A self indulgent D&D AU historbee and I had a lot of fun figuring out
Kallus is a Variant Human College of Whispers Bard/Psi Warrior Fighter
Zeb is a Bugbear Oath of the Crown Paladin/Totem Warrior Barbarian
It wasn’t really about translating their skills 1 to 1 but thinking about fun builds trying to capture the flavor of their characters!
Kallus having psychic magic that are interrogator flavored and being a dex based fighter makes sense hear me out. In a high fantasy setting where magic is so common like Dungeons and Dragons, we couldn’t justify limiting magic to only Jedi. It limits the classes non-Jedi can be plus Whispers has so many fun secret agent abilities!
Zeb was a little easier but landing on the paladin angle was so much fun to consider with his background as captain of the royal guard, then turning to barbarian rage as his kingdom fell
Both of them have glaives and the polearm master feat because of course 😤

Snippet from 'lay-on-the-floor-and-scream dot excel' please ❤❤❤
As you might have guessed from the title, this is my 'good data management solves the Clone Wars' AU! Work had me pretty agitated when I put it together, so it's more canon-divergent than originally intended, but hopefully it still holds up.
I started off thinking that the clones, coming from Kamino, would be pretty used to keeping extensive documentation on themselves/each other. Multiple sets of books, even—the sanitized ones they show the longnecks, the informal tracking of things nobody else cares about, the multiply-encrypted ones with the honest data about how their siblings are doing—as automated and redundant as possible, and while yeah it would be difficult to maintain during wartime, they are 1) the best-trained military minds and logisticians in existence and 2) absolutely not going to pay less attention to their siblings when they’re in more danger.
For this fic also I focused in on a worldbuilding thing that I actually thought was true a million years ago before I’d ever gotten into any Star Wars nonsense, which is that Lightside users are a sort of filtering system for the Force. That the Dark was an agent or consequence of some sort of metaphysical entropy—the constant descriptions of it as cold and oppressive really reinforced that one for me—and Force-sensitives would dedicate themselves to opposing it on behalf of the universe. So they’d be agents and sources of the Light, not only directly combating Darksiders (and more prosaically evil people) but also through meditation (and to some degree intrinsic aura) functioning as something like metaphysical space-heaters. I was thinking of them kinda through a D&D lens, like galactic paladin-monks. It made sense to me.
Under this system, then, not only would things feel cold and depressing around a Sith, but the world would be warmer and more comforting around a Jedi. To, say, a statistically significant degree. You see where I’m going with this—what if there was a sweet little chart that proved, mathematically and objectively, that puppy piles around the Jedi general improve the quality of life/life expectancy of everyone involved?
Such a chart could also indicate a general getting closer to a Fall (Krell more cleanly than Anakin, since Anakin’s baseline will be skewed after the Tusken massacre, and conflated by Obi-Wan and Ahsoka’s recurring presences) or various other ongoing issues in a battalion (Corrie Guard, my beloveds) but we have to start by convincing our ascetic galactic paladin-monks of the efficacy of wartime cuddles.
Cody hums faintly, and still does not continue. Obi-Wan has years of practice and does not need the Force to tell him to be patient, that if he pushes Cody now he might miss his chance to hear something important. The Force tells him anyway.
“General.” Cody begins again. “You know the kark you make up so you don’t have to directly answer a direct question?”
Obi-Wan narrows his eyes. This conversation could be about many things. The Force tells him yes. It is unhelpful.
It seems he takes too long to answer, and Cody continues on, delivering further defamatory accusations in his polite semi-formal voice. “As when you refuse mandatory post-mission checkups, and Helix hunts you down and asks if whatever put the holes in your robes put any matching holes in you, and instead of telling him what he certainly knows, you spin a charming tale about some other poor sap who possibly got shot but is probably fine regardless, no need for any medics who may or may not exist to get involved?”
The Force says yes. Obi-Wan does not roll his eyes, because he is a master of the jedi order and also of himself. “I’m familiar with the rhetorical construction of a hypothetical situation, yes.” He replies primly.
“Good. I’d like to discuss a situation with you, sir, with the understanding that everything I describe is purely hypothetical.”
(also as you can see this is a very fun Cody for me to write, because he and all the rest of the 212th have gone their entire wartime experience with Obi-Wan layering peace/comfort/reassurance over them like a mantle, so he’s a lot more comfortable speaking his mind and I get to lean into my favorite codywan bitch4bitch relationship dynamic from the jump)
#asks#zahnie#fun fact when I started this fic (over a year ago) I was in the middle of a supremely awkward transition period at my new job#and I did actually have a layonthefloorandscream.xlsx file that I was using in a desperate attempt to map my new responsibilities#the whole college was in flux and no one knew who was supposed to be doing which of the many tasks that needed to be done#and no one ever knew either who the latest person to do any given thing was so that they could train the next#and we kept finding out the day after something was due that no one had done it at all#and indeed eventually the day did come that I lay on the floor and scream but then I got up again and made a chart about it#and then the weekend after I made a fic about it!#the excel file still exists btw. things have improved so it's been renamed to sitonthestairsandrant but it's the same file#there's a column now to track how likely someone is to solve their own problems if I just trick them into using me as a rubber duck for it#it's a pretty promising metric. ultimately very encouraging for everyone involved

