goodbyes, as the car pulled away Kelly watched it disappear in the distance. Ava and her family didn't make it to North Carolina until late at night. She went straight to her room and went to bed. In the morning it was a brand new day and a fresh start. She got up and took a quick shower, getting ready pretty quickly.
"Ava, breakfast is ready," Ava's mom said. "I'm coming," Ava said as she left her room. "Someone is in a better mood," Ava's mom said. "Fresh start, right?" Ava said as she sat down. "Yes, a fresh start," Ava's mom said as she placed the plate on the table. "Try to make the best of it," She said as she started to eat. "You know if we had a choice we would have stayed," her mom said. "Yea I know" Ava nodded. "Good, I don't want you to think we did this to hurt you," her mom said. "Of course not," Ava said. "I know dad needed this job," she said. "I'm glad you understand, we were worried you would hate us forever," her mom said. "I could never hate you forever, maybe a little but not forever" Ava smiled. "So are you unpacking your room today or going to explore?" her mom asked. "Maybe both," Ava nodded. "Sounds like a plan," her mom said.
She finished breakfast and placed her plate in the sink. She decided to explore around just to see the vibe around here. She made her way to cousin's beach. She sat on the shore and just looked out towards the water, just taking in how peaceful it was.
"So I'm guessing you are new," someone said. "Excuse me?" Ava said as she looked around. "You are new around here," he said. "Yea I am" She nodded as she looked at him. "Didn't mean to disrupt your peaceful beach moment" he said. "It's ok," she said. "just enjoying the scenery," she said. "It's pretty nice out here," he said as he sat down next to her. "Yea it is," she said. "Do you come here often?" she asked. "Sometimes," he said. "It's a good place to clear your mind," he said. "Oh," she nodded. "I'm Ava by the way" she looked at him. "I'm Conrad" he looked at her. "Nice to meet you" she smiled slightly. "There is a bonfire tonight, you should come," he said. "I'll see if I'm not busy," she said. "Sounds good" he smiled. "I'll leave you to the beach," he said. "See you later," she said as she watched him leave
She walked to the shore and allowed the waves to crash over her feet. It was nice to be able to come to the beach whenever she wanted to. It still wasn't like back home but she could get used to this. She finished walking along the shore before heading back to her house. She unpacked a few of her things, trying to make her room feel more like her room. Ava didn't have high hopes of staying in town for long, who knew when the next time she would have to move?
"So there is this bonfire tonight, I think I'm going to see what it's all about '' Ava said into the phone. "Who invited you?" Kelly asked. "Some cute boy" Ava smiled to herself, thinking about Conrad. "First night there and you meet someone," Kelly said. "No, he was just at the beach at the same time as me," she said. "Uh huh," Kelly said. "Uh huh yourself," Ava said. "It would be nice to go and meet some new friends," she said. "Trying to replace me, I see," Kelly said. "Never," Ava said. "Just be nice while I'm here to have some friends," she said. "I know what you meant," Kelly said. "Go and have fun, it is summer after all," Kelly said. "Love you," Ava said before hanging up the phone.
Maybe she was just going to the bonfire to find Conrad. She thought about why stay in the house when she could go make some new friends. She got dressed in her favorite jeans, a basic top. She grabbed her fake leather jacket and slipped on her shoes before she walked out the door. She walked down to the beach, where everyone was gathering. The fire was already going and it seemed like so were the drinks.
"Oh hello to you," someone said as he placed his arm around Ava's shoulders. "Hey" She smiled as she looked at him. "You are pretty and I'm probably drunk" he chuckled slightly. "I'm Jeremiah by the way," he said. "I'm Ava and you probably won't remember that" she laughed. "Well Ava let me get you a drink," Jeremiah said. "Sure" she nodded as she walked with him. "What would you like?" He asked. "Can I just get a soda?" Ava asked. "That's no fun but if you are sure," Jeremiah said as he handed her a cup. "Thank you," she said as she grabbed the cup. "Hey Belly, meet my new friend," Jeremiah said. "Wait, what was your name again?" He asked. "Hey, I'm Ava," Ava said. "Nice to meet you," Belly smiled. "Don't mind Jeremiah, he means no harm" she said. "I'm sure," Ava nodded. "Nice to meet you as well," she said. "Come on my lady," Jeremiah said. "I'll catch up in a little bit," Ava said as she pulled away. "I'll see you later?" She looked at Jeremiah. "Of course, you will," He smiled as he walked away. "Are you new around here?" Belly asked. "Yea just moved" Ava nodded as she took a sip of her drink. "Well welcome and I hope you enjoy your stay" Belly said. "Thank you," Ava said.
Ava smiled and went on her way, she looked around the bonfire. She didn't see Conrad so she thought he bailed on her. She decided to sit around the fire, just taking in the scene. Someone came and sat down next to her, when she turned to see who it was she noticed it was Conrad.
"Hey" She smiled. "Thought you stood me up," she said. "Never," Conrad said as he looked at her. "I wouldn't invite you and then just bail," he said. "Well I was hoping you wouldn't," She said. "And here I am," He smiled. "Good," She said. "Plus I kinda like the new girl," he said. "You do?" she asked. "Yea I do," he said as he tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear. Allowing his fingers to brush against her cheek. "Are you just saying that?" She asked. "No," He said as he placed his hand against her jaw, and tilted her chin up allowing their eyes to meet.
He brushed his thumb against her cheek as he slowly leaned in. She leaned in towards him resting her hand against his chest. Allowing her lips to touch his, softly kissing him. He deepened the kiss as he kissed her back, pulling her closer to him. Thoughts of Nathan rushed into Ava's mind, she pulled away looking at Conrad.
"I'm sorry," She said as she got up and rushed off. "Wait," Conrad said as he went after her. "Please don't," She said as she continued to walk. "Stop," he said as he grabbed her arm. "Conrad '' She said as she looked at him. "Talk to me," He said. "We just met, no harm no foul," She said as she pulled away from him. "Don't act like we didn't just have a moment" He said. "We did but I'm sorry" she looked away. "Talk to me please," he said as he placed his hands on her shoulders. "I can't unload my baggage on someone I just met," she said. "Ok fine I'll tell you something. My mom's cancer is back and I'm kinda freaking out." He said. "Conrad" She looked at him. "I'm sorry," She said. "It's ok, I'm trying to figure it out," he nodded. "Conrad" she grabbed his hands, pulling him closer to her. "I'm sorry you are going through this," she said. "Thank you," he said as he placed his arm around her waist. "Does anyone know?" she asked. "No my mom is trying to keep a secret but I picked up on it, she doesn't know that I know," he said. "Conrad" She looked at him. "It's ok, enough about me," he said. "You don't have to tell me anything but come back to the party," he said. "Ok," she nodded.
He grabbed her hand and pulled her back to the party. They sat by the fire, he placed his arm around her waist as she leaned her head against his shoulder. They started to talk and it was easy and simple and she felt like he wasn't pressuring her. They hung out mainly the whole night. It was nearly 1 am when they decided to leave the party.
"Can I walk you home?" he questioned. "Sure" she nodded as she looked at him. "Alright," he said as he grabbed her hand, helping her up. "Which way?" he asked. "This way," she said as she led him in the direction where her house. "I hope we can hang out again," he said as they walked. "I would like that Conrad" she looked at him. "Really?" he asked as he brushed his thumb against her hand. "Yea really" she smiled. "Well this is me," she said as they made it to her house. "Nice house," he said as he stood in front of her. "Thanks, I haven't seen much of it clearly" she chuckled. "You are always at the beach" he chuckled as well. "Yea such a beach babe," she said. "So I'm guessing you would want our date on the beach?" he questioned. "No, I want it to be whatever you decide," she said. "Ok got it" he nodded. "Well goodnight," he said. "Goodnight Conrad" she hugged him, pulling away slightly to look at him.