Hi! Hope you’re well!
I’m working on an antagonist for a campaign, very much in line with the idea of an Oathbreaker/Conquest oath paladin. Her home was invaded by the current vampiric emperor, and joined him to protect her people from her wrath. She’s done a LOT of harm in the emperor’s name in the centuries since to keep protecting them, and hopes to redeem herself with the help of the party (eventually), but absolutely doesn’t think she deserves it after all this time.
What might it take to let her give herself a chance to try again?
Sorry for the slow response. Honestly, someone being that kind of long lasting and dangerous extension of evil requires quite a bit of development in order to make it feel like something that could be taken seriously. A trial of the soul, so to speak, would be what tI would suggest, where the Paladin finds themselves facing the weight of what they've done, and the heroes of the story seeing or participating in this trial to its conclusion.
The circumstances are different, but I think you could garner some inspiration from this AU story.

I'm finally home, I watched Across the Spiderverse and I am vibrating from wanting to scream about things but I am so mentally boomed all I would manage is "ooooo pretty colors"
So I might try and talk about it tomorrow when I am slightly more coherent.
I also got my playstation visa card AND realized I'd mis-read the whole offer about the 125 statement credit thing, it expired 6/30
So I SHOULD get it. Which is good since I Just put 600 dollars on a credit card with a stupid high APR. Which I will be focusing on paying off ASAP. -cringes-
I'm being a good girl and did not get Jedi Survivor. I want to pay this off ASAP and don't need to carry anymore debt on it than I have to.
I'm going to try and pay this off within 3 months which may fuck around with my plans to start paying on the Obi-Wan and Fox hot toys. I feel like....Obi-Wan will prolly sell out before Fox and he releases first so I"m going to focus on him and then Fox afterwards. Can I say how upset and disappointed I am we do not get a Fox headsculpt?
Okay I'm fucking beyond exhausted. The last chapter of this A M A Z I N G Xedgin finished posting and I'm like three chapters behind at this point.
Everyone should go read it.
It's a delightful AU set about 7ish years before the movie and kinda takes things and tosses it out. Ed, Holga and a seven year old Kira decide to leave and head down South towards Mornbryn's Shield. And along the way they meet this handsome Paladin and Eg is very much lowkey thirsting until he finds out he's Thayan and well there's a couple of chapters of Ed making you want to strangle him but he gets better.
There is so much scrumptious pining and people being dumb. I love it so much.
So I'm going to read that foe the rest of the night and hopefully don't pass out midway through because I am legit to that poi t of exhaustion where I am loopy.

I see your star wars d&d thing and my first thought is wait shouldn't they be paladin's but then I realized something you can multi class so Anakin would start as an artificer than get taken in by the Jedi paladins I am not sure what oath he takes maybe vengeance but eventually he goes and becomes a level 20+ oath breaker Darth Vader. This would of course mean that Luke is an oath of redemption paladin.
No, I already said that the Jedi are by default monks, and I stand by this. If the Jedi multiclass then they multiclass as monks.
Yoda can multiclass as a paladin, tho, because I think it would be funny if he was both.
Anyway I said please don't give me dnd-detail suggestions. This au is about the aesthetic. I cannot emphasize how much I don't want to have to deal with DnD rules for this.
When I say "do not suggest/send [things]" I really do mean don't send it, and I just. Come on.

The Shepherd, Spirit of Finding and Sunlight. Karkinos’ cabin may appear on any sunlight hill near a tree line. He is the spirit of all herding or flocking animals, and of finding the lost. He has an eagerness to aid mortals that the other spirits sometimes find too involved.
Jonathan
The Collector, or Generosity, born as the Prince of Demons but found his winding way through the stages of in-between, and through sacrifice, back to his true form as the Spirit of Artifacts and Generosity. Jonathan makes his home in an extinct volcano where he stores his vast and impressive hoard. The mountain is shrouded from the eyes of mortals, although it does have an exact location in the world.
Justice and Mercy
The Spirits of Justice and Mercy are two halves of one whole, rarely seen apart. They are connected specifically to human affairs, as many of the third generation of spirits are, and appear when their judgement or their charity is most needed. Mercy’s gifts come at a cost to herself, and she is in a constant cycle of rebirth and death, while Justice's role is the protection of his sister and to ensure Mercy is not given blindly.

Wiggly Small Gremlin of a Child. Nathan has a tendency to make best friends out of the worst people, charming even the most jaded and stern antagonists. He has an extensive Collection of bones, rocks, leaves, buttons- anything that catches his little crow brain. He loves the woods and is constantly running for the tree line. What Jedi or sith or star wars roles in general would you give the Paladins and why? Bonus points if you give the star wars name and lore.
Alright, this one has been sitting in the box for awhile mainly because it's a lot of work. But anyway here's hoping I get it done before Christmas 👍
All of this falls outside of the Star Wars AU and assume any mentions of idols are Paladin specific iterations.
Also I realise I could've wrote more for each Paladin but I wanted this to be done this year instead of next year.

Your eyes trace over her soft brown hair as she meditates, her beauty unrestrained by prisoner gear. As a smile crosses her lips you can't help but hate the muzzle that restrains her in real life.
Yet as the image fades from view like a picture left in the sun, you see a glimpse of someone. Blue faded armor bound to a short figure, the image disappears too quickly for you to get a good look.
Yet, a word echoes through your mind.
Sparrow
The Blue Sparrow