He leaned down and kissed her softly, placing his hand against her chin. She kept the kiss between them as she placed her hand against his chest. Deepening the kiss as she stood on her tippy toes. He smiled against her lips as he pulled away slowly, resting his forehead against hers.
"Goodnight" he whispered, pushing back the hair from her face. "Goodnight" she looked at him before pulling away.
She looked back at him as she walked into the house. Her parents were already asleep so she very quietly entered the house and made it to her room. She fell asleep rather quickly but wasn't looking forward to dealing with her parents in the morning. She was woken up by the sound of her father leaving the house. She looked out the window, watching him drive away. She yawned and stretched before getting out of her bed. Making her way to the bathroom, turning the shower on, and allowing the water to heat up. She looked at herself in the mirror as she brushed her teeth, still tired from the night before.
"Ava are you awake?" her mom asked. "I'll be down shortly" Ava responded.
She finished getting ready and made her way to the kitchen. She grabbed a seat at the table where her parents were sitting. She knew it would be a firm talk because she was out past her curfew.
"We would like to talk about last night," her mom said. "Sure" Ava nodded. "Look we aren't mad that you were out past curfew," her dad said. "You aren't?" Ava was confused. "We are just upset that we didn't know where you were," her mom said. "We just want to know where you are headed or going to be," her dad said. "Right" Ava nodded. "I'm sorry, it won't happen again," she said. "Good, we just want to know where you are," her mom said. "I'll let you guys know next time," Ava said. "Thank you," her dad said. "Of course," Ava said. "I made breakfast if you want any" her mom said, "Thank you," Ava said as she got up to make herself a plate.
She sat down and ate breakfast as her mom cleaned up. Once she finished she washed her plate and went back to her room. She was unpacking her things when she received a text from an unknown number.
"Hey this is Jeremiah, come hang out with me," the text said. "How did you get my number?" she texted back. "I have my ways, now please so I can make up for last night" he texted. "Where?" she texted. "Meet me at the aquarium?" he texted. "Sure" she texted back.
She finished unpacking the box she had started on. She grabbed her jacket and told her parents where she was going before heading out. She finally made her way to the aquarium, looking around for Jeremiah. He snuck up behind her, placing his hands against her eyes gently.
"Guess who?" he whispered in her ear. "The guy who stole my number" she smiled. "Damn don't even remember my name" he smiled as he let her go. "Jeremiah" she looked at him. "Did I make myself look like an ass last night?" he asked. "Not that I know of," she admitted. "Everyone said I did so I wanted to apologize if I did" he nodded. "You didn't with me," she smiled. "Good," he smiled. "I would hate to embarrass myself in front of the new girl," he said. "The new girl has a name," she said. "Well excuse me" he chuckled slightly. "Didn't want to embarrass me in front of Ava," he said. "Oh so you do know my name" she smiled. "Of course," he said.
He grabbed her hand and led her around the aquarium. Showing her the sharks and jellyfish, just enjoying their time together. She kept her grip on his hand as they walked around the whole place.
"Look at the stingrays," she said as she pulled him over to the tank. "Pancakes," he chuckled. "Sea pancakes," she laughed. "Well sea pancakes are slippery," he said as he placed his hand in the water, one brushing against his hand. "Yea they are but they are always in the water so" she shrugged as she placed her hand in the water as well. "True," he said. "I have a friend who works here, do you want to go feed the fish?" he asked. "Sure" she nodded. "Let's go," she said.
Jeremiah grabbed her hand and led her upstairs to the feeding tanks. His friend allowed them to enter, he made sure she was secure before disappearing. He finally returned in a wet suit and he slipped into the tank before she realized it.
"Jeremiah? I didn't think I would feed the fish alone" she said as she looked around. "Well feed me," he said as he swam closer to her. "What are you doing in there?" she asked. "Swimming with the fishes," he smiled. "I don't think that you are supposed to be in there," she said. "It's fine," he said as he moved closer to her. "How?" she asked. "Just have to know the right people," he said. "You can put your feet in here, they won't bite," he said. "But you might," she said as she took her shoes off, placing her feet into the water. "True" he chuckled slightly. "Uh huh," she rolled her eyes playfully. "Come here," he said as he moved between her legs. "Don't get me wet," she said. "In which way?" he smirked. "I won't," he said as he rested his hand against her leg. "Does it feel weird being in there with the fish?" she questioned. "Not really" he looked up at her. "Same as the ocean?" she asked. "No, not as cold as the ocean," he nodded.
As she was distracted asking questions he pulled her into the water. She came back up to the surface and splashed him. He splashed her back before moving closer to her. Placing his arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him. She placed her arm around his neck, looking at him. He smiled as he looked at her, their eyes meeting. He leaned in slightly, allowing his lips to touch her, waiting for her to make a move. She leaned in, kissing him softly, keeping her arms around his neck. He smiled against her lips before kissing her back. He gently tugged at her bottom lip before pulling away, resting his forehead against hers. She leaned again, kissing him softly before she pulled away. Before he could speak she dunked him under the water, swimming away from him. He grabbed her leg before she could get away, pulling her under the water with him. He wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer. She leaned in and kissed him, using the rest of her breath. She pushed away from him and swam up to the surface, gasping for air as she emerged.
"Are you ok?" he asked as he also came to the surface. "Yea I'm fine" she nodded. "Good, maybe we should get out and get dried off," he suggested. "No you pulled me in here" she smiled as she splashed him again. "Oh, so it's like that now?" he chuckled slightly as he splashed her back. "Yup" she laughed as they played around with the fishes.
Finally, they got out of the tank and he handed her a towel as they walked into the locker room.
"I have some extra clothes if you want to change," he said. "Ok," she nodded.
She grabbed the change of clothes and went into the bathroom. She quickly changed and walked back into the room, accidentally walking on him changing. She stayed quiet as she watched him run the towel down his body. He placed his shirt over his head, allowing it to fall along his body. He turned and smiled as he caught her watching.
"Like what you see?" he asked. "Oh, shit," she said as she snapped out of it and looked up at him. "It's ok," he chuckled slightly. "Sorry," she said. "It's ok," he said as he grabbed her hand. "Really," he said. "Thank you for today" she wrapped her arms around his neck. "Thank you for coming" he smiled as he placed his hands on her hips. "I wouldn't miss it" She leaned up, kissing him softly. "Good" he smiled against her lips.
She pulled away when she felt her phone buzz in her pocket. She pulled it out and looked at the messages and this time it was Conrad, she had given him her number the night before. He was wondering if she was free for a sunset beach picnic.
"Guess you are popular," Jeremiah said. "Guess so," she smiled. "Will I see you later?" she asked. "Ditching me already" he nodded. "I'm not ditching you" she looked at him. "You still have my full attention," she said. "Do I?" he asked. "Yes you do" she leaned up and kissed him again. "I won't hold you, hostage," he smiled. "We will see each other again," he said. "Yea we will," she smiled. "But no hard feelings right?" she asked. "Of course not, we are just having fun," he said, "Ok see you later" she kissed him again before leaving the aquarium.
She made her way down to the beach, trying to find Conrad. She finally found him and made her way over to him. He had the blanket all set up with the food. He noticed her walking towards him, he smiled and stood up. He grabbed the rose and held it out to her. She grabbed it and smelled it before hugging him. They both sat down on the blanket and started to eat.
"Where did you come from?" he asked. "Oh the aquarium," she said. "I fell in the feeding tank, it was a big thing" she nodded. "Oh that explains the wet hair" he nodded. "Yea" She smiled slightly. "Did not mean to spring this idea on you" he said. "You didn't, I was done at the aquarium" she smiled. "I wanted to be here with you," she said. "Alright," he smiled.
He picked up a strawberry and placed it against her lips. She opened her mouth, took the strawberry, biting it softly. He pulled the strawberry away and ate the rest of it. He leaned over brushing his thumb against her lip, wiping the juice from her lips. She grabbed a strawberry and placed it against his lips. He accepted it and took a bite from it. She didn't use her finger to wipe up the juice from her lip. She leaned over and kissed him softly, running her tongue along his lip. He smiled as she pulled away, as he watched her eat a few more strawberries. She leaned back on her elbows as she watched the sunset, he did the same thing but couldn't stop looking at her.
"It's beautiful," she said. "I've never seen a sunset at a beach before," she said. "Yes it is," he said as he watched her. "Oh yea," he said as he snapped out of it. "Yea, well this is the first few times I've seen a beach" she admitted. "Really?" he asked. "Yea, back home the beach was too far away" she nodded. "Oh," he said. "Come on," she said as she stood up, reaching for his hand. "Ok," he smiled as he grabbed her hand.
She led them down the shore, enough so their feet would get wet. He stood behind her wrapping his arms around her. Resting his head against her shoulder. She placed her hands over the top of his as she leaned back against him.
"It's a perfect night" he whispered in her ear. "A perfect ending to an amazing day" she smiled. "It's just perfect with you," he said. "Stop," she said as she started to blush. "I'm serious," he said as he kissed her cheek. "Where do you stay?" she asked. "A few houses down," he nodded. "We come here for the summer," he said. "Oh, just for the summer?" she asked. "Yea it's something my family has done forever," he said. "With another family," he nodded. "Sounds amazing and with the most amazing friends," she said. "Growing up like that must have been amazing," she said. "It had its times of being amazing but lately it just seems like a burden," he said. "Oh that sucks," she said. "But you brightened up my summer," he said. "Summer just started," she smiled. "Yea and you've made it already better," he said. "HEY CONRAD" Someone yelled out, and the voice sounded familiar to her. "WHAT?" Conrad said as he turned around. "Mom wants us in the kitchen," Jeremiah said. "Ok I'll be there in a second '' Conrad said. "Ava?" Jeremiah said. "Hey Jeremiah," she said as she looked at him. "How do you two know each other?" she asked. "He's my brother," Conrad said. "Oh," she nodded. "I should probably get home," She said. "See you later," Conrad said. "Yea, see you later," she said as she left the beach.
She finally made it home and went straight to her room. She took a quick shower to get the aquarium water off of her. She lay in her bed, staring at the ceiling. The two guys she was seeing were brothers. There were so many thoughts running through her head, so many questions. She didn't know if she wanted to know the answers but the question she needed to answer. Who was she going to choose?

Oh my god Maxie and trouble!!??!!!!! Literally my favs… no thoughts just domestic max and trouble trying to sleep but she just won’t stop talking and max just kisses her to shut her up and finally get some beauty sleep 😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏‼️‼️‼️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
this was so cute and so self-projecting kqedjewfkqd thank you for requesting! and sorry not sorry to the team jeremiah girls!!🫶🏽
.
If there was one mistake Max made when it came to your relationship, it was agreeing to binge tv shows with you.
And yet, he fell for the trap every single time.
Personally, Max was never one to get overly invested in tv shows or movies. He would enjoy them, there were a few he wouldn’t mind rewatching on the odd rainy day. But he never got attached, whether it be to the show or the plot or the characters.
Not in the way you did.
He had to admit that he did find it adoring just how invested you got. If you liked the show, you were all in. You had your favourite characters and your comfort episodes. For the short time you watched the show until you finished, it was a hefty topic in most of your conversations. You got angry and sad and upset and excited over these shows. Max had never really experienced anything like it.
And usually—usually—he genuinely did find it adorable.
But sometimes there were moments like this one where he majorly regretted watching the show with you.
“I just don’t get how everybody can’t see the clear endgame!”
“Mhm.”
“Like, from music and cinematography and—”
“Mhm.”
“She has to end up with Conrad! She has to! I mean,” you paused for a moment as you let out a scoff. “Who would choose Jeremiah? He just lurks in the background with his creepy blue eyes and weird stare!”
“Mhm,” Max hummed like he had been doing for the last fifteen minutes before he paused. He frowned, opening his eyes to look over at you. “Wait, you don’t think my blue eyes are creepy, right?”
“Of course not, baby,” you murmured with a soft smile. “You have pretty ocean eyes. Jeremiah Fisher has the eyes of a white walker.”
Max snorted.
“I’m serious, Max. They stare into your soul.”
“I think you forget that I watched the show with you, Trouble,” he murmured as his eyes fell shut again, taking in a deep breath as he desperately tried to fall asleep like his body was begging him to do so.
But you had just finished the last episode of season two, you were riled up, and now instead of going to bed and cuddling with him like he wanted, you were sat criss-crossed on the bed as you rambled away about a show Max stopped thinking about the second the tv turned off.
“He is just the clear second option when Conrad is there, all dreamy and perfect and still in love with her and—”
You never got a chance to finish your sentence before Max had sat up, his fingers tangled in your hair as he kissed you mid-sentence. You felt breathless and flushed, and it didn’t take long for you to sink into his embrace as he pulled you back down onto the bed until you were lying on top of him.
“I know you’re angry but you need sleep,” he murmured against your lips as he settled his arms around your middle. “We both do.”
“Mhm,” you hummed, still a little dazed from the kiss.
“And I would prefer to have my girlfriend in my arms rather than talking about some other man being dreamy or whatever you said,” Max added.
You laughed lightly as you nuzzled yourself further into his embrace. “You are Team Conrad though, right?”
“Of course, Trouble,” he murmured and pressed a kiss to the crown of your head. “Now for the love of god, please fucking go to sleep.”

Summary: Growing up with the Conklins and the Fishers has been a wonderful experience for you; you feel as if you were a part of another family. Your days of stress as a child were over, well at least you thought that was the case not until you had to choose between your two childhood bestfriends, the one who did you wrong and the one who has been waiting his entire life for your decision.
Next || Conrad Fisher x fem!reader ! Steven Conklin x fem!reader || My blog
Warnings: yelling, crying, swearing, angst, reader being insecure (lmk if i missed anything)
Requested by: Anonymous
───────────────────────────
Ever since I was little, the Conklins would always tell my parents that they were going to take me to Cousins — where I met Jeremiah, Conrad and Susannah. They became my second family, they always treated me right, always included me in everything.
Conrad and Steven was the one that I was close with, It was Conrad, me and Steven. We were inseparable.
As a child, Susannah likes me best when I'm with Conrad, while Laurel always prefers me when I'm with Steven when we're together.
That stopped when me and Conrad got together, we always had something special. Everyone saw that, everyone knew that. It wasn’t official or anything but we did have something. He made me feel special, he made me feel loved. Everyone thought we had something going on, including me.