Role: Mandalorian Smuggler
Not many things are known about Sparrow, is she even Mandalorian? All that's known is that you don't wanna be caught on her bad side, otherwise you might hear a whistling bird before your demise.
Rumor and hearsay aside, Sparrow is one of the best smugglers on this side of the galaxy, whatever you do don't mention a certain Balosauran smuggler and you'll stay in her good books.
Coruscant always made you uneasy, the neon lights reminding you of a certain Balosauran rival.
Jazz Bar, your rendezvous point, a mysterious cilent awaited you. Fingers resting on your holster.
Yet as you scan the aged decor you find the club devoid of any patrons. A regular smuggler would smell a trap and back out regardless of the credits on the line.
Yet, you only knew one person who would do this. Blue jacket clad and sitting at the bar.
"About time you showed up," her voice calls out to you, smoke drifting past her lips. A smile crosses her face at your helmeted visage.
"Siyeon," you remark, your fingers pull away from your holster.
You weren't in immediate danger.
"In the flesh," her hand tucking her short blue hair behind her ear. Her gaze almost makes you melt as you settle into a seat next to her.
"Is this business or pleasure?"
"Sadly just business my dear. Though I could rethink my priorities if you removed your helmet." Her fingers trace your helmet, a game she always tried to play.
Your hand removes her touch. "What's the business?"
"It's a two-parter, an extraction/rescue mission and..." She hums for a little bit, her eyes scanning upwards for an answer. "A teaching position?"
Her words fall out almost like a suggestion.
"Excuse me what?" your eyebrows knit together, not that she can see that.
She stirs a stray glass.
"We found a potential force-sensitive on Kiffex. We already have an agent on the ground but extraction will be where you come in."
It would almost be impossible to get a prisoner off of Kiffex. That is if it was anyone besides you.
"What about this uh, teaching position?"
A smile crosses her face and you know it spells trouble. "I think all you need to know is that Neon has already accepted."
Qazi 'Neon' Vav'ner
Paladin: @neon-city-dreams
Role: Ex-smuggler/Medic
Neon, originally a high profile smuggler from Balosaur. A polluted hole of a world run by cartels. As a result, a young Qazi joined the cartels as a means of survival. Quickly finding a propensity for the craft despite his own dislike.
He earned the moniker Neon after a chance cut revealed neon red blood similar in colour to death sticks. However, upon escaping the cartels, his blood was revealed to have extremely high toxin resistance even for a Balosauran setting him on his path to being a doctor.
"You're gonna accept just to piss Sparrow off aren't you?" A smirk crosses Gahyeon's lips. A chuckle leaves your own.
"I mean yeah? Maybe?" you stifle yourself as much as you can. "What does this teaching position involve?"
"Well... Since Dystopia is predisposed at the moment. We're unable to train the potential recruit, so who better to train them than experts in their field?"
"Wait a minute you want us to raise a jedi?" Your eyebrows cocked, concern laced your voice. That was a big responsibility.
"I mean yeah, I guess?" she muses to herself. "It'll be better than if the empire got to them."
Maybe not by much. Granted you did always want kids but this felt like a trial by fire situation.
"You mean we potentially have to deal with the empire on top?" Your teeth grit at the mere mention.
"Dystopia will assist you where we can. I know some of our member will be stationed with the team."
"Next you're gonna tell me you hired a Nightbrother or sister to help us as well," your voice seared with sarcasm. The massacre of Dathomir was the first real showcase for the might of the empire.
A smile twitches at the edge of Gahyeon's lips, her eyebrows raised in surprise. "How'd you know?"
Now, I know @subways-stuff part of this ask is supposed to go here but I might be working on a longer form one since it ties in with something else I was planning on writing, here's hoping I get it down before Christmas.

the medieval fantasy star wars au nobody asked for
Alright guys, settle down because this is gonna be a long ride. The idea came to me when simultaneously backreading the wonderful mess that is the Canon SW discord server and scrolling through fantasy art on pinterest. My brain went “Luke and Leia would be the cutest mage-knights on the continent” and “darth vader is a fallen paladin” and “Aphra is a rogue artificer” and yeah, it devolved from here.
What I ended up with is Star Wars characters and lore set in an universe heavily inspired by Dungeons and Dragons, Dragon Age and Lord of the Rings, Arthurian Legends, Skyrim, Game of Thrones and -i kid you not- Naruto. No knowledge of any of these fandoms is needed, since I’m planning to write this for people only familiar with Star Wars. While this AU has a lot of elements from various fandoms, it’s ultimately an AU and not a crossover (or multi-cross).
I’m calling it MF!Star Wars or MFSW for short, AKA Medieval Fantasy SW. (or MotherFucking Sad Wimp, which is an apt description of Darth Vader imho)
I don’t mind people expanding on this (in fact, i’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts) but the fic i’m going to write is Luke-centric. It’s also kind of a rewrite of the original movies but i’m definitely doing a hell of a lot of canon divergence.

the planets are countries and city-states
this fic features din djarin, baby yoda, boba fett, mara jade, ezra bridger and the crew, the clones, cal kestis, galen marek, the naberries, padmé’s handmaidens, and lots of ghosts