But no, not until I arrived infront of the beach house. Not until I saw Conrad and Belly, infront of the fireplace — together, naked.
I crashed, my heart broke in so many pieces. I didn’t know if I whether to cry or get mad. My emotions were all over the place. I wanted to go back — go back to my car and just drive off like nothing happened but I can’t, I can’t move — I couldn’t move.
I saw Conrad pull away from Belly, he saw me — our eyes locked, his smile faltered — his face now filled with fear, with panic.
“Fuck. I-It’s not what it looks like. Shit shit shit” He stood up, picking up his clothes. Belly looked at where Conrad was looking, when she noticed me she immediately stood up, grabbing her clothes and putting it back on. Conrad walked towards me trying to reach for me but I pushed him away, I walked back.
My vision were blurry, my eyes filled with tears. He grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him, hugging me. I was disgusted, not just of him but of myself too. Am I not enough?
I shook my head then pushed him away “Y/n please” Belly yelled “No, fuck you! You were my bestfriend!” I pointed at her before walking away from her. I ran outside of the door and walked to my car.
“Please, I-I’m sorry” Belly said, running after me — tears running down her face — her hand trembling, reaching for mine but I pushed it away “Don’t fucking touch me!” I yelled at her.
“Y/n come on, let’s go inside please? It’s too cold out here” Conrad walked towards me, pulling me by the arm. Pulling me towards the house.
“I-I thought we had something special, Conrad. You.. you fucking played me!” I yelled, he stopped walking — he turned to me, his eyes, now gentle. “I-I’m so sorry. I was just so stressed, please.” he looked down, he was crying, he had the fucking audacity to cry.
I pulled my hand away from him, “Sorry? is that all you’re going to say? I know you’re stressed but this is what you fucking do? you fuck my bestfriend? and you’re fucking crying? you’re unbelievable. You’re fucking dead to me, the both of you.” I pointed at him and Belly then I walked towards my car then drove off.
───────────────────────────
As I reached the front of my house, I saw Steven there — with my mom and Laurel.
I hopped out of my car and saw Steven walking towards me — my face still filled with streaks of tears, “Hey, hey what happened huh?” Steven held my face in his hands, caressing my cheeks.
I shook my head, pulling him by the waistt — hugging him. “Oh y/n.” Steven voiced was filled with worry, he doesn’t know what’s wrong, he wanted to help. He rubbed my back and pulled away — watching Conrad’s car arrive.
He walked towards them “Why the fuck are you together? What happened to y/n? What the fuck did you do?!” Steven yelled — walking towards Conrad, grabbing his shirt. His eyes were filled with fury, he had the urge to hurt Conrad.
“Steven stop!” Laurel walked towards them trying to pull Steven away from Conrad. “What happened?” Laurel asked Belly — but Belly looked down, she started crying — she couldn’t even look at her moms eyes, she felt disgusted — guilty.
“Is no one going to fucking speak? can someone tell me what the fuck happened?!” Steven yelled again. He was frustrated, frustrated seeing me cry like this, What could’ve Conrad done to make you cry like this?
It was like there was a light bulb inside Steven’s head because itt all connected. Steven looked at both Conrad and Belly, oh he fucking knows. He knew it, he knew what they did. He knew that it was a wrong decision letting me be with Conrad.
“Y’all fucked huh? you cheated on y/n? is that what it is?!” Steven looked up, he couldn’t even look at Conrad — he couldn’t even look at his own sister, he’s mad — disappointed.
“Steven! Words!” Laurel yelled. Belly couldn’t talk, she was scared of her brother — scared of what he might do, they never saw him get angry like this. Conrad walked towards him “Look dude, we can talk about this inside.” pushing Steven gently towards the door.
“No shut the fuck up, I don’t want to hear anything from you. I’m taking y/n inside, Conrad just go home and you Belly.. mom just take her home.” Steven said pushing Conrad away from him — walking towards me, pulling me against him, guiding me towards the door.
We just sat there in my couch, I cried and I cried and Steven just lets me. He just listened all night, not judging me at all — not asking me questions because he knew. Just thinking about it makes him mad. He wanted to hurt Conrad but he can’t because Conrad was someone who’s still special to me and he didn’t want me to hate him. Steven would die if I did.
───────────────────────────
I woke up with a headache — probably from too much crying. It was now the day after I caught Conrad and Belly. I didn’t want to care anymore, we never really made things official — whatever was going on between us, but it still hurts me — it still hurts me because I thought we really had something going on. But I guess it was just me, because it looked like Conrad had something else in mind.
“Y/n!” I heard someone yell fron outside my window, I got out of my bed and walked towards the window — there he was, Conrad. He was standing outside my house — with flowers in his hands — roses, my favorite ones. “Just go home!” I yelled.
His shoulders slumped, his mouth frowning. Well what did he expect? that it’ll be that easy to take me back? maybe if I was dumb enough I would but no.
“Please, I… I want to talk to you!”
“There’s nothing to talk about Conrad, just go!” I said, about to go back to my bed but I saw Steven come out of his house — walking towards Conrad, grabbing his shoulders — pulling him away.
“Steve please, just let me talk to h-her” Conrad pleaded — pushing Steven’s hands away.
“Look, I think you’ve done enough. Just go home.” Steven said, pushing Conrad towards his his car. “W-what the fuck? why are you acting l-like this?” Conrad said — pushing Steven away. Conrad’s eyes were filled with rage, his face confused — he was confused by Steven’s actions
I immediately went down the stairs and went out of the house to stop Conrad and Steven. “Stop! Calm down!” I said, pushing the both of them away from each other.
I stood infront of Steven, observing Conrad’s features, his face was flushed — he couldn’t talk properly, his hair was disheveled. “Are you out of your mind?! why would you drive here when you’re drunk! Steven please?.” I turned to Steven, he immediately knew what to do — he nodded.
“Come on Conrad.” He said before pushing Conrad towards his car. “Where… where are we going?” Conrad asked —confused.
“Home, come one. Let’s go” Steven said, opening the passenger’s door for Conrad. “But.. y/n” Conrad whined. He’s such a baby when he’s drunk, it’s ridiculous.
“Just go Conrad, talk to me when you’re sober.” I said, looking at him. Conrad looked back at me before following Steven — too dizzy to fight with either of us.
“Okay, left leg first — then right” Steven instructed.
“I know how to get in a fucking car” Conrad said before going inside the passenger seat — head first. I saw Steven scratch his head — annoyed. After Conrad got in, Steven went around and sat at the driver’s seat.
I waved at Steven but Conrad might’ve thought that It was for him so he waved back — he was just too drunk — too out of his mind to even know what’s going on. I just shook my head and went back inside my house.
I didn’t want to care anymore but i’d lie if I didn’t say tht a huge part of me died. It sucks — it’s traumatizing, it’s the biggest heartbreak anyone can feel. I should’ve been smarter — more alert. God I feel so stupid.

chapter one - j.f. ( masterlist )
GORGEOUS.
Tumblr media
“ocean blue eyes looking in mine,
i feel like i might sink and drown and die”
the air outside was cold, which was shocking for a mid-june morning. you were awake early, as you often were since you preferred to be productive in the mornings, but today it was for a different reason. you had barely slept all night. this morning, you were returning to susannah’s beach house in cousins. you looked forward to this day every year, and it was always just as special every time it came around.
“you all ready?” a voice breaks your silence as laurel peaks her head out the front door, watching you sit on the porch swing. you smile at her.
“definitely,” you say. “coffee on the counter, did you see it?”
she walks over to you and gives you a kiss on the forehead. “i did. thank you. now get your bag in the car, we’ll leave in twenty.”
“can i drive?” you ask, following her inside. she shakes her head.
“already told steven he could.”
as she says it, steven comes down the stairs and ruffles your hair as he walks past you. “sorry!”
“no you’re not,” you grumble, turning away to grab your bags. you had just gotten your license less than a month ago but steven has had his for months, so he usually got first dibs on driving. you usually didn’t mind, but the drive to cousins was special to you, and you would have loved to be able to make the drive yourself. not driving, you thought, would at least give you more time to prepare. although, you would have appreciated the distraction. this year felt different. you felt different. you weren’t really sure if it was a good different or not.
part of you was terrified, for some reason. most summers, you went to cousins completely disconnected from the world back at home. cousins was it’s own world, in your mind. the people, the house, the entire atmosphere, it was magical. it absolutely transported you, and you let it. this year, you had a connection to back home. your boyfriend, peter. you and him started dating two months ago after your best friend cassie introduced you to him, and things have been incredible ever since. if you were honest, you had never really committed to a guy before him, but it seemed to be working out well so far. the reason why you were terrified, you figured, was because this trip to cousins could change that. jeremiah fisher could change that.
you had talked to plenty of guys, even dated a few for a couple weeks or so, but as soon as jeremiah fisher comes around, you lose sight of everything — and everyone — around you. he somehow has that effect on you, and he has your whole life. but you do really like peter, so you told yourself you wouldn’t ruin something good for yourself again, just because you’ve always been waiting for jeremiah. you’ve made a fool of yourself enough over the years, attempting to get closer to him as he flirts with everyone in the world, that you know it was time to change something.
you just hope that you’ll be able to stick to it.
“(y/n),” you’re woken up by your sister belly poking your side, “(y/n), you’re drooling on me.”
you groggily open your eyes and stretch, moving away from her, “sorry bells.”
“s’kay,” she yawns. “we’re almost there, anyways. and your phones been blowing up. all from peter,” she says the last part teasingly, pushing your phone towards you. you laugh as you unlock your phone, seeing that she was right, and peter had texted you seven times.
peter: good morning!!
peter: sorry ik you’ve probably been up for hours
peter: omg and youre probably almost to the beach already
peter: miss u already
peter: there’s a party tomorrow night i was thinking about going to if that’s okay with you
peter: cassie’s gonna be there and stuff and you know i’ll be thinking about you forever so you’d have nothing to worry about
peter: just let me know if you’re comfortable with it okay?
you: oh my peter
you: you don’t need my permission to go have fun!!! of course you can go to the party :)
you: just text me and keep me updated okay? and make sure there’s a DD
peter: of course. you’re the best!
you: 🤍🤍
you smile at your phone and as soon you look back up, you were entering cousins. you didn’t realize how long you had slept for, but as soon as you saw the sign, your heart skipped a beat. you were back. you were back, and everything was good, including your lovely boyfriend back home. this summer was going to be perfect, you just knew it. your fears from this morning were fading and you decided that no matter what happens, you’re going to be okay. you’re going to have a great summer.
“did susannah get a new car?” steven asks as he pulls the car into the driveway of the house. laurel nods, a small smile forming on her face as the house comes into few. the same smile was present on everyone’s faces in the car. this place was so special to all of you.
“yeah, she gets bored with her cars easily,” laurel finally says, a hint of distaste in her voice. “she just likes to change things often.”
steven was barely listening and was halfway out of the car by the time laurel was done talking. his eyes were set on susannah, who was standing at the doorway, watching your car pull in. she looked as beautiful and radiant as ever, and even more so, especially since it was obvious that she was healthier now than she was last summer. her hair got longer and the glow on her face was back, lighting up her eyes and giving her the most approachable demeanor possible. she was perfect.
you get out of the car shortly after steven, and follow him up the steps to hug susannah tightly. she rubs your back as she hugs you. “oh sweet (y/n), you beautiful girl. i’m so happy to see you.”
“i’ve missed you so much,” you say back, and she gives you another squeeze before letting you go and hugging laurel. you look down by the car at steven, who was now talking to jeremiah, who had his back to you. your breath caught in your throat when you saw him, but you shook it off. that was not what this was going to be. he was one of your best friends, your family. that was all. that didn’t stop your heart rate from speeding up the second that he turned around and your eyes met his beautiful, bright blue ones. his face softened as soon as he saw you, but his smile remained just as wide. you move towards him and he watches you, his eyes never leaving yours as you approach him.
“(y/n),” he says, looking you up and down and grinning. “you look different.”
you knit your eyebrows and look down at yourself. “good different?”
jeremiah laughs. “always good.”
you giggle and wrap your arms around his neck and he pulls you into a close hug. you take in his scent, a mix of saltwater and his vanilla cologne, the one that conrad and steven have always made fun of him for. they always say it makes him smell too girly. you have always thought he smelled perfect.
“i have so much to tell you,” jeremiah says as you pull away from the hug. “this summer is going to be amazing!”
“i can’t wait,” you grin. the two of you always spent the first night sitting on the beach after dinner, talking all night. he would fill you in on his school year, and you would fill him in on yours. it usually ended with both of you in the ocean and sandy, but it was always one of your favorite traditions.
as you turn away from jeremiah, belly rushes out of the car and pulls him into a hug and he spins her around. your eyes catch on conrad, who had just rounded the corner of the house, and was staring at them. he meets your eye and smiles sheepishly, knowing that you had caught him. you smile and go pull him into a tight hug. “hey connie.”
“hey (y/n). it’s good to see you,” he says. as you pull apart, his eyes are caught on belly again, who is staring at him this time, too. you smile at the sight and push conrad towards her gently. the corner of his mouth slightly turns up and he walks to her as you walk back over to jeremiah and steven, who were giggling to themselves. when jeremiah sees you walking towards them, he waves you over quickly.
“belly flop time,” he says, a wide grin on his face. you laugh.
“yes!” the three of you walk towards conrad and belly, who were laughing with each other, seemingly in their own world.
“hey, i don’t know about you guys but…” steven pretends to check his nonexistent watch on his wrist. “i think it’s time…for a…belly flop!”
belly squeals as the boys grab her, conrad carrying her by her armpits and the other two grabbing her feet. you giggle and lead the way, opening the gate to the pool and letting them pass through. you and the boys count down from three and they throw belly in the water. you all laugh as she flails around, her clothes completely soaked. your smile fades as the boys turn to you, mischievous smiles on their faces. “no.”
“it’s not fair to only throw belly in there, is it?” steven says innocently. you shake your head and attempt to run away, but before you can, jeremiah has his arms wrapped around your waist and lifts you effortlessly in the air. steven and conrad help him and grab your legs, counting down from three just like they did with belly. she dove out of the way as the boys throw you into the water. luckily, the water was warm, and while the feeling of your wet clothes was uncomfortable on your skin, the water was quite refreshing. belly giggles as you swim towards her and pull her into a hug, but in the hug, you whisper in her ear. “let’s get back at them?”
she nods as if she read your mind, and when you pull apart and begin to approach the edge, she’s suddenly struggling. “wait, wait guys, my ankle.”
“what’s wrong belly?” conrad asks. she continues struggling in staying afloat.
“i…i hurt my ankle i think. i cant walk on it,” she reaches her arm out to conrad. “help me out.”
he reaches out, and as their hands connect she pulls him into the water and the other boys burst out in laughter, jeremiah doubling over in laughter with his hands on his knees. taking advantage of this moment, you grab his hands and pull him into the water too, completely catching him off guard as he falls into the water next to you. now steven is standing on the edge, struggling to breathe from laughing so hard. “no way they got both of you!”
jeremiah flips his hair out of his face and looks up at steven. “c’mon steven, waters nice! you don’t wanna be left out, do you?”
steven shakes his head, still laughing. “i think i’ll survive being left out today. these shoes were expensive.”
“lame!” jeremiah calls out as steven walks towards the house, his laughter still echoing in the air. jeremiah turns his attention to you and swims over to you, grabbing your waist and spinning you around. “i’ll get you back for pulling me in here.”
you laugh. “sure you will. c’mon, let’s go dry off for dinner.”
he hops out of the side of the pool and offers an arm to help you out. he pulls you out of the pool with ease. “race you upstairs?”
“that sounds dangerous,” you say. “wet feet on tile and hardwood floor? with your clumsiness?”
he mocks offense. “you think i’m clumsy? ridiculous.”
“jere, you tripped over a penny on the beach last summer,” you say. “and i don’t think we’ve had a summer here where we haven’t had to bring you to the e.r. from some injury.”
“the sand is trippy!” he claims. “and i just live an adventurous lifestyle. which is why i’m totally beating you upstairs.”
“better catch me first!” you say and immediately take off sprinting, up the stairs to the porch and through the sliding glass doors, which you attempt to close in front of jeremiah, who caught up with you quickly. carefully, you run through the house but the slippery floors really did make it difficult. soon, you’re halfway up the stairs and jeremiah is right behind you, laughing. “you’re such a cheater!”
“i’m just smarter than you!” you yell as you approach your bedroom, which was right next to his. he shakes his head.
“no way. just a cheater,” he grins at you one more time as he enters his bedroom, closing the door behind him. you walk into yours as well, your head spinning from the first thirty minutes you had spent here. jeremiah made everything around you feel insignificant and you felt like you were floating when he touched you. and for the first time in your life, you hated the feeling. you were with peter now. you had to focus on peter, not jeremiah.
it was hard to do that when you were spending the next two months living with him, your rooms right next to each other, and the walls thin enough that you could hear everything in each others rooms. whenever he played music, you heard every word. every conversation, every ounce of laughter, every time either of you cried. it was good, having a close connection to him, but you knew it was just going to make things so much harder.

Y/N's head broke above water and he wiped the water from his eyes to see Jeremiah smiling at him underneath the stars of the night sky, and the lights of the pool.
"Is this one of your solo night swims, or can I join?"
"Well, I do prefer to be left in peace, but I think I can make an exception for you." Y/N teased.
They swam around each other. "Oh, Y/N."
"What? What is it? You're acting moody. Like Conrad."
Jeremiah chuckles. "It's nothing." Y/N watched Jeremiah look down at the water, and then back up at him. "Everything. You're my best friend. There are times I wanted it to be more."
Y/N looks at him in shock. Did Jeremiah just admit to wanting to be more than friends? "Really? Uh... Why didn't you ever say anything?"
"Well, there was always Conrad. Then, this summer, it was Cam. And I guess I was just waiting to see who you'd choose."
"I think you have me confused with Belly. I have never felt whatever it is I'm supposed to feel for Conrad. I've only ever felt something for you, Jere." Y/N admits with red cheeks.
Jeremiah looks surprised. "So, why didn't you ever tell me if you had a crush on me?"
"Because I didn't want to make things weird between us, or jeopardize our friendship. Plus, I didn't think that I could compete with all the guys and girls that you've kissed and slept with."
They both let that sink in as Jeremiah bit his lower lip. "Do you think you–we could ever...."
Y/N smiles. "Yes. Yes." He grabs Jeremiah's hand.
Susannah told me that when I was born, she knew I was destined for one of her boys. I always hoped it would be Jeremiah. And now here I am, about to kiss Jeremiah Fisher and make it a reality.
They leaned in closer as they kissed in a passionate gay kiss.

Although you had similar personalities, you and Jeremiah never got along. Every summer, you would come to Cousins for Belly’s birthday and the two of you would always get into silly arguments. Last year, the two of you got into a serious karaoke competition which ended with Steven unplugging the karaoke, sick of hearing your showdown of Grease numbers.
‘’It’s your and Jeremiah’s turn,’’ Belly said excitedly, scanning the arcade for a suitable arena of rivalry. A mischievous grin crept onto her face. ‘’It’s a shame there’s no karaoke machine.’’
‘’I think it’s a relief,’’ Steven mumbled, not wanting to revisit that cacophonous memory.
You hit his arm, feigning offense. ‘’Hey!’’
‘’Oh, I think I know.’’ Taylor pointed at a Dance Dance Revolution machine near the pinball games.
This was perfect for you and Jeremiah. You preferred singing than dancing, but you were confident in your ability to win this particular dance-off. With a determined grin, you took your place at the machine, positioning yourself.
‘’Ready to lose?’’ Jeremiah asked, shooting you a cocky smile, his lips curving with unmistakable self-assuredness.
You met his arrogance with a knowing shake of your head, your eyes locked onto the screen in front of you. ‘’Don’t be so confident, Fisher.’’
Ariana Grande’s Side to Side began playing and colored arrows cascaded down the screen, urging you to synchronize your feet. You got this, you told yourself.
Beside you, Jeremiah was fast on his feet and initially appeared to have the upper hand. Yet, as the song progressed, a hint of strain crossed his features, starting to struggle with the speed. The concentrated focus was evident in the furrowed brow he sported, hearing more and more ‘excelent’s and ‘perfect’s popping on your screen.
Belly and Taylor were cheering you, already calling the win while the boys pressed Jeremiah to do better. Unfortunately — for them —, they distracted him more than anything.
Eventually, the last notes of the song echoed and you jumped in triumph, a victory grin plastered on your face as Belly and Taylor rushed over to hug you, adding a second victory to your team.
The competition continued, but first you made a stop for refreshers before braving the outside temperature again.
You grabbed your raspberry lemonade from the counter and went to the side to wait for the others. A chim came from your pocket and you pulled out your phone, seeing an email notification that had just come in. You quickly opened it, and your winning smile fell. You had been waiting for this email since you got in the car with Taylor and Steven, hoping for a positive reply. Sadly, it’s not what you got.
Seeing you frowning at your phone, Jeremiah came over and nudged your elbow. ‘’Why the frown?’’ he quipped, a playful glint in his eyes. ‘’You just beat me at Dance Dance Revolution. I thought you would be savoring your victory and rubbing it in my face for the next hours.’’
‘’I didn’t get accepted to the musical camp I applied to,’’ you explained without looking up from your screen, fighting the silly tears that were brimming your eyes. ‘’I worked so hard on my application and audition tape. I really thought I had this…’’
You expected him to laugh at you for applying to musical camp, but he didn’t. Instead, Jeremiah looped an arm around your shoulders and offered you a small hug of compassion. The gesture surprised you, but you didn’t push him off.
‘’Don't let this email ruin your day, okay? It’s their loss,’’ he said, trying to cheer you up. ‘’You’re the best Sandy I even dueted with.’’
You managed to offer a faint smile in response to his sincerity. ‘’Thanks, Jere. You’re not a terrible Danny either.’’
He chuckled softly as he pulled back, the sound like a soothing melody. ‘’Shall we get back to the others, Sandy? Or do we ditch them and go on a ride?’’

strangers again (c.f)
synopsis: REQUEST - Can i request something too?
For Conrad x reader
Enemies to lovers/Friends to lovers
But reader is sick and Conrad taking care of her
Tumblr media
Jeremiah’s name lights up on her phone next to her head, making her eyes hurt even behind her eyelids. She answers it with a groan and Jeremiah’s laugh cuts clear through it. “Whoa, you sound horrific,” he says. “Where are you?” She pulls her phone away from her head to check the time. She’s late. She’s been dozing in and out of sleep all day, trying to clear the headache that’s been forming in her brain. It was getting so bad, she started to feel nauseous and had to turn off all the lights. She didn’t even think to call Jeremiah and tell her she wasn’t going to be at the party.
“I’m sorry, J. I have a migraine. I’m feeling really sick, I’m not gonna make it,” she tells him. He sighs on the other side of the phone. It didn’t say I’m annoyed at you, it said that really sucks.
“Do you need me to come tend to you, little baby?” He asks as a joke but she can’t laugh. Jeremiah is a good friend to Yn. He always has been. She tells him no. “You sure? I can bring some Midol, and get you some ice-cold water. Lay with you while the lights are all off and pluck my eyelashes out from boredom?”
“I’m okay, Jere.”
“I’ll send Conrad, okay? He’s not coming.”
She quickly tells him no. She says it so many times Jeremiah laughs. “I’m serious. No.” The last thing that would fix her headache was Conrad Fisher but Jeremiah insisted so firmly, she conceded. She doesn’t have the energy to argue. “He can’t stay,” she says.
“Okay. I’ll send him over and I’ll see you tomorrow if you feel better?”
“Yes, I’ll see you tomorrow.” They hang up the phone and she closes her eyes again. She sees Conrad’s face with a red aurora around it. They used to be friends, her and Conrad, but now she would do anything to stay as far away from him as possible which sometimes proved difficult considering he was her best friend's brother but she still tried. She’d dodge him at the house whenever he entered the room, claiming a full bladder or that she needed to go home. Jeremiah let her pretend and never says anything to her. He still tried though like he knew something she didn’t.
She hears the front door open and shut and a voice calling out for her. Despite it being distorted and uiet, she knows it’s Conrad. She doesn’t speak because it hurts and lets him find his way to her bedroom. He flicks on the light and she throws the covers over her head in defense. “What the fuck is your problem?” She curses under the covers.
“What are you cussing at me for?” Conrad asks. She hears a plastic bag rustling and it makes her temples ache.
“Didn’t Jeremiah tell you I have a migraine? Why would you turn the lights on like that? And would you please stop fucking moving that bag around?!” She flips the blanket off of her head. Her eyes sQuint at the bright light above her head and she tries to focus them on what’s going on around her. He’s standing by her bedroom door with a grocery bag in his hand filled with God knows what. He’s smiling like he enjoys seeing her this way and she grimaces at him.
“Sorry, didn’t know I was walking into a hornet’s nest,” he quips. She narrows her eyes, no longer having to uint and he walks toward her. “Are you going to be nice and let me take care of you or is this a drop-and-go operation?”
“I’d prefer if you dropped and left,” she tells him. He pouts and she thinks it’s fake but when he sets the bag down on the bed and doesn’t open it, she wonders if he really does want to stay. And that pisses her off. “What do you have to prove?” She asks.
“What do you mean by that?” He furrows his eyebrows but doesn’t look at her. He pulls out a bottle of ibuprofen and cold water bottles and set them on the bed. Yn could feel the cold through her blanket.
“You don’t need to sit here and take care of me, you know? I can do it myself.”
“Lord knows that’s true,” he mumbles under his breath. He pulls out an almond Hershey bar. Her favorite chocolate. She tries not to think about it.
“What does that mean?”
“You’re allowed to make snippy, inconspicuous comments but I’m not?” He finally looks at her, throwing down a rag he took from her kitchen. It hits her leg and she glances between that and his face. It’s twisted in frustration. “I don’t have to mean anything by what I’m saying.”
“But you do mean something by it. You always mean something.”
Conrad scoffs and crumbles up the bag making her wince. She curls back up in her bed and kicks the stuff he put on the bed to the floor. He laughs but it’s not a happy laugh. He’s mad and she feels good that she made him feel that way. “You really are a piece of work, aren’t you?” She doesn’t want to but she peeks over her shoulder to see him bending down and collecting the stuff off the floor. She looks away before he can catch her. “I can’t believe Jeremiah still puts up with this shit.”
“He doesn’t put up with anything,” she mumbles. She closes her eyes and squeezes them shut so tightly to block out the lights he still hasn’t turned off. “He wants to be my friend. Just because you don’t doesn’t mean that other people agree with you.”
She can feel a fight coming on. One that she’s been trying to avoid for months and that, right now, she does not have the energy to participate in. Conrad opens the ibuprofen and shakes a few out into his hand. “Can you take some of these?” He asks her quietly. When she opens her eyes, his palm is outspread in front of her face with three white pills inside. “I have water.”
“I don’t want that right now.”
“Don’t be stubborn.” She groans and sits up against her pillows, snatching the pills
out of his palm. He twists open the cap of the water and hands it to her once she pops the medicine onto her tongue. He watches her intently as she washes them down. “Good job.” She rolls her eyes at him and sinks back down into the bed. “Who said I didn’t want to be your friend?” His voice is softer now with a level of concern she hasn’t heard from him in a while.
“You did, remember? When you told me not to talk to you anymore?” He doesn’t pretend to not remember. He just nods his head and sits on the corner of her bed as far away from her as possible. She was sure if he touched her she’d recoil away from him so she’s grateful he doesn’t make her do that.
“You know why I said that,” he whispers. He looks down at his lap and picks at the loose fabric on his sweatpants. She didn’t notice them before now. They’re ratty and old and she doesn’t remember ever seeing them before but it makes her wonder if he ran out of the house before getting ready.
“I don’t,” she says. “And can you please shut off the fucking light?” Conrad laughs a little bit. It’s a laugh that comes from deep inside his gut. It’s the kind of laugh Yn used to crave to hear and now it makes her stomach hurt.
When the light is off, instead of sitting back down on the bed, Conrad grabs the rag and bottle of water. He gets it wet and asks her if it’s okay if he puts it on her forehead. “The cold might make you feel better,” he suggests. She nods her head and then says yes aloud when she realizes he couldn’t see her. He sits closer to her now, his hip pushing against her side. She doesn’t recoil away from him but she notices it more than she should.
They don’t speak to each other as he presses the rag to her head but she can hear him breathing. She can feel his hand shaking. Her lips get dry and as the water drips down the side of her face, she feels like crying and she’s not really sure why. She wishes Jeremiah was here instead. She wouldn’t be so worried about his hip against her body. She wouldn’t be thinking about his hand shaking and wondering why it was shaking. Jeremiah’s hand wouldn’t be shaking at all. He was sure. He was so sure all the time it was why he was her rock. Conrad was never sure. That was why she couldn’t be around him. He made her feel uneasy.
When the rag gets too warm to be helpful, he puts it on her side table and dries the water off her forehead with his shirt sleeve. “How are you feeling?” He asks.
“Fine, I guess. Thanks.”
“Can I tell you something?”
“If you have to,” she says. She doesn’t mean to be rude but the talking made her head worse and if she didn’t have to, she didn’t want to. “Sorry,” she mumbles.
“I asked Jeremiah if I could come over,” he admits. She wishes she could see him but she knows that the fact they were in the dark and couldn’t see each other was the reason he just told her that. It was the reason they weren’t at each other’s throats right now. It didn’t feel real. “I wanted to take care of you.”
“Why?” Her voice cracks and her heart starts to race. She swears he can feel it in his legs from all the way in her stomach. Her nerves ran that deep.
“You know why…” He trails off.
“You keep saying that I know but I don’t. I don’t know anything. You, Conrad Fisher,
have always been an enigma to me.” Their entire relationship had been on the Conrad timeline. They spoke when he wanted to, hung out when he wanted to, and didn’t speak when he got in his moods. He was hot and cold and she just wanted to be there until it became too much. She know nothing when it comes to him.
The sensation of his hip pressing into her side changed to his thigh. The heat from his body went from the side of her to on top of her and when he speaks, his voice is closer than it was before. “I want to take care of you because I love you. I can’t talk to you because I love you and I can’t love you. You know I can’t love you.”
Her head is pounding but her heart is pounding harder and instead of worrying about the pain in her temple, she grabs his face and kisses him. He kisses her back like he’s been waiting for this moment his entire life. He leans into her, pressing his hands into the pillows on the side of her head as he deepens the kiss. He kisses her so hard, she forgets she’s in pain.
When he pulls away, her lips tingle and she presses her fingers to them. They’re wet and hot and she feels herself smile. “Are you okay?” He whispers to her. He puts his forehead against hers and she imagines him sucking the migraine out of her head. She nods. “Do you still hate me?”
She doesn’t answer right away. She puts her fingers to his face and feels for his lips. They’re stretched out in a smile and he kisses the tips of her fingers. She can feel his cheeks are hot and she trails her nail down to his jawline gently. She wants to remember how he feels in case she can never touch him again. “I never hated you, Conrad.”

You wake up feeling something warm next to you, as if you were curled up. When you remember that you and Conrad slept together last night. In your car, in the middle of the night. You notice Conrad is underneath you, sleeping like a baby. But as soon as you wake up you feel how uncomfortable it is to sleep in the back seat of the car, letting out a groan of pain with each attempt to get out from Conrad's arms.
"It's not polite to wake someone up like that, you know?" Conrad still speaks with his eyes closed and you smile slightly as if you had been caught doing something wrong.
"Why aren't you polite? I did my best not to wake you up." You say indignantly.
"Don't leave my arms before I wake up, I might feel abandoned." You laugh, watching him make drama.
"Next time I'll wake you up with slaps, I want to see if you'll like it." You say, standing up and helping Conrad get up too.
"Sleeping in this car was a thousand times better than I ever imagined, you know?" Conrad smiles charmingly, looking into your eyes as he says that. Considering how you both spent last night, you might expect him to complain about a sore back, but it seems like sleeping together was worth it.
"I would have preferred to sleep in a bed, but I can't deny that your company isn't the worst..." You say, teasing Conrad.
"I'd be offended if I didn't know from what we went through yesterday that you loved my company." Conrad says, all proud, and you look at him disapprovingly.
"Changing the subject, where did your brother and Belly go?" You try to shift the topic before it gets awkward.
"They went to sort out their couple issues in Jeremiah's car." Conrad speaks with such subtlety that you wouldn't even think he's one of the issues in that couple.
"Don't you think we should invite them for coffee somewhere nearby?" You say, wrapping your arms around Conrad's shoulders. You even run your fingers through his hair gently, hoping he'll support your idea.
"I think we could go back to the car and drive far away from them..." Conrad's suggestion comes in a joking tone, but you sense that it might be what he's really feeling.
"Unfortunately, Prince Charming, this Cinderella needs to get home before her mom starts worrying." Knowing your mother, she would send half the world after you before the end of the day if you didn't go home soon.
"No problem. I'll take you home after breakfast." Conrad says with a gentle smile. You watch him closely as he hugs you from behind, resting your head on his chest.
"If you're taking me home, let's at least say goodbye to Jeremiah and Belly. What kind of first impression will they have of me if I don't even wave goodbye?" You say, holding Conrad's hands tightly around your body. The truth is that it's a little cold on the beach and Conrad is a great substitute for a blanket.
"First impressions are overrated; let's save the good impression for the second time." Conrad suggests, and you feel like he's hinting that you'll see them again, possibly meaning you'll keep seeing him too.
"Let's say goodbye to your brother and Belly quickly before I leave you alone with them and take off." You say, pretending to threaten. Conrad looks at you as if unsure if you're joking or not but ends up laughing before you both go to bid farewell to Jeremiah and Belly.
As you and Conrad approach Jeremiah's car, you notice that he and Belly are lying together, with Jeremiah tenderly caressing her. You sense that this might bother Conrad, so you glance at him, offering some form of comfort. However, he seems surprisingly okay—almost as if yesterday's argument with Belly never happened. You allow yourself to imagine that he's moving on, perhaps even becoming enchanted by you.
"The lovebirds could do us the favor of coming to say goodbye." Conrad says, tapping on Jeremiah's car window. The couple in front is taken aback, and you scold Conrad, giving his arm a playful smack.
You turn away, attempting to give Belly and Jeremiah some privacy. Conrad gives you a mockingly complaining look about the arm smack. You murmur a "serves you right" as you run your hand over the "injured" arm.
"I thought we were going to have coffee together..." Jeremiah says, adjusting himself while Belly fixes her slightly tousled hair. You smile, realizing that not even you and Conrad managed to do that.
"The princess here needs to go home, and I can't let her go alone." Conrad says, surprising you with how he skillfully turns things in his favor.
"No need for that. You can stay with your brother, and I'll go home just the way I came here—alone." You assert. Jeremiah and Belly seem to be enjoying the spectacle as Conrad reacts to the suggestion that he stays with them.
"As you can see, she needs me. But honestly, I'd like to thank both of you for coming here looking for me." Conrad declares, catching you off guard. Even though you've known Conrad for a short time, you can't help but feel a certain pride in him.
"Whatever you did to him, keep doing it." Jeremiah says, addressing you. "But honestly, no need to thank us. Both Belly and I care about you and just want to see you well." Jeremiah looks at both you and Conrad. It's heartwarming to see how these siblings genuinely care for each other.
"And sorry if the three of us went too far yesterday, making our first time together seem weird. I promise next time we'll try to be better..." Belly apologizes, addressing you.
"Don't worry, I heard first impressions are overrated. I think next time, everything will be better." As you say this, there's a shared understanding among the group, and a sense of relief washes over. Conrad shoots you a grateful look. With smiles exchanged, you and Conrad finally head off, leaving Jeremiah and Belly behind.
"You know you just confirmed that you'll see them again, which means I completely seduced you, and you'll keep seeing me." Conrad speaks using a mischievous tone. You look at him in disbelief.
"I don't remember mentioning you. I think you need to improve your hearing, babe." You say as you stand as the two of you are getting into the car. You and Conrad then decide in the car that you will go after his car and that he will follow you home. You say there's no need but Conrad doesn't seem to want to let you get home unaccompanied. You smile as he says that from what he observed yesterday, my mother wouldn't like him if he wasn't a real gentleman to me. You smile, feeling defeated by the fact that he wants to meet your mother and want to see you again. For a few moments you wish he wasn't there in love with someone else. You then make your way to your house...
